This world event was broadcast on television and reported by newspapers, etc., and attracted and affected most people in Japan . The author argues that the television broadcast of the opening ceremonies and the Tokushima Shinbun (Newspaper) reports of the Olympics in Athens were important sources of information that encouraged international understanding. Not only the sports, but also the economic, political and cultural aspects of the participating countries were perceived through the Olympic Games. When earthquakes and calamities cause a power failure, if there is a light, people can feel easy fairly. In this paper, the new technology of an energy-saving power supply is shown, and two experimental models developed with a company are introduced. These equipments were already commercialized by another company and just attached in the stricken area recently. Automatic Guidance System on Online Examination
Get PDFIn this paper, we propose an e-learning system called SELS (Shikoku University E-Learning System) which can analyze the results of on-line tests for the purpose of advising students and providing feedback about student progress to teachers. We regard the use of an e-learning system as lesson assistance. Traditional face-to-face education and e-learning systems have both advantages and disadvantages, but by combining the strong points of the two methods, we can provide higher educational services and enhance student comprehension. The SELS system performs an automatic analysis of the results of an on-line test and provides the analysis to both the student and the teacher. Students can see their weak points, and the teacher can understand where to provide more teaching guidance. In addition, we provide evidence of the utility of the SELS system and its value in enhancing comprehension. A Study on Continuous-Traffic Class Model
Get PDFThe loss system model with multi-traffic class input has been well investigated, as shown in literature such as[1]～[3]. In the model, the number of traffic class is an integer, i.e. discrete. This study is an attempt to generalize the present model to a model with continuous-traffic class input. Laplace transformation of occupied bandwidth is derived for the model with unlimited server capacity. Abolishiment of Prefectures
Get PDFJapan's local autonomy system as introduced in 1909 has two tiers consisting of prefecture ('to,' 'do,' 'fu,' and 'ken') and municipalities('shi,' 'cho,' and 'son'). Prior to World War Two, prefectures have two functions: one being that of a local public entity, and the other being a (local) extension of the national government. Following the war, although the direct election of governors was introduced, prefectures continued to serve as part of the national government On the other hand, municipalities gained power through an on-going series of mergers, (e.g., The number of so-called 'Designated Cities' increased from 5 to 13.) Consequently, it seems that municipalities may regard prefectures as obstacles; and residents of municipalities may disdain this system as a duplication of local autonomy.
