    The Complexity Role of Muslim Women in Java

    The study of gender cannot be separated from theological studies, because all religions have special treatment for women. The position of women in several religions and beliefs is placed as second class. As a result, the condition of women continues to be in a state of loss because of religious pretexts or legitimacy. This article discusses the basis of gender stereotypes in Islam, gender biased interpretation of the Qur’an, and gender equality in Islamic culture in Java. This study uses a library research approach. The result is that the Qur’an has explicitly tried to increase the dignity of women. This condition shows that Islam emphasizes that both men and women are given equal opportunities to achieve positions or degrees according to their abilities. These Islamic values ??are then firmly adhered to in realizing gender equality in Islamic culture in Javanese society, so that they can destroy perceptions of the position, dignity, and worth of men and women.     Psychosocial Perspective on Menopausal Transition to Achieve Psychological Well-Being: Literature Review

    The menopausal transition is a critical phase for psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety, with depression prevalence rates ranging up to 20% during menopause. However, most women are able to overcome this phase well so they look tough. This study aimed to find out psychosocial factors influencing the psychological well-being of women during the menopausal transition. This transition period occurs when women reach the age of 40-54 years, marked by menstrual irregularities until menstruation stops occurring naturally. Most women will experience physical symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and other symptoms. This study used the literature review method with the Google Scholar database for Indonesian language articles and the Science Direct database for English language articles. This process succeeded in collecting 709 articles published in 2013-2023. The results showed that several psychosocial factors influence psychological well-being during the perimenopause period, including vasomotor symptoms (hot flushes, sleep disorders, menstrual disorders, decreased memory, muscle pain, emotional irritability, reduced sexual interest), socio-demographic conditions (single, obesity, smoker, age, occupation), awareness, attitude, self-efficacy, support, education, and stress level. Thus, the research implication shows that understanding the psychosocial factors in the perimenopause phase is important for women, so that they can get through the transition period healthily and prosperously.Transisi menopause merupakan fase kritis untuk gangguan psikologis seperti depresi dan kecemasan, dengan tingkat prevalensi depresi berkisar hingga 20% selama menopause. Namun demikian, sebagian besar perempuan mampu mengatasi fase transisi reproduksi ini dengan baik sehingga tampak tangguh. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji faktor-faktor psikososial yang mempengaruhi kesejahteraan psikologis perempuan selama transisi menopausal. Masa transisi ini sekitar usia 40-54 tahun, ditandai dengan ketidakteraturan menstruasi yang berpuncak pada penghentian menstruasi secara alami. Perempuan akan mengalami gejala fisik seperti hot flushes, keringat malam, dan gejala lain. Metode penelitian menggunakan literature review, berbasis database google scholar untuk artikel berbahasa Indonesia dan science direct untuk artikel berbahasa Inggris. Terkumpul artikel sebanyak 709, yang dipublikasikan tahun 2013-2023. Hasil penelusuran artikel menunjukkan beberapa faktor psikososial yang berpengaruh pada kesejahteraan psikologi saat periode perimenopause, antara lain: vasomotor symptom (hot flushes, gangguan tidur, gangguan haid, penurunan daya ingat, nyeri otot, iritabilitas emosi, penurunan minat seksual), keadaan sosio demografik (tidak memiliki pasangan, obesitas, perokok, usia, pekerjaan), kesadaran, sikap, self‑efficacy, dukungan, pendidikan, dan tingkat stres. Implikasi penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman terhadap faktor-faktor psikososial pada fase perimenopause penting untuk para perempuan, agar dapat melewati masa trnasisi dengan sehat dan sejahtera

    Big Five Personality and Fear of Missing Out on Teenage Girls who Used Social Media

