An analysis of Idiom Using In “The Rising of The Shield Hero”
Get PDFThis study aims to find out the use, contextual meaning, and types of idioms in a film titled "The Rising of the Shield Hero". An idiom is an expression that contains words, phrases or clauses that often use figurative language that is often used in communication. The meaning of an idiom is very different from the literal meaning, the idiom itself does not describe one of the words that form it. The researcher used the theory of idiom types based on Boatner and Gates and contextual meaning based on Parera. The purpose of this research; identify what types of idioms in the film, and analyze the contextual meaning in the film. This research is qualitative method, the data has been taken from the film script and analyzed. The result is indicate that idioms can be found in each forms with idiom identified in the film: there are 72 idioms in 4 forms, 52 lexemic idioms, 16 phraseological idioms, 1 frozen idiom, 3 proverbs. The most idiom are lexemic and it is hard to find frozen idioms. Finally, all of these idioms have related meanings based on the contextual meaning in the film

Padang Sehati adalah hasil dari kendala kota Padang yang paling menjadi seperti: Kurangnya tenaga kerja dan keterampilan, keterbatasan anggaran, berapa kali terjadinya karyawan, dan sering terjadi keterlambatan pelaporan UKL dan UPL. Disarankan kepada Bapedalda Kota Padang untuk menambah petugas yang akan ditempatkan di Wilayah Pengawasan dan Operasi Lingkungan
An Analysis of Students’ Reading Comprehension in Narrative Text at Second Grade At SMAN 1 Talamau
Get PDFThis research was conducted based on the problems found during the teaching and learning process in class IX IPS 1 of SMAN 1 Talamau, specifically about students\u27 understanding of narrative text. The problem found is that students cannot determine the main ideas and topics in narrative text, understand the meaning of words, understand implied information, and understand the general structure and features of language in narrative texts.This research is included in quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were students of class IX SMAN 1 Talamau, amounting to 159 people, divided into 4 classes. While this sample is class X8 of SMAN 8 Padang. The instrument used was an objective test. Data from students\u27 objective tests are analyzed based on indicators and then interpreted and become research findings.Based on the results of the study showed that students of class IX IPS 1 SMAN 1 Talamau: 1. The ability to write students in determining the main ideas and topics in the narrative text showed at the intermediate level of 14 people out of 23 students (60,875%). 2. The ability to understand the meaning of words in the narrative text shows at the intermediate level that is 15 people out of 23 students (65.22%). 3. The ability to understand the information implicit in the narrative text shows that at the intermediate level, there are 14 out of 23 students (60.87%). 4. The ability to understand the general structure and language features of narrative texts shows that at the intermediate level, there are 16 students out of 23 students (69.57).From the results of the above research, it can be concluded that students still experience many difficulties in understanding a text, especially in narrative texts in accordance with applicable rules. Furthermore, based on the results of this study teachers are expected to be able to provide better teaching techniques and students can do more exercises to improve students\u27 reading comprehension abilities
Efektifitas Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Scramble Dalam Pembelajaran Matematika

How is the teacher\u27s activity in the application of a scramble type cooperative learning model on Mathematics learning in class XI SMK Cendana Padangpanjang 2017/2018 Academic Year? 2). How is the activity of students in the application of scramble type cooperative learning models in mathematics learning in class XI SMK Cendana Padangpanjang class year 2017/2018, 3). Are students\u27 mathematics learning outcomes using a scramble type cooperative model on effective mathematics learning to improve mathematics learning outcomes in the cognitive domain? To test the validity of the hypothesis the pretest and posttest values were analyzed using the t-test. Obtained then rejected and be accepted . This has the effect of increasing the percentage of good completeness as much as 75% of the mathematics learning outcomes. From the results of data analysis it can be concluded that by applying the Scramble Type Cooperative learning model has a good effect on students\u27 mathematics learning outcomes in class XI TKJ SMK Cendana Padangpanjan

Conversational Implicature In Indonesian President Candidates Debate on Metro Tv
Get PDFThe purpose of this research is to identify kinds and meaning of conversational implicature, especially in President Candidates’ utterances based on context that used in the Indonesian President Candidates Debate on June 2014 in METROTV Television. The data is obtained by identifying the utterances that have implicature, in videos form that have been recorded via mobile phone and downloaded from social media site, it means to make easy in identifying. Then, the identified data are transcribed and analyzed by using Yule’s theory and some books that related and supported the theory. Next, the data analysis is presented by using informal method. The result of the analysis shows that President Candidates’ utterances in the debate contain two kinds on conversational implicature. They are, particularized conversational implicature, it is an implicature that can be assumed by knowing the specific context and also needs special knowledge of the listener. Then, generalized conversational implicature, it is an implicature that does not need context to assume the utterance
Analysis of The English Open Compound Words

