    Widow Stigma: A Critical Study of the Discrimination of Widow in Public (Islamic Perspective and Gender)

    This article aims to describe the stigma of the people of Tukum village, Tekung sub-district, Lumajang district towards women with widow status. It uses field research with a qualitative approach and an analysis of Islam and gender. The results are the emergence of negative perceptions of widow status because of male dominance in social life. They underestimate widowed women more easily than widowed men. Even though two widower statuses are the equivalent of widowed status because of the end of a divorce. However, there is also a positive stigma found by assuming that a widow cannot be underestimated. This is supported that there are widows who can be the backbone of their husbands after a divorce. Through gender analysis, differences in the image of widows were historically formed based on several factors. It was then socialized, strengthened, and built through socio-cultural, even supported by myths or religious misinterpretations. In Islam, the principle of justice is strongly upheld, equality of rights and obligations to men and women. They are adjusted to their respective responsibilities without preferences and discrimination that benefit men and harm women.Artikel ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan stigma masyarakat Desa Tukum, Tekung Kabupaten Lumajang terhadap wanita berstatus janda. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dalam analisis Islam dan gender. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah munculnya persepsi negatif terhadap status janda dikarenakan dominasi laki-laki dalam kehidupan sosial masyarakat. Mereka cenderung lebih mudah menganggap rendah janda daripada duda, padahal status duda adalah padanan status janda sebagai dampak berakhirnya sebuah perceraian. Namun stigma positif, menunjukkan seorang janda juga tidak bisa dianggap remeh. Hal ini didukung oleh fakta bahwa janda justru mampu menjadi tulang punggung suami setelah adanya perceraian. Melalui analisis gender pembedaan citra janda secara historis terbentuk berdasarkan beberapa faktor yang kemudian disosialisasikan, dikuatkan, dibangun melalui sosio-kultural, bahkan didukung oleh mitos atau kekeliruan interpretasi agama. Dalam Islam prinsip keadilan sangat dijunjung tinggi. Kesetaraan dan kesederajatan hak dan kewajiban kepada laki-laki dan wanita disesuaikan dengan tanggung jawabnya masing-masing tanpa preferensi dan diskriminasi yang menguntungkan laki-laki dan merugikan wanita

    Gender Symbolic Interactionism Efforts to Create Ukhuwah (Study on PMI Volunteer Corps, Pekalongan Regency)

    The object of the research is the volunteers of KSR PMI Pekalongan Regency. Researchers found the carrion between of gender communication and the interaction of symbols between volunteers in pro-social practices in the humanitarian field. The author conducted research within the KSR PMI organization in Pekalongan to know how the symbolic interaction of its  gender in realizing ukhuwah together research each er used phenomenological qualitative meta od with purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the symbolic interaction between KSR volunteers was work efficiency, where there were no gaps in the task process of PMI KSR volunteers. The division of labor over the gender of the volunteers of KSR PMI Pekalongan Regency has differences between male and female volunteers. But even the difference is based on the principle of specialization and individual volunteer abilities. This research can build a correct and gender-biased view of the body of the PMI KSR and prioritize the main goals and tasks in the community. The research has limitations in the symbolic interactions occur in the PMI KSR. The author only study in the narrative qualitative paradigm and only produces signs as symbol.Objek penelitian yakni relawan KSR PMI Kabupaten Pekalongan, peneliti menjumpai korelasi komunikasi gender dan interaksi simbol antar relawan dalam praktik prososial di bidang kemanusiaan. Penulis melakukan penelitian dalam tubuh organisasi KSR PMI Kabupaten Pekalongan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Interaksi simbolik Gender dalam mewujudkan ukhuwah bersama. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif fenomenologi dengan teknik penarikan sampel secara purposive. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan interaksi simbolik antar relawan KSR bentuk atas efensiensi kerja dimana tidak terdapat kesenjangan dalam proses tugas relawan KSR PMI. Pembagian kerja atas gender relawan KSR PMI Kabupaten Pekalongan tidak mencolok dan bersifat normatif. Secara harfiah tusi relawan laki-laki dan perempuan memang dibedakan namun perbedaan inipun berdasarkan asas peminatan dan kemampuan individu relawan. Penelitian ini dapat membangun pandangan yang benar dan tidak bias gender ditubuh KSR PMI serta lebih mengedepankan tujuan dan tugas utama dalam umat. Penelitian penulis memiliki keterbatasan, bahwa interaksi simbolik yang terjadi di tubuh KSR PMI hanya penulis kaji dalam paradigma kualitatif naratif dan hanya menghasilkan tanda sebagai wujud simbol

