Get PDFThe problem in this thesis is the analysis of ideal feminist and discriminated feminist from the characteristics of Amanda and Laura is based on the three waves of feminist movements. Both Amanda and Laura represents the different kinds of feminist in literaty work, Amanda is the strong woman as the representation of ideal feminist, whereas Laura is the weak woman as the representation of discriminated feminist. Then, the purpose of research is to describe Laura as the discriminated feminist, Amanda as the ideal feminist, and to explain Laura and Amanda as the ideal and discriminated feminist from The Glass Menagerie.In research methodology, the data collection is performed through library research, which the writer gains the data and information about his object trought the books and other audiovisual equipment that related and relavant to the topic in the form of words or pictures. In the data analysis, it uses genetic structuralism, it looks the external factor of the literature that conveys the internal element of literary work such the actions of the main character, such as characters and author.
The findings in this thesis can be seen from the characters of Amanda and Laura represents the different kinds of feminist in literaty work, Amanda is the strong woman as the representation of ideal feminist, whereas Laura is the weak woman as the representation of discriminated feminist. Amanda, a typical southern belle, trapped by the cruel reality, seeks comfort from her glorious past and causes her isolation from her life, which is the embodiment of her alienation. Laura, a fragile and terribly shy girl with a crippled leg, withdraws completely to her own world made of glass animals and eventually isolates from the society. It is her disability and the family environment cause her isolation from the society, which is just the embodiment of her alienation

(3) What is the story of Coriolanus at the end of the story? the objectives of this research are (1) To analyze Coriolanus\u27 life at the beginning of the story (2) To explain the cause of coriolanus to avenge his Roman empire (3) To study and explain how much Coriolanus\u27s grudge to Rome to the tragic story he experienced.
The theory used in this research is literary psychology theory according to Sigmund Freud. This research uses a qualitative method. The object of research is the drama Coriolanus by William Shakespeare. Data sources are divided into two, namely primary data sources and secondary data sources. The primary data source is the drama script itself. Secondary data sources are text texts and several references related to research. The data collection technique is taking notes. The technical analysis of the data is descriptive analysis.
The results of the study show the following conclusions. First, the responsibility of a general in maintaining the sovereignty of his kingdom. Second, feelings of resentment arise when a struggle is not properly appreciated. Third, someone\u27s revenge towards others can have fatal consequences and can even end in a tragic death
The Use of Address Forms Related to Social Factors and Proxemic in 12 Angry Men Movie
Get PDFThis research discusses the use of address forms created in a conversation in a film entitled 12 Angry Men [1957).This study was conducted to look at the forms of address forms used by participants and related to social factors that influence the choice of address form, as well as the relationship between the choice of address forms and the types of proxemics that occurs between participants.
In writing this thesis, the observation method is taken as a method of collecting the data. For method of analyzing the data, the writer uses the content analysis method by analyzing the content of primary data. Technique of collecting the data using qualitative techniques by taking notes in collecting primary data. In the technique of analyzing the data, the writer uses the content analysis technique.
From the 20 data analyzed, it was found that there were three types of address forms present in this movie. The first type is the Title with a percentage of 75 percent. The second type is the Nickname with a percentage of 15 percent. The last type is a combination of some forms with a percentage of 10 percent. The social factors that influence the choice of address forms in this film are due to social status, particular occasion and occupational hierarchy. Whereas in proxemic is dominated by the use of social distance. It can be concluded that the occurrence of variations in the use of address forms can be caused by various social factors, and the use of distance (proxemics) and address forms occur at the same time
Phoneme in Minangkabau Language Between Padang Dialect and Lintau Buo Dialect

Padang city uses Minangkabau Language because this is a standard language eventhought they has many varieties dialect use in daily communication.Padang and Lintau Buo, both of which are often called Minangkabau language, are different dialect rather than different dialect of one language because they are not mutually intelligible in their spoken form. The problems are the difference between phoneme in Padang and Lintau Buo dialect and phonem deletion and additional in Padang and Lintau Buo dialect. There are differences between phoneme of Padang dialect and Lintau Buo dialect. Using Rich Pictures in Improving Students’ Speaking Ability
Get PDFThis is an action research which was aimed to find the effect of using rich pictures toward students’ speaking ability on sharing understanding of a situation. The population of this research was all of the students in the first semester of Islamic Business Management in UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. Two classes have chosen randomly as the sample by using cluster sampling technique. The total students involved were 35 students. The researcher conducted it in two cycles; each cycle consisted of four meetings. Each cycle involved planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data were taken through direct observation. Observation checklist and field notes were used to collect qualitative data. Pre-test and post-tests were conducted to see the improvements in speaking. The data were analyzed by using four steps. They were data collection, data reduction, data display, drawing conclusion. The findings showed that rich pictures gave a positive effect on students’ speaking ability on sharing understanding of a situation and reformulation technique could better improve students’ grammar in speaking at the first semester of Islamic Business Management in UIN Imam Bonjol Padan

Scarlet’s love has changed from romantic love to materialistic love before and after the war. The purpose of this study is (1) to analyzed the effect of American Civil War on Scarlet’s first marriage to Charles Hamilton (2) to analyzed the effect of American Civil War on Scarlet’s second marriage to Frank Kennedy (3) and to explain the effect of American Civil War on Scarlet’s third marriage to Rhett Butler.
The approach used is a psychological approach that the discusses the overall analysis in literature, both in extrinsic and intrinsic. The theory used in this research are the theory psychological and historical of literature according to Alan Daiches and Russel which states reflection of the characters’ psychological behavior in life and remembering the moment/historic moment a long with the literary work written. This study employs the qualitative method. The object of the study is focuses on the central figure of a Southern woman named, Scarlett O’Hara play written by Margaret Munnerlyn Mitchell. The data sources are divided into two, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary data source is the play script itself and the secondary data sources are script text and some references related to the research. The technique of the data collection is note-taking. The technique of the data analysis are telling and showing method.

Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif dengan instrumen penelitian berupa : perangkat pembelajaran (silabus, RPP, LKS, lembaran tes, lembar observasi). Untuk mengetahui gambaran yang jelas mengenai peningkatan keterampilan membaca intensif siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Ujungbatu setelah penerapan Strategi Pembelajaran Inkuiri (SPI) digunakan rumus daya serap dan ketuntasan belajar siswa, Depdiknas 2008.Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan membaca siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Ujungbatu meningkat. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan diperoleh nilai rata-rata siklus pertama 78,89 berkategori baik. Pada siklus kedua nilai rata-rata 86,86 berkategori amat baik.Dengan demikian hipotesis dapat diterima karena dengan diupayakan strategi pembelajaran intensif (SPI) dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca intensif siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Ujungbatu
An Analysis of Racial Discriminations as Seen in Kathryn Stokett’s Novel The Help

As for the method of data analysis, the authors conducted qualitative methods with understanding the novel. Data collection techniques use qualitative techniques by taking notes in collecting primary data. In data analysis techniques, the author uses structuralism method techniques by interpreting data.The results of this research are: 1) there are elements and acts of discrimination and segregation from white employers to black maids and also various racist actions towards other blacks described in the novel. 2) the cause of racial discriminations in this novel stems from Hilly\u27s idea of making separate toilets with black maids 3) The effect of this racial discriminations is the publication of the novel The Help in Mississippi, the changing viewpoint of their employers and helpers and vice versa
