A Down Draft Gasifier of Biomass Gasification
Great environmental concern is expressed over the release of CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels. When fossil fuels are burnt, carbon from fuels reacts with oxygen from air and produce CO2. This is the reason for steady increasing CO2 content of atmosphere. Carbon dioxide contributes to 50% of green house effect. There is a need to balance the increasing demands for the electricity while simultaneously avoiding the adverse impacts on the environment. Nowadays, other field of research is the production of hydrogen as a fuel from the gasification process of different types of biomass.it is the simplest and economical process to produce thermal energy.
Passive Microwave Study of Salt Affected Agricultural Soil
Salt affected agricultural soil from superficial horizon of local profile of Alwar region with textural composition sand=30.2%, silt=59.7% and clay=10.1% has been selected for an estimation of observable parameter of passive microwave remote sensing. Artificially salinized and moistened soil samples with different concentrations in part per million (ppm) of Sodium Chloride corresponding to 0 ppm to 35000 ppm soluble in conductivity water are prepared.The real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant ε’ and ε” for artificially moistened and salinized soil with Sodium Chloride are determined at different levels of salinization. Real and imaginary part of dielectric constant is measured by wave-guide cell method at a single microwave frequency 9.78 GHz and at constant temperature 330C. The Fresnel reflectivity of salinized and moistened soil is determined for different observation angles. Further, Microwave emissivity of salinized soil is also calculated with suitable model calculations in view of passive microwave remote sensing. Microwave emissivity decreases with both salinity and moistness. Effect of salinity on emissivity is very small and considerable only at higher wetness of soil. In dry soils no impact of salinity observed on emission behaviour. High dielectric contrast between emitting layer of soil and air causes more energy to reflect back within the soil media than that of transmitted out in air. Hence, emissivity of soil decreases as salinity increases.
The Effect of Soil pH and Cadmium on Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Chlorophyll Contents in Corn (Zea mays L.)
A pot experiment was carried out in the plastic greenhouse at the Institute of Sustainable Agrotechnology (INSAT), University Malaysia Perlis in Sungai Chuchuh, Perlis, Malaysia during the season of cultivation of 2014 to investigate the impact of soil pH and cadmium (Cd) on nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and chlorophyll contents of corn plant (Zea mays L.). Twenty-five were arranged in factorial experiments according to the complete randomized design (CRD), with three replicates. Five levels of soil pH were: pH4, pH5.2 (i.e., the original value), pH6, pH7 and pH8 and five levels of Cd: Cd 1, Cd 2, Cd 3, Cd 4 and Cd 0 where the amounts (2, 4, 6, 8 mg. kg−1 soil and control treatment without add Cd) are applied as CdCl2. Thus, the total numbers of pots were 75 pots. The results showed the soil pH7 led to significant effect in increasing the N and chlorophyll contents, while the decrease of soil pH to 5.2 led to significant effect to increase P content in the corn, as well as increase concentration of Cd led to significant decreasing in N, P and chlorophyll contents. As for the interactions between soil pH and Cd, it led interaction between pH 4 and Cd 4 to decrease of the N and chlorophyll contents in the corn, while the interaction between pH 8 and Cd 4 led to decrease in P contents in the corn.
