    Get PDF
Abstract— The domain decomposition method involves the finite element solution of problems in the parallel computer. The finite element discretization leads to the solution of large systems of linear equation whose matrix is naturally sparse. The use of proper storing techniques for sparse matrix is fundamental especially when dealing with large scale problems typical of industrial applications. The aim of this research is to review the sparsity pattern of the matrices originating from the discretization of the elasto-plastic and thermal-convection problems. Some practical strategies dealing with sparsity pattern in the finite element code of adventure system are recalled. Several efficient storage schemes to store the matrix originating from elasto-plastic and thermal-convection problems have been proposed. In the proposed technique, inherent block pattern of the matrix is exploited to locate the matrix element. The computation in the high performance computer shows better performance compared to the conventional skyline storage method used by the most of the researchers

Motivation is the most important factor which affects the academic success of the students. Students who have higher motivation engage more to the class activities. One of the reasons for having negative perspective and low academic success of student in science is that students have low motivation for science lessons. The purpose of the study is developing a scale to show motivation of middle school students towards science lessons. Data used in research gained from two independent study groups. The first study group (N=498) is used to determine the structure of factor of the study. The second study group (N=275) is used to test consistence of model and data. Total number of students in the study group is 773. The expression of the motivation of middle school students is shown with 52 items consisting of 2 sub-dimensions which are internal motivation and external motivation. 12 of these items are negative substances for the motivational elements of the science lessons. According to data obtained from the scales, explanatory and confirmatory factor analyzes were carried out during the process of testing the structural validity of the scale. As a result of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, model which consists of 21 items and 1 factor is appropriate for both theoretically and statistically. Reliability of the scale is examined by Cronbach Alpha coefficient calculated based on the internal consistency of the items and testing again. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency reliability coefficient of the scale is 0.79. Considering the results of reliability, it can be said that the scale has sufficient level of reliability. It can be thought that the scale can show the motivation of the students

In this paper is shown the possibilities to implement an energy solar system, without auxiliary elements, made to cool. The new technologies (vacuumpacked tube, tanks of build-up with variable volume, etc.), allow the possibility to obtain easily a stand-alone refrigerating system. Today it is always more and more the case where during the summer season there is a surplus of thermal energy whose use is to be assigned within the energy optimization system. The most immediate solution to this problem is the ability to produce cold by means of simple adsorption solutions, thus contributing to the cooling problem with low COP values. The most beneficial adsorbent both for its thermal/physical and low cost is the silica gel, a polymer of silicon dioxide, commonly used for its dehydrating properties, especially in the preservation of electronic material [1,3,13].In this study we have developed a dynamic model with the software trnsys to verify the obtaining of appropriate warm fluid for an innovative cooling system absorption with gel of silica and water and it is tested on a real building as case study. The dynamic model analyzes the performance thermodynamic balance of a small size system has been made (about 20-50 kW), adequate to cool a Building of 900 sq m. and allow to assess the conformation (surface, storage volume, etc.). of a  new generation solar power plant is able to guarantee a continuous operation during the summer period. We have tested a solar cooling system with solar vacuum collectors on a real Building with Meteo data  of three Cities as Rome Milan and Tunisi and we have tested the model comparing the results obtained. The model in fact allows to make a preliminary design of principal part of the plant and to evaluate function cost-benefit of a complex investment for innovative technology . The interesting results obtained allow at a later stage to make a prototype validating the theoretical results with experimental measures

Study on Developing a System with IP Functionality to Monitor the Status of Containers in Maritime Logistics

    Get PDF
There has been increasing demand from consignors and shipping companies for real-time monitoring of maritime cargo due to increases in fresh, dangerous, and high-value cargo. Although larger carriers have developed and integrated their own systems for such real-time monitoring services, small- and medium-sized shippers are struggling with the heavy costs and workforce associated with such capability. This study introduces a system that can do real-time monitoring of the location of shipping containers and their internal status by using IP-RFID that in cludes IP functionality. This system is composed of a tag, a smart point, and a service platform.  The monitoring tags are attached to regular containers to track the opening and closing of the doors, the internal temperature, and humidity. The tags then send the data to the smart point where the GPS information is added. The data packet is then finally transmitted to the service platform for location tracking.  In particular, as the tags in this system have IP functionality like Multicast, they are capable of communicating with the users and also allow users to control them. In order to provide such functionality, the smart points can serve as a gateway between the service platform and the tag. By managing the tag’s connection information and the status of transmission at the smart point, the service platform can directly communicate with tags connected to the respective smart point. This technology could be applied in a diverse range of maritime and non-maritime areas including warehouse management. As for maritime logistics, it also often goes through ground, port, and air transportation phases. Further studies should monitor the actual performance of this equipment across the various phases of maritime logistics to empirically test the systems proposed herein

