Living in Sawah-Sawah: Between the cheapness of land and the expensiveness of peacefulness
The Tallo Riverbank is an area with a high potential for flooding. Even so, some community groups continue to survive and make the area their settlement, one of which is in the RT 3/RW 7 area, Antang Village, Manggala Subdistrict, Makassar City. This study aims to understand the community\u27s views on flooding, the risks they face and perceive, as well as the practices undertaken in dealing with flood risks. Using a qualitative approach, this research explores the experiences and views of the community directly to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the community\u27s struggle with flooding. Data collection techniques used were observation and in-depth interviews. This study involved 10 informants, which included 5 men and 5 women. This research shows that the community of RT 3/RW 7 faces various risks due to flooding, ranging from safety risks, economic risks, and health risks. However, economic limitations, proximity to livelihood sources and access to education, as well as strong social ties with the local community influence the perception of flood risks. Thus, the decision to live in flood-prone areas is not just a natural hazard with high risks, but part of daily life that must be faced by developing various practices to respond to flood risks ranging from mitigation, evacuation, to recovery. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for practical implementation through the development of community-based flood mitigation pilot projects
Analisis Pemeliharaan Lanskap Perumahan Citraland Celebes Kabupaten Gowa
Pemeliharaan yang baik merupakan salah satu bukti dari keberhasilan pengelolaan lanskap. Citraland Celebes merupakan perumahan yang memiliki ruang terbuka hijau yang cukup besar. Citraland Celebes berfokus pada kebutuhan penghuni perumahan, sehingga dalam perencanaan pembuatan taman telah memperhitungkan manajemen pengelolaannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari proses pemeliharaan lanskap perumahan Citraland Celebes dan mengajukan usulan strategi pelaksanaan lanskap untuk meningkatkan kinerja perusahaan dengan metode analisis SWOT. Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam bentuk survei berupa wawancara kepada pihak pengelola, pekerja, kuesioner untuk penghuni dan pengunjung serta dilakukan pengamatan kegiatan pemeliharaan di lapangan. Kemudian data yang telah diperoleh dilakukan analisis komperatif dan SWOT. Sekalipun pekerja pemelihara taman di perumahan Citraland tidak semuanya memiliki keterampilan di awal bekerjanya, tetapi karena Citraland sering melakukan pelatihan bagi para pekerjanya, maka secara umum kondisi taman dan jalur hijau perumahan Citraland Celebes pemeliharaannya sudah cukup baik. Program-program yang berkaitan dengan pemeliharaan seperti kegiatan pemeliharaan dan pengadaan alat dan bahan sudah cukup baik. Keterampilan pekerja dalam bidang lanskap perlu ditingkatkan melalui pelatihan
Verifying user-generated content (UGC) through the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI): Maintaining nationalism or threatening freedom of expression?
