Zakat-Based and Community-Based Society Empowerment
The existence of zakat institutions as one of the society empowerment institutions plays an important role in maintaining social stability to minimize disparity in the society. LAZ Harfa is one of the zakat institutions which are currently conducting empowerment in Pandeglang Regency through the improvement of quality of life of the society by changing people's behaviour to live healthier lives. In addition, LAZ Harfa also conducts economic empowerment to meet the daily needs of the society. Therefore, this research tries to describe an empowerment process carried out by LAZ Harfa as a zakat institution in improving the quality of life through zakat-based and community-based society empowerment activities in Pandeglang Regency. The method used in this study was a qualitative research method by using NVivo 11 software for analysing the data
The Role of Local Language in Intercultural Communication among Societies of Buru Island
The cross-cultural communication often triggers the inter-community conflict. This research aimed at exploring the process and the function of the intercultural communication amongst societies in Buru Island. The subject of the study was the societies of Bassalale Village which has a diversity of the cultural background. This research employed a descriptive qualitative design. The researchers were applicable as the principal investigators (key instrument) which conduct the research process directly and actively in observing, interviewing, and gathering various materials relating to the intercultural communication among societies in Buru Island. To analyze the data, the researchers applied a model analysis by Miles and Huberman which consist of three elements; they are data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results found that the role of Buru language in the intercultural communication process occurred through adjusting to other culture and trying to understand the other’s culture. The role of Buru language in intercultural communication are; a) social identity; b) social integration; c) cognitive, and d) escape function. Thus, the local language played an important role as a unifier of a multicultural society
GROUNDWATER USE ZONING MAPPING USING GEOMORPHOLOGICAL APPROACH FOR HANDLING THE WATER CRISIS: STUDY CASE OF KECAMATAN PAGAK, KABUPATEN MALANG
Kecamatan Pagak, Kabupaten Malang is an area which is dominated by karst landform. Basically, Karst is landform which is vulnerable to drought for the very minimum of waterflow surface. Â Underground river flows are more developed in karst landforms due to the large number of fractures. Based on these problems, this research seeks to solve the problem of water crisis in karst landforms by utilizing groundwater. It chose geomorphological approach to find the highly potential groundwater landforms so that these they can be used as groundwater infiltration zones. Geomorphological mapping is carried out by identifying aspects of morphology, morphogenesis, morphoarrangement, and morphocronology. Through the geomorphological mapping, it was obtained nine units of landforms in the research area. The P4Fv1 landforms are units that have high groundwater potential which can be utilized in large quantities
Pre-service Teachers’ Responses to Peer Spoken Feedback in Micro Teaching Class
Feedback has been investigating for many years. Previous studies have proved that feedback is a powerful tool which teacher can use to foster students’ achievement. Students can obtain feedback from their peers, teachers, or themselves as a reflection. Feedback can be given through different mode, namely, written or spoken. This survey research aims to examine pre-service teachers’ responses to peer spoken feedback in micro teaching class. This research was conducted in Micro Teaching class F at English Language and Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma University. There were twenty-three participants in this study. Questionnaire and interview were used to gather the data. Based on the findings, the students have positive response towards the use of peer spoken feedback in micro teaching class. The students’ positive response can be seen from their attitude and motivation. The students have positive attitude to the use of peer spoken feedback. They were pleased in the peer spoken feedback activity. The students willing to engage in the activity of peer spoken feedback as well. The students showed the desired response. Through attainning peer spoken feedback, the students became more well-prapared in the teaching practice. Moreover, the students were motivated to perform a better teaching perfromance in the next teaching practice. Key Words: micro teaching, peer spoken feedback, respons
Implementation of Chrysanthemum Post-Harvest Technology in Tomohon City to Extend Storage Time
Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora) is an ornamental plant that has high economic value, including flowers that are in great demand at domestic or abroad. As cut flowers, chrysanthemums are used for decoration and flower arrangements at weddings, and for opening new offices. The quality of cut flowers depends on the appearance and durability of freshness. Flowers with prime quality have a higher sale value compared to low-quality cut flowers. To maintain the quality of prime cut flowers still need to be implemented several treatments, especially when the flowers are ready to harvest to the consumers. The handling of post-harvest chrysanthemums is an important factor that is inseparable from the stages of cultivation and greatly influences the selling value and added value that will be obtained by farmers and traders. The use of pulsing and holding liquid during display will extend the chrysanthemum vase life. By implementing post-harvest chrysanthemums in accordance with handling procedures (SOP), chrysanthemums will be obtained that can meet quality standards and can provide added value for farmers and flower trader
The Politeness of Language in The Interaction of Buying And Selling Airplane Tickets in Brint One Travel, Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi
Politeness politeness is very important for the continuity of daily communication. Therefore, attention needs to be paid to in the form of research on the politeness of the language of various community groups. This study aims to describe the compliance and violation of the language politeness principle in the interaction of buying and selling airplane tickets at Brint One Travel Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi. This study also aims to describe whether the seller applies the principle of politeness in the language of serving the buyer. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Research data in the form of speech conversations between employees of Kolint Brint One Travel and buyers of airplane tickets. The research data were analyzed based on the principle of politeness in language according to Leech. The results showed that the obedience of the language politeness principle in the interaction of buying and selling airplane tickets at Brint One Travel Kolaka included the maxim of wisdom maxim, generosity maxim, appreciation maxim, humility maxim, compatibility maxim, and sympathy maxim. Violation of the principle of politeness in language in the interaction of buying and selling airplane tickets at Brint One Travel Kolaka includes violations of the maxim of wisdom and maxim of appreciation. Brint One Travel Kolaka employees apply the principle of politeness in serving the buyer and do not violate the politeness principle
Physiological Response of Reared Bali Cattle Based on Different Peat Land Characteristics
This study aimed to investigate the effect of microclimate conditions within cattle houses at wet peatlands and dry peatlands on Bali cow's physiological responses. The study was carried out from November 2017 to February 2018 in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. There were 58 heads of Bali cows used in this study, comprising 38 cattle at wet peatland in Jabiren Raya sub-district and 20 animals at a dry bog in Maliku sub-district. The observed parameters included microclimate conditions. It was air temperature, humidity, and temperature-humidity index, THI and wind speed, physiological responses (respiratory rate, pulse, and rectal temperature) and leucocyte (neutrophils, lymphocytes, and neutrophils/lymphocytes ratio). The results indicated that the morning microclimate at wet peatland showed significantly (p0.05) lower humidity, higher THI, and wind speed than that at dry land. The marked difference of microclimate between the two locations in the afternoon occurred only on wind speed. There were differences between dry and wet peatlands in Bali cow's physiological responses, including respiration rate in the morning, the pulse at noon, rectal temperature in the afternoon, and leucocyte. However, the local cattle' physiological responses kept in wet and dry peatland were still under normal conditions
Technology Innovation Support in Development of Local Superior Shallot in North Sulawesi
The need for Shallot at the community level continues to increase every year in line with the increase in population. Shallots are used as cooking spices and used in the herbal medicine industry. Minahasa Regency is one of the centers of shallot development in North Sulawesi, where production at the farm level is still below the average of 7-8 t/ha. For this reason, a breakthrough in cultivation technology innovation is needed to increase yields. This writing aims to provide information on technological innovation support in the effort to develop local superior shallots in North Sulawesi and to see the results of farming from the application of the technology. The data obtained from the results of interviews and research results both conducted by the North Sulawesi AIAT Assessment Team and other research results. The support of technological innovation in efforts to develop shallots is the application of onion PTT Innovations: land management, preparation of plant spacing, use of certified seeds, planting and fertilizing, watering and controlling weeds, controlling plant pests, harvesting and post-harvesting. The conclusions obtained by the application of PTT shallots, which were examined by BPTP North Sulawesi using local varieties Lansuna. The B / C ratio is 4.23 by giving an income of Rp. 273,058,000 compared to the way of farmers where B / C ratio = 2.23 with income of Rp. 138,233,000 / hectar
HYDROLOGICAL STUDY ON LIMESTONE MINE DRAINAGE SYSTEM IN PT. ADS - SOUTH SUMATERA
The groundwater availability in an area with mineral deposits is measured by the geological and geomorphological characteristics of the area. The hydrological study on limestone mining in PT. ADS, South Sumatera aimed to acquire data and information regarding rainfall characteristics, drainage basin and catchment area, infiltration value, and surface water flow pattern at the limestone mining site and nearby area; this is to formulate a basis of reference in creating drainage system. The study employed Extreme Value Gumbel formula to analyze the expected daily rainfall. A calculation on the rainfall return period relied on two factors, i.e., the planned mining duration and natural events, such as seasonal flood per two years. Moreover, Mononobe formula was used to calculate and convert the daily rainfall intensity in the form of hourly rate. The mine drainage system was regarded necessary in the site since the watery area is potential to hinder the production as well as to cause work accidents; on top of that, the terrain is dominated by relief of wavy hills with varying waves and slopes ranging from 10°-70°
Data Normality Detection Using the Graph Method
The main purpose of this research is to offer a normality test using the graph method. The steps taken by the researcher are conducting a literature study on the normality test of the data. Look for the advantages and disadvantages of each method and compare with other graphics methods such as QQ-Plot and PP-Plot. The last step is to simulate data using the proposed method and then compare the results with other methods and draw conclusions from the results obtained.From the results of the literature study, we found a way to test data only by looking at the graph. The graph that appears when testing the data has three lines. The graph that appears when testing the data has three lines. They are upper, middle and bottom lines.If all data entered in the upper and lower boundary environment, it can be concluded that the data is normally distributed. Using this method, the normal detection of data can be seen only through a graph and the results are more accurate than the Kolmogorov-Smirnov method is some cases
