The use of masks is recommended to reduce the risk of widespread spread of the Covid-19 virus, but because of its use in high quantities in a short time, it has an impact on the high waste of disposable masks. The problem of high waste of masks that is not accompanied by good management is it has the potential to pollute the environment and disposable masks are included in the type of hazardous medical waste so that they require special waste management. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the sociodemographic characteristics of the people of DKI Jakarta and the Willingness to Pay (WTP) for disposable mask waste management to determine the WTP price for disposable mask waste management. The survey was conducted in DKI Jakarta Province by distributing questionnaires and obtained a total sample of 356 respondents. Furthermore, the analysis method used, the first is logistic regression analysis to determine the variables of sociodemographic characteristics that affect individual WTP. The next analysis method is to calculate WTP using the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) and the question model with the Double Bounded dichotomous method. Based on the results, it is known that the dependent variables that can increase the WTP value are income (Δ+ 23.6%, p ≤ 0.05), type of healing treatment (Δ+ 100%, p ≤ 0.1), and knowledge (Δ+ 125.9%, p ≤ 0.01), where a value of Rp 28,578 is ideal for the cost of managing disposable mask waste.

Feed is a crucial factor in enhancing quail (Coturnix-coturnix Japonica) productivity. A Frequently used protein source in quail feed is Meat Bone Meal (MBM). However, MBM is an imported product, making it relatively expensive. An alternative to MBM is utilizing locally sourced feed ingredients, such as black soldier fly maggot. This study aims to evaluate the characteristics of quail carcasses and non-carcass components from quails fed a diet containing black soldier fly maggot meal. The observed variables include slaughter weight, carcass weight, and its percentage, non-carcass weight and its percentage, commercial cut weight, and carcass percentage, as well as the weight and proportion of both edible and non-edible carcass components. The quail hens used in this study were aged 44-50 weeks and in their laying period. The research process included producing and managing black soldier fly maggot meal, preparing feed, setting up and maintaining cages, slaughtering, as well as cutting and deboning the carcasses. The treatment applied was R0 (feed with the primary protein source being MBM) and R1 (feed with the primary protein source of black soldier fly maggot). The collected data were analyzed using a two-sample t-test. The result showed that quail fed with black soldier fly meal as the primary protein source had no significant impact on slaughter weight, carcass and non-carcass percentage, commercial cut percentage, or the proportion of edible and non-edible parts. The conclusion of this study is that maggot can be used as an alternative protein source in feed as a substitute for MBM because quails fed with black soldier fly maggot flour as th eprimary protein source produced carcass and non carcass characteristics similar to those of quails fed with MBM as the main protein source

The management of microbial infections in poultry farming continues to be largely antibiotic-dependent. Despite this, the application of Antibiotic Growth Promoters (AGPs) in poultry feed has been banned, necessitating the use of herbal feed additives such as Brotowali (Tinospora crispa). This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Brotowali stem meal on the performance and immune organs of hybrid ducks. A total of 200 hybrid ducks Gunsi 888 were used in this study, reared from 11 to 46 days of age. The ducks were fed either a basal diet as a control (P1) or a basal diet supplemented with 0.5% Brotowali stem meal (P2), 1% (P3), and 1.5% (P4). The observed immune organs included the thymus, bursa of Fabricius, and spleen. The study was conducted in Bogor, West Java, while the an analysis of Brotowali’s phytochemical properties was conducted at the Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center of IPB University. All collected data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and significant differences were further analyzed using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with SPSS version 25. The results showed that Brotowali stem meal had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the immunity of hybrid ducks. However, Brotowali stem meal significantly (P<0.05) improved the performance of hybrid ducks, as evidenced by increased body weight and decreased feed conversion ratios. In conclusion, Brotowali can enhance the performance of hybrid ducks, and it does not affect the stress levels of the livestock

The information related anatomical characteristics (cell dimension and proportion) of Acacia aulacocarpa is still limited also for its axial and radial variations. This research aimed to analyze variation of the anatomical characteristics in axial and radial direction. Three trees of 27-year-old A. aulacocarpa planted in Gunung Kidul Yogyakarta were used. This research covered a completely randomized design with two factors, the axial direction (base, middle, and top of the trunk) and the radial direction (near pith, between pith and bark, and near bark) in triplicate. A two-way analysis of variants was used. The measured parameters were fiber dimensions (length, diameter, lumen diameter, and wall thickness) and cell proportions (fiber, vessel, ray parenchyma, and axial parenchyma). The results showed that average value of fiber dimensions was as follow: fiber length 0.94 mm; fiber diameter 17.43 µm; lumen diameter 11.75 µm; and fiber wall thickness 2.84 µm. The average value of cell proportions was 52.48% of fibers cell proportion; 17.5% of wood vessel proportion; 15.69% of axial parenchyma proportion; and 16.68% of ray’s parenchyma proportion. The axial position factor does not affect the proportion and dimensions of the fiber. However, the radial position factor affects the proportion of fiber cells, the proportion of wood vessels, the proportion of axial parenchyma, fiber length, lumen diameter, and fiber wall thickness. Fiber length, fiber lumen diameter, cell wall thickness increased from near the pith to the middle and then remained relatively constant toward the bark. Based on these results, it is suspected that the middle and near the bark are mature wood. Keywords: Acacia aulacocarpa, cell dimension, cell proportion, radial direction, axial directio

Cadmium (Cd) increases oxidative stress, which increases the likelihood of health problems. To protect the body from oxidative stress, natural antioxidants obtained from plants are required. The kabau plant (Archidendron bubalinum) is thought to have antioxidant phytochemicals. The purpose of this study was to assess the antioxidant activity and total phenolic component content of kabau pod peels, as well as their effect on the quantity of erythrocytes and leukocytes in male mice exposed to cadmium. This study used a completely randomized design, with 24 mice divided into six groups: three control groups and three treatment groups. The findings of assessing the antioxidant activity of peel extract revealed that the IC50 was 93.6 ppm, which is considered strong. The phenolic content of peel extract was 72.26 mg GAE/g. Giving pod peel extract to mice increased the number of erythrocytes and leukocytes, however the impact was not significant (p = 0.028 and P = 0.239). Mice with 380 mg/kg BW produced better outcomes.
