A Study Concerning Public Enterprises In Tokushima City (Water Supply/Buses/Hospitals)
Get PDFIn 2009, Tokushima is faced with the possibility of being degraded to an organisation aiming at financial recovery and it is a telling factor that Mayor Hara already declared a state of financial crisis on February 16 2005. Together with awareness of financial problems, the state of public enterprises-which citizens have not been informed about until now-has evolved into a problem, too. Public enterprises in the various districts are managed based on the so-called 「Law For District Public Enterprises」 and it makes reasonable management necessary. Still, public enterprises in Tokushima are plagued by problems such as faulty loans. In my paper, I have conducted an analysis of projects concerning water supply and the management of bus lines and hospitals. By doing so, I tried to take a look at problematic factors public enterprises in Tokushima are faced with. After an explanation of Tokushima's financial state and a look at the number of people, I have written analysing chapters concerning water supply projects and other projects involving bus lines and hospitals.6KJ00004530437研究論文GENERAL STUDIEjournal articl
Some Considerations on the Transfiguration of the Postwar Labor Union Movement in Japan
Get PDFThis paper aims to shed light on the stuggles of Japanese labor unions, which are facing every stage of changing Japanese economic circumstances. The causes of decline of the labor movement are examined. Some explanations are found in the recent prolonged economic depression and the lack of opportunities for young people to participate in labor union activities. The future policies of labor unions under these circumstances are also discussed. Get PDFThe 1950s were the crucial period for the economic development of Mezzogiorno. In 1950 three laws of the land reform were promulgated and the agrarian reform and modernization began to be implemented. In the same year the Cassa per il Mezzogiorno (the state fund for the South) was set up. A great number of scholars, journalists, essayists and politicians participated in the discussions of the questioni meridionali (the southern questions) and made public their opinions in magazines and newspapers. This paper aims to expatiate and examine the then current articles. They are different from the statistics or the academic researches. They convey us the enthusiasm or the desperation of the discussants who witnessed the southern situation. These articles were collected meticulously in Informazioni SVIMEZ which Associazione per lo sviluppo dell' industria del Mezzogiorno continues to publish until today since its foundation in December 1946. Support for Business Inovatiton Using IT by SMEs of the region : Focusing on Tokushima area
Get PDFWhile the business conditions DI (Diffusion Index) for large enterprises in Japan have steadily improved, business trends among small and medium enterprises remain depressed. Viewed from a long-term perspective, however, the importance of SMEs as a proportion of the Japanese economy and industry as a whole is increasing, and this trend is being led by business inovation using IT. This inovation will be realized and accelerated by obtaining support for IT-based inovative systematization improvement from prefectural and public service sector suppot centers for SMEs. These supports include the implementation of seminars, training programs, the dispatch of IT experts, the reiforcement of IT infrastructure, and SOHO teleworking. We examine the current situation regarding IT in the Tokushima region and explore many important problems awaiting solution. A Look At Financial Problems Of Tokushima City : From The Standpoint Of The Reform Of Local Government Officials' Organization
Get PDFIn Tokushima, on February16^ 2005, Mayor Hara declared a "state of financial crisis." The text of this declaration mentioned a necessary strengthening of selfgovernance in the prefectural capital and the realization of positive improvement through cooperation with citizens while also emphusizing the importance of a stable financial basis. 「If financial matters continue to be handled in the same way, we will face, in the very near future, a serious degradation, which, in the case of a company, would mean nothing less than bankruptcy. This city's financial matters are truly in a state of emergency.」 With these words, Mayor Hara strongly tried to demonstrate to the people of Tokushima the absolute necessity of financial reform. In my manuscript, the analysis of the actual state of the financial problems and the definition of the problems which have led to their coming into existence are my objectives. There are discussions in Tokushima concerning reform and my analysis is necessarily conducted while the future course of reform is not yet decided. Documents such as recent financial data are employed. Get PDFWith the evolution of civil society, corporate social responsibility (CSR) has recieved greater attention and has become an important criterion for selecting products and services, as well as evaluating corporations. In order to improve management quality-and not only to give consumer satisfaction, but to inspire customers-one indispensable basic factor is to integrate into the process of business activities a high sense of ethics and fairness, as well as concern for human rights, the environment and society. In today's global society, all people believe it is increasingly important for corporations to take responsibility for their own actions and properly communicate their endeavors to a multitude of stakeholders. The rise of SRI is closely linked with the growth of key social and environmental movements over recent decades no comma which have shaped changes in society's values and concerns. Socially responsible investing is an investment process that considers the social and environmental consequences of investment, both positive and negative, within a rigorous financial analysis. It is a process of identifying and investing in companies that meet certain standards of CSR and is increasingly practiced internaionally. More and more fund managers have become interested in SRI. This is partly because of client demand, but also due to the shift in approarch from negative screening to a combination of both engagement and screening. The author discusses how Japanese corporations should contribute to the sound development of society by supplying quality products and services.
