WOMAN STORYTELLING - CASE STUDIES OF PHILOMENE AND SCHECHEREZADE
In the 1999 monograph The Classic Fairy Tales (edited by Maria Tatar), Karen E. Rowe in the chapter “To Spin a Yarn: The Female Voice in Folklore and Fairy Tales” lists two metaphors for women storytellers, namely, as the first model - women writers - she cites the antique example of Philomela (Ovid: Metamorphoses), who was victimized on the basis of a myth and was literally and metaphorically without language, therefore she metaphorically weaved her story into a tapestry and sent it to her sister to read. The motive of the female weaver is also found in the Bible
THE ADMISSION OF ALBANIA TO THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS
The aim of this research is to bring to the public one of the most significant moments in the history of modern Albania. At the end of World War I the winning powers (Entente Allies) had to set up a new world order. For this purpose a Peace Conference was convened in Paris in January 1919. But, Albania was not included in new European projects, since its independence and territorial integrity was not respected. At the same time a new international organization – League of Nations – emerged. The League of Nations was an international organization whose mission was to maintain peace and collective security around the world. Therefore, the Albanian political elite viewed admission to the League as their best hope to preserve Albania. Albania's request for admission was rejected on the ground that the political and legal status of Albania had to be confirmed. In the meantime, news about the discovery of oil resources in Albania attracted the attention of British diplomacy. In exchange for granting a concession for oil exploration and exploitation to a British company, the British government facilitated Albania's admission to the League of Nations. The paper “The Admission of Albania to the League of Nations” aims to elaborate on the circumstances that led to the rejection and then the admission of Albania to the League of Nations, to argue that economic and strategic factors and interests are the main determinants of international policies. Albania’s membership in the League was of critical importance for political affirmation, preservation of its independence and territorial integrity. The perspective used in this paper is based on a comparative and chronological approach. This approach combines archival sources with contemporary literature to take a literal interpretation of historical developments
SOCIOPRAGMATIC REPRESENTATION OF GRATITUDE SYMBOLS
This article examines how politeness plays a role in the theme of gratitude, and examines how this theme manifests itself in various contexts, using a literary text as an example. The researcher analyzes the theme of gratitude as a high sign of culture and a high view of morality, based on examples of its effective use in language. Gratitude is a multifaceted semantic principle; its social purpose is to strengthen trust, sincerity, friendship, and closeness between people, as well as its communicative category, which shows the nation’s culture as a symbol of politeness
A THEORETICAL REVIEW ON THE PRESENCE AND ANALYSIS OF ERRORS IN THE PROCESS OF SECOND LANGUAGE LEARNING
This paper investigates the presence and analysis of errors in the process of learning a second language. Errors occur because of the influence of learners’ first language on their production of the foreign/second language. This can be regarded as the transfer of elements of one language to another in terms of lexis, grammar, phonology, etc. This paper focuses on the main types of errors, main linguistic levels, extralinguistic phenomena, and most importantly ways of improvement. For the study to achieve its objectives a literature review was undertaken that included, among other things books, policies, journals, and research articles on the same issue under study. In this paper, we aim to layout a theoretical framework of the general considerations of linguists regarding the main linguistic errors. Many researchers have performed studies on this issue. They consider their studies important to determine what kind of errors learners make when learning a second language
TASKS OF STUDYING THE LANGUAGE OF FOLKLORE WORKS IN LINGUISTICS
This article explores the historical evolution of linguololklore studies, tracing its origins back to ancient Greece and ancient India, where scholars have analyzed language variations in literary and spoken forms. This section discusses the efforts of Greek thinkers to interpret the language of Homer's epics and the work of Indian grammarians such as Panini in distinguishing between Sanskrit and Prakrit. Furthermore, it highlights the contributions of Arab scholars in interpreting Islamic texts and the emergence of linguistics as a distinct field in the 19th century, particularly through the works of Wilhelm von Humboldt and Jacob Grimm. The article also delves into the philological study of Russian folklore, with scholars such as A. Kh. Vostokov and A. A. Potebnyamade significant contributions. It examines debates on the relationship between folklore language and dialect, along with the efforts of contemporary scholars such as A. T. Khrolenko, E. B. Artemenko, and S. E. Nikitina in advancing linguo-folkloristics. This article underscores the interdisciplinary nature of linguo-folklore studies and their role in understanding language, culture, and societal dynamics
