    Fattening Management of Independent Broiler Chicken Business (case study in a ranch owned by Mr. Andi Mukri in Anaiwoi Neighborhoods of Tanggetada District)

    The research was conducted to find out maintenance management at the farms of Mr. Andi Mukri.  The research was conducted in July 2018.  Data were analyzed quantitatively and descriptively.  The parameters observed included feed consumption, harvest age, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and mortality.  The results showed that the broiler chicken farm business of Andi Mukri was an individual household business which kept as many as 500 birds with a cage size of 15 meters x 8 meters.  The average body weight on the 22nd days is 956,5 grams, and on the 42nd day, it reaches 4231,4 grams whereas, on the 35th day it is 175,4 grams/week and the 42nd day is 1115,8 grams/week.  FCR of 0,7 %, mortality 0,8 %, age of harvest begins on day 24 to day 42

    The variety of maize in Southwest Maluku (MBD) has an ability to grow in the extremely dry land, especially at Kisar island, because those areas were dominated by dry land. Dry resistance very useful to be used for genetical characterization in order to provide accurate data about the character of local maize Kisar var. Kuning Genjah. To identify the characteristics at the genome level of this local maize variety, one of the molecular methods that can be applied was RAPD molecular method. The advantage of the RAPD marker is it's technically simpler and fast in testing, does not require DNA sequence information, hence this marker becomes widely used, it only requires a small sample of DNA, the primary is commercially available and does not use radioactive compounds. The aim of this study was to find out the bands profile that has the potential to be used as a marker of dry resistance. The method applied was RAPD (Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA) using OPA-02, OPA-07, and OPC-12 primers and produces 22 DNA bands. The measurement of bands by estimating the molecular weight based on marker exponential regression. The polymorphic percentage was 90.9% between var. Kuning genjah and var. BIZI-II-Hybrid.     The aim of this study was to find out the role of instrumental motivation in the English learning process of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. Motivation can be described as a process to influence someone or many people to do the desired work, in accordance with certain goals set in advance.  For EFL student, motivation was required to achieve success in the process of learning English. Based on the previous study, kind of motivation, called Instrumental motivation, has an important role in English learning process. The participants of the study were 10 EFL students; 5 students were from post-graduate program of English Department of Syiah Kuala University and 5 students were from undergraduate program of English Department of UIN Ar-Raniry. This qualitative study applied interview to gather data. The result of the study revealed that the participants have a strong instrumental motivation involved in their English learning process. Considering the results of this study, everyone, whether parents and teachers need to motivate their children and their EFL students by motivating them instrumentally in the process of learning and teaching English

    The objective to be achieved is to determine the contribution of oil palm farmers' income to the total income of farmers in Pewisoa Jaya Village, Tanggetada District, Kolaka Regency. To determine the income distribution of oil palm farmers in Pewisoa Jaya Village, Tanggetada District, Kolaka Regency. on the results of the study it can be concluded that the contribution and distribution of income of oil palm farmers is 25,10 % harvest season, the average income of oil palm farmers is 61,42 % per harvest year while the contribution of oil palm farming is 25.10% of the total income of oil palm farmers, and the distribution of income of oil palm farmers is 0.004. the condition is still very low or the community is less prosperous in Pewisoa Jaya Village, Tanggetada District, Kolaka Regenc

    Plant Growth Analysis of Jack Been (Canavalia ensiformis L.) at Different Spacing to Determine the Application Time of Cutback Technology

    AbstractThe growth of jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis L) is affected by genetic and environmental factors.  One of the environmental factors involved is growing space. Growing space related to each plant of areas occupied is stated by the distance between plants. A Research has been conducted as long three months in dry season with average daily temperature of 25 to 31OC on altitude of 25 to 500 meter, to determine the timing of the application of cutback technology based on an analysis of growth of jack bean plants (Canavalia ensiformis L) in different growth spaces.  The research was conducted in the trial form using a randomized block design. Variables of plants growth analysis observed is leaf area index (LAI), leaf area is computed by gravimetric method; net assimilation rate (NAR), and relative growth rate (RGR) is determined based on the dry weight of plants; in all three rooms grew, namely 75 cm x 100 cm (control), 75 cm × 75 cm and 75 cm × 50 cm, each repeated three times. The result shows that the trend of leaf area index increased at net assimilation rate (g-1.cm-2.week-1) and relative growth rate (g-1.g-1.minggu-1) decreasing at the time the plant to the age 8 weeks after planting.  The best time for the application of reduction technology to jack bean plants (Canavalia ensiformis L) in all tested growing spaces, is recommended when plants are between 7 and 8 weeks after plantin

    Since the development of information technology grows rapidly, the educational institutions are offered various media or tools of instruction supporting and enhancing teaching and learning process. E-textbooks are a variety of technology which changes the experience of classroom language from traditional into paperless in reading classroom. This technology facilitates the teacher and the students to utilize computer and paper-based reading tasks in realizing the functions of the e-learning environment. It creates an atmosphere of independent acquisition and quality pedagogical strategies which can improve the efficiency of teaching and learning. The use of electronic textbook completed by hypertext and multimedia tools clearly demonstrated the advantage of this technology compared with traditional textbooks. This research is about the teacher and students’ views on using e-textbooks for reading in EFL classroom. This research aims to identify, describe, and analyze teacher and students’ perceptions on using e-textbooks technology as the paper textbooks in teaching and learning reading for Indonesian lower secondary school. Mix method of qualitative and quantitative was applied in the research. The research was conducted on an English teacher and the twenty-five eighth-grade students who used e-textbooks in reading classroom of Islamic junior high school in Lampung, Indonesian. The techniques of data collection used were interviews, questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the teacher and majority of the students had a good perception of using e-textbooks. Considering insufficiently available textbooks provided by the government which do not meet students’ need and interest, the teacher should find out and develop many other resources for teaching and learning in the classroom. However, e-textbook technology will not displace traditional paper textbooks in the future, but they will become the perfect complement to paper textbooks

