Stok Sumberdaya Ikan Demersal Laut Dalam di Perairan ZEEI Samudera Hindia Sebelah Selatan Jawa
The objective of this research was to study about species composition, distribution, and stock density of deep sea demersal fish in the southern Java of the Indian Ocean EEZ waters. This research was carried out based on data collected from the survey conducted between September and October 2004 using Baruna Jaya IV research vessel. This study was basically conducted by applying swept area method with stratified random sampling. The result showed that the species composition of deep sea demersal fish in southern of Java waters were consisted of 169 fishes, 31 crustaceans and 20 cephalopods and the catch of deep sea demersal fish was dominated by ashiro (Ophidiidae) about 45 % and hair tail (Trichiurus lepturus) about 22 %. The widest of species distribution of these resources in southern of Java waters was Chlorophtalmus nigromarginatus. The highest abundance of deep sea resources were caught on the depth of 700-1100 m and the lowest on the depth 200-400 m. Stock density of these resources in southern off Java waters was ranged from 794-39863 kg/km²
Keanekaragaman Kupu-Kupu (Lepidoptera) pada Empat Tipe Habitat di Hutan Lindung Gunung Klabat, Sulawesi Utara
The objective of the research was to study the diversity of butterfly (Lepidoptera) in four habitat types in Mt Klabat protection forest, North Sulawesi. This research had been conducted over three months using a sweeping technique applied to follow the line transect length of 1000 meters at random in each habitat type (primary forest, secondary forest, gardens and shrubs). The results showed that there were 3 families namely Papilionidae, Nymphalidae and Pieridae, with the number of 29 species and 1014 individuals. The value of diversity based on Shannon and Wienner diversity index and the highest was found in the garden (H = 2,24) followed by shrubs (H = 2,12) and the lowest in secondary forests (H = 1,97). Based on the index Sorensen similarity (Cn) the composition of butterfly species found in primary forest has a high similarity value with secondary forest ((IS = 0,86), while the lowest among primary forest with garden (IS = 0,71). The result of This research is expected to be the basic data on butterfly diversity and effects of habitat changes on the diversity and distribution of butterfly in North Sulawes
Studi Persebaran dan Pemanfaatan Gayam [Inocarpus fagifer (Parkinson ex Zollinger) Fosberg] di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta
Study on ‘Distribution and Utilization of gayam [Inocarpus fagifer (Parkinson ex Zollinger) Fosberg] on several locations in Special Territory of Yogyakarta (DIY)’ was carried out from 15 until 20 September 2010. The method of this study was Purposive Random sampling and interview with local communities. The results showed that the DIY provincy was location of natural distribution of gayam. The population of gayam from each location is different, depend on soil condition and communities activities. The communities in Bantul, Sleman and Kulon Progo regencies have conserved gayam, with maintenanced gayam seedling which grew under gayam tree. Gayam grow well in sandy loam soil and silty loam soil with pH from acid till neutral. Generally this plant grow in moisture soil i.e. near water resource, a long of river bank and cannal. The chemical content of gayam seed consist of 74.87% carbohydrate, 11.63% protein, and 2.15% fat. The seed from Banjar Asri, Kulon Progo have the highest of carbohydrat (77.70%) from fresh fruit. Isolasi dan Identifikasi Kapang Saprofitik pada Sampel Tanah di Sekitar Kawasan Gunung Gamalama, Ternate
Microorganisms, such as mould and bacteria, have important roles in organic matter decomposition; and this process is fundamental to maintain soil structure and fertility. Moulds have hypha with filament structures that can penetrate to the substrates. Their enzymatic capability is higher than that of bacteria, especially in decomposing organic compounds like lignin and cellulose. The objective of the study was to isolate and identify saprophytic mould inhabiting soil of Mount Gamalama, Ternate, North Moluccas. The mould isolation was based on sample dillution method with Rose Bengal Cloramphenicol Agar isolation media. The abundance of saprophytic mould counted by measuring the average Colony Forming Unit (CFU)/ml of all mould colonies which grown on isolated media by Total Plate Count (TPC) method. The diversity of isolated mould was identified based on phenotypic characters by observing both macroscopic and microscopic morphology. The result showed that the average of mould colonies were between 13,30 x104 and 78,15 x104 CFU/ml. Identification based on morphology from selected mould isolates showed that 25 fungal taxa and two groups of unidentified fungal isolates were identified
Isolasi, Populasi, dan Karakterisasi Bakteri Rhizobium pada Daerah Perakaran dan Tanah dari Bengkulu, Sumatra
