Developing Students’ Vocabulary Mastery through the Use of Text Twist Game
This study aims to examine whether the use of the Text Twist Game can improve the vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 15 Palu. A quasi-experimental research design was employed involving two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The study used quantitative research with purposive sampling. Class VII A with 30 students was the experimental group, and Class VII B with 30 students was the control group. A vocabulary test was used as the instrument for data collection, administered both before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the treatment. The experimental group received instruction using a Text Twist Game, while the control group was taught using an explanation technique. The findings show that the post-test mean score of the experimental group is 56.33 while the control group’s post test mean score is 30. Additionally, the statistical analysis revealed that the value of the t-counted is greater (97.20) than the value of the t-table (0.117). It indicates that the vocabulary mastery of the experimental group outperformed that of the control group after getting treatment. In other words, the use of Text Twist Game is effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery
Cohesion and Coherence in EFL Academic Writing: A Case Study of Tadulako University
Cohesion and coherence are essential components in academic writing which bridge an academia to create logically organized text and easy to comprehend. Thus, this research aims to identify the use of cohesion and coherence devices in the background section of Skripsi written by students of the English Education Study Program of Tadulako University. This research employs a mixed-method, which involves quantitative and qualitative analysis. The data were taken from ten selected Skripsi backgrounds. The findings of this research present that the most frequently used of cohesive devices is reiteration (48.09%), followed by reference (32.20%), and conjunction 1(9.49%). In contrast, the least frequently used cohesive devices are substitution and ellipsis, each appearing only (0.11%). Furthermore, in terms of coherence, the students dominantly implement repeat key nouns (66.27%), followed by consistent pronouns (22.88%), transition signals (8.88%), and logical order (1.97%). Although some devices appeared less frequently, the students’ academic writing still achieved overall textual unity and logical flow. Therefore, these findings indicate that while students have good abilities to build cohesion and coherence in their writing, there remains need to encourage more varied use of devices, particularly substitution, ellipsis, and transition signal, in order to further improve their quality of academic writing
Movement Patterns of Bali Bull (Bos sondaicus) Sperms After Supplementation of Micronutrients Zn, Selenium, and Vitamin E
In ruminant livestock, it is very important to pay attention to the adequacy of micro minerals and vitamins, considering that minerals and vitamins are absolute and must be present in the feed so that the health and productivity of the livestock is not disturbed. To produce quality semen, vitamin E, selenium and zinc are needed. These micronutrients play a role in the spermatogenesis process which will have an impact on the quality of spermatozoa produced by male livestock. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of supplementation of micronutrient on sperm movement pattern of Bali bull. This study was used two Bali bull aged 4-5 years with a body weight of 300-350 kg. The study was divided into two periods of treatments and each period was carried out for three weeks. In the first period (control), experimental Bali bull was fed natural grasses and concentrate (1% of body weight). Furthermore, in the second period (treatment period), the feed was similar as the first period with the addition of a mixture of minerals (Zn and Se) and vitamin E. The volume, color, pH, viscosity and movement pattern of the bull\u27s sperm were recorded. Likewise, sperm concentration, motility, viability and abnormality were measured. Fresh semen was diluted with Andromed® accordingly before subsequent processing. Data were analyzed using paired student t-test. The results of the study showed that the macroscopic quality of fresh semen of Bali bull improved after supplementation of micronutrient. The movement pattern of spermatozoa after administration of micronutrient supplements did not have a significant effect (P>0.05). It can be concluded that micronutrient supplementation in Bali bulls can improve macroscopic evaluation, abnormality, viability, concentration and maintained spermatozoa movement patterns.

Heat Shock Protein Gene Expression Analysis in Extensively Reared Indigenous Wad Goats
This study investigated the expression patterns of HSP90 and HSP70 genes, which encode heat shock proteins, using 45 genomic DNA samples isolated from West African Dwarf (WAD) goats in Nigeria. The polymorphism information content (PIC) of each marker was evaluated to determine its level of informativeness. DNA samples were collected from apparently healthy WAD goats in Osun, Oyo, and Kwara States under field heat-stress conditions, with ambient temperature and relative humidity recorded at the time of sampling. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification was performed using primers specific for each heat shock protein gene, and the PCR products were analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis on an ABI 3730 DNA Sequencer. Allelic variation was assessed using Microsatellite Analyzer software to generate allele frequencies. The results revealed alleles A and C as the predominant alleles for markers SSR1 (HSP90) and SSR2 (HSP70), respectively. The effective number of alleles and expected heterozygosity were higher for SSR2 (He = 0.40) than for SSR1 (He = 0.36). PIC values ranged from 0.55 (HSP90) to 0.59 (HSP70), indicating that both markers were informative (PIC ≥ 0.50). This study provides the first molecular characterization of HSP90 and HSP70 gene polymorphisms in WAD goats under tropical heat-stress conditions, suggesting their potential as reliable genetic biomarkers for thermotolerance selection and future breeding programs aimed at improving heat resilience in tropical livestock.

