Marketing Strategy For The Indonesian Launch of Japan’s Small Electric Vehicle: An Exploratory Study
Background: The electric vehicle (EV) market in Indonesia has garnered significant attention, particularly in the city car segment that is dominated by Chinese brands. Government support and growing demand for eco-friendly alternatives have paved the way for the introduction of electric vehicles in Indonesia.Purpose: This study aims to formulate a relevant marketing strategy for PT XYZ\u27s upcoming launch of a Japanese city car electric vehicle in Indonesia scheduled for 2025-2026.Design/methodology/approach: This study employs a qualitative, exploratory approach, utilizing in-depth interviews with PT XYZ’s management and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with city car electric vehicle users. Data analysis was conducted using coding and categorization methods.Findings/results: The findings reveal a strong market potential for city car electric vehicles, especially in urban areas. Key drivers include government incentives and the desire to lower operational costs. The proposed marketing strategy integrates the STP model (Segmentation, Targeting, and Positioning) and the 4P framework (Product, Price, Place, Promotion), focusing on modern urban consumers, with product differentiation through design, premium features, and competitive pricing.Conclusion: PT XYZ\u27s brand image as a trusted Japanese manufacturer plays a critical role in differentiating its product from its competitors, particularly Chinese brands. This strategy fosters consumer trust, and positions PT XYZ as a viable player in the Indonesian electric vehicle market.Originality/value (State of the art): This study contributes to the literature on electric vehicle marketing strategies, providing valuable insights for PT XYZ in navigating the competitive landscape and enhancing its market entry strategy for city car electric vehicles in Indonesia.

Business Performance Analysis of Universitas Trunojoyo Madura Salt Pond Production
Background: The Universitas Trunojoyo Madura is a state university in Madura that contributes to the development of Madura\u27s potential, one of which is the salt field. To support the program, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura prepared a salt laboratory as a test site for salt production with an area of 4 ha in Padelegan Village, Pamekasan Regency. Owing to capital constraints, the Universitas Trunojoyo Madura salt pond land still does not produce salt. From the result of this research, it is hoped that there will be recommendations related to the development of Universitas Trunojoyo Madura salt ponds for optimization of Universitas Trunojoyo Madura salt pond production operations.Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the amount of salt business production costs, the amount of capital needed, and the income obtained from salt production business activities. In addition, the purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of the Universitas Trunojoyo Madura salt pond business so that it can be known whether the salt business in Universitas Trunojoyo Madura salt ponds is feasible or not. Design/methodology/approach: The method used in This study employed a quantitative descriptive method. This research was conducted from August to December 2023, and the object of this study was the Universitas Trunojoyo Madura salt pond located in Padelegan Village, Pamekasan Regency. Findings/Result: Based on this research, an R/C ratio value of 2,25, indicates that for every IDR100, cost incurred for salt ponds, a receipt of IDR225 will be obtained,. In addition, based on the results of the break-even point analysis, salt production in the Universitas Trunojoyo Madura ponds will break even when producing as much as 177 tons or IDR299,731,818, which is still below the total crop yield in one year of 480 tons or equivalent to IDR816,000,000.Conclusion: This study shows that salt production in the Universitas Trunojoyo Madura salt pond land can be carried out based on the results of business performance analysis, such as profit analysis, R/C analysis, and break-even point.Originality/value (State of the art): This study examined the business performance analysis of Universitas Trunojoyo Madura salt pond by comparing costs and prices that will be obtained from the salt production process on the land

Korelasi Emotional Eating, Penggunaan Media Sosial, dan Konsumsi Junk Food dengan Kegemukan pada Mahasiswa: Correlation of Emotional Eating, Social Media Use, and Junk Food Consumption with Overweight and Obesity in College Students