Where the morphology is the study of morphemes, and morphemes are elements of language that have meaning and contribute to support meaning. The morphology field will involve two elements, namely the free element and the bound element. The problem in this study is to analyze the compound word found in the Jakarta post. The word compound which is discussed is the compound word that is open (separate word writing).This research is a type of research belonging to the field of linguistics. This study also uses Qualitative Descriptive research methods. This research method refers to the form of the word. In addition, this research also uses library research or library research. Putaka\u27s research only discusses the data that has been provided by processing and donating data obtained from data sources by using the basic theory that supports the research. In this study the writer took data sources from one edition of the Jakarta Post.
All data needed comes from the data source.The initial step used by the writer is to extract raw data taken from the source. After all the raw data is collected, the author will classify the data in several groups. Since the writer only discusses three topic issues, the information is in accordance with the problem. The first problem is the form of the compound word separated which is found in the Jakarta Post Newspaper. Second is what is the meaning of the compound words before and after combined. And the last is the rule that is owned by the compound. Based on this research, the writer find the uniqueness that results from a separate word combination. Among them is if one word is combined with another word it will have a different meaning. Based on this research the author understands in depth about the separate word combination

Get PDFBackground of the problem of the research were: 1) writing an argumentation is a difficult thing for the students, 2) less interest of the students in writing argumentation, 3) students lack master and knowledge of good writing concepts. The pupose of this research is to find out how much the contribution of the master of writing concepts to the ability to write essays in class X MA Negeri X Koto Singkarak.
Population of the correlation research is the students of into students of grade X MA Negeri X Koto Singkarak sub province of Solok year 2016/2017 with the total sample 40 students. Technique of the taking sample used is total sampling. Instruments of the research used are objective test of mastery of the writing concept and performance tests for writing essay arguments. This Research data in the form of score that have been converted into scores.Data analysis techniques by changing scores into grades. Testing requirements analysis (homogenety test normality test and linearity test) and hypothesis testing Pearson Product Moment (PPM).
The Result of the research concluded that writing concept shows the significant contribution in 29,59% into writing ability of an argumentation. The findings of this research indicate that the hinger the level of master of syudent’ writinh concepts, the hinger the ability to write essays of argumentation. Therefore, The teacher is advised to pay attention to the master of students’ writing concepts and Gide encouragement to students to do writing avtivties so that their argument writing abilities improve
The Effect of Questioning Strategy and Students\u27 Motivation Toward Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text at The Eleventh Grade Social Science of SMA Negeri 1 Talamau Pasaman Barat
Get PDFIn teaching reading comprehension, teaching strategy and motivation influence students’ reading comprehension. Strategy which was used in this experimental research was Questioning strategy. Questioning strategy can be used as a variation of teaching strategy in teaching reading comprehension. The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of questioning strategy and students’ motivation toward reading comprehension of narrative text. This research was an experimental research with factorial design 2x2. It was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Talamau Pasaman Barat. The population of this research was eleventh grade social science students with total population of 40 students. The sample was taken by using total sampling; so all of population was taken as sample. XI IPS 2 was experimental class and XI IPS 1 as control class. The instruments of this research were reading comprehension test and questionnaire. The data was analyzed by two ways ANOVA (ANOVA 2x2). The results of this research are (1) Reading comprehension of students who are taught by questioning strategy is better than reading comprehension of students who are taught by conventional strategy. Fo = 196.582 > Ft = 2.69, it means that Ha is accepted. (2) There is no interaction between strategy and students’ motivation toward reading comprehension. Fo = 0.012 < Ft = 2.69, it means that Ha is rejected. When no interaction is present it means that these two strategies did not influence each other so we do not need to continue for hypothesis 3 and hypothesis 4. In short; questioning strategy can be used as a teaching strategy in teaching reading comprehension at SMA Negeri 1 Talamau Pasaman Barat. Other researchers are suggested to do futher research about questioning strategy dealing with of the skills

Get PDFIn writing this thesis, the writer discusses the depression of women because of patriarchal traditions, even though they already know about women\u27s rights and freedoms. This patriarchal tradition is that men hold full power over anything and women must always obey the rules of men. The women are required not to do any activities, in terms of education and employment. Women are only allowed to do homework. This applies to all women, both single and married. This began in the 90s, especially in the United States.
In writing the thesis, the writer uses psychological and feminist theories according to Sigmund Freud and Maggie Humm, who will explore the psychological side of women who are oppressed by the existence of this patriarchal custom. The purposes of this paper are: (1) To describe psychological-feminist cases in female characters (2) To analyze psychological-feminists in depressed female characters (3) To explain the psychological-feminist influence with female characters in the short story of The Yellow Wallpaper from Charlotte Perkins Gilman, A Rose For Emily from William Faulkner, The Story Of An Hour by Kate Chopin. The author uses descriptive qualitative methods in processing data. Through analysis of several existing sources and data.
Based on available data, the writer discover how the psychology of depressed female characters from their environment is intimidated based on the short story. In fact women can become depressed because their freedom of expression is hampered and prohibited by tradition. With the writing of this thesis, it is hoped that the public can find out what exactly the meaning of women\u27s emancipation is without having to put down women or men
