    GIS BASED MORPHOMETRIC CHARACTERISTICS OF KADAVANAR RIVER BASIN IN TAMIL NADU, INDIA

    The Remote Sensing and GIS technique is an effective tool for analyzing the morphological characteristics of a river basin. The geographical location of Kadavanar river basin between latitudes 10° 52' 34.70"N and 10° 10' 57.59"N, and longitudes 77° 37' 48.14"E and 78° 13' 27.69"E, and one of the contributors to Cauvery river. The study focused on the river basin linear, areal, and relief aspects of morphometric characteristics. The study concentrated on the morphometric parameters and evolution of the stream order (U), stream length (Lu), bifurcation ratio (Rb), drainage density (Dd), stream frequency (Fs), drainage texture (Rt), elongation ratio (Re), circularity ratio (Rc), form factor (Rf), basin relief (Bh), relief ratio (Rh) and ruggedness number (Rn). The Kadavanar basin has a six-order of the drainage system, with a total of 841 stream networks, of which are 653 in the first-order, 143 in the second-order, 34 in the third-order, 8 in the fourth-order, 2 in the fifth-order stream, and 1 in the sixth-order stream according to morphometric study. The first order of the stream has a longer overall length, which decreases as the stream order increases. The average bifurcation ratio is 3.80, signifying that there were more structural disruptions due to geological influence. There has observed a low drainage density of the value of 0.91 km/km2. It indicates that the river basin has a dense vegetation cover and is highly permeable. The basin morphometric study revealed that it has a slight risk of soil erosion and flood of the basin, indicating that surface runoff of the upland region of the river basin is significantly infiltration gently downstream of the basin, contributing to the groundwater potentiality of the region. Further study of Remote Sensing and GIS techniques is more effective in developing an appropriate natural resource for the groundwater management system of the region

    Sansevieria Plant: Plant Base Cell (PBC) to power up IoT sensors nodes

    First time in this paper we are characterized the sansevieria trifasciata plant to power up IoT sensor nodes. This plant belongs to succulent group and survives at a very high temperature with minimum requirement of water and having higher self-repair ability if any wound in leaf happened. This chosen plant produces larger electrical potential compared to other succulent group plants due to larger oxygen level. The harvested potential varies with the separation between electrodes and with the duration of experimental time. The number of series connected plants and the position of electrodes are the two main factors for controlling the harvested energy. We have harvested 2.80 V when three sansevieria trifasciata plants were connected in series and at least two electrodes were inserted into acidic soil

    ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF TRADITIONAL HERBAL DRUGS USED IN THE TREATMENT OF JAUNDICE

    Jaundice is not a disease rather a symptom that can show up in several disease conditions. The manifestation of jaundice is due to the severe hepatic damage and excessive release of a yellow pigment called bilirubin to blood. The process of RBC destruction is called haemolysis and the jaundice caused this way is called haemolytic jaundice. The other two types of jaundice are called hepatocellular jaundice and obstructive jaundice. In our body, a balance between oxidative free radicals and antioxidants is usually maintained and this is a prerequisite for a normal health. Overloading with the free radicals and significant depletion in the supply of antioxidants lead to an act of imbalance termed as oxidative stress in health science. Oxidative stress causes haemolysis. Severe oxidative stress is considered one of the principal factors causing jaundice. The hepatoprotective property of certain herbal drugs may be attributed to their antioxidant potential. All plants produce chemical compounds as part of their normal metabolic activities. The curative properties of drugs are due to the presence of complex chemical substances of varied composition (present as secondary plants metabolites) in one or more parts of these plants. A large number of plant based materials are recognized as hepatoprotective herbal drugs, and these are traditionally being used for the reversal of jaundice in ethno-medicine

    Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to build an ISO 9126 based new quality model that describes quality characteristics for the successful assessment of COTS software and to guide the industries that are making COTS-based systems. Some new features are added as well as some dropped in existing model ISO 9126 for better evaluation of COTS components. In the proposed model, some new sub-characteristic such as availability, resource utilization, and capacity associated with high-level characteristic efficiency (performance) are included. Some new sub-characteristics are also added such as scalability, reconfigurability, stability, and self-contained.Keywords: COTS, Quality model, ISO 9126, Component-Based Software Development (CBSD)

    Low-cost aerial mapping and accuracy assessment using UAV internal parameters for Image georeferencing in undulating terrain

    Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry is an area of immense potential emerging today highly efficient method for surveying small- or medium-sized areas. UAVs are providing a cheaper solution for obtaining very precise results in terrain mapping. The integration of the Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) / Post-processing Kinematic (PPK) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) module on a UAV allows the reconstruction of a highly detailed and precise Digital Terrain Model without using Ground control points (GCPs) and provides the possibility to carry out surveys in high undulating areas. The combination of the internal flight parameters of the UAV with the geospatial parameters (multi-band GNSS) plays a major role to achieve high-end accuracy in UAV photogrammetric surveys. The objective of this study is to compare the RTK positioning accuracy with the PPK method. UAV data was processed by photogrammetric software Pix4DMapper, the RMSEz = 0.494451 m was calculated from the RTK data, while the data generated by the PPK method yielded a mean RMSEz = 0.313777 m. After careful and in-depth observation of all dimensions of the geospatial models, concludes that UAV data obtained by the PPK method is more accurate than RT

