Comparison of Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Decision Tree Methods in Lyme Disease Data Classification
Lyme Disease is a zoonotic infection caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, transmitted to humans through bites from ticks of the Ixodes genus. This disease can lead to serious complications affecting the nervous system, joints, skin, and heart if not diagnosed and treated early. However, early diagnosis remains a major challenge due to the non-specific nature of its initial symptoms, which often resemble other common illnesses. In this context, artificial intelligence approaches particularly classification methods in machine learning can assist in achieving faster and more accurate diagnosis and medical decision-making. This study aims to compare the performance of two classification algorithms, Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Decision Tree, in classifying the spread level of Lyme Disease cases using historical data from the United States. The dataset includes temporal and geographic attributes spanning the years 1992 to 2011. Model performance is evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The results indicate that the Decision Tree algorithm outperforms SVM in terms of classification accuracy and interpretability. This finding suggests that Decision Tree may be more suitable for integration into clinical decision support systems for Lyme Disease diagnosis
The Effect of Planting Distance and Urea Fertiliser Dosage on the Growth of Lemongrass in a Polyculture System
This study aimed to determine the effect of planting distance and urea fertilizer dosage on the growth of fragrant lemongrass in a polyculture cultivation system under rubber stands. The research was conducted on Jl. Sei Putih Rispa, Kelapa Satu Village, Galang District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, at an altitude of about 65 m above sea level from May to August 2025. The experiment used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: planting distance and urea dosage. Planting distance consisted of three levels, namely J1 (20 × 40 cm), J2 (20 × 60 cm), and J3 (20 × 80 cm). Urea dosage consisted of four levels: U0 (0 g/plant), U1 (5 g/plant), U2 (10 g/plant), and U3 (20 g/plant). These treatments produced 12 combinations with three replications, resulting in 36 plots, each with four samples, totaling 144 plants. Observations were made at harvest, including root fresh weight, shoot fresh weight, root volume, root dry weight, shoot dry weight, and root-shoot ratio. The results indicated that planting distance significantly influenced root fresh weight, shoot fresh weight, root volume, root dry weight, and shoot dry weight, whereas urea dosage did not show a significant effect on the measured parameters. The most favorable planting distance for fragrant lemongrass growth was 20 × 80 cm, followed by 20 × 60 cm, suggesting that wider spacing supported better plant development in a polyculture system under rubber stands

Tanaman angrek Cattleya labiata merupakan tanaman hias yang sangat menarik untuk dibudidayakan. Tanaman ini memberikan keindahan sedemikian rupa melalui bunganya yang besar, dan berwarna indah dengan bentuk beranekaragam, serta pemeliharaannya yang tidak begitu sulit. Graphical User Interface (GUI) Pada Python
Buku ini berisikan konsep Graphical User Interface (GUI) yang menggunakan pemrograman Python. Adapun contoh-contoh yang disertakan pada buku diaplikasikan melalui pemrograman offline. Untuk instalasi IDE Python bisa dipelajari di buku sebelumnya yakni Pengolahan Citra Digital Menggunakan Python. Pada bab 1, buku GUI ini membahas contoh dari pembuatan button dan label. Kemudian contoh selanjutnya, penulis menyampaikan bagaimana membuat dan Menyusun button. Button-button yang dibuat memilikik ukuran yang berbeda satu dan yang lainnya. Lalu pada contoh 3, penulis menampilkan pilihan button secara vertical dan horizontal. Contoh ke-4 merupakan penggunaan harian seperti memasukkan username dan password. Lalu pada contoh ke-5 dan 6 menampilkan proses kalkulasi sederhana seperti konversi mata uang dolar ke rupiah. Pada contoh ke-7 melampirkan contoh proses pendaftaran peminatan mahasiswa Teknik elektro. Kemudian contoh selanjutnya merupakan pembuatan widget yang relative yang dimana ukurannya dapat menyesuaikan dengan tampilan tanpa mengurangi informasi yang ada di dalamnya. Contoh ke-9 menampilkan pilihan dengan gaya radiobutton dan contoh ke-10 menampilkan pilihan dengan checkbox. Suatu pesan dapat juga ditampilkan dalam GUI dan dijelaskan pada contoh ke-11. Contoh ke-12 dan 13menampilkan pilihan dengan gaya scrollbar dan listbox. Penskalaan dapat ditampilkan dengan vertikal dan horizontal pada contoh ke-14. Kemudian progress bar menampilkan proses suatu system yang dijelaskan pada contoh ke-15. Contoh ke-16 menampilkan cara menyusun warna, sehingga dapat dikreasikan seperti chessboard. Dan terakhir adalah pilihan dengan menggunakan check button.Pada bab kedua dibahas khusus pengunaan GUI pada pengolahan citra digital. Contoh-contoh yang disertakan pada bab kedua sangat menolong untuk menampilkan input citra, membangun fungsi yang diperlukan dan menampilkan outputnya