    White Jabon  (Anthochepalus cadamba Miq).  is one of the tree species that has high prospects for industrial plantations and reforestation (greening) in Indonesia because it has very fast growth, very good adaptability. Disorders of plant disturbance organisms most commonly found in Jabon, Jabon caterpillar (Arthroschista hilaralis) become a major problem that can reduce the quality and quantity of wood. Pest control with chemicals does not provide maximum results so it is necessary to test with biopesticides. The study to examine the effect of gamal leaf extract as a natural insecticide was carried out using a completely randomized design with four treatments, namely the concentration of gamal leaf extract 0% (P0), 50% (P1), 75% (P2), 100% (P3). The results showed that gamal leaf extract as a vegetable insecticide had a positive effect on the mortality of A. hilaralis larvae in Jabon plants. The higher the concentration of gamal leaf extract, the higher the mortality rate in A. hilaralis larvae. This can be seen in the most effective concentration is the concentration of 100% with a mortality rate of 95%. The highest total mortality of A. hilaralis larvae occurred at a concentration of 100% ie 2.1 head / day. The higher the concentration of gamal leaf extract, the higher the speed of death of the larva

    The Use Of Probing-Prompting Learning Strategy To Improve Biology Learning Outcomes Of Class XI IPA 3 Students At SMA Negeri 5 Kendari

    The purpose of the study was to improve the biology learning outcomes of students in class XI IPA 3 at SMA Negeri 5 Kendari. This study was conducted in the second semester of the academic year 2013/2014. The research design of this study was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with three learning cycles. Each cycle goes through four stages: (1) planning; (2) implementing actions; (3) observation and evaluation; and (4) reflection. The data source of this study were students who were measured by using the learning outcomes test of the cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Biology learning outcomes of Class XI IPA3 students at SMA Negeri 5 Kendari taught using the Probing-Prompting learning strategy showed an increase in each cycle namely cycle I by 71.78%, cycle II by 86.35%, and in cycle III it reached an average of 87 47%. Based on the results of the study concluded that the Probing-Prompting learning strategy could improve the learning outcomes of biology students of class XI IPA3 SMA Negeri 5 Kendari.  Keywords: Probing-Prompting Strategies, Learning Outcomes Â

    A Content Analysis of "Joyful" English Textbook for Primary Grade II

    It is widely known that textbook holds an important role as one of learning sources in education. Textbooks used in schools must be compatible with 2013 curriculum, the newest curriculum applied in Indonesia. But it is found that some teachers complained how the content of textbooks doesn’t fit the objectives specified in 2013 curriculum. Therefore, research regarding analysis of textbook content feasibility is crucial to be conducted to decide whether a particular textbook feasible to be used for academic purposes. In this research, the researchers chose “Joyful†English textbook for Primary Grade II as the research object. The analysis was based on BSNP textbook content feasibility rubric which includes the compatibility of materials with KI and KD, the accuracy of materials and supporting materials. The aim of this research is to know how “Joyful†English textbook for Primary Grade II fulfill the textbook content feasibility specified in 2013 curriculum. Qualitative approach was applied in this research. The method used was content analysis method. In collecting the data, the technique used by the researchers was documentation. The data was analyzed using document checklist and percentage formula. The results showed that “Joyful†English textbook for Primary Grade II fulfills the textbook content feasibility by 79,17% so it was concluded that “Joyful†English textbook for Primary Grade II is feasible to be used at schools. However, because it isn’t 100% feasible, the researchers encouraged English teachers who want to use “Joyful†English textbook for Primary Grade II to cover the weaknesses by finding another learning source relevant to the learning objectives specified in 2013 curriculum.Â

    Selection of Chilli Pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) for Salinity Tolerance in Seed Germination

    The obstacle of chilli pepper development in saline is that there is no salinity tolerant variety, so it is necessary to assemble tolerant varieties. Information on tolerant genotypes, selection criteria and determination of new selection methods at the germination level are needed to make it easier for breeders to select prospective tolerant varieties early. This study aims to determine tolerant genotypes, appropriate selection criteria and NaCl concentrations used for selection at the germination level. The study was arranged based on a completely randomized design with two factors: NaCl concentration and some chilli pepper genotypes. NaCl solution concentrations consist of five concentrations of N0: 0 g L-1 (EC 291 µS/cm, SAL 0,10), N1: 2 g L-1 (EC 3,71 ms/cm, SAL 2,0), N2: 4 g L-1(EC 6,60 mS/cm, SAL 3,60), N3: 6 g L-1 (EC 9,56 mS/cm, SAL 5,40) and N4: 8 g L-1 (EC 12,45 mS/cm SAL 5,40). The second factor is the genotype of chilli pepper consisting of 22 genotypes. The results showed that the most tolerant genotypes were G4, G7 and G15. Characters that can be used as selection criteria at the germination level are the percentage of germination, radical and hypocotyl length. The concentration of 8 g NaCl L-1 is effectively used to select tolerant genotype