Overweight and obesity have emerged as global health issues, including in young adults such as university students. These conditions are caused by the excessive build-up of adipose tissue, leading to body weight above the normal range. A BMI over 25 kg/m² indicates this state. Factors influencing overweight and obesity among university students include emotional eating habits, time spent on social media, and junk food intake frequency. This study aims to examine risk factors associated with overweight and obesity among students at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). A cross-sectional method with proportional sampling across nine faculties was applied. The sample consisted of 46 UPI undergraduate students, selected using the Lemeshow formula with a 10% error margin. Chi-Square was used for bivariate analysis. The findings revealed a significant relationship between emotional eating (p=0.037) and overweight and obesity. Meanwhile, no significant association was observed for social media duration (p=0.861) or junk food consumption frequency (p=0.732) with overweight and obesity.Kegemukan (overweight dan obesitas) merupakan permasalahan kesehatan global yang juga terjadi pada kelompok dewasa muda seperti mahasiswa. Kondisi ini disebabkan oleh penumpukan jaringan lemak (adiposa) yang berlebihan, sehingga berat badan melebihi batas normal. Keadaan ini ditandai dengan indeks massa tubuh (IMT) lebih dari 25 kg/m². Beberapa faktor yang dapat berperan dalam terjadinya kegemukan pada mahasiswa adalah kebiasaan emotional eating, lamanya penggunaan media sosial, serta kebiasaan makan junk food. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor risiko yang berkaitan dengan kejadian kegemukan pada mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). Penelitian menggunakan desain Cross-Sectional dengan teknik pengambilan sampel proporsional dari 9 fakultas. Jumlah subjek sebanyak 46 mahasiswa S1 UPI yang diperoleh berdasarkan rumus Lemeshow dengan tingkat kesalahan 10%. Uji statistik dalam analisis bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara emotional eating (p=0,037) dengan kegemukan. Namun, tidak ditemukan hubungan signifikan antara durasi penggunaan media sosial (p=0,861) maupun frekuensi konsumsi junk food (p=0,732) dengan kegemukan
Kebijakan Inovatif untuk Akuakultur Berkelanjutan: Optimalisasi Peran Bivalvia dalam Pengolahan Limbah
Pertumbuhan industri tambak udang intensif di Indonesia telah memberikan kontribusi ekonomi yang signifikan. Namun tambak udang juga menimbulkan permasalahan lingkungan akibat buangan kaya nutrien seperti amonium, nitrat, ortofosfat, partikel organik dan tersuspensi. Kandungan nutrien yang tinggi dalam buangan tambak dapat memicu ledakan populasi mikroalga, menurunkan kualitas lingkungan dan terganggunya keseimbangan ekosistem perairan. Pemerintah telah mengeluarkan kebijakan yang mewajibkan setiap tambak udang memiliki unit pengolahan limbah sebagai bentuk pengendalian dampak lingkungan. Namun, implementasi kebijakan ini menghadapi tantangan besar terkait dengan besarnya biaya investasi dan operasional instalasi pengolahan limbah tersebut. Upaya untuk memberikan solusi alternatif yang lebih efisien dan ramah lingkungan harus dilakukan, diantaranya dengan menggunakan bivalvia. Pemanfaatan bivalvia— seperti kerang darah—dapat menjadi pendekatan biotreatment yang efektif. Bivalvia berperan sebagai filter feeder yang mampu mengasimilasi mikroalga dan partikel nutrien di dalam air. Filtrasi menggunakan kerang darah terbukti mampu menurunkan konsentrasi mikroalga dan nutrien, masing-masing sebesar 72,80% untuk mikroalga, 36,78% untuk amonia, 50,00% untuk nitrit, 78,77% untuk nitrat, dan 89,13% untuk ortofosfat.. Rekomendasi alternatif kebijakan diarahkan pada integrasi penggunaan bivalvia dalam sistem pengolahan limbah tambak, dan penyusunan pedoman teknis biotreatment yang lebih efisien sebagai bagian dari strategi pengelolaan limbah berkelanjutan. Strategi ini tidak hanya memperkuat upaya perlindungan lingkungan, tetapi juga membuka peluang ekonomi tambahan melalui produksi bivalvia sebagai komoditas konsumsi
Genetic Diversity of Mudskipper Species (Periophthalmus spp.) from the Southern Coast of Java, Indonesia, Based on the Mitochondrial 16S Gene