Gambaran Pengetahuan Pasien Tentang Low-Intensity Physical Activity untuk Menurunkan Kadar Gula Darah di RSU Royal Prima Medan
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease caused by a metabolic disorder in which the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin or the body does not use the insulin produced effectively. As a result, there is an increase in blood glucose levels leading to hyperglycemia. Complications that arise include damage to the eyes, kidneys, and blood vessels accompanied by lesions on the basement membrane. Research Objective: to know the description of patients' knowledge about low-Intensity Physical Activity to lower blood sugar levels at RSU Royal Prima Medan. Research Method: This descriptive study is quantitative using experimental validity and reliability testing methods through observation and questionnaire interviews. The research population is diabetes mellitus patients at RSU Royal Prima Medan. The sampling technique used is non-probability with accidental sampling. The research results from 40 diabetes mellitus (DM) patients undergoing treatment in the inpatient ward showed that the majority of respondents had good knowledge, with 60% regarding low-intensity physical activities to lower blood sugar levels. The respondents' knowledge was influenced by factors such as education, age, sources of information, and the duration of suffering from diabetes mellitus. Respondents with higher education, aged 46-60, receiving information from health professionals, and suffering from diabetes mellitus for more than 5 years had a good level of knowledge. The measuring instruments used in this study have been tested for validity and consistency. Therefore, the results obtained are said to be valid and reliable
Efikasi Diri untuk Meningkatkan Kualitas Hidup Pasien Gagal Ginjal Kronik yang Menjalani Hemodialisis di RSU Royal Prima
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) can affect a diverse population worldwide. Individuals of all ages can experience chronic kidney disease, and both men and women can be involved. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition characterized by decreased kidney function and kidney damage that develops slowly over a long period of time. To understand self-efficacy to improve the quality of life of chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSU Royal Prima Medan. The design of this study was descriptive, involving 57 respondents who had been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The measuring instruments used in the study were the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires, with ChiSquare bivariate analysis. The results obtained were a relationship between selfefficacy to improve the quality of life of chronic kidney disease patients with a PValue below 0.05, namely 0.015 with univariate and bivariate data analysis. In the univariate analysis, good quality of life was found in 35 respondents (61.4%), poor quality of life was found in 22 respondents (38.6%). Bivariate analysis of optimism was found in 50 respondents (50.0), pessimism was found in 7 respondents (7.0). The characteristics of the respondents showed that most were in the age range of 46–60 years (42.1%), female (56.1%), and had undergone hemodialysis for 5–6 years (35.1%). The level of patient self-efficacy showed that most respondents had optimistic self-efficacy (87.7%), while a small number were pessimistic (12.3%). The majority of patients' quality of life was in the good category (61.4%), and the rest were in the poor category (38.6%). There was a tendency that higher self-efficacy (optimism) was associated with better quality of life. This shows that patient perception and self-confidence play an important role in improving quality of life during hemodialysis
Factors contributing to weight gain among students during the COVID-19 pandemic
Weight gain among students during the COVID-19 pandemic was largely attributed to lifestyle changes, including diet, sleep patterns, decreased physical activity, and increased gadget use. This study aimed to identify the factors influencing weight gain in students at SMKN 10 Medan. A quantitative methodology was employed, utilizing a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all students at SMKN 10 Medan, totaling 1,108 individuals. A sample of 294 students was selected using a random sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test and logistic regression. The results indicated that all variables were significantly related to student weight gain during the COVID-19 pandemic, with p-values for physical activity (p=0.036), breakfast habits (p=0.042), snacking habits (p=0.001), sleep patterns (p=0.001), and gadget use (p=0.001). The most influential factors contributing to student weight gain were identified as snacking habits and sleep patterns, which exhibited the lowest significance values. It can be concluded that snacking habits and sleep patterns are the predominant factors associated with weight gain among students at SMKN 10 Medan during the COVID-19 pandemic