A study was conducted in order to know the isolation, population and characterization of Rhizobium bacteria on the soil and rhizosphere plant from Bengkulu, Sumatra. The purpose of the study to know the population of Rhizobium bacteria from rhizosphere plant, and the get pure culture. The sample was taken from 25 sample soil from rhizosphere of plant. Isolation was done in Rhizobium standart medium (YEMA) and the population was done with plate count methods. Incubation in room temperature of 27-280 C, after 7 days. The results showed that the population of Rhizobium bacteria the range 18-87 X 105 CFU/g soil. The highest population from the rhizosphere of Zea mays plant. Seventy five gave of pure culture. The growth characteristic the culture pure was observed by using YEMA medium mixed respectively with Brom Thymol Blue and Congo Red as indicators. Seventy five gave of culture pure, nine isolates can be grouped slow growing, while sixty six can be grouped as fast growing
Pengaruh Kerapatan Populasi Tanaman Sela dan Mulsa Plastik terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Jagung
Research of plant population density and intercropping of pigeon pie (Cajanus cajan L.) Millsp. and plastic mulching on maize were carried out in field research of R and D Centre for Biology, Indonesian Institute of Sciences, Cibinong from October 2008 to Februari 2009. The aim was to examine the effects of plant population density and intercropping, as well as mulching to the growth and yield of maize. The resultas showed that population density, intercropping and mulching affected the maize vegetative growth. However, the maize yield was not influenced by population density; but was influenced by intercropping and mulching. Mulching increased maize production, but intercropping by using C. cajan decreased production
Perubahan Lingkungan Ekosistem Sungai Belawan terhadap Kualitas Air dan Keanekaragaman Makrozoobenthos sebagai Bioindikator
The sampling technique of this research was purposive random sampling with 4 stations. The results showed that there were 23 genera of macrozoobenthic, which were categorized into 3 phyla, 5 classes, 10 orders, 18 families. The highest density population index was shown by Terebralia 92,59 ind./m2 (station IV) and the lowest was by Littorinia, Natica, Telescopium, dan Oleacinar 3,70 ind/m2 (station IV). The diversity index of macrozoobenthic was low, ranged from 0,86 to 1,85 and the evenness were high except station IV (0,40). Similarity index of stations I and II was 21,05, stations I and was III 42,85. This means that no resemblance was observed between those stations.. Stations II and III 53,33 were resemble. The pollution of diversity macrozoobenthic was mediumness, and station IV was heavyness of pollution. Macrozoobenthic as bioindicators was Planaria, physa, dan Sphaerium. Effected by quality of water such as; pH, DO, and CO
Peran Paklobutrazol dan Pupuk dalam Mengendalikan Tinggi Tanaman dan Kualitas Bunga Krisan Pot
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of paklopbutrazol concentration and fertilizer on plant height and flower quality of potted chrysanthemum. The experimental method was used with factorial design. The first factor was paklobutrazol with the concentration as follow: 0, 100, 200, and 300 ppm. The second factors were cow, chicken, and goat manure. Parameters observed were plant height, time of flowers emerging, flower diameter and freshness. The results showed that certain concentration of paklobutrazol might inhibited plant height, time of flowers emerging, and shortening of flowers freshness, while chicken manure fertilizer spurred flower diameter
Penentuan Konduktivitas Listrik dan Frekuensi Karakteristik Sel Ragi dengan Memanfaatkan Proses Dielektroforesis
Dielectrophorestic (DEP), a phenomenon where small particles such as yeast cells are manipulated by non-uniform electric fields. The net dielectrophoretic force is proportional to the polarisability of the cell and cause this cell moving toward higher field. By measuring velocity of the cell on the various frequency of the electric field, it can determine the electrical conductivity and the characteristic frequency of the yeast cells. The results showed that the conductivity of the yeast cell was (10,0 ± 0,4)10-9 Sm-1 and the characteristic frequency was 60 kHz
The Diversity of Plankton in Sangihe – Sangir Talaud Islands, Sulawesi, Indonesia
The research of Oceanographical Expedition was conducted on May 2009. Research Vessel of Baruna Jaya VIII was used to accommodate the research team, which is a part of the EWIN ( Widya Nusantara Expedition) project with a topic of discovering the ultimate frontier of Indonesia and strengthening our national resilience, such as survival, energy, and natural resources, food, disaster, and health. This paper shows plankton research with environment studies, such as temperature and salinity. Plankton was sampled using Kitahara Net with mesh size of 80 µm for phytoplankton and Norpac Plankton Net with mesh size of 300 µm for zooplankton. The sample was poured into a bottle with formalin of 4% as preservative from 13 stations. The results showed that the phytoplanktons consist of 22 diatom genera and 10 dinoflagellates. The phytoplankton abundance was due the flourishing of Chaetoceros sp., Rhizosolenia sp., Nitzschia sp., and Thalassiothrix sp. Ceratium sp. and Protoperidinium sp., Pyrocystis sp., and Cyanobacteria Trichodesmium sp. were common among the dinoflagellates. The zooplanktons consist of 30 taxa, the group of which are mostly composed of Copepoda, Calanoida, Cyclopoida, Oikopleura, and Chaetognata. Environmental studies were also discussed.