    This study aims to determine the relationship between the big five personalities and the fear of missing out (FoMO) in adolescent girls who use social media. In the big five personality variables, the research focused only on three personality traits, namely neuroticism, extraversion, and agreeableness. Meanwhile, two personality traits, namely openness to experience and conscientiousness, were not examined in this study. This type of research is quantitative, with the sampling technique using quota sampling. Research participants are female adolescents who live in Manado City, with an age range of 17 to 20 years, and have social media, with 222 participants. All participants who took part in this study used social media for over 3 hours per day. Data collection was done by distributing two types of questionnaires simultaneously and the questionnaire comprised a big five inventory and fear of missing out scales. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the personality traits of extraversion and agreeableness with the fear of missing out on female social media users. While the neuroticism personality trait does not have a significant relationship.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan big five personality dengan fear of missing out (FoMO) pada remaja perempuan pengguna media sosial. Pada variabel big five personality, yang diteliti hanya berfokus pada tiga trait kepribadian yaitu neuroticism, extraversion, dan, agreeableness. Sedangkan dua trait kepribadian yaitu openness to experience dan conscientiousness tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini. Jenis penelitian adalah kuantitatif, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan quota sampling. Partisipan penelitian adalah remaja berjenis kelamin perempuan yang berdomisili di Kota Manado, dengan rentang usia 17 sampai 20 tahun, memiliki media sosial, dengan total partisipan berjumlah 222. Semua partisipan yang mengikuti penelitian ini menggunakan media sosial lebih dari 3 jam per hari. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan cara membagikan dua jenis kuisioner secara bersamaan dan kuisioner tersebut terdiri dari big five inventory dan fear of missing out scales. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan pada trait kepribadian extraversion dan agreeableness dengan fear of missing out remaja perempuan pengguna media sosial. Sedangkan pada trait kepribadian neuroticism tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan

    Tana Luwu’s Local Environmental Wisdom (Vandana Shiva’s Ecofeminism Perspective)

    This study aims to determine the form and practice of Luwu's local wisdom in Vandana Shiva's ecofeminism perspective. This study used descriptive qualitative methods focusing on the indigenous peoples of Kalotok, Kanan Dede, and Komba. The study found that: (1) the forms of local wisdom of Luwu in the perspective of ecofeminism as follows; Tudang sipulung (round-down sitting), pesta panen (harvesting party), and tomakaka perempuan (local-noble female); (2) Local wisdom practices of Luwu in the perspective of ecofeminism have been embodied in deliberation and negotiation between community leaders for some events. The practices are the planting season, when someone violates customs, cutting down trees for building a house, ‘pesta panen’ (harvest celebrations by the community), ‘makan bersama’ (congregational feast between community groups), the involvement of women as tomakaka (noble person), and the existence of women's farmer groups.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui wujud dan praktik keartifan lokal Tana Luwu dalam perpektif ekofeminisme Vandana Shiva. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan objek penelitian masyarakat adat Kalotok, Kanan Dede, dan Komba. Adapun hasil dalam penelitian ini ditemukan wujud kearifan lokal Tana Luwu dalam perspektif ekofeminisme; (1) Tudang sipulung, pesta panen, Tomaka perempuan. (2) Sementara praktik kearifan lokal Tana Luwu dalam perspektif ekofeminisme; musyawarah antar tokoh masyarakat saat ingin turun ke sawah, musyawarah antar tokoh masyakat saat ada yang melanggar adat, musyawarah antar tokoh masyarakat saat ingin menebang pohon untuk ramuan rumah, perayaan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat saat panen padi telah selesai, makan bersama antar kelompok masyarakat, keterlibatan perempuan sebagai Tomakaka, dan praktik yang terakhir adalah adanya kelompok tani perempuan