Comparative Analysis of Broiler Chicken Productivity in Relation to the El Niño and La Niña
This study aims to analyze the impact of El Niño and La Niña on the productivity of broiler chickens in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi. The research was conducted in June 2024 using data from broiler farms that implement a close-house system. The research method involved collecting broiler productivity data, including feed consumption, weight gain (WG), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), mortality, and Performance Index (PI), as well as climate data such as temperature, rainfall, and humidity. The results showed significant differences in broiler productivity between the El Niño and La Niña periods. During La Niña, feed consumption (0.098 kg/bird/day) and WG (0.063 kg/bird/day) were higher compared to the El Niño period (0.088 kg/bird/day and 0.057 kg/bird/day). FCR remained stable (1.5) in both conditions, indicating consistent feed conversion efficiency. Mortality was slightly higher during La Niña (5.11%) than El Niño (4.80%). The Performance Index (PI) was higher during La Niña (393) than El Niño (360), indicating better overall productivity. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that climate variables (La Niña intensity, temperature, rainfall, and humidity) did not significantly affect the PI. A SWOT analysis identified an offensive strategy as the optimal approach, leveraging the strengths of the closed house system and the growing market opportunities. The conclusion of this study indicates that although there are productivity differences between El Niño and La Niña periods, the use of closed-house technology helps maintain production stability. This research highlights the importance of technological adaptation in addressing climate variability to sustain broiler farm productivity.

Identifikasi Kawasan Rawan Bencana Tanah Longsor di Desa Takandeang Kecamatan Tapalang Kabupaten Mamuju: Identification of Landslide-prone Areas in Takandeang Village, Tapalang District, Mamuju Regency
Mamuju Regency is one of the areas in West Sulawesi that has a relatively high potential for landslides on a regional scale. Landslide-prone areas on a village scale have not been widely identified. One of the villages that often experience landslides, which result in fatalities and infrastructure damage, is Takandeang Village, Tapalang District, Mamuju Regency. Determining landslide-prone areas uses a weighting method with parameters: rainfall, soil erodibility, lithology, slope gradient, and land cover. Analysis of soil characteristics: soil erodibility, texture, permeability, and C-organic. Observations of soil structure and macroscopic rocks were conducted directly in the field. The weighting of landslide parameters showed a vulnerability value of 1.2 for rainfall, 0.67 for lithology, 0.6 for soil erodibility, 0.45 for slope gradient, and 0.4 for land cover. Landslide area identification in Takandeang Village shows three classes of vulnerability level, namely low class with an area of 522.86 ha (29%) spread across most of the Takandeang Village Hamlet area, medium vulnerability class with an area of 1115.21 ha (62%) spread across most of the eastern and the western regions of Takandeang Village which are forest areas, and high vulnerability class around 172.09 ha (9%) spread across Takandeang, Salubiru, Limbeng Hamlets, a small part of Benteng Kata, Taloba and Salumati Hamlets. The landslide vulnerability level of Takandeang Village is caused by rainfall as a triggering factor, while lithology and soil erodibility are controlling factors with the same weight in accelerating landslide events
Mewujudkan Tata Kelola Desa Yang Partisipatif: Studi Kasus Pengelolaan Dana Desa Di Kabupaten Banggai
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the level of community participation in the utilization of Village Funds in Saiti Village, Nuhon District, Banggai Regency. The main focus of the study covers four aspects of participation, namely: planning, implementation, utilization of results, and evaluation of the use of Village Funds. This research approach is qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with village officials and the community, and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the Saiti Village community shows active participation in almost all stages of Village Fund management. At the planning stage, participation is seen through the presence and proposals of residents in the Village Deliberation (Musdes) and the preparation of the Village Budget. At the implementation stage, the community is directly involved in physical development and empowerment activities, especially community leaders, youth, and religious leaders. However, women\u27s participation, although quite visible, is still under the dominance of men. At the utilization stage, the community acknowledges the direct benefits of the Village Fund program, especially in the fields of infrastructure and social services. Evaluation and supervision are carried out through open forums and village government accountability reports, although not yet fully optimal. This study concludes that community participation in Saiti Village in managing the Village Fund is quite high, but still requires strengthening in terms of gender equality, policy socialization, and more equitable community involvement. Recommendations are directed at increasing the capacity of village institutions and inclusive participatory communication strategies.