    Gender Communication For Disaster Education In Women’s Prison

    Disaster education is essential in creating a prison system that is resilient to disasters. However, it is still designed commonly in Indonesia and is not gender specific. This research emphasizes  how crucial gender communication is for disaster education in prison, particularly in female prisons. This research aims to identify how gender is communicated during disaster education at Lapas Perempuan Kelas IIB Yogyakarta. It started with a research question on how the implementation of gender communication between women staff and women prisoners during disaster education. The method used in this study was a case study method used at Lapas Perempuan Kelas IIB Yogyakarta. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and document studies. The results discovered that the gender communication process during disaster education at Lapas Perempuan Kelas IIB Yogyakarta still did not completely accommodate women prisoners’ needs. This research highlights the relationship between gender issues and the women’s access to disaster management in Indonesia. The results are expected to encourage women’s participation in disaster management, also improve disaster education quality in women’s prisons.Disaster education is essential in creating a prison system that is resilient to disasters.     Andi Depu and Women’s Leadership in the Colonial Era: A Study of Feminism

    This research departs from the problem of the existence of stereotypes against women who have intellectual qualities below men, because emotional feelings dominate in women. This has implications for the view that women are unfit to lead and ideal women are those who work in the kitchen, but such stereotypes actually lead to various discriminations against women. In this article, we will present the figure of Andi Depu as a female leader in Balanipa, who fought against the invaders. The methodology used in this study, namely the type of research: Library Research or literature study, nature of the research: qualitative, research method: descriptive analysis and using a feminist approach. The results in this study, namely: Andi Depu's leadership is a form of anti-thesis to the perception of society that views women as weak creatures, so they cannot be used as leaders. In addition, Andi Depu's leadership is also a form of anti-thesis to the misogynistic view which states that women only play a role in the domestic sphere and do not have a social role.Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya stereotip terhadap perempuan yang dianggap memiliki kualitas akal di bawah laki-laki karena perasaan emosional perempuan lebih mendominasi. Hal tersebut berimplikasi pada adanya pandangan ketidakpantasan perempuan untuk memimpin dan perempuan hanya dianggap ideal jika mereka bekerja di dapur. Stereotip tersebut menimbulkan beragam diskriminasi terhadap perempuan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kepemimpinan Andi Depu dari sudut pandang feminisme yang mencoba memperlihatkan sosok perempuan sebagai fakta historis yang memimpin sebuah kerajaan dan sebagai bentuk antitesis terhadap pandangan diskriminatif terhadap perempuan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi pustaka dengan  menggunakan pendekatan kajian  feminisme. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan Andi Depu merupakan bentuk antitesis terhadap persepsi masyarakat yang memandang perempuan sebagai makhluk yang lemah, sehingga tidak bisa dijadikan sebagai pemimpin. Selain itu, kepemimpinan Andi Depu menjadi bentuk antitesis terhadap pandangan misoginis yang menyatakan bahwa perempuan hanya berperan dalam ranah domestik dan tidak memiliki peran sosial

    Mother’s Love beyond the Mask: Resilience of Covid-19 Mother Survivors in Indonesia

    The curve of Covid-19 in Indonesia has not sloped, the positive number of this virus continues to increase. One groups affected Covid-19 are working mothers who have babies and still need to feed and take care for the babies. The positive status of Covid-19 for these mothers is certainly not easy because it has its own dynamics. They got anxiety about their health and safety as well as the babies. It is aggravated by anxiety of self-isolation so they are forced to be separated from their family and relatives. This study aims to understand a unique case in depth so that the methodology used is a case study. The data obtained through interviews with one subject, a mother who has survived Covid-19. The research data were analyzed by data reduction stages, by making verbatim and then making exploratory comments. From these exploratory comments the data then developed into emergent themes which will then be reduced and grouped under super-ordinate themes. The results of the study describe eight themes, namely: (1) Dark phase, (2) Closure, (3) Coping strategies, (4) Refocusing and Move on, (5) Adaptable, (6) Social Support, (7) Spirituality, and (8) Self Regard. This study found that during self-isolation, participant succeeded in developing her resilience in facing difficult times.Angka positif pengidap Covid-19 di Indonesia semakin hari semakin meningkat. Salah satu kelompok yang terdampak adalah para ibu pekerja yang memiliki bayi dan masih membutuhkan ASI serta perawatan. Status positif Covid-19 si ibu tentu bukan sesuatu yang mudah untuk dilewati karena memiliki dinamika tersendiri. Hal ini karena stres yang dirasa karena cemas akan kesehatan dan keselamatan diri sendiri dan bayinya ditambah dengan kecemasan karena si ibu harus melakukan isolasi mandiri sehingga terpaksa harus terpisah dari keluarga dan kerabat terdekat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tingkat kemampuan seorang ibu penyintas Covid-19 dalam beradaptasi dalam menghadap penyakit yang diderita. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam. Analisis data dilakukan dengan mereduksi data dan membuat komentar eksploratoris. Dari komentar eksploratoris, data tersebut dikembangkan menjadi tema emergent yang selanjutnya akan direduksi dan dikelompokkan dalam tema superordinate. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan delapan tema, yaitu: (1) Dark phase, (2) Closure, (3) Coping strategies, (4) Refocusing and Move On, (5) Adaptable, (6) Social Support, (7) Spirituality, (8) Self Regard. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa selama melakukan isolasi mandiri, partisipan berhasil mengembangkan resiliensinya dalam menghadapi masa-masa sulit

