Crop Farmer/ Pastoralist Conflict as a Challenge to Livestock Development and Animal Agriculture: The Experience of Pastoralists in Imo State, Nigeria
No full textOne of the major but hidden challenges to livestock development and animal agriculture the world over is resource-use conflicts between crop farmers and pastoralists. This is so because during conflict situation, almost all human livelihood activities come to a standstill including livestock farming. This study, therefore, sought to examine how crop farmer/pastoralist conflicts hinder livestock production. Questionnaires and oral interviews were used to obtain information from a total of 40 pastoralists in Imo state. Data were analyzed using percentages, mean and standard deviation. The results showed that the mean age of pastoralists was 38, and the mean household size was 10, mean herding experience was 18. The following were the causes of conflicts between crop farmer/pastoralist: blocking of water sources by crop farmers with a mean (M) response of 3.30, farming across cattle routes (M=2.95), burning of fields (M=3.30), theft/stealing of cattle (M=3.40), among others. The factors attracting the pastoralists to the study area were availability of special pasture (M=2.37), availability of land for lease (M=2.52), water availability (M=2.60), among other reasons. Conflicts, therefore, affect livestock production in the following ways: unsafe field for grazing, poor animal health, loss of human and animal lives, abandonment of herds for dear life and many others
A Comparative Study of Mohand and Mahgoub Transforms

In application section, we solve some systems of differential equations using both the transforms. Results show that both the transforms are closely connected

Leveraging Minority Students’ Social Capital and Employment Opportunities: Mentorship and Technology
No full textThe study seeks to determine the extent to which teachers’ training to integrate technology in the curriculum as well as the students’ participation in mentoring programs, would have an effect on minority students’ perception of barriers for finding employment after secondary/higher education. The study, quantitative with a hierarchical logistic regression model, uses data from the Education Longitudinal Study of 2002 from the National Center for Education Statistics, including a nationally representative cohort of minority high school students.The findings indicate that students who had mentoring programs available in their high schools, as well as those who participated in career-related mentoring in postsecondary institutions, recognized the role of having more connections social capital as a means to attaining employment
A Study of the Collection Storage and Housing at Law College Libraries in Karnataka
No full textThis study discusses the importance of collection development in libraries. Various factors have to be taken into consideration while developing a qualitative collection for the benefit of the law college library users affiliated to Hubli Law University. These factors include handling, collection storage, techniques and procedures, problems associated with collection development and weeding out as well. Questionnaire method is used for data collection. The present study is focused to understand the collection storage and housing aspects at law college libraries in Karnataka. The study is limited to all the law colleges affiliated to Karnataka State Law University, Hubli. It is important to evaluate the collections to assess its use and moreover the usefulness of collection development in electronic environment. Authors conclude that, library professionals need to take utmost care in developing a balanced collection, which enhances the quality of the library.

Growth of Research Productivity of the University of Mysore: A Scientometric Study
No full textThe present study aims to identify the research productivity of University of Mysore during 1989 to 2018. The study also tried to retrieve the information regarding the total number of citations, h-index, average citation per article of the faculty members of University of Mysore using Web of Science. In order to get the research output of the university, the search terms ‘University of Mysore’ is entered in the search box of the “Web of Science”. The result of the study shows that 4838 records of the University of Mysore have been included in the Web of Science database, out of which, majority 91.28% of the records are research articles. The study identified that among the faculty members of University of Mysore, Rangappa has received highest number of citations (4027), followed by Yathirajan has received 2425 citations. In this context, the study recommends that the faculty members of the both universities need to publish their research articles in peer reviewed journals with high Impact Factor.
