UNSUR ASMARA DAN DENDAM DALAM NOVEL LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES KARYA CHODERLOS DE LACLOS

    Get PDF
This study analyses the intrinsic elements of romance and revenge in Choderlos de Laclos’s epistolary novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses. By employing theories of characterization, personality, and theme, the research investigates how main characters, specifically Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont, manipulate love to achieve retribution . The study utilizes a descriptive analysis method to deconstruct the psychological motives behind their actions. Results indicate that romance is not portrayed as genuine affection but as a strategic tool for power, where the epistolary format amplifies the realism of the characters\u27 deceit and moral corruption . Consequently, the novel functions as a sharp social critique of the 18th-century French aristocracy, demonstrating how the interplay of calculated seduction and vengeance leads to inevitable destruction

Analisis Formula Cawelti dalam Novel Seijo no Kyūsai Karya Keigo Higashino

    Get PDF
This study examines the application of the classic detective formula in Seijo no Kyūsai by Keigo Higashino using John G. Cawelti’s framework. The research aims to identify narrative patterns and structural variations that distinguish the novel from conventional detective mysteries. Using a descriptive qualitative method with note-taking, the study analyzes data from both the Japanese text and its Indonesian translation. The findings indicate that the novel applies the five aspects of the classic detective formula but modifies them by introducing an impossible crime, thereby creating greater complexity. The crime is revealed not through explicit depiction but through indications of cause of death, while real and false clues emerge from character actions, monologues, and misleading alibis. The investigation integrates police inquiry with scientific experiments by Yukawa Manabu as a nonconventional detective. The solution unfolds gradually through analytical dialogue, ending with the perpetrator’s arrest while leaving emotional tension that enriches the narrative

    Get PDF
Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) knowledge is crucial for informed decision-making, yet cultural barriers in Malaysia limit open discussions, creating significant knowledge gaps. This study validated the Malay version of the Adolescent SRH Knowledge and Attitudes Questionnaire to address this need. The validation process included expert content review (6 panelists), face validity testing (30 respondents), and psychometric analysis among 100 adolescents in Sarawak. The questionnaire demonstrated excellent content validity as rated by the experts and strong face validity among adolescents. The knowledge domain showed high internal consistency (α = 0.935), while the attitude domain had moderate reliability (α = 0.682), with refinements improving item alignment. The validated questionnaire provides a culturally adapted tool for assessing SRH among Malaysian adolescents, supporting targeted interventions. Future studies should expand validation to diverse populations and the assess longitudinal stability

Dynamic Model of Stunting Incidents and Policies in Padang City

    Get PDF
Stunting remains a significant public health challenge with complex, interconnected causative factors. Traditional static approaches fail to capture the dynamic relationships between environmental, health, and socioeconomic determinants. Dynamic modeling is essential for understanding these multifaceted interactions and developing effective prevention policies. Despite declining trends, Padang City\u27s high prevalance of stunting necessitates urgent, targeted interventions to achieve national targets. This study aims to develop a dynamic model analyzing stunting factors in Padang City and formulate effective prevention policies. A quantitative descriptive method with a dynamic systems approach was employed. Primary data were obtained through stakeholder questionnaires, while secondary data were obtained from the Padang City Health Office and Statistical Reports (2018-2023). Analysis utilized PowerSim Studio 10 for dynamic systems modeling and Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) for policy strategy development. Seven main factors influencing stunting were identified: low birth weight, maternal health, immunization, diarrhea, living in slum areas, access to clean water access, and household sanitation. Simulation modeling demonstrated that improving environmental conditions, increasing immunization coverage, and administering iron tablets could reduce stunting rates by 50% over 25 years. ISM analysis revealed environmental factors (sanitation, waste management, and access clean water) as key elements with the highest driving force. Consistent immunization coverage could reduce stunting prevalence from 24.2% to 12% within the projection period, while improved sanitation programs may lower prevalence by 15%. The research provides an integrated approach prioritizing basic infrastructure improvement, environmental sanitation enhancement, cross-sector coordination, and community capacity building. This dynamic modeling framework offers valuable insights for comprehensive stunting prevention strategies. However, limitations include a modeling-only scope requiring field validation for implementation effectiveness

