The Necessity for Inclusion of Adolescent Health Education in B. Ed. Curriculum
Having good health is the prerequisite for students for their satisfactory academic achievement, and it is more so during the early age of the children i.e., when they pursue their elementary education. This is the time when the foundation of their life is laid. Whereas we find that globally more than about 80% of our adolescent (children between the age of 10 and 19 years) are unhealthy today. Due to lack of promotion of good health in their adolescent they underperform in academics and many of them develop chronic health problems and many even lose their lives. In a recent survey in one of the public schools in Karnataka it was found that the children had educational problems about their concentration in study (61.12%); poor memory (13.51%); stress while attending classes and writing examination (6.65%) and poor performance in academics (1.70%). The types of psychological problems they had were anxiety (9.98%), depression (5.41%) and excessive concern about physical appearance (2.91%). The health problems that came into surface were headache (8.31%), eye problems like low vision, watering and irritation (3.71%) etc. The skin and hair related problems were acne, whitening of hair and hair fall (2.91%). The types of sleeping disorder found among the students were - feeling very sleepy, having less sleep and disturbed sleep (1.66%). The study detected fear and concern about future and surrounding world (2.70%) among the students too. Several other studies have also revealed similar health state of adolescent of India. In our academic system the teachers play a pivotal role and the teacher of elementary education are prepared for the professional work through the university designed B. Ed. (Bachelor of Education) curriculum. It would be a positive step forward if the adolescent health programme is included in the B. Ed. Curriculum and school educational professionals are prepared to look after the health of the adolescent in India.
Effect of Intelligence on Achievement in English of The Students of Secondary School
The present study was conducted with a view to assess the effect of Intelligence on achievement in English of secondary students studying in X standard. The purpose of the study was to explore the effect the level of intelligence of secondary students, if any, in terms of gender and locality. A sample of 715 students who were studying in X standard of different schools were randomly selected from urban and rural areas of Chickballpur and Kolar district of Karnataka. Both boys and girls were included in the study. The result showed that the students with higher level of intelligence achieved better in English than the students who had less intelligence; and there was no significance correlation between intelligence and achievement scores among the boys and girls of urban and rural area
Does Facebook Post Contribute to Citation Count?: An Analysis of World’s Most Influential Scientific Articles - 2014
Due to the increasing amount of scientific work and the typical delays in publication, assessing the impact of scholarly work is a huge challenge. The goal of this paper is to find out the association between Facebook and citation pattern for scholarly articles. The study was carried out to analyze the most prolific authors of 2014 from the document World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds 2014 from four subject domains Clinical Medicine, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Neuroscience, and around 4886 papers and 719 most prolific authors were identified and their facebook and citation count studied. From the study, it was found out that articles of the most prolific authors have a strong correlation with citation whereas the association between the number of articles published by these prolific authors and the number of Facebook count they have received are not dependent on each other
Electronic Information Resources Accessibility and Utilisation in Academic Libraries: Lautech College of Health Sciences, Osogbo, Osun State
The study focuses on the accessibility and the utilization of electronic/online information resources and library facilities among the users of LAUTECH Medical Library at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, College of Health Science, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. A mixed method approach was used to provide complementary insights to the findings of the study. The survey research method was adopted for the study. The sample size of four hundred and fifty questionnaire (450) were distributed to users who access and utilize the electronic information resources in the library during the period of investigation. Questionnaires and observation were used to gather information. A total of four hundred and twenty eight (428) questionnaire were returned and used for this study. Mean scores were used for the analyses. A mean score of 2.55 to 4,00 shows agreement while a mean score of 1.00 to 2.54 shows disagreement for the staff (lectures and non teaching staff). For the students a mean score of 1.00 to 3.90 shows disagreement while above 3.90 shows agreement. For all the respondents, the mean score of 74.66 and above indicates agreement.The data collected were analyzed and appropriately assigned based on the findings obtained; using simple percentages and results were presented in tables. The study revealed that the level of accessibility and utilization among students and teaching staff is abysmally low. Key findings from the study were supportive of the importance of utilization of health information resources as being central to the development of professional competence of the medical students which can be achieved through re-structuring the teaching methods and curricula of the Nigerian Medical Schools. The study asserted the availability and adequacy of e-information resources (human & materials) against of minimum benchmarks for quality.
A Linguistic and Cultural Clichés Integral in Kolakaluri Enoch’s Novel Anantajeevanam
This study discusses of the linguistic and cultural related words and livelihood of Dalit community, and how it’s impact on the rest of the world and how rest of the world’s rituals impact on them in reverse. Linguistic barriers in translating a source text, the proposed research will also remain critically aware of the further difficulty in translating the lived experience of a Telugu Dalit writer and representing this specific and particular everyday reality as a universally available and relatable narrative of human experience. Kolakaluri Enoch’s novel, apart from being a seminal text in modern Dalit literature in Andhra Pradesh, also offers the advantage of being self-translated – rendered in English through the words of the author himself. Through the close reading and critical analysis of the text, the current project shall attempt to identify the various social, cultural and linguistic factors which determine the process of self-translation in Telugu Dalit writing

Microgrid,a small energy system with locally interconnected generators, consumers and storage facilities, within physical limits,should be parts of large power system. The future does not belong to the microgrid but to the intelligent structure that minimaze the cost and boost the efficiency. Instead of micro, nano or picogrid the Intelligent Energy Cell, IEC, is the answer. IEC besides the today microgrid, contains anintelligent generator (inverter), which optimize the behavior of all component, generator its self, consumer, storage facilities and the exchange with the public grid.This IEC would be in the same time isolated and connected between another IEC’s and the public grid. The future power energy system, the Intelligent Energy System, IES, would be as a tissue of IECs. The next step of development concerns the IES. Here all the major component has its own DNA. In such futurepower systems, all components communicate between them. A superviser task is reduced because every major component, every inelligent energy cell, every consumer would have its proper DNA and in a specific situation know what to do, as the human cells knows
Seasonal and Diurnal Variation of Black Carbon Aerosols over Delhi and their Interrelationship with PM2.5 and Meteorological Parameters
Due to industrial, vehicular and residential emission in Delhi, concentration of Black carbon (BC) emitted is substantially high. Black carbon plays a major role in altering the earth’s climate and leads to adverse human health. The current research estimates the concentration of Black Carbon, a light absorbing carbonaceous aerosol at four locations of Delhi during 2017. The intra-seasonal variation indicated that the average BC surface mass concentration was highest during winters around 26.27 ± 3.28μg/m3 followed by postmonsoon and pre-monsoon season. As per the diurnal variation, minimum BC concentration was found during the daytime between 12:00-17:00hrs due to enhancements in the MLH and increased convective activity. The BC mass concentration exhibit positive correlation with PM2.5. This study will add significant value to the current BC research literature
Synthesis and Luminescent Properties of Sr2CeO4 Phosphor prepared by Modified Solid state Diffusion Method
In this article, Sr2CeO4 phosphors were synthesized by Modified solid state diffusion method and their luminescent characteristics were studied. The starting materials, Strontium Carbonate (SrCO3) and Cerium Oxide (CeO2) of 99.5 % purity were used to prepare phosphor. The samples were characterized by XRD, FESEM, and Photoluminescence. The X- Ray diffraction patterns reveal the crystallite size of powder. A broad excitation band ascribed to the Ce4+- O2- transition was observed under the excitation at ultraviolet region. The emission spectra shows broad band peaking at 467 nm for the excitation wavelength 254, 330 and 360 nm. Color co- ordinates of Sr2CeO4 are x = 0.19 and y = 0.24, which lies in blue color region