    Concept of Ideal Marriage in Early Adults

    This study aims to analyze how the concept of ideal marriage in early adulthood is. This study uses a qualitative approach with a survey research design by distributing questionnaires followed by 27 early adults. Their age was 19-25 years with a high school education background (26%) and university (74%). The research subjects are domiciled from several regions in Indonesia, namely Makassar, Gowa, Ketapang, Barru, Soppeng, Takalar, Pare-Pare, Malang, Tana Toraja, and West Kalimantan. The results showed that the concept of ideal marriage in early adulthood can be seen from: (1) age, namely in the age range of 23-26 years; (2) mental readiness 100%; (3) financial readiness at 96.3%; (4) moral readiness 96.3%; (5) communicating the number of children and parenting 96.3%; (6) understanding each other’s roles husband/wife 92.6%; and (7) religion by 92.6%. The implication of this research is to be a reference for individuals, especially those who are in the early adult phase in designing and determining the concept of an ideal marriage that will be lived. So that they can create a prosperous family and avoid divorce.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana konsep pernikahan ideal pada dewasa awal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain penelitian survei berupa penyebaran kuesioner yang diikuti oleh 27 orang dewasa awal berusia 19-25 tahun dengan latar belakang pendidikan SMA (26%) dan Perguruan Tinggi (74%). Subjek penelitian berdomisili dari beberapa daerah di Indonesia yaitu Makassar, Gowa, Ketapang, Barru, Soppeng, Takalar, Pare-Pare, Malang, Tana Toraja, dan Kalimantan Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep pernikahan ideal pada dewasa awal dapat ditinjau dari: (1) usia yaitu pada rentang usia 23-26 Tahun, (2) kesiapan mental 100%, (3) kesiapan keuangan 96,3%, (4) kesiapan moral 96,3%, (5) mengkomunikasikan jumlah anak dan pola asuh 96,3%, (6) saling mehamami peran suami/istri 92,6%, serta (7) agama sebesar 92,6%. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjadi rujukan bagi individu khususnya yang telah berada di fase dewasa awal dalam merancang dan menentukan konsep pernikahan ideal yang akan dijalaninya kelak sehingga dapat mewujudkan keluarga yang sejahtera dan terhindar dari perceraian

    Local Government Policies and Participation of Religious Leaders Preventing Sexual Harassment After the Earthquake in Palu, Central Sulawesi

    This study aims to know the local government of Central Sulawesi Province on a temporary provision in preventing women survivors of the earthquake. And to know the actions of religious leaders in preventing sexual harassment of women who survived the earthquake in Palu. The discussion in this article departs from a qualitative descriptive study. Local government officials and religious leaders were the subjects of the interviews. The results showed that the local government in Central Sulawesi indirectly triggered the occurrence and sexual violence experienced by women who survived the earthquake in temporary shelters. This refers to aspects of communication, resources, attitude of implementers. Policy implementers in disaster management. Besides that, the religious leaders have given the role of preventing sexual intercourse with women who survived the earthquake. The varied roles given in preventing and fulfilling government obligations that are negligent towards the victims. Although it is realized that the contributions of these religious leaders are mostly focused on their people.        Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan kebijakan pemerintah daerah di Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah terhadap penyediaan hunian sementara dalam mencegah pelecehan seksual perempuan penyintas gempa di Palu; dan mengetahui tindakan-tindakan para tokoh agama dalam mencegah pelecehan seksual perempuan penyintas gempa di Palu. Pembahasan dalam artikel ini berangkat dari penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, dimana penulis mewawancarai informan dari pejabat pemerintah daerah dan pemuka agama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemerintah daerah di Sulawesi Tengah secara tidak langsung memicu terjadinya pelecehan dan kekerasan seksual yang dialami perempuan penyintas gempa di hunian sementara. Hal ini mengacu pada aspek komunikasi, sumberdaya, sikap pelaksana, dan struktur birokrasi pelaksana kebijakan dalam penanggulangan bencana. Disamping itu, tokoh agama telah memberikan peran mencegah pelecehan seksual terhadap perempuan penyintas gempa di Palu. Variatifnya peran yang diberikan pemuka agama dalam pencegahan, mengisi kewajiban pemerintah yang lalai terhadap para korban, meskipun disadari kontribusi para tokoh agama ini mayoritas tertuju pada umatnya