The genus Periophthalmus (Bloch and Schneider, 1801) comprises a diverse group of mudskippers within the family Oxudercidae and subfamily Oxudercinae. It includes 20 verified species globally, with 11 of these species originating from Indonesia. Among them, P. kalolo and P. argentilineatus are prevalent across seven major islands. However, P. novemradiatus is less documented, with limited distribution records. The morphological similarities among Periophthalmus spp. complicate recognition, often leading to misidentification. To address this challenge, this study investigated the phylogenetic relationships and genetic diversity among these three species, utilizing the 16S rRNA gene as a marker. PCR amplification of the DNA from samples collected from seven regions along Java\u27s southern coast employed primers 16Sar and 16Sbr. Phylogenetic analysis revealed three monophyletic clades corresponding to each species, with genetic divergences ranging from 3.66 to 5.40%. P. argentilineatus displayed a relatively high intraspecific divergence of 0.21-2.26%, suggesting the potential identification of cryptic species within this lineage, even with a conserved gene like 16S rRNA. We identified 47 variable sites within the 552-bp 16S rRNA sequence, including four singleton sites and 43 parsimony-informative sites. We discovered a unique marker at position 172 that could serve as a genetic identifier for distinguishing these species. These findings suggest that the 16S rRNA gene has potential as an alternative marker for species identification while also revealing genetic diversity, thereby complementing or even serving as an alternative to the commonly used COI gene in Periophthalmus spp
The Potential Use of Wood Vinegar as an Alternative Inhibitor to Enhance 5-Aminolevulinic Acid Production by Bacillus paramycoides
The expensive production of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) as a plant growth stimulator led to an attempt to get an alternative substrate to reduce the production cost. Levulinic acid is the inhibitor of ALA dehydratase in ALA production. Wood vinegar, a liquid gas produced from wood combustion in airtight conditions, is known to contain 12-17 mM of levulinic acid. This study aims to explore the use of wood vinegar as a potential substitute for levulinic acid in the extracellular production of ALA by bacteria identified as Bacillus paramycoides through 16S rRNA sequence analysis. Adding precursor and inhibitor glutamate and 1% wood vinegar increased the ALA production to 174.3 µM, while the combination of glutamate and levulinic acid raised the ALA production to 179.9 µM. This study confirmed that wood vinegar can enhance the concentration of ALA and potentially substitute levulinic acid as an inhibitor in ALA production
Marine Actinobacteria amo.128 Isolated from Seribu Island: Antibacterial, Antibiofilm and Molecular Docking as Quorum Sensing Inhibitors
The prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria is increasing every year in Indonesia. This resistance occurs in several antimicrobial categories. A contributing factor to microbial resistance is the capacity of microbes to develop biofilms. Amo.128 is an actinomycete from the Laboratory Biotechnology, BRIN Serpong collection, which is expected to have both antimicrobial and antibiofilm activity. This study aimed to identify amo.128 macroscopically, microscopically, and molecularly; to determine the antibacterial and antibiofilm activity; to identify secondary metabolites; and to understand the mechanism of quorum sensing inhibition by in silico with proteins targeting SdiA and AgrA. Based on macroscopic and microscopic observations, the amo.128 isolate belongs to the genus Streptomyces. Phylogenetic analysis of the amo.128 isolate is 100% similar to Streptomyces parvus strain NBRC 14599. The amo.128 metabolite contains several compounds, including N-acetyltyramine, cyclophenylalanylprolyl/cFP, and the pyrrole-pyrazine group. The MIC/MBC/MIC50 value of the amo.128 metabolite against Staphylococcus aureus is 25/50/28.48 ppm, while for Escherichia coli it is 100/200/49.38 ppm. The amo.128 metabolite reduced biofilms formed by S. aureus and E. coli with BRC50 values of 62.07 ppm and 60.44 ppm, respectively. Aktivitas antioksidan fikosianin Arthrospira platensis yang diekstrak menggunakan dimetil sulfoksida: Antioxidant activity of Arthrospira platensis phycocyanin extracted using dimethyl sulfoxide
