ETHNO-CULTURAL BASES OF ANTHROPONYMS OF TURKIC PEOPLE
Anthroponyms encode information about the historical and social position of a particular ethnic group. In addition, the anthroponyms of the Uzbek people are tools containing incomparable information from a linguocultural point of view. This article emphasizes the importance of studying anthroponyms of Turkic peoples in the principles of interdisciplinary communication, the role of ethnocultural factors in anthroponyms, and the appearance of names in literary texts
YOUTH CLASSICS IN THE SLOVENIAN CURRICULUM (1869-2024)
The paper deals with youth classics or authors and/or works proposed in the Slovene curriculum over time, from the first curriculum found to date (1869) to 2024. The paper presents a comparative analysis of the proposed authors and works from Slovene and world literature. For this purpose, 56 curricula (1,915 pages in total) were analysed chronologically in five periods: 1) Austria-Hungary 1848-1918, 2) Kingdom of the SHS 1918-1941, 3) the period during World War II, 1941-1945 (1944), 4) SFRY 1945-1991, and 5) independent Slovenia or Slovenia as an EU member: 1991-2024

However, alongside these advancements, ethical considerations arise concerning data privacy, algorithmic biases, and operational transparency in AI-based language testing. Striking a balance between technological innovation and ethical implications becomes paramount for harnessing AI’s potential in enhancing language skills while addressing ethical concerns. Despite these challenges, the future of language testing with AI appears promising. As AI continues to evolve, its role in language assessment is poised to revolutionize educational practices and evaluation methodologies. With a conscientious approach to ethical considerations and continuous technological development, AI holds the promise of significantly enhancing language proficiency and learning processes in the foreseeable future
THE NEED FOR COMPARABLE CORPORA IN TRANSLATION TEACHING AND LEARNING
The primary objective of this research is to catalyze the scholarly progress of translation teaching and learning within higher education institutions in Albania, specifically in the preparation of students in the field of translation theory and practice. The study aims to contribute significantly to the theory and practice of translation by emphasizing the imperative to develop comparable corpora of English-Albanian texts across diverse text types. Additionally, the research will delve into establishing a typology of translation strategies in Albania. Building upon the pioneering efforts of the researchers in previous work, which involved the translation of English and Albanian texts using linguistic, stylistic, and semantic techniques, this study also pays meticulous attention to the intricate relationship between the translation process and its resulting product. By focusing on the development of comparable corpora, this research presents a valuable opportunity to enhance both the theory and practice of utilizing bilingual corpora in the context of translation teaching, learning, and research. The outcomes of this research endeavor will provide the foundational framework for the future formulation of a streamlined pedagogical typology specifically addressing the use of comparable corpora in teaching and learning translation strategies in the English-Albanian context. This typology, once developed, will further serve as the basis for generating a series of project concepts with the overarching goal of establishing cooperative agreements. These agreements are envisioned to foster collaboration in the future with colleagues from regional and Western universities, as well as with researchers and experts in the field of translation
CHARACTERISTICS OF OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION CULTURE
The article reveals the specific features of Uzbek formal communication etiquette and describes the concept of formal speech etiquette. The Uzbek people’s culture has subjected the most important procedures and established rules of oral formal speech communication to scientific analysis. In Uzbek linguistics, various scientific sources have analyzed and commented on speech etiquette units, usage characteristics of typical examples that have become stereotyped in the Uzbek language, and the issue of their place in official communication. The Uzbek people’s culture proposes these rules as the most crucial procedures and established guidelines for oral formal communication
LANGUAGE AND FORMATION OF NATIONAL IDENTITY: CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL ASPECT
This paper is devoted to the role of language in the formation of national identity. The author discusses the opinions of various experts from the fields of philosophy, sociology, political science and history, with a focus on the relationships among the nation, national identity and the national language. Various points of view concerning how linguistic processes and phenomena influence the formation of national ideology and self-identity are highlighted. The author analyzes how historical, political and social changes affect the linguistic and cultural aspects of nations. Special attention is given to the interaction between globalization and the preservation of linguistic and cultural diversity, as well as issues related to the integration and preservation of national uniqueness in the modern world. Ultimately, the author concludes that preserving existing linguistic and cultural diversity as a key element of maintaining and developing national identity is necessary
CONTRASTIVE ANALYSIS OF THE MORPHOLOGICAL STRUCTURE
Teachers have spent a lot of time researching the best and most accurate ways to evaluate pupils since there are so many different ways to assess tasks and because doing so can have an impact on the students. According to Heydarnejad, Tagavipour, Patra, and Farid Khafaga (2022) only a few empirical studies have attempted to determine how performance-based assessment (PBA) can affect reading comprehension (RCA), academic motivation (AM), foreign language anxiety (FLA), and students’ self-efficacy despite the significant role that PBA plays in influencing second language learning processes (SS-E). IMAGE OF THE CHILD IN SLOVENIAN CHILDREN’S LITERATURE
Period of childhood is supposed to be protected period. Adults are supposed to act for the benefit of the child, but reality shows us this is often not the case. Even the etymology of the word ‘child’ in Slovene (France Bezlaj, Marko Snoj) is showing the disparity in understanding of the word ‘child’ and of the real understanding of the child. On the basis of the etymological analyses of the word ‘child’ in the Bezlaj’s dictionary and in Snoj’s dictionary, we can say that the word appears the most often under the meaning of worker, farmhand, page, servant, slave, serf, and less as a boy, nipper, youngster, man, little boy. FROM PAGE TO STAGE: TEACHING ENGLISH THROUGH STUDENTS’ INVOLVEMENT IN PLAYWRITING, PRODUCTION AND PERFORMANCE
English language teaching is both challenging and satisfactory, especially when combined with student-oriented approaches. The focus of the paper will be the experience with third year undergraduate students of University of Tirana, Faculty of Foreign Language, English Department, during their courses on British Studies and Translation Criticism. The paper is a qualitative research describing the way English language students were involved in playwriting, production and performance of a variety show in English called “Curtain Call” by the end of their academic year April-June 2022. The paper reinforces the importance of offering extracurricular activities to English language students to encourage their creativity, academic development, language proficiency, cooperative learning and team building. The paper also seeks to offer a positive perspective of students´ experience on the stage of National Experimental Theatre in Tirana, and their familiarity with backstage, forestage, light effects, music, stage design, stage directions, proxemics, prosody, speakability, breathability, and many other theatrical elements. From the English language and culture teaching-learning perspective, the research offers a series of findings and recommendations on the importance of applying all the acquired knowledge on British and American Studies and Translation teaching-learning process in front of English-speaking spectators who could test their successful language and culture attainment when performing live in English while taking the stage.Keywords: English language teaching-learning process, language and culture acquisition and attainment, theatre stage, language proficiency, British and American culture
TRANSLATION CHALLENGES IN THE REPUBLIC OF NORTH MACEDONIA
Translation demands a deep understanding of both grammar and culture. Translators need to know the rules of a language as well as the habits of the people who speak it. Translation problems can appear in many forms: lexico-semantic, grammatical, syntactic, rhetorical, pragmatic or cultural. The challenges of translation in the Republic of North Macedonia are many.