Chemical Composition, Antimicrobial and Antioxidant of Ziziphus Spina-Christi Bark and Leaves Extracts
The aim of the study was to identify chemical composition; antimicrobial and antioxidant of Sidr bark and leaves crude extracts. The bark and leaves were collected from a garden house in El-Obeid city, North Kordofan State, during June (2017) dried under shade, grinded and then extracted by maceration method using 99% ethanol and distilled water. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins and tannins with high concentration except flavonoids with low concentration in water extracts. Crude extracts at concentrations 40, 60, 80 and 100 mg/ml were applied against four bacterial strains (two Gram-positive bacteria: Bacillus subtilis (NCTC 8236), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923); and two Gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Pesudomonasaeruginosa(ATCC 27853). using the agar plate well-diffusion method. Tetracycline ( 40, 20, 10 and 5 mg/ml) was used as a standard with the tested bacteria. Crude extracts with concentration of 100mg/ml were applied against one type of fungous (Candida albicans (ATCC 7596). Bark extracts with different concentrations showed the highest activity against all tested bacterial strains. The highest growth inhibition zone diameter was obtained against Escherichia coli (39 mm) and Pesudomonasaeruginosa (35mm). The water extract of the leaves at 80 mg/ ml was sensitive against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (18mm). The water and ethanol extracts of the leaves at 40 mg/ml were found to be more active against Escherichia coli (23mm). The plant extracts showed no activity against Candida albicans. Compared to the reference antibiotic, the bark extracts exhibited broader spectrum of antibacterial activity. The free radical scavenging activity of the crude extracts was evaluated using 2,2-Di(4-tert-octylphenyl)-1-picryl hydrazyl stable free radical (DPPH).The extracts showed a DPPH scavenging activity of 3.0±0.03, 75.8±0.01(for leaves extracted by water and ethanol respectively) and 62.1±0.11, 89.5±0.07 (for bark extracted by water and ethanol respectively). The standard (Propyl gallate) showed 90.6±0.08 activity. Analysis of the crude extracts by GC-MS showed (35 and 15 compounds) for leaves and bark ethanol extracts respectively
A New Approach for More-For-Less Paradox in the Linear Fractional Transportation Problem
The more-for-less (MFL) situation occurs in the linear fractional transportation problem (LFTP) when we are able to increase total shipment for less (or same cost) total cost. In this paper we develop a simple step by step procedure to solve MFL situation in LFTP. The main advantage of the algorithm is that it never changes the initial basis. This method is based on optimal solution of LFTP and theory of shadow prices. At the end, a numerical example is discussed to explain the proposed algorithm.
Understanding Inherent Interconnectedness, Co-existence and Self-regulation in Nature (Existence) and their Implications Leading to a Holistic Worldview
All human beings inherently aspire for happiness, prosperity and its continuity both within us and with the outside world which includes other human being and the rest of Nature.But, at the same time most of us feel contradiction in themselves and it is common to see such a wide spread conflict, violence and strife at every stage, not only in human-to-human interactions but also in human-to-Nature interactions.This way most of us are forced to live in contradiction. What is the way out of this dilemma, we are aware that great visionaries have proclaimed that there is an inherent unity in the Universe under the apparent diversity. If this be the real truth then, the important question arises – How can we facilitate the understanding and realization of this truth? If we can move in that direction, it will be really a tangible progress towards promotion of peace and harmony. The present investigation is dedicated to this objective whereby an attempt is made to explore various sources and evidences which include direct observations, the study of ecology, the Gaia theory, the implications of some revolutionary developments in modern sciences and finally, the understanding emerging from spiritual philosophical domains. All these sources tend to strengthen the conviction that there is inherent interconnectedness, self-regulation and co-existence in entire Nature/Existence of which the human being is an integral constituent. It also highlights an important fact that the human species can fulfil their role in this harmony only after proper understanding and realization of this truth

Tape-recorded conversation is a valid evidence or not?
The Electronic form of evidence is the requirement in the current scenario of the judiciary. The evidence of tape recorded conversation is emerging nowadays in the cases related to prevention of corruption act, electronic media is used by all over the world with the latest version and updated technologies and that is the reason why the admissibility of the evidence depends on the nature and the evidentiary value of such tape recorded conversation. we have seen that after the Indian technology act, 2000 and amendment in the evidence act, 1872 that the tape-recorded conversation is considered as one of the evidentiary document but the admissibility is still the matter of evidentiary value. Prior to the year 2000, the court used to considered only oral or written document and the judges were overburdened with the pending cases and the relation between law and technology was raised many times before court of law. Tapping telephonic conversation by special authority is not the violation of fundamental right and the rights of article 20(3) Indian constitution is not available, it is excluded from the right to privacy, The connection amongst law and innovation has not generally been a simple one. Now, the evidence of telephonic conversation is freely taken after the major amendment in section 3 of Indian evidence act, 1872 with respect to the section 92 of Indian technology act, 2000, Indian technology act has somehow clarify the concept of admissibility of evidence that's why the evidence act and technology act are considered as the two wheels of the court of criminal procedure. Section 2 of Indian technology act deals with the information received, sent, contained in chip or microchip and stored in media whether in magnetic form or optical.