    Prevention of Consecuences of Social Stratification between Husband and Wife through Gender Role Harmonization

    The research describe of consequences of social stratification on husband and wife. Family structure states that the husband is the patriach and the wife below him. And than talking about efforts to prevent negative impacts from social stratification with a gender approach. This study uses empirical research by interacting directly with 20 informans, maried couples. The result of the research indicated that some of the family especially husbands were considered to have the high strata in their families. As a consecuence of social stratification between husband and wife in the family is proven that most husbands have the privilege of being served and have the full right to make decisions. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent the consecuences of social stratification in family. The pattern of husband and wife relations can be carried out according to their roles and positions, so that a harmonious, happy and comfortable family is created.Penelitian ini menggambarkan konsekuensi dalam stratifikasi sosial antar suami istri dalam sebuah struktur keluarga yang menyatakan bahwa suami menjadi kepala keluarga, sedangkan istri mempunyai kedudukan lebih rendah tingkatannya dibanding suami.  Studi ini menjelaskan upaya meminimalisir stratifikasi sosial dalam keluarga dengan memakai pendekatan gender, sebagai bentuk perwujudan harmonisasi pasangan suami istri. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian empiris dengan cara berinteraksi langsung dengan 20 informan pasangan suami istri.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian keluarga, terutama suami, masih dianggap mempunyai strata paling atas dalam keluarga. Hal yang menjadi konsekuensi dari stratifikasi sosial suami istri ini dibuktikan dengan adanya kebanyakan suami memiliki hak istimewa untuk selalu dilayani atau mempunyai hak sepenuhnya dalam memberikan segala keputusan yang berhubungan dengan keluarga. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan upaya pencegahan terhadap  konsekuensi stratifikasi sosial dalam keluarga. Agar pola relasi suami-istri dapat dilakukan sesuai peran dan kedudukannya sehingga akan tercipta keluarga yang harmonis, keluarga yang penuh kebahagiaan dan kenyamanaan

    Underage Marriage Reviewing from the Law Number 1, 1974 & PMA Number 11, 2007 (A Case Study in Soppeng District)

    This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing of the Law of Republic of Indonesia Number 1, 1974 concerning marriage and the Regulation of the Minister of Religion Number 11 of 2007 concerning Marriage Registration, especially the minimum age limit in marriage. This research is a qualitative descriptive study which describe underage marriages in Soppeng Regency. The approach used are the syar’i and the juridical approach. The results show that the understanding of the people of Soppeng Regency to Law No. 1/1974 about the age requirement for marriage recognized. But some people do not obey these rules, due to lack of education, economic crush, and promiscuity. The existence of Law Number 1 of 1974, especially the minimum age requirement for marriage, is still not effective. As the results of the data got in various Offices of Religious Affairs (KUA) and at the Religious Courts of Soppeng Regency, the number of prospective brides who are not old enough to marry. They apply for dispensation at the Religious Courts and the Panel of Judges grants their request to marry.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pemberlakuan Undang-Undang Republik Indonesia Nomor 1 Tahun 1974 tentang Perkawinan dan Peraturan Menteri Agama Nomor 11 Tahun 2007 tentang Pencatatan Nikah terkhusus batas usia minimum dalam perkawinan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang menggambarkan perkawian di bawah umur di Kabupaten Soppeng. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan syar’i dan pendekatan yuridis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman dan ketaatan masyarakat Kabupaten Soppeng terhadap Undang-Undang Nomor 1 Tahun 1974 khususnya syarat usia perkawinan telah diakui keberadaannya. Namun, masih banyak yang belum menaati aturan tersebut karena kurangnya pendidikan, himpitan ekonomi, dan pergaulan bebas. Eksistensi Undang-Undang Nomor 1 Tahun 1974 khususnya syarat usia minimum perkawinan masih kurang efektif. Sebagaimana hasil data yang diperoleh di berbagai Kantor Urusan Agama (KUA) dan di Peradilan Agama Kabupaten Soppeng, yaitu banyaknya calon pengantin yang belum cukup umur untuk menikah sehingga bermohon Dispensasi di Pengadilan Agama dan dikabulkan permohonannya oleh Majelis Hakim untuk melangsungkan perkawinan