Social Media Scams: A Netnography Investigation in Malaysia and Indonesia

    Get PDF
Online scams have become increasingly sophisticated across Southeast Asia, yet current studies primarily focus on single-platform fraud, specific scam types, or victim psychology in isolated contexts. Existing literature has examined romance scams, online investment fraud, digital labor scams, and general scam perceptions. However, few studies adopt a comparative Netnography approach across multiple social media platforms or explore the interconnectedness of scams with emerging issues such as human trafficking, particularly in Indonesia and Malaysia where scam incidents are rapidly escalating. This study fills this gap by providing a cross-country, multi-platform netnography investigation of scam techniques and victim responses. Using a non-participatory netnography approach, this research analyzed public interactions tagged with #scam and #scammeralert on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube over a five-day period in 2024. The study examined scammer strategies and victim narratives drawn from scam-reporting communities and fraud-victim support groups. The findings identify four dominant scam types: (1) selling products at cheaper prices, (2) impersonation, (3) offering job with high salary, and (4) offering online part-time job.  The study also reveals three major victim responses: (1) shooting and uploading the fraud on social media, (2) creating fraud’s victim association, and (3) freezing of their bank account on priority basis. This research contributes new insights by demonstrating how digital platforms function as interconnected ecosystems of fraud, where multiple scam types operate simultaneously and victims mobilize collective counteractions. The study highlights the urgent need for enhanced digital literacy, cross-border enforcement, and integrated anti-scam policies in Indonesia and Malaysia

Exploring Ethical Cosmopolitanism Through Tongkonan Symbolism: A Hermeneutic Perspective on the Toraja Community

    Get PDF
Previous studies have often regarded the tongkonan solely as a traditional, primordial symbol tied exclusively to Toraja culture. This article challenges that view by exploring the broader, transnational ethical dimensions of the tongkonan symbolism, which have not been fully addressed in existing literature. This research aims to empirically examine the relationship between individual subjects, the Toraja community, and other global communities, integrating these findings into a holistic, cosmopolitan perspective. Adopting a qualitative approach with a hermeneutic framework, this study analyzes the tongkonan as a cultural text through the lenses of symbol theory and ethical cosmopolitanism. Six informants participated in the study, consisting of two customary leaders, a church official, a religious leader, an educational practitioner, and a tongkonan carver. Data were collected through unstructured interview and observation. The research findings demonstrate that the symbolism of the tongkonan, understood as a representation of the microcosm, aligns with the principles of ethical cosmopolitanism, particularly in terms of cosmic brotherhood or fraternity. The Toraja people, through their symbolic use of the tongkonan, have historically positioned themselves as cosmopolitans or world citizens. The tongkonan embodies an ideal type of human being—one who is guided by solidarity and a sense of responsibility towards the liyan (fellow beings), thus reflecting a cosmopolitan personality. These results confirm the congruence between the symbolic meaning of the tongkonan and the tenets of ethical cosmopolitanism, indicating that the Torajan people have embraced their identity as global citizens, ethically connected across transnational scales

Price Volatility of Cooking Oil in Jambi Province Across Four Market Levels: A Structural Break Approach

    Get PDF
Cooking oil is one of the nine essential food commodities in Indonesia, whose availability and demand significantly influence fluctuations in both national and regional food prices. This study examines the development trends of cooking oil, analyzing its price volatility, risk levels, and structural changes (structural breaks) across four market levels in Jambi Province. A descriptivequantitative approach was employed, utilizing trend analysis, the coefficient of variation, and structural break tests based on daily data from the Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) covering the period from January 1, 2020, to December 27, 2024. Jambi Province was chosen as the study location because it is one of the main producers of crude palm oil (CPO)— the primary raw material for cooking oil—yet it continues to experience price volatility and periodic shortages of cooking oil. The results indicate that cooking oil prices fluctuated during the study period, with an overall upward trend. The coefficient of variation at the producer level was relatively higher compared to wholesalers, modern retailers, and traditional markets. Risk analysis further revealed that producers face higher price fluctuations, as they tend to act as price takers, with prices largely determined by market conditions and government interventions. Moreover, a structural break was observed at the wholesale market level on May 10, 2024. These findings highlight the critical role of government intervention in maintaining the stability of national cooking oil prices.