REFLECTION ON UZBEK TRANSLATIONS OF B. GENJEMURATOV’S POEMS
This article discusses the issues of translating the poems of the modern Karakalpak poet B.Genjemuratov into Uzbek, and the issues of the poet’s style in a literary translation. Based on these, the translator creates a new text based on the possibilities of translating the text of the original text of one language into another language. The work related to the translation of the original copy of the translation into another language takes into account the peculiarities of the translation are analyzed
BASIC COGNITIVE CONSTRUCTIVIST APPROACHES IN LANGUAGE LEARNING (OBJECT PERFORMANCE FOCUS (OPF), USING PODCASTING AS A RESOURCE)
This paper aims to conduct research concerning some basic cognitive constructivist approaches in language learning, in this particular, English as a foreign language. On the focus are the English Language Department Students. The main focus of this study is Object Performance (OP), which uses Podcasting as the main resource. Furthermore, after an in-depth analytical approach to the use of podcasting in language learning, it aims to unveil some of the main students’ cognitive activities, related to the podcast content and facts, as seen from the object performance perspective, which helps them recall the previous empirical knowledge content and facts by linking them to those conveyed by the podcasting content. Such an analysis between the two types of processed content results in a strong impact on structuring ‘a new blended knowledge with the students’ in both oral and written language productivity. It has also been proven that this cognitive approach is a real spin of knowledge that strengthens their overall communication in English as a foreign language
SHAPING IDENTITY THROUGH THE CULTURE: KOSOVO BETWEEN ETHNICITY AND STATE
This research provides a reflection of Kosovo’s statehood after declaring independence on 17th February 2008, and the challenges which it faces while building a cultural and ethnic identity. This study explores how Kosovo is still in the depths of state, ethnicities and multiethnicities. Culture is regarded as a determinant of forming an identity. This work argues that the Kosovar identity is in the process of being built but is still bounded by multiethnicity and cultural nationalism. Using historical examples and current views on Kosovar identity, standing between Ethnicity and State, this research makes the connection between culture and identity
AN ASSESSMENT OF MODERN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS THEORY
The scholarship of traditional International Relations Theory (IR) seems that has little to say to students, academicians and analysts at present days. The events of the last decade in world politics and the present geopolitical situation seem to have passed the centuries old relations between nations, accompanied with a new and unprecedented approach to international formal conventions and agreements. Modern political leaders often use elements of traditional IR theory when articulating solutions to national and international security dilemmas. But these solutions then translate into modern policies capturing courses of action for accomplishing national objectives with varying strategic implications. It appears that policies of today convert into acts aiming at strengthening power and influence, via corporations and military means. This paper presents the incompatibility of traditional IR theory with the modern one, accompanied with examples and analysis of the key events that have startled academicians, students and interpreters of IR studies
Morphological and Anatomical Characteristics of the Species Paliurus spina-christi
In plants and all living beings, the fundamental influence comes from ecological factors that operate simultaneously and in a complex manner. The influence of these factors is expressed in the morphological and anatomical features of the vegetative organs of plants, especially the leaves, which are among the most delicate organs where a series of adaptations occur. Although biological science today recognizes approximately 500,000 plant species, they differ from each other morphologically, anatomically, and genetically because they live in different life conditions and circumstances. Understanding the morphological‒anatomical characteristics of plants is highly important for determining their taxonomic and ecological adaptability. This connection between the morphological-anatomical structure of vegetative organs, especially leaves, and external factors has been addressed by many authors: Lakusiç (1962), Greb (1957), Pavlov (1965), Hoxha (1995), Mustafa (1995), and others. To obtain a clearer picture of the impact of ecological factors on the morphological and anatomical characteristics of vegetative organs of plants, we conducted research on the anatomical structure of leaves from different insertions: upper (E) and middle (M) of the plant species Pailurus spina Christi
