Cinema as a Matrix of Intermediality: A Comparative Literary Methodology
For a long time scholars in the field of media took up individual mediums for investigation, but now a lot of them agree that various characteristics of media can only be understood through a comparative analysis of media which takes into account history and collaborations of all media and their network of connection. To understand Intermediality as a research field and its applicability as a methodology for comparative studies this paper uses ‘Rang Rasiya’ to illustrate the same. The paper explores the intricate use of various Intermedial categories suggested by Rajewsky and Schroter, in the narrative of the film to understand the interplay of literature, art, photography, theatre and so on in the matrix of the medium of Cinema. This provides a link between literature and Media studies which further enhances the scope of establishing an intersection between technology and humanities.
A Review “The Necessity of Launching Adolescent Health Programme in Schools”
I had gone through the article and found it to be very informative and useful which suggests remedies to some social and educational issues with statistics. The author has brought out many valid points and made some suggestions in the article. I appreciate the new definition of ‘Health’ given by the WHO, specially its third dimension – ‘The Social Wellbeing’, which he has mentioned. The remedies that the WHO has prescribed and brought out by the author appear to be very apt options in the present global context
Common Fixed Points in Fuzzy Metric space Using Variants of Compatible Mappings
The aim of the present article is to generalize the notion of reciprocal continuity to conditionally reciprocal continuity and obtain related common fixed-point theorem in diverse settings. Our results generalize and extend several fixed-point theorems in metric and fuzzy metric spaces. We also demonstrate existence and uniqueness of common fixed point for a pair of conditionally compatible self-mappings.
Wide Gap between Indian School Education & Higher Education
India has got various systems of education and on the top of it they do not have coordination amongst them. Almost every state of the country has got its own secondary board. There are some states, too, that have got more than one Board of Secondary Education. Some Union Territories such as Delhi have also got their boards of secondary education. Every state and region is at liberty to have their own medium of instruction. They can prescribe text books as per their requirement and ideology. Different types of schools cater to different aspirations of students as per the social status of students. If schools among themselves don’t have coordination, it can be easily visualized what kind of messy situation there is likely to be when the higher education also emerges in such a picture. It won’t be hyperbolic to say that in India as far as education is concerned, the right hand does not know what the left hand is going to do. In India education is provided by the public sector as well as the private sector, with control and funding coming from three levels: central, state and local. School Education includes (i) Pre-school Education and (ii) 12 years of School Education and its equivalent. Institutions recognized/approved by a competent authority e.g., Central/State Government or other authorized agencies, e.g., Boards of Secondary Education, UGC, AICTE, MCI, ICAR, Directorates of Education or other duly empowered authorities. With a median age of 25 years, India has over 550 million people below the age of 25 years. According to Census figures, over 32 per cent of the 1.1 billion, the population is between the age group 0- 14. This means that the number of people in India needing primary and secondary education alone exceeds the entire population of the USA. Since these students are to seek higher education in India over the next decade it illustrates the need for the coordination between the school education and higher education. Presently about 11 million students are in the Higher Education system. This represents just 11% of the of the 17-23 year old population. The government hopes to increase this to at least 21% by 2017- a target which still falls short of the world average. With the emergence of India as a knowledge-based economy, human capital has now become its major strength. This has put the spotlight on severe inadequacies of India’s infrastructure for delivery of education, particularly highlighting the need for co-ordination between school and higher education
Absolute Point Approach for More-For-Less Paradox in Linear Fractional Transportation Problem
In more-for-less situations in linear fractional transportation problem, it is possible to ship more units of goods with less (or equal) cost than the optimal solution. This type of analysis can help industries in many ways. The warehouse capacities can be increased to store more goods according to demand. In this paper the absolute point for the transportation problem with fractional objective function is studied. Also a different approach is given to find a more-for-less solution of linear fractional transportation problem which is easy to apply and can be used effectively and efficiently in solving more-for-less paradox for large scale linear fractional transportation problems. Numerical examples are proposed for explanation.
A Comparative Study of the Predictive Power of ARIMA and VAR Models: Evidence from Crude Oil Prices, Stock Market Movement and Economic Growth Nexus in Nigeria.