The revision of the Law on User-Generated Content (UGC) has sparked public debate because it is perceived as potentially limiting freedom of expression. This study examines the implications of the policy, particularly the requirement for content verification through the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), and its impact on society and the broadcasting ecosystem. Using a qualitative policy analysis approach based on literature review, media reports, and relevant usage data, this study evaluates the relevance and effectiveness of the regulation. The findings indicate that the verification policy may create practical difficulties, especially considering that approximately 34.7–54.8% of media consumption is dominated by UGC platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. Additionally, KPI is traditionally positioned as a supervisory body for broadcasting institutions rather than individual content creators, leading to regulatory ambiguity. These results suggest that the policy requires further review to avoid negative social impacts, including restrictions on public expression. Collaboration between government, media, and society is essential to maintain nationalism while safeguarding freedom of expression, ensuring that regulatory policies support a healthy broadcasting ecosystem without suppressing public participation
Kekuatan Laminasi Bambu Betung Dan Kayu Akasia Sebagai Komponen Kapal Kayu
Wood is one type of basic material that is often used as the main material for conventional shipbuilding in Indonesia. However, the use of wood as a material for making wooden ships is more often than trees that are proven to be sturdy but are not yet at harvest age. Bamboo is a material that is quite flexible and strong as a basic material for making wooden boats in Indonesia. Bamboo laminate combined with wood material can affect the normal bending strength of wood. This research aims to determine the effect of the ratio of bamboo laminate as a stress barrier in wood on the bending strength of the combined laminate. The method used in this research is an experimental method of the number of ratios of betung bamboo laminate constituents to acacia wood using a bending machine test, from a ratio of 40% betung bamboo to 60% acacia wood, 50% betung bamboo to 50% acacia wood, and 60% betung bamboo. % with 40% acacia wood using JIS Z-2113 standards. In this research, the results obtained were that laminates with a ratio of 40% betung bamboo to 60% acacia wood had an average bending strength value of 321.04 kg/cm2 and an average elastic modulus of 22.32 kg/cm2. The bending strength of betung bamboo laminate with acacia wood increased at a ratio of 40% betung bamboo 60% wood and decreased at a ratio of 60% betung bamboo 40% wood. The highest bending strength value is in the laminate with a ratio of 40% betung bamboo 60% acacia wood.Kayu adalah salah satu jenis bahan dasar yang sering digunakan sebagai bahan utama pembuatan kapal konvensional di Indonesia. Akan tetapi penggunaan kayu sebagai bahan pembuatan kapal kayu lebih sering dari pohon yang terbukti kokoh namun belum usia panen. Bambu merupakan bahan yang cukup lentur dan kuat sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan kapal kayu di Indonesia. Laminasi bambu yang digabung kan dengan material kayu dapat mempengaruhi kekuatan tekuk pada kuat tekuk kayu pada normalnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh rasio laminasi bambu sebagai penahan tegangan pada kayu terhadap kuat tekuk laminasi gabungan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penilitian ini adalah metode eksperimen jumlah rasio penyusun laminasi bambu betung dengan kayu akasia dengan menggunakan uji mesin tekuk, dari rasio bambu betung 40% dengan kayu akasia 60%, bambu betung 50% dengan kayu akasia 50%, dan bambu betung 60% dengan kayu akasia 40% dengan menggunakan standar JIS Z-2113. Pada penelitian ini diperoleh hasil bahwa laminasi dengan rasio penyusun bambu betung 40% dengan kayu akasia 60% mendapat nilai kuat tekuk rata-rata 321,04 kg/cm2 dan modulus elastisitas rata-rata 22,32 kg/cm2. Kuat tekuk laminasi bambu betung dengan kayu akasia mengalami peningkatan di rasio penyusun bambu 40% dengan kayu 60% dan mengalami penurunan pada rasio penyusun bambu 60% dengan kayu 40%. Nilai kuat tekuk tertinggi ada pada laminasi rasio penyusun bambu 40% dengan kayu akasia 60%
Sustainable Capture Fisheries Optimization for Blue Economy and Fishermen’s Welfare in Indonesia