Fikosianin merupakan pigmen utama dalam Arthrospira platensis yang memiliki sifat antioksidan sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan dalam bidang pangan maupun kosmetik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan pengaruh kondisi biomassa terhadap karakteristik (rendemen, konsentrasi fikosianin, indeks kemurnian) dan aktivitas antioksidan fikosianin A. platensis yang diekstrak menggunakan dimetil sulfoksida (DMSO). Biomassa basah dan kering A. platensis diekstraksi menggunakan DMSO 50% dengan perbandingan 1:10 untuk mendapatkan ekstrak fikosianin kemudian dilakukan pemurnian menggunakan amonium sulfat. Ekstrak fikosianin dan fikosianin hasil yang telah dimurnikan dianalisis rendemen, konsentrasi, indeks kemurnian, gugus fungsi dan aktivitas antioksidan (metode 1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH) dan ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP)). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi biomassa A. platensis (basah maupun kering) yang diekstrak menggunakan DMSO berpengaruh terhadap karakteristik fikosianin dan aktivitas antioksidan. Fikosianin dari biomassa basah memiliki karakteristik (rendemen 145,14±5,59 mg/g, konsentrasi fikosianin 0,40±0,02 mg/mL, indeks kemurnian 0,19±0,06) dan aktivitas antioksidan (IC50 DPPH 30.628,89±886,81 ppm, FRAP 1.695,57±5,18 μM/g) lebih tinggi dibandingkan dari biomassa kering (rendemen 39,50±20,30 mg/g, konsentrasi fikosianin 0,08±0,04 mg/mL, indeks kemurnian 0,03±0,02) dan aktivitas antioksidan (IC50 DPPH 162.820,59±1.446,30 ppm, FRAP 1.691,01±50,29 μM/g). Hasil fourier transform infrared (FTIR) menunjukkan adanya serapan khas gugus fungsi yang terdapat pada fikosianin. Aktivitas antioksidan fikosianin dari biomassa basah dengan metode DPPH (antioksidan primer) tergolong antioksidan lemah dan metode FRAP (antioksidan sekunder) tergolong kuat.Arthrospira platensis uses phycocyanin, its main pigment, for its antioxidant properties in the food and cosmetic fields. This study aims to determine the effect of biomass conditions on the characteristics (yield, phycocyanin concentration, purity index) and antioxidant activity of A. platensis phycocyanin extracted using dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Wet and dry biomass of A. platensis were extracted using 50% DMSO with a ratio of 1:10 to obtain phycocyanin extract and then purified using ammonium sulfate. Phycocyanin extract and purified phycocyanin were analyzed for yield, concentration, purity index, functional groups, and antioxidant activity (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) methods). The results indicated that the conditions of A. platensis biomass (wet and dry) extracted using DMSO affected the characteristics of phycocyanin and antioxidant activity. Phycocyanin from wet biomass has characteristics (yield 145.14±5.59 mg/g, concentration 0.40±0.02 mg/mL, purity index 0.19±0.06) and antioxidant activity (IC50 DPPH 30,628.89±886.81 ppm, FRAP 1,695.57±5.18 μM/g) higher than that from dry biomass (yield 39.50±20.3 mg/g, phycocyanin concentration 0.08±0.04 mg/mL, purity index 0.03±0.02) and antioxidant activity (IC50 DPPH 162,820.59±1,446.30 ppm, FRAP 1,691.01±50.29 μM/g). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) results show the typical absorption of functional groups found in phycocyanin. The antioxidant activity of phycocyanin from wet biomass using the DPPH method (primary antioxidant) is classified as a weak antioxidant, while based on the FRAP method (secondary antioxidant), the antioxidant is classified as a strong antioxidant
Bioaksesibilitas Senyawa Fenolik Minuman Kakao Pasteurisasi dengan Penambahan Matriks Susu
Cocoa beans and their derivatives are well-known for their health benefits, primarily attributed to phenolic compounds. While some research has explored the interactions of these compounds within food matrices, there were few reports on the release of cocoa phenolics in the gastrointestinal tract when consumed as part of complex foods. This study aimed to evaluate how incorporation of whole-fat milk powder (CF), skimmed milk powder (CS), and whey protein powder (CW) into pasteurized cocoa beverages impacts the in vitro release of phenolic compounds throughout gastrointestinal digestion. The initial analysis included quantifying total phenolics and flavonoids in the undigested samples. Subsequently, simulated gastrointestinal digestion was performed, followed by analysis of total phenolics and flavonoids at each digestion stage. The extent of compound release was expressed as the recovery index (RI) and bioaccessibility index (BI). The results showed that the addition of milk matrices (CF, CS, CW) significantly decreased the total phenolic content of cocoa beverages (p<0.05) across all digestion phases. CW had the highest RI for total phenolics (202.67±7.67%). This study suggests that although the addition of milk decreased the initial phenolic content in undigested cocoa beverages, an increase in RI of phenolics was observed after the gastric digestion phase, especially in the beverages containing whey protein