This work compares the predictive power of univariates and multivariate models of crude oil prices, stock market capitalization and exchange rate. Modeling of the respective series as univariates and modeling the dynamic relationship that exists between them using vector autoregressive (VAR) model with the view of obtaining forecasts of the series is carried out. Two-point forecasts from the univariates and multivariate models were obtained. It is observed that the use of multivariate model presents a better framework for forecasting
Structure and Thermodynamics of Solutions of Colloids interacting through Yukawa or Lu- Marlow Potentials using Computer Simulation
In this article, we used an expression described by Lu and Marlow, whichtakes into account the finite size of the particles. To test this potential, we havecalculated the structure factor. As a method, we use the variational methodbased on the Gibbs-Bogoliubov inequality. The resulting theoretical structurefactors obtained are found to be in a good agreement with the experimentaldata of Grüner and Lehmann, which justified the interest in introducing sucha potential.Keywords: Computer simulations, colloids, pair potential, structure factor,Structure, Thermodynamics variational method
Mahatma Buddha: Life, Philosophy and Influences
Siddhartha or Gautama Buddha was born as a prince in the year 624 BC, in Kapilavastu (Nepal). Siddhartha left from his kingdom and went to several well-known teachers to study the ultimate nature of reality. He is known as the Buddha, was the leader and founder of a sect of wanderer ascetics, one of many sects which existed throughout the India. This sect came to be known as Sangha, to distinguish it from other similar communities, but their teachings didn’t satisfy him and he set out to find his own path. His father hoped that his son would one day become a great king. Historian says that the prince was kept away from all forms of religious knowledge and had no idea about the concepts of old age, sickness and death. Once on a trip through the city on a chariot he witnessed an old man, a diseased person, and a corpse. This new knowledge about the sufferings in the world gave rise to several questions within his mind and the prince soon renounced all his worldly affairs in order to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Finally after years of rigorous contemplation and meditation, he found Enlightenment, and became the Buddha, meaning “awakened one” or “the enlightened one”
साकेत’ महाकाव्य-मैथिलीशरण गुप्त ’’आदर्श नारी चारित्र की उदभावना’
महाकाव्यों की परम्परा में ’रामचारित चिन्तामणि’ के बाद मैथिलीशरण गुप्त के ’साकेत’ (1929 ई.) का नाम आता है। इसमें कवि ने परम्परागत परिपाटी का अनुकरण करते हुए अनेक मौलिक विशेषताओं की सृष्टि की है। यह एक सर्ग बध्द रचना है। इसमें आठ से अधिक बारह सर्ग हैं। कथानक लोकविश्रुत रामकथा है। विप्रलम्भ श्रृंगार की प्रधानता है, करूण, वीर, रौद्र आदि रस उसके सहायक हैं। गुप्त जी ने नारी को भारतीय आदर्श के ढालने की चेष्टा की है। भौतिक पक्क्ष में नारी ’रति’ का प्रतिरूप है, वह विश्व की मधुर कल्पना है। अतः नारी परुष की अनिवार्य आवश्यकता के रूप में प्रकट हुई है। साथ ही बौध्दिक क्षेत्र में वह उच्च है। हृदय की विशालता तथा सहानभुति उसके आभूषण रहे हैं।’साकेत’ एक चरित्र प्रधान काव्य है। उसमें उर्मिला का चरित्र कथा से सम्बन्धित अन्य पात्रों के मध्य विकसित होता है। यधपि यह बात अवश्य है कि गुप्तजी को अनेक स्थलों पर कला में परिवर्तन करना पड़ा है। जिससे उनके महाकाव्य में मौलिकता का समावेश हो गया है। वैसे मूलतः यह कथा ’वाल्मीकि रामायण तथा रामचरित मानस’ से सम्बन्धित है। एसे काव्य की सफलता के लिए आवश्यक है कि उसके सभी पात्र मुख्य पात्र के चरित्र पर घात प्रतिघात व्दारा प्रभाव डालें। इस दृश्टि से ’साकेत’ एक सफल काव्य माना जाता है। उसके सभी पात्रों का सम्बन्ध प्रत्यक्ष अथवा अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से उर्मिला के चरित्र से सम्बन्धित रहता है