The largest fish potential in Indonesian waters is in the waters covering the Aru Sea, Arafuru Sea and Eastern Timor Sea. This is based on data from the Directorate General of Capture Fisheries of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (January 2018), the potential fishery capability is 2,637,565 tons. With this potential, the amount that can be developed and utilized to be caught is 2,110,053 tons. This catch limit is a signal to continue to maintain fish stocks in these waters. In addition to this, these waters also have the most ship permit allocations with the number of ship permits granted by KKP totaling 1,368. Meanwhile, in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, the lowest potential fisheries are in the waters of the Strait of Malacca and the Andaman Sea, whose potential fisheries are 425,444 tons. However, 340,355 tons can be caught.Potensi ikan terbesar di perairan Indonesia berada di perairan yang meliputi Laut Aru, Laut Arafuru, dan Laut Timor. Hal ini berdasarkan data Direktorat Jenderal Perikanan Tangkap Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan (Januari 2018), potensi kemampuan tangkapnya sebesar 2.637.565 ton. Dengan potensi tersebut, maka jumlah yang dapat dikembangkan dan dimanfaatkan untuk ditangkap adalah sebesar 2.110.053 ton. Batas tangkap ini menjadi sinyal untuk terus menjaga stok ikan di perairan ini. Selain hal tersebut, perairan ini juga memiliki alokasi izin kapal terbanyak dengan jumlah izin kapal yang diberikan oleh KKP sebanyak 1.368. Sementara itu, di wilayah NKRI, potensi perikanan terendah berada di perairan Selat Malaka dan Laut Andaman yang potensi perikanannya sebesar 425.444 ton. Namun, yang dapat ditangkap sebanyak 340.355 ton
Pengaruh Empati dan Etika Perwira terhadap Keselamatan Kerja Kru Kapal Pada Industri Pelayaran
This study aims to analyze the influence of ship officers\u27 empathy and ethics on occupational safety in the shipping industry. Data were collected from 60 respondents consisting of ship officers from national shipping companies. The research instrument used a structured questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 26, including validity tests, reliability tests, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that officers’ empathy has a positive and significant effect on work safety by 47.6%, while officers’ ethics contribute 36.0% positively and significantly. Simultaneously, empathy and ethics together influence occupational safety in the shipping industry by 49.4%. These findings highlight the importance of fostering empathy and ethics in shaping a safety culture onboard ships.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh empati dan etika perwira kapal terhadap keselamatan kerja di industri pelayaran. Data dikumpulkan dari 60 responden yang terdiri dari perwira kapal pada perusahaan pelayaran nasional. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner menggunakan skala Likert 5 poin. Analisis data dilakukan dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 26, menggunakan uji validitas, reliabilitas, regresi linear berganda, dan uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa empati perwira kapal 47.6 % berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keselamatan kerja, etika perwira berpengaruh 36.0% positif dan signifikan terhadap keselamatan kerja dan secara bersama-sama emphaty dan etika perwira berpengaruh terhadap keselamatan kerja pada industri pelayaran sebesar 4. 94% Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pembinaan emphaty dan etika dalam membentuk budaya keselamatan kerja di atas kapal.
 
Is Anyone Listening? Citizen Participation and The Illusion of Democracy in A Peru Regional Government
This research examines the link between citizen participation and public decision-making in an entity of the public sector in the province of Paita in Peru, in 2024. The research is based on the premise that democratic governance, good public administration, and sustainable development require the involvement of citizens. The research has a non-experimental, descriptive, quantitative design. Information was obtained from questionnaires and interviews of 200 citizens and 40 municipal officials. The research analyzes citizens\u27 participation and the decision-making process, and their dimensions, in the light of commitment, surveillance, and oversight, in the case of participation; and immediate response, effective decisions, and resolution of difficulties, in terms of decision-making. The results suggest that the citizens are "participating the most on average." Officials’ decision-making is also considered, overall, to be largely medium. The trends in citizen participation and determining dimensions are similar, with the majority of scores falling into the middle range. The study underscores the imperative to enhance participatory governance through strengthened communication channels, digital engagement tools, and institutional mechanisms that facilitate collective action. By shedding light on the lived realities of municipal administration in a non-centralized, Global South context, the research offers critical insights for the design of inclusive and responsive public policies. These findings contribute to broader discussions on democratic innovation and the reconfiguration of citizen–state relations in public service delivery
