The global dynamics nowadays are synonymous with technological developments which have led to the complexity of emerging threats for implementing Indonesia's defense that come from state actors and non-state actors by taking advantage of technological advances in every digital-based crime. To respond, the concept of digital transformation needs to be realized in a more simultaneous and integrated manner for the defense process through technology platforms. One of them is using Artificial Intelligence technology on defense intelligence activities digitally to prevent sudden strategic attacks on defense forces. Despite of benefits that help intelligence performance in the defense sector, applying Artificial Intelligence technology has potential negative impacts. This article aims to study the significant implications of Artificial Intelligence technology on national defense using a qualitative descriptive method in literacy studies originating from journals, books, and credible internet sources. The findings provide that potential threats from Artificial Intelligence-based defense intelligence activities include miscalculation of algorithmic processes in the intelligence collecting phase, breaches in the process of sharing strategic defense data, and errors in processing statistical data as an effort to observe the reactions of other countries to maintain the balance of defense forces, resulting of misinterpretation in order to estimate national power of them and their intentions in deploying military force. If the potential threats are not focused on being addressed, it will have an impact on reducing the effectiveness of defense intelligence to reduce uncertainty in forecasting global threats

The Role of Women in Terrorism in Indonesia

The involvement of women in terrorism in Indonesia has been seen since 2000 which was marked by Munfiatun's involvement as Noordin Muhammad Top's second wife in acts of terrorism at the Marriot Hotel in 2003 and the Australian Embassy in Jakarta in 2004. At this time, women do not act as the main actors but as supporters based on the relationship between husband and wife. Changes in the status of women's roles in acts of terrorism began to be seen in 2016 after the arrest of Dian Yulia Novi as the perpetrator in the pot bomb case in Bekasi. After the arrest, there was an increase in the involvement of women in acts of terrorism. Social media has succeeded in changing the role of women into perpetrators of terrorist actions. This article aims to determine the factors causing the increase in the role of women in terrorism in Indonesia, both in the form of bomb threats, attacks on officers, and suicide bombings. This study uses qualitative methods with secondary data sourced from court decisions and news in the national media from 2016 to 2022. This research found that husband and wife relationships aren't the main cause of women's involvement in Indonesian terrorism. Through the theory of the Hypodermic Needle, it was obtained that the media can provide information that affects society at large. These theories are considered appropriate in describing the propaganda of terrorist groups against female terror perpetrators in Indonesia where the media has a major influence in changing the thinking of the audience, directing the behavior of the audience, shaping attitudes, and even initiating the implementation of terror acts

This study aimed to investigate the implementation of character education values as a means for preventing radicalism along the Indonesia-Malaysia border (specifically focusing on students at SMAN 1 or Public Senior High School 1, Jagoi Babang District, Bengkayang Regency). The study employed a descriptive study. The research focused on character education values as a means to prevent or suppress radicalism among the people of Jagoi Babang District, who were susceptible to ideas that contradicted the national ideology. The main targets of this effort were the students, who often played a role in provoking radical behavior. The study findings indicate that students were aware of their citizenship status due to their exposure to schooling. However, the availability of items from surrounding countries frequently encouraged students to consume a greater quantity of Malaysian products. Empirical evidence demonstrated that students had an innate comprehension of radicalism, despite the researcher merely hinting at the concept. Before being probed with more detailed inquiries during the interview, students were capable of offering comprehensive insights. The majority of students had exhibited their comprehension of the influence of radicalism. According to the research, schools in Jagoi Babang were not offering enough extracurricular, co-curricular, and in-school activities to keep students from becoming radicalized. This was true both inside the schools and in border communities. Nevertheless, students had prior knowledge regarding radicalism and its risks

The world of International Relations will never be separated from its history. Countries in the Middle East, especially Muslim-majority countries, still have a lot of conflicts going on. However, the contribution of Islam to the world of peace never stops. In the contemporary world, for example, this contribution is realized through the participation of Islamic countries in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UN PKO). This study aims to analyze the contributions of female peacekeepers of Islamic countries. This research uses the concept of peacekeeping and analyzes secondary data with the quality method and literature review approach as the data collection technique.  The result of this research shows that eight of 12 peace missions involved Muslim-majority countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt, and Indonesia, which sent the most female peacekeepers. This study found that the Muslim-majority countries have successfully implemented the UN PKO program, especially for the increasing number of female peacekeepers agenda. It also found that the female peacekeeper has a substantive and public function in the operations, such as their contribution to the operation in logistical, informational branches, and medical aid aspects. However, the UN PKO still emphasizes masculinity. This study shows that domestic issues including inadequate military personnel and social stigmatization of women's peacekeeping engagement greatly reduce women's representation in UN peacekeeping operations. This inherently impacts the Women, Peace, and Security agenda

This study aims to dissect the battle in the Java Sea between Japan and the Allies as a lesson learned in developing Indonesia's maritime defense. The research method is a descriptive qualitative approach to historical methods and thematic phenomenology. The results of this study show the weakening of maritime culture and changes in the cultural perspective of the people and the Dutch East Indies colonial government, which resulted in a massive and fast defeat process in sea battles that determined one of them, namely in the Java Sea. This event became a lesson for Indonesia to rebuild a maritime culture towards a world maritime axis country. Maritime Culture is the foundation for strengthening Indonesia's layered maritime defense system but with the availability of a fleet that has yet to reach the current Minimum Essential Forces (MEF) target
