Comparison of Liberal and Republican Citizenship Theories in Various Countries

    Get PDF
The rapid development of globalization needs to be filtered according to Pancasila. If we examine the French state, it can be seen that the republican model of citizenship is ideal for the pluralism of Brubaker and Cooper (Lurbe, 2015). Estonia has received a high international assessment for the quality of liberal democracy (Khoma & Kokoriev, 2021). Therefore, we can instill the spirit of tolerance, and pluralism and maintain democracy in accordance with Pancasila. The aim of this research is to determine liberal and republican citizenship theories, as well as their comparisons in various countries. The type of research used is a literature study. A literature study is said to be a type of research carried out through the process of collecting data such as books, documents, articles, and so on (Saputri & Nuryono, 2018). The results of this research show that the theory of republican citizenship in Turkey, for example, the armed forces, is identified as a disciplined organization that defends the Republican regime (Kardam & Cengiz, 2011). In the context of the Republic of Indonesia, republicans played a role in gaining independence (Wicaksono, 2019). Meanwhile, the comparison is that liberal citizenship theory prioritizes freedom while republican citizenship theory focuses on the spirit of struggle. The conclusion is that liberal and republican theories of citizenship are suitable for one country and less suitable for another country. This is certainly influenced by the country's background

The Model of Social Responsibility of Islamic Banks

    Get PDF
Islamic banks, in addition to their "specialized duties", also have "social responsibilities". In economic and managerial literature, this is interpreted as "Corporate Social Responsibility" (CSR), which is a set of benevolent duties arising from the divine and voluntary will that has been determined in the structure of serving the Islamic and human community for Islamic banks. In the Islamic perspective, the responsibility of banks goes beyond the level of shareholder profitability and encompasses the realm of public interest and welfare. Welfare includes both worldly interests and salvation in the hereafter. The origin of these "social responsibilities" is the will of God, from which only wise matters arise. This research aims to present a "model of social responsibility" for Islamic banks. The proposed model consists of structures and variables: the "independent variable" such as governance of ethical and religious values, institutional factors, and economic motivations; the "moderating variable" such as education and awareness of Islamic bank managers, technological and technical factors, compliance with regulations and laws of the Islamic government, the proximity of Islamic banks' location, and convenience for customers; and the "mediating variable" such as market factors (banking products and services), media coverage (advertising), economic-political factors (economic institutions), cultural-social factors (effective cultural-social institutions), international factors (civil society institutions). The "dependent variable" is the social responsibility of Islamic banks. Data analysis was performed using both quantitative and qualitative methods, and the study population is Afghan banks. For fitting the conceptual model of research and investigating the main hypotheses of the research, the structural equation modeling (SEM) method by software (SMART PLS3) has been used, and the research findings indicate that there is a significant relationship between all research variables

Mathematical literacy is one of the abilities that must be possessed in today's 21st-century education. This study aims to describe the mathematical literacy skills of grade X students at one of the Yogyakarta high schools in Bantul Regency in solving contextual problems on SPtDV (System of Inequality of Two Variables) material. The method used was descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through multiple-choice tests, descriptions, and questionnaires using SPtDV material. Data analysis was done by reducing and presenting data, and drawing conclusions based on indicators of students' mathematical literacy (mathematical process). Sampling of the population was carried out using a non-purposive sampling technique. To determine the number of samples to be taken, researchers used a saturated sampling technique. The research subjects were students of class X of Yogyakarta Private Senior High School in Bantul Regency in the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, with a total of 20 students. The results showed that students with high ability were able to fulfill all three aspects of the indicators in mathematical literacy skills, namely formulating, using, and interpreting. While students with moderate ability were able to fulfill two aspects of the indicator, namely formulating and using. And students with low ability were only able to fulfill one aspect of the indicator, namely formulating. The percentage of results obtained is based on the Mathematical Literacy Profile Criteria, namely: 10% proficient, 60% proficient, 15% basic, and 15% need special intervention. This study implies that it is important for other researchers to explore the factors that influence the mathematical literacy skills of low-ability students, especially in high school students or equivalent

Most of well-known jurists of the Ahl al-Bayt and Hanafi schools have officially recognized the responsibility of the wise man in pure unintended murder and have agreed with the guarantee of the wise man. Just as in the era of the issuance of the Ahadith, the inclusion of ruling of the responsibility of the wise has been definite; But today's conditions of the society seems completely different from the conditions of the era when those Ahadith were issued; Because in the era of issuing the Ahadith, tribial affiliations and tribal relations prevailed in the societies of that day, especially in the Arabian Peninsula, and support and compensation were done through the tribal system, but today, the tribal system and tribal relations have been dismantled, and compensation and protection are done through commitments and contracts. Today, in many societies, the guarantee of the wise is totally removed, so there will not be any ruling. In such societies, compensation for damages must be done through commitments and contracts with institutions such as insurance, but in societies where guarantee of the wise is still in effect, if the wise shows disobedience to the payment of indemnity and its performance by institutions such as insurance, in some cases the wise will be acquitted of responsibility, and in some cases due to negligence of the divine duty, the wise will be punished even though compensation has been done by the institutions. Based on this, the present article tries to discuss and investigate the possibility of replacing institutions such as insurance instead of the wise institution in Ahl al-Bayt jurisprudence and Hanafi jurisprudence
