    Get PDF
This study aims to design and implement Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) on set material with the context of school snacks for Junior High School students. The main focus of this study is to support students' understanding of basic set concepts, such as subsets, intersections, and unions, through a contextual approach that is relevant to students' daily lives. The research method used is educational design research, which includes the planning, implementation, and analysis phases of learning outcomes. The subjects of the study were grade VII students at a junior high school in Tasikmalaya City. The research instruments included: observation sheets, concept understanding tests, and interviews to explore students' thinking processes during learning. The results showed that the use of the school snack context was relevant to the topic of sets and was able to increase students' interest and motivation in learning set material. Students' conceptual understanding also increased significantly, especially in identifying set elements, as well as understanding intersections and unions between sets through visual representations and group activities. The discussion of these results emphasizes that HLT with everyday contexts, such as school snacks, provides opportunities to link abstract material to students' real experiences, thus facilitating meaningful learning. The implementation of this research provides practical implications for teachers in designing context-based learning that can be used for other materials, as well as a reference for developing a curriculum that is more relevant to life.

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze students' errors in solving problems around the perimeter and area of the circle based on the error category according to Nolting. These errors include conceptual, procedural, and calculation errors. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. The subjects of the study were 30 grade VIII students from a junior high school in Tasikmalaya. Research instruments included a written test designed to identify the type of error according to Nolting as well as a semi-structured interview to dig deeper into the causes of the error. The results showed that 28.5% of students experienced conceptual errors, 53.5% of students experienced procedural errors and 14.2% of students experienced calculation errors. Most students experience conceptual errors because they make mistakes in using the circumference and circle area formulas. Students also tend to make mistakes in distinguishing diameters and radius, as well as calculation errors on decimal numbers in multiplication and division operations. The discussion underlined that procedural errors are mostly caused by students' lack of conceptual understanding of the circle formula, while calculation errors often arise due to a lack of precision. The implementation of this research can be used by mathematics teachers to design more effective teaching strategies in overcoming students' systematic errors, such as emphasizing the understanding of basic concepts before introducing more complex problems, as well as increasing exercises that involve the application of formulas in a variety of ways

Approximate Bayesian Inference for Bayesian Confidence Quantification in DNA Sequence Classification Using Monte Carlo Dropout Approach

    No full text
Splice junction classification in DNA sequences is critical for understanding genetic structures and processes, particularly the differentiation between exon-intron (EI), intron-exon (IE), and neither boundaries. Traditional neural network models achieve high accuracy but often lack the ability to quantify uncertainty, which is essential for reliability in sensitive applications such as bioinformatics. This study addresses this limitation by incorporating Bayesian confidence quantification into DNA sequence classification using the Monte Carlo Dropout (MCD) approach. A baseline neural network was first implemented as a reference, achieving a test accuracy of 95.61%. Subsequently, MCD was applied, which not only improved the test accuracy to 96.03% but also provided uncertainty estimation for each prediction by sampling multiple inferences. The uncertainty values enabled the identification of low-confidence predictions, enhancing the interpretability and reliability of the model. Experiments were conducted on a binary-encoded DNA sequence dataset, representing nucleotides (A, C, G, T) and their splice junctions. The results demonstrated that MCD is a robust approach for DNA sequence classification, offering both high predictive performance and actionable insights through uncertainty quantification. This research highlights the potential of Bayesian confidence quantification in genomic studies, particularly for tasks requiring high reliability and interpretability. The proposed approach bridges the gap between accurate predictions and the need for robust uncertainty estimation, contributing to advancements in bioinformatics and machine learning applications in genetic research
