    Enhancement of flexural strength on reinforced concrete beams strengthened with GFRP under cyclic loading.

    This paper presents experimental research on reinforced concrete beams with flexural strengthening by Glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) under cyclic loading. A total of 54 beams were cast and externally bonded with different configurations and three beams were cast without Strengthening (control beam). Each beam was tested under reversed cyclic loading under a two-point loading system. The loads are applied as positive and negative loads. The test specimens were evaluated in terms of load-displacement and cracking patterns. The experimental results show that strengthened RC beam load carrying capacity is observed to be in the range of 0 % to 25% for forwarding loading (Positive load) and 23.33 % to 66.66% for reverse loading (Negative load). Deflection is increased in the range 5.34% to 98.96% for forward loading (Positive load) and 0 % to 123.56% for reverse loading (Negative load) as compared to the control beam.

Being a proficient alternative to traditionalelectricity generation technologies, wind energy can facilitate nations to achieve their carbon neutrality goals. This paper aims to enhance the annual profit of wind farms using an enriched genetic algorithm. Innovative dynamic techniques for allotting the chances of crossover and mutation procedures have been employed for the genetic algorithm-based optimization process accompanied by the established static tactic. The evaluation consequences of the projected procedure have been contrasted with the results accomplished by the genetic algorithm with the standard static method of apportioning the crossover and mutation probabilities. The evaluation outcomes authorize the preeminence of the new non-linearly escalating procedure over the static tactic of allotting the crossover and mutation prospects for achieving a more optimal yearly profit

    Quantitative Morphometric Assessment of Bhima Lower sub-basin using Remote Sensing and GIS

    The Bhima lower sub-basin, a tributary of the Krishna River, was opted for the morphometric assessment so as to understand the relation between the drainage system and the lithology as well as the topography of the area. The Cartosat-1 DEM with a spatial resolution of 2.5m was used for the watershed delineation and stream network extraction. ArcGIS 10.3 software was used as the computational as well as analytical tool and for the preparation of thematic maps. The sub-basin was fractionated into 26 watersheds and 12 micro-watersheds with each of them having a least 3rd order stream as the main channel. More than 25 morphometric parameters were studied which included the linear, aerial, shape as well as relief aspects of the morphometry. The Bhima River forms the trunk stream with an order of 7, while WS11 was found to be the largest watershed within the sub-basin and the WS11f was found to be the longest. The drainage is very much controlled by the lithology of the area. The terrain was found to be rough, elongated with some watersheds having a high risk of flooding. The study forms a base for further watershed management and sustainable development works

    LoRa Based Vehicular Communications

    Past few years road traffic is increasing at an alarming rate. Traffic congestion, wasted time at traffic lights, and increased air pollution is part of the consequences of increased traffic. Traditionally the traffic lights are not smart and the communication between them is also not happening. Cooperative navigation and monitoring can be easily done by the inclusion of LORA Technology in Vehicular communication. With the help of LoRa technology, the Low Power consumption network can be established for large coverage area. In this paper authors analyze the LoRa- based traffic and the emergency vehicle detection scheme. We conduct the Performance analysis of the LoRa technology using the experimental and simulated setup in urban mobility environment. We also conduct field test on two scenarios along with the simulation done using network simulator NS-3 simulations. The result determines the effect of the Spreading factor SF used in analyzing the RSSI and PDR as the metrics of interest

    The objective of this paper is to construct an extension of the  class of Jones distribution Banach spaces SDp[Rn],1p,S{D^p}[\mathbb{R}^{n}], 1\leq p\leq \infty, which appeared in the book by Gill and Zachary \cite{TG} to  SDp[R]S{D^p}[\mathbb{R}^{\infty}]  for 1p.1\leq p \leq \infty. These spaces are separable Banach spaces, which contain  the Schwartz distributions as continuous dense embedding. These spaces provide a Banach space structure for Henstock-Kurzweil integrable functions that is similar to the Lebesgue spaces for Lebesgue integrable functions

    This work studied the motivation and satisfaction levels of employees regarding their job, career advancement opportunities and training, job support, compensation, HR policies, and empowerment within the organization. The study was carried out on the employees employed at the local outlet of a renowned retail chain in India.  The purpose of the study was to provide the management of this retail chain with insights into satisfaction and motivation levels, and the needs of its employees. Given that basic human behavior remains the same, the findings presented herein may be utilized by any organization or for similar studies

    DIVERSITY OF CHLOROPHYCEAE IN THE KLING AREA OF RI-BHOI DISTRICT, MEGHALAYA

    The present study deals with the diversity of algal flora under the class Chlorophyceae, location selected in Kling area of Ri-Bhoi district, Meghalaya. The experiment was conducted from the month of August, 2016 to May, 2017. In this advancing generation, these species made great impact ecologically as well as economically around the world. The species collected were observed and identified under the microscope. Accordingly its pH, temperature, habitats and species found in particular season were all recorded. A total of 25 species with 14 genera and genus Spirogyra leading with 5 species was found. In case of seasonal variation, more number of species were especially observed during the spring season compared to others. Hence, this study will help in leading other necessary experiments to continue in the future and also conserve the Chlorophyceae and other algal diversity in this region

    Does Flood Affect the Intensity of Livelihood Diversification? - A Study in the Flood-Affected Areas of Assam, India

    Diversification of livelihood strategies is one of the most sought livelihood strategies of the people around the globe. People diversify their livelihood due to the uncertainties prevailing around the households. In certain other cases, people diversify their livelihood due to emerging opportunities that arise due to socio-political and economic changes. The Livelihood strategy of the rural people of developing countries is a function of multiple factors ranging from access to resources and vectors of demographic, geographic, and socio-economic factors. Most of the factors are common in rural areas of India. However, in certain pockets of the country natural calamities affect the livelihood pattern of the people. Flood, being the most severe natural calamities in the state of Assam, has a significant impact on the livelihood strategies of the people of the state. With this backdrop, this study aims at constructing and comparing the livelihood diversification index in the flood-affected areas and the flood-free areas adjacent to the affected areas. The livelihood diversification index for this study is constructed using the Herfindahl-Hirschman index. The livelihood diversification index of the households of the study area is 2.4470. The study finds that the livelihood diversification index of flood-affected areas (2.5196) is significantly higher than the flood-free areas (2.2308)

    Health Issues of Rat Hole Coal Mine Workers of Meghalaya - A Logit Regression Analysis

    Most of the coal mines in Meghalaya are controlled by private individuals and companies. The Garo Hills district has the highest coal reserve of 390 million tonnes. Locally the mining of coal is done by making small pit holes commonly known as Rat Hole mines. These coal mines are illegal and the owners of the mine exploit the poor workers as they have no other means of livelihood to support them. This study intends to highlight the various health problems faced by the coal mine workers who are mostly migrants. The study was carried out in South Garo Hills which is one of the 11 districts of Meghalaya, by interacting with 110 workers of different private coal mines. A logit regression model is used to find the significance of various independent variables which are broadly classified as individual habits, demographic factors, work environment, and the fuel used for cooking.  Certain  factors come under these broad categories like working hours, age, gender, leisure time. The dependent variables include certain health problems like skin problems, hearing problems, Respiratory problems. The result of the logit regression reveals that for most of the health issues suffered by the coal mine workers, the individual habits and work environment are more significant than the other independent variables