Proposal and Evaluation of Pavement Deterioration Prediction Method by Recurrent Neural Network

    Get PDF
The pavement deterioration prediction model is a basic module of the PMS (Pavement Management System), and its prediction results influence the decision making of pavement administrators. Hence, it is very important to improve prediction accuracy. There is a rutting depth as a major indicator showing the state of pavement used in PMS. In this research, we propose a method to predict rutting depth by introducing a technique to improve prediction accuracy by suppressing over-fitting by dropout and gradient clipping in the recently rapidly developing NN (Neural Network) model. In addition, since pavement survey data are time series data that were inspected at the same place multiple times, we applied the RNN (Recurrent Neural Network) model which can model time series data. The proposed method was applied to rutting depth prediction of periodic survey data of Kawasaki city in Japan from 1987 to 2016. In order to compare prediction accuracy, we predicted three years later using proposed method and MLR (Multiple Linear Regression) which is a typical regression model and MLP (Multi-Layer Perceptron) which is most frequently used among NN models. The RMSE and correlation coefficient R between the prediction result and the measured value were compared. We validated that the prediction ability of RNN is the highest

Abstract— In today's world, the type of investment, prioritization and scheduling the extraction of mineral resources due to the constraints of resources, technologies and human resources, etc. strongly requires a strategic planning appropriated in this area. In terms of quantity and quality, the resources and mines in Semnan province would be seen among the richest mineral resources in Iran. However, due to a scarcity of compiled strategic planning in the mining industry, this prominent province plays a small role in the country's economic developments. In this regard, the exploration and evaluation of the strategic factors and a formulation of strategies seems to be vital. In this study, the analysis and formulation of the demanding strategy have been done by applying the strategic management approach SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). Then the resulting strategies have been prioritized by using a hierarchical multi-criteria decision analysis called AHP (Analytic Hierarchical Process). Three strategies: creation of industrial clusters in the field of handicraft production with raw materials of mud, clay and gypsum panels (S3), joint mineral investments with the other mines of the province (S8), and the creation of groundwork for the mineral production cooperative companies, gained the highest priorities. Three strategies: updating the existing coke-making companies and constructing small coke-making and coal-washing units (S5), forming the specialized, industrial, mining, strategic and advisory committees in the Semnan Provincial Government to facilitate the local laws and encourage investments in mining (S7), and a greater engagement of private sectors with the government (activate the role of mining engineering and a maximum participation in decision-making related to the industry of the province) gained the least priority. At last, using prioritized strategies, some systematic planning is chosen strategically to suit the current situation, and to make possible a development and utilization of the high potential capacities in the mining industry which are already provides in Semnan province.  Index Terms— mining industry, SWOT Analysis, Hierarchical Analysis, Semnan province

Abstract— The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of relational exchange and individual differences on the employee voice. In the light of social exchange theory, the present study proposed the relationship between Leader-member quality relationships and employee voice. This study explains ‘how’ this relationship establishes and ‘why’ this relationship keeps carrying on. It has been proposed that perception of organizational support mediates the association between leader-member quality relationships and employees’ promotive and prohibitive voice behaviors. Moreover, personality trait is another important factor which is inseparable from developing perceptions and behaviors. The perceptions about organizational support and the strength of raising voice can be highly predictable by individual’s personality traits. So, this study has undertaken core self-evaluation as personality trait and explores people having different core self-evaluation (CSE) shows different strengths for promotive and prohibitive voicing based on leader-member quality relationships (LMQR) and perceived organizational support (POS).    Index Terms-- Leader-member relationship, perceived organizational support, employee voice, core self-evaluation and social exchange theor