    EFFECT OF DIFFERENT CYTOKININ CONCENTRATIONS ON IN VITRO SHOOT MULTIPLICATION OF BAMBUSA TULDA ROXB. FROM NODAL CUTTINGS

    Bambusa tulda Roxb. is an economically important bamboo species that belongs to the order Poales, family Poaceae and sub-family Bambusoideae. It is a sympodial species that grows well in tropical and sub-tropical regions of India. Bambusa tulda is tall, sturdy and quickly growing bamboo species having succulent shoots that are rich in phytosterols. The species is overexploited due to its economic importance. Large scale production is not sufficient by the conventional method of propagation due to their low multiplication rate, time consuming, high cost and labor intensive. For the conservation and mass propagation of different bamboo species, in vitro culture is providing to be a promising process. So, in the present study, an experiment was conducted to achieve a protocol for an effective concentration of cytokinin on the shoot proliferation and multiplication of Bambusa tulda Roxb. using nodal cuttings. The nodal explants were used to induce multiple shoots proliferation using various concentration of BAP and Kn on MS medium. The MS medium supplemented with BAP (3.0mg/l) supported the maximum in vitro shoot multiplication. The result of the experiment also showed that, 3 mg/l BAP concentration was found to be more effective for shoot proliferation of Bambusa tulda

    A QUALITATIVE STUDY ON THE CONTRIBUTION OF PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES TO DEVELOPMENT OF KWARA STATE, NIGERIA: EVIDENCE FROM AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY

    As captured in the National Policy of Education that private investors are needed to contribute to the development of the society, this study examined the contribution of private universities to the development of Kwara State, Nigeria with evidence from Al-Hikmah University. The research design adopted for the study was qualitative type. Both purposive and convenience sampling techniques were employed to select four participants within Al-Hikmah University that participated in the study. Protocol titled “Interview Protocol on Contribution of Private Universities (IPCPU)’’ was used to elicit relevant information. Findings revealed that the university contributes immensely to the development of Kwara State. The contribution includes enrolment of students seeking for university education, employment generation, and manpower development. Also, findings indicate that the challenges associated with the university include non-access to external fund, inconsistent government policy among others. The study recommends that the government should provide enabling environment to remove the policy threat by giving constitutional recognition to the role of private sector in the establishment and operation of private universities.     

    Vegetation indices based farm-level mustard crop classification for the analysis of cropping pattern in Rabi 2021 and change in crop trend 2019 to 2021 of Kota District, Rajasthan

    Remote sensing technology is used to quickly investigate as an innovative, standardized, potentially cost-effective, and faster method for crop acreage estimation. Furthermore, when compared to previous monitoring systems, Sentinel-2 satellite data has tremendous advantages since it delivers five-day interval, topographical, and up-to-date crop info at multiple phases. The main Rabi oil seed crop in Rajasthan is rapeseed and mustard. This study explores the use of the time series NDVI based farm level acreage estimation depending on the condition of the chlorophyll content. It also studies the changes in the cropping patterns and trends in Kota district, Rajasthan using the Google Earth Engine cloud platform along with the NCMS Mobile application for ground truth. Results indicate the reliability of the developed method for estimating acreage down to the farm level. Estimated Results for found to be in close agreement with authenticated government data. Two of the studied sub-districts showed significant cropping patterns. Classification accuracy for mustard ranged between 78-90 percent, while the overall classification accuracy 80-90 percent. The study concludes with the use of technology-based acreage estimations for faster and more reliable results

    FLORISTIC DIVERSITY OF KAKALBHAGI AND BORAKOTA WETLAND OF SONITPUR DISTRICT, ASSAM

    Aquatic plants support all life forms through extensive food webs and biodiversity, therefore they are known as “Kidney of the Landscape” and also “Biological Super Market”. Richness of biodiversity especially of angiospermic plants is well observed in aquatic or wetland vegetation.  The present study records the valuable aquatic plants of Kakalbhagi and Borakota wetlands of Sonitpur district having economic as well as ethnomedicinal importance. From the study, a total of 72 species has been enlisted; Asteraceae and Araceae are found to be dominant in dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous families respectively. Ipomoea aquatica, Marsilea minuta, Nymphaea nouchali, Nymphaea rubra, Nymphaea pubescens are some economically important aquatic species of those wetlands. But due to natural as well as anthropogenic activities like encroachment for construction, excessive collection of species for various commercial purposes, pollution etc. the floristic diversity is decreasing very rapidly and creating threats to the native flora of the region. It is unfortunate to say that the richness of density of some species like Euryale ferox, Trapa natans are decreasing day by day at an alarming rate. So it is very much urgent to take every action for proper conservation of these two significant wetlands of the district of Sonitpur