Health service quality and outpatient hypertension patient satisfaction: A cross-sectional study
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of healthcare service quality on patient satisfaction among hypertensive outpatients at Muyang Kute Regional General Hospital. Employing a quantitative, cross-sectional design, data were collected from 79 patients using a questionnaire assessing five service quality dimensions (tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, empathy, and assurance) and overall patient satisfaction. Bivariate analysis, utilizing the chi-square test, was conducted to examine relationships between service quality dimensions and patient satisfaction. Results indicated generally positive perceptions of service quality dimensions, with tangibles, reliability, and assurance rated highly. However, empathy and responsiveness showed higher dissatisfaction rates. Notably, only assurance demonstrated a statistically significant association with patient satisfaction (p=0.002), where patients perceiving "Good" assurance were more likely to report satisfaction. Overall patient satisfaction was mixed, with 54.43% reporting satisfaction and 45.57% reporting dissatisfaction. The study highlights the critical role of staff competence and patient confidence (assurance) in driving satisfaction. Recommendations include targeted interventions to improve empathy and responsiveness, continuous monitoring of all service quality dimensions, and further investigation into potential underlying factors affecting overall satisfaction
Patient characteristics and satisfaction across different dimensions of healthcare for tuberculosis: A study at Puskesmas Polonia, Medan
Background: High-quality healthcare is vital for effective TB management. Patient satisfaction reflects service quality and influences treatment adherence. This study investigates the characteristics and satisfaction levels of pulmonary TB outpatients at Puskesmas Polonia, Medan, a high-burden facility. Aims: To describe the demographic characteristics of TB patients and analyze their satisfaction across various healthcare service dimensions (tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and operational satisfaction). Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2024 to January 2025, involving 82 pulmonary TB outpatients selected via purposive sampling. Data on patient characteristics and satisfaction (overall and by dimension, using a dichotomous scale) were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using univariate statistics. Results: The majority of the 82 TB patients were male (63.4%), with the largest age groups being 21-30 and 31-40 years (24.4% each). Most had upper secondary education (32.9%). Overall, 76.83% of patients reported satisfaction. Satisfaction levels varied across dimensions: assurance (83.0%) and reliability (79.0%) were highest, while operational satisfaction (67.0%) and responsiveness (71.0%) were lower. Conclusion: While overall satisfaction was high, specific service dimensions, particularly operational processes and responsiveness, require attention to enhance the patient experience for TB patients at Puskesmas Polonia. These findings can inform targeted interventions to improve service quality and support TB control efforts
Effectiveness of transdermal patch formulation of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. leaf extract as an antipyretic in male rats induced with DPT vaccine
Fever is characterized by an elevation of body temperature above the normal range of 37.5°C and represents a physiological response to various health conditions such as infections or other diseases. Antipyretic drugs, including paracetamol and ibuprofen, are commonly used to manage fever. Ethanol extract of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. (kembang sepatu) leaves contains bioactive compounds such as tannins, flavonoids, saponins, carbohydrates, steroids, phenols, glycosides, quinones, terpenoids, cyclopeptides, and alkaloids, which may confer natural antipyretic properties. In this study, 3% and 5% (w/w) Hibiscus rosa-sinensis leaf ethanol extracts were formulated into transdermal patches and evaluated for their antipyretic efficacy in male rats induced with the Diphtheria-Pertussis-Tetanus (DPT) vaccine. The dried Hibiscus rosa-sinensis leaves were macerated using 96% ethanol. The concentrated extract was formulated into a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC)-based transdermal patch. Phytochemical screening of the extract, stability testing of the transdermal patch, and statistical analysis of the antipyretic effect on DPT-induced male rats were conducted. Phytochemical screening of the 96% ethanol extract confirmed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, and saponins. The transdermal patch formulation demonstrated good stability over 21 days of storage. The 5% extract patch exhibited the highest antipyretic activity, significantly reducing fever in the experimental rats and showing effectiveness comparable to the positive control (paracetamol)