    Fulfillment of The Children's Needs: Cultural Economic Actors and Capital in Building Welfare of Life

    Children are one of the nation’s development assets that is believed to change the level of welfare of people’s lives. Therefore, the fulfillment of children’s rights is part of human rights that must be guaranteed and fulfilled by parents, society, and the state. Fulfillment of children’s need is important because it can affect the growth and development of children. The main problem in this study is how to fulfill the rights of children by parents? The aim is to describe the efforts made by parents in fulfilling the rights of children who work in sand mining. This type of research is classified as qualitative, with a sociological research approach. The theory used is functional structural theory. This theory interprets society as a structure with parts that are always related and influence each other. The data collection methods used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that there were four efforts made by parents in fulfilling children’s rights, namely: fulfillment of the right to life, fulfillment of growth and development rights, fulfillment of protection rights, and fulfillment of children’s participation rights. So that with these efforts, some children can carry out their basic rights.Anak merupakan salah satu modal pembangunan bangsa yang diyakini mampu membuat perubahan dalam tingkat kesejahteraan hidup masyarakat. Oleh karena itu, pemenuhak hak anak merupakan bagian dari hak asasi manusia yang wajib dijamin, dilindungi, dan dipenuhi oleh orang tua, masyarakat, dan negara. Pemenuhan hak anak tergolong penting karena dapat mempengaruhi tumbuh kembang anak. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan upaya yang dilakukan oleh orang tua dalam pemenuhan hak anak yang bekerja di tambang pasir. Jenis penelitian tergolong kualitatif dengan pendekatan penelitian sosiologi. Adapun teori yang digunakan yaitu teori struktural fungsional, teori ini menafsirkan masyarakat sebagai sebuah struktur dengan bagian yang selalu berhubungan dan saling mempengaruhi satu sama lain. Selanjutnya, metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat empat upaya yang telah dilakukan oleh orang tua dalam pemenuhan hak anak yaitu: pemenuhan hak hidup, pemenuhan hak tumbuh kembang, pemenuhan hak perlindungan, dan pemenuhan hak partisipasi anak.     Perception of Ideal Body Image as Self-Disclosure in Early Adult Women

    The ideal body shape is a picture of how the shape and size of the body are proportional. Every individual has a different body concept about his body. Several research results reveal each individual has different perceptions related to body image. The difference in behavior can be seen from the pattern of social relations carried out. Adult women still pay attention to appearance and often compare their body shape with others, including weight. This study describes the body image of early adult women, which includes three components, namely perception, attitude, and behavior. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The number of research subjects was two early adult women with ages between 22-35 years. The results showed that between subjects 1 and 2 had differences in perceiving body image. Meanwhile, attitudes and behavior have the same results regarding body image. They are feeling satisfied when having an ideal body weight, feeling dissatisfied when the size of certain areas of the body is larger than others. The implications of being satisfied and dissatisfied in both subjects cause anxiety that impacts behavior. Both subjects control eating more, exercise, and use attributes that can support their appearance, so they are confident when socializing with other people.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan gambaran citra tubuh perempuan dewasa awal, yang meliputi tiga komponen, yaitu persepsi, sikap, dan perilaku. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Jumlah subjek penelitian sebanyak dua orang perempuan dewasa awaldengan usia antara 22 – 35 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa antara subjek 1 dan 2 memiliki perbedaan dalam memersepsi citra tubuh. Pada sikap dan perilaku memiliki hasil yang sama terkait citra tubuh, yaitu merasa puas ketika memiliki berat badan yang ideal, merasa tidak puas ketika ukuran pada daerah tertentu pada tubuhnya lebih besar dari pada orang lain. Implikasi dari puas dan ketidakpuasan pada kedua subjek tersebut menyebabkan kecemasan yang berdampak perilaku. Kedua subjek tersebut lebih banyak mengontrol makan, berolahraga, dan menggunakan atribut yang dapa menunjang penampilan mereka, sehingga percaya diri ketika bersosialisasi dengan orang lain