    Gender and Communication Style: Overview on Face-to-Face Communication and Online Text (Whatsapp Group)

    This study aims to compare the styles of communication based on gender differences when communicating face-to-face and when communicating through whatsapp group media. The method used is a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data analysis used is interactive qualitative analysis, data presentation, drawing, conclusions and verification. The research subjects consisted of 10 students who were members of the whatsapp group "Blitar Student Family (KMB). The findings of this study indicate that there are differences in masculine and feminine communication styles through two communication channels. The communication style of masculin in men cannot completely be transferred to communication through virtual media, whatsapp group. Likewise for the feminine communication style, most of which are no longer maintained on virtual world communication channels. The implication of this research is that there is a change in feminine and masculine communication styles if communication done through text-based online communication media.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbandingan gaya berkomunikasi yang ditinjau berdasarkan perbedaan gender pada saat berkomunikasi secara tatap muka dan pada saat berkomunikasi melalui media whatsapp group. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitiatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data kualitatif interaktif meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, serta penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 10 orang mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam grup whatsapp “Keluarga Mahasiswa Blitar (KMB)”. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan gaya berkomunikasi maskulin dan feminin melalui dua saluran komunikasi. Gaya komunikasi maskulin pada pria tidak sepenuhnya dapat dipindahkan pada komunikasi melalui media maya, dalam hal ini whatsapp group. Begitupun pada gaya komunikasi feminin yang sebagian besarnya tidak lagi dipertahankan pada saluran komunikasi dunia maya. Implikasi penelitian ini mengarahkan pada adanya perubahan gaya berkomunikasi feminin dan maskulin jika komunikasi dilakukan melalui media komunikasi online berbasis teks

    Gender in the Perspective of Islamic Shari'a and Constitution (Straightening the View of the Relationship between Women and Men)

    This research discussed about the relationship between men and women. In the existing reality, women are still marginalized since ancient times until now. This is due to the influence of understanding on religious texts and various other factors so that the differences in the relationship between the two can be seen in all aspects of life. The research method used is library research. In this study, it is argued that in the perspective of Islamic law, the relationship between the two is the same in terms of identity to the creator (worship of mahdah and gairu mahdah) as well as in the constitution that everyone has the same rights on politic, law, voting, and education. Everyone without exception has protection and right in the law.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengemukakan tentang relasi antara laki-laki dengan perempuan. Dalam kenyataan yang ada, perempuan masih termarginalkan sejak dahulu hingga sekarang. Demikian itu dilatarbelakangi oleh pengaruh dalam memahami doktrin keagamaan dan berbagai faktor lainnya sehingga perbedaan relasi antara keduanya dapat terlihat segala aspek kehidupan. Library research atau penilitian pustaka merupakan jenis penelitian yang dipilih. Dikemukakan bahwa dalam perspektif syariat Islam relasi antara keduanya sama dalam hal kepribadatan kepada sang pencipta (ibadah mahda dan gairu mahda) dan begitupun dalam konstitusi seperti bidang politik, persamaan dihadapan hukum, hak suara dan pendidikan. Bahwa setiap manusia mempunyai hak serta kedudukan sama tanpa dipersyaratkan dan dikecualikan dalam memperoleh perlindungan dan hak-hak dalam hukum

    Hadith about Women’s Reproductive Rights: A Critical Study

    Efforts to harmonize duties and rights, especially regarding reproduction, need to be given more attention because it relate them to the fulfillment of human rights. Reproductive rights in this sense do not differentiate between men and women. However, because women who have more and more tasks have a greater risk in each task, it is necessary for everyone to understand women's reproductive rights. This research is a library research which was analyzed using descriptive analytical and thematic methods. The focus of this research is the study of thematic hadith studies regarding women’s reproductive rights. The results show that Islam as a religion that highly respects women has regulated in the hadiths related to reproductive rights. They are the right to have sexual intercourse and determine pregnancy.Upaya penyelarasan antara tugas dan hak terutama mengenai reproduksi perlu menjadi perhatian lebih karena kaitannya dengan pemenuhan hak asasi manusia. Hak reproduksi dalam pengertiannya tidak membedakan baik untuk laki-laki maupun perempuan. Namun karena perempuan yang memiliki tugas  lebih banyak dan lebih memiliki resiko yang besar dalam setiap tugas itu maka perlu bagi setiap orang untuk memahami hak reproduksi terutama pada perempuan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan (librarian research) yang dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis serta tematik. Fokus penelitian ini ialah kajian telaah hadis tematik mengenai hak reproduksi perempuan. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa Islam sebagai agama yang sangat menjunjung tinggi perempuan telah mengatur dengan terperinci dalam hadis–hadis yang berhubungan dengan hak reproduksi meliputi hak berhubungan seksual serta melakukan penetuan kehamilan
