    No full text
Throughout the twentieth century, the discovery of modern techniques in anesthesia and surgery heralded a new age of evidence-based medicine that brought about control over pain, faster recovery, and longer healthier life spans. During the 1960s, efficiency in the operating room (OR) evolved with the invention of disposable sterilized equipment, making patient care more affordable for hospitals and improving the rate of infection prevention.https://academicworks.medicine.hofstra.edu/siuh_photo_archive/1010/thumbnail.jp

Dr. Étienne Stéphane Tarnier, a French Obstetrician, constructed warming chambers after his research at the Paris Zoo. These warming chambers would later become known as neonatal incubators. They were first introduced at L\u27Hôpital Paris Maternité in 1880. Dr. Pierre Budin began publishing reports of the successes of these incubators in 1888. This invention has helped sustain life for premature babies for generations by solving the lethal results of thermoregulation. Pictured here is a nursery filled with rows of bassinets, and an incubator to the back left.https://academicworks.medicine.hofstra.edu/siuh_photo_archive/1011/thumbnail.jp