    Belis in the Marriage of the Dawan Community in East Nusa Tenggara

    This study determines the meaning of belis for the Dawan Tribe in Nonbaun Village. In addition, the study is to find out what are the inhibiting and supporting factors that influence the change in the meaning of belis for the Dawan Tribe in Nonbaun Village, East Nusa Tenggara. A qualitative method is used to conduct the research. The results show belis was interpreted as a tribute to the parents of a woman’s family. Wife’s rights in family can be guaranteed by giving belis from man. The provision of belis can regulate the behavior of the wife in the family. Giving belis can also affect the role of the wife in the household. Wife can work, become heirs, and have rights to their offspring later. Thus, the wife will be free to work at home without feeling awkward, and the wife can give opinions to the family or can act as a representative of the family in traditional events. The Dawan Tribe community places belis as an obligation, so the habit of giving belis is carried out continuously by the local community. This research implies that belis is currently experiencing a shift in meaning, previously containing the value of sacredness, and now that value has shifted to the commercial realm.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui makna belis bagi Suku Dawan di Desa Nonbaun. Selain itu untuk mengetahui faktor penghambat dan pendukung apa sajakah yang mempengaruhi perubahan makna belis bagi Suku Dawan di Desa Nonbaun, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa belis dimaknai sebagai penghargaan terhadap orangtua keluarga perempuan. Selanjutnya, hak istri dalam keluarga bisa dijamin dengan pemberian belis dari pihak laki-laki. Pemberian belis tersebut dapat mengatur perilaku istri dalam keluarga. Pemberian belis juga dapat berpengaruh terhadap peran istri dalam rumah tangga. Istri bisa bekerja, menjadi ahli waris, dan mempunyai hak terhadap anak keturunannya nanti. Dengan demikian, istri akan leluasa bekerja dalam rumah tanpa ada rasa canggung, serta istri dapat memberikan pendapat dalam keluarga atau dapat berperan sebagai perwakilan dari keluarga dalam acara-acara adat. Masyarakat Suku Dawan menempatkan belis sebagai suatu kewajiban, sehingga kebiasaan pemberian belis dilakukan terus menerus oleh masyarakat setempat. Penelitian ini mengimplikasikan bahwa belis saat ini sudah mengalami pergeseran makna yaitu sebelumnya mengandung nilai sakralitas, saat ini nilai tersebut telah tergeser ke ranah komersil

    Gender Justice Actualization through Gender Islamic School

    The Islamic School and Gender (SIG) is the first formal cadre of the Women’s Indonesian Islamic Student Movement Corps (PMII) after participating in the acceptance of new members organized by the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement to provide an understanding of the Islamic perspective in responding to gender issues. This study uses qualitative methods with interviews and participatory observations and documentation techniques as data collection techniques. The results show the Islamic School and Gender (SIG) organized by PMII convey the values ??of gender equality, mubadalah (mutuality), and partiality to women. Recommendations for this research are given to educational institutions that become places of gender equality socialization to make Islamic and Gender Schools as sone reference for students or young people to study Islam and gender.Sekolah Islam dan Gender (SIG) merupakan pengkaderan formal pertama Korps Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia (PMII) Putri setelah mengikuti penerimaan anggota baru yang diselenggerakan Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia dengan tujuan memberikan pemahaman mengenai cara pandang Islam dalam menanggapi isu gender. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan wawancara dan observasi partisipatif serta teknik dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengambilan data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Sekolah Islam dan Gender (SIG) yang diselenggarakan oleh PMII menyampaikan nilai-nilai kesetaraan gender, sikap mubadalah (kesalingan) dan keberpihakan atas perempuan. Rekomendasi penelitian ini diberikan kepada lembaga pendidikan yang menjadi tempat sosialisasi kesetaraan gender agar menjadikan Sekolah Islam dan Gender menjadi salah satu rujukan kepada mahasiswa atau anak muda untuk belajar Islam dan gender
