Túlélés, ellenállás, adaptáció: informális gyakorlatok Magyarországon és Lengyelországban

    Get PDF

Social capitals, social class, and prosperity in high-trust and low-trust societies

    No full text
Inequalities in social capital are accepted today as important aspects of social and economic prosperity. This analysis utilizes global comparative data from the International Social Survey Program and finds substantial variation in the three types of social capital across social classes, in a cross-country perspective as well as among two types of societies, 10 high-trust and 13 low-trust societies. Social capitals show significant correlation with economic and social prosperity outcomes as well. The authors find that in more prosperous countries there is an abundance of bridging and linking social capital, whereas people in economically and socially less prosperous societies rely more on bonding social capital. The authors also present evidence on the class-related inequalities of social capitals: More advantageous class positions are associated with higher levels of bridging and linking social capital, whereas the lower classes hold higher levels of bonding social capital. Based on a multilevel analysis that brings together all of these aspects as well as a number of individual-level predictors, they conclude that their initial findings are reinforced with only minor exceptions.Csak helyi hálózaton érhető el / Restricted to LA

A neoliberális európai várospolitika találkozása a periféria fejlesztési stratégiájával - Gyula példáján

The theoretical framework of Hungarian urban development was "urban/local competition" after the change of regime in 1989. This theory became predominant at European scale in the 1980s, however, this kind of development offered a rapid success only for a minority of urban centres. The wide majority of towns faced, that in most of competitiveness criteria it far behind the leading group of 'metropoles' and non-metropolitan centres. The answer was forming out a place-based development path using a certain part of 'classical' dimensions of urban competitiveness and mixed it with local strengths, specificiti es. In our case-study we try to follow the emergence of a new -tourism-based -and in longer term quite successful local strategy, identifying the key actors of the local development coalition (urban regime).szabadon elérhető / Free acces

    No full text

Spatial imaginaries and selective in/visibility: Mediterranean neighbourhood and the European Union’s engagement with civil society after the ‘Arab Spring’

    No full text
As part of a repertoire of the European Union’s (EU’s) geopolitical practices, the imaginary of Mediterranean Neighbourhood is a means with which to manage dissonance between the EU’s self-image as a normative power, changing political situations in the region and the Realpolitik of security. We argue that this also involved a ‘politics of in/visibility’ that promotes democratization and social modernization through structured cooperation while engaging selectively with local stakeholders. In directing attention to EU readings of and responses to the ‘Arab Spring’, we indicate how both a simplification of the issues at stake and highly selective political framings of local civil societies have operated in tandem. Drawing on a review of recent literature on civil society activism in the southern Mediterranean, we specifically deal with Eurocentric appropriations of civil society as a force for change and as a central element in the construction of the Mediterranean Neighbourhood. EU support for South Mediterranean civil society appears to be targeted at specific actors with whom the EU deems it can work: apart from national elites these include wellestablished, professionalized non-governmental organizations, and westernized elements of national civil societies. As a result, recognition of the heterogeneous and multilocal nature of the uprisings, as well as their causes, has only marginally translated into serious European Neighbourhood Policy reform. We suggest that an inclusive focus on civil society would reveal Neighbourhood as a contact zone and dialogic space, rather than a project upon which the EU is (rather unsuccessfully) attempting to superimpose a unifying narrative of EU-led modernization.Csak helyi hálózaton érhető el / Restricted to LA

A magyar vidékfejlesztés sikereinek, kudarcainak speciális tényezői

    Get PDF
A vidékfejlesztési politika eredményeinek értékelésére sokféle módszer kínálkozik.