Militarization of Anti-peasant Forest Conservation: The Case of the Amazon Forest Reserve Zone (AFRZ) after the Colombian 2016 Peace Agreement
In 2016, the Colombian government signed a peace agreement with the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) that included the implementation of a Comprehensive Rural Reform (CRR) with the purpose to allocate and formalize land for peasant populations. In parallel, Colombia was committed to implement the global environmental agendas, including efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by reducing deforestation in the Amazon. Campesino communities in Colombia have historically been marginalized and pushed into forested lands and protected areas. This study seeks to understand the configuration of land-use conflicts in the Amazon Forest Reserve Zone (AFRZ) - a land management category in the Colombian Amazon - amid the implementation of the global environmental agendas and the Peace Agreement, with a focus on the environmental justice implications for peasant communities. After undertaking a historical review of peasant colonization of the Amazon, we focus on the administration of the former president Iván Duque (2018-2022) in which military operations were deployed to counteract the increase of deforestation. These operations resulted in the destruction of private and community infrastructure, and the stigmatization, criminalization, and even homicide of rural inhabitants. Militarization is only the most obvious of the conservation strategies that limit access to nature by peasants, who depend on it for their livelihoods. We further explore the environmental justice implications of this military conservation approach through a case study in the village El Camuya, located in San Vicente del Caguán (Caquetá), in the Colombia’s “arc of deforestation”. Using qualitative methods, we demonstrate how the Comprehensive Rural Reform included in the Peace Agreement has been insufficient to fulfill the needs of Amazonian peasants and that, when intersecting with the environmental agendas, it has fostered land use conflicts that can be understood as environmental injustices
Analisis Kandungan Logam Berat Timbal (Pb) dan Kadmium (Cd) pada Daging Ikan Kuniran Upeneus sulphureus Cuvier di Teluk Palu Kota Palu
Aktivitas manusia di pesisir kampung nelayan, Kampung Lere dan di hulu Sungai Matangpondo/ Poboya yang berupa pengisian bahan bakar untuk perahu nelayan, pertambangan dan pertanian memicu terjadinya peningkatan jumlah limbah terutama limbah logam berat yang berpotensi menyebabkan pencemaran di perairan Teluk Palu. Kadar logam berat yang banyak terakumulasi pada biota laut dapat menyebabkan masalah bagi kesehatan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar logam berat timbal (Pb) dan kadmium (Cd) pada ikan kuniran Upeneus sulphureus Cuvier. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari-Maret 2024. Analisis kandungan logam berat menggunakan Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectometry (ICP-MS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kandungan logam berat timbal (Pb) tertinggi terdapat pada sampel ikan kuniran B di stasiun 1 dengan konsentrasi sebesar 0.0614 mg/kg dan rata-rata timbal (Pb) tertinggi yaitu di stasiun 1 dengan konsentrasi sebesar 0.0594 mg/kg sedangkan kandungan logam berat kadmium (Cd) tertinggi terdapat pada sampel ikan kuniran B di stasiun 1 dengan konsentrasi sebesar 0.0173 mg/kg dan rata-rata kadmium (Cd) tertinggi yaitu 0.0162 mg/kg. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ikan kuniran Upeneus sulphureus Cuvier belum melewati ambang batas BPOM dan masih layak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat di Kota Palu
Pencemaran Logam Berat terhadap Ketersediaan Air Bersih di Perairan Pulau Sumatera: Review Artikel
Lingkungan hidup di Indonesia memiliki peran penting dalam menopang kehidupan manusia dan makhluk hidup lainnya, salah satunya melalui ketersediaan air. Air sebagian besar berupa air asin memiliki hanya 0.014% dalam bentuk air tawar yang dapat dimanfaatkan langsung. Sungai merupakan sumber utama air di Indonesia, mendukung berbagai sektor seperti konsumsi, pertanian, perikanan, dan transportasi. Namun, pencemaran sungai menjadi masalah serius, dengan data menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar sungai di Indonesia telah tercemar, baik dalam kategori ringan hingga berat. Salah satu ancaman utama adalah pencemaran logam berat yang bersifat tidak terdegradasi dan dapat terakumulasi dalam lingkungan serta organisme. Dampaknya signifikan terhadap kualitas air dan kesehatan masyarakat, terutama di wilayah Sumatera. Adapun hasil literature review ini diketahui bahwa seluruh Sungai di perairan Sungai Sumatera menunjukkan hasil tercemar logam berat meskipun terdapat beberapa sungai dengan logam berat yang masih berada di bawah baku mutu
