From awareness to action: Strategies for improving halal standards in Korean Noodles and Cosmetic Industry
The global halal market is experiencing rapid growth, projected to reach US$ 4,569.69 billion by 2030. However, maintaining the standards is a major problem, particularly for Korean instant noodles and cosmetic products. Therefore, this research aimed to examine the critical need for improved quality management and compliance in halal food and cosmetic supply chains Issues such as lack of consumer awareness regarding halal labelling and contamination of products with non-halal or hazardous substances are discussed. Several solutions were proposed to address the challenges, including comprehensive halal standard education, internal training programs, and international cooperation for standardization. The results showed that there are several importance of regular and inclusive employee training, recognition strategies, and implementation of halal traceability systems. Additionally, the significance of government agencies and businesses from different countries was emphasized. This cooperation created consistent halal rules expected to be followed on a global basis. By integrating the strategies, manufacturers prevented contamination, ensured adherence to halal standards, and rebuilt consumer trust. Moreover, multi-faceted methods including education, technological advancements, and enhanced regulatory oversight were crucial for maintaining the integrity of halal industry and meeting growing global demand
NILAI EKONOMI BUAH PADA HUTAN DI AREAL PENGGUNAAN LAIN DESA SUNGAI BULUH, KABUPATEN SINTANG, PROVINSI KALIMANTAN BARAT: Economic Value of Fruit in Forests on Other Land Use Areas in Sungai Buluh Village, Sintang District, West Kalimantan Province
Sungai Buluh Village has 26% forest cover in its Other Land Use Area (APL) which is threatened by land conversion. This threat requires efforts to protect the remaining forest cover by utilizing alternative forest resources in the area. One alternative utilization that can be developed is fruit as a Non-Timber Forest Product (NTFP). For this reason, it is necessary to conduct an analysis of the physical potential and economic value of fruit through field observations, forest inventory, interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and calculation of economic value. The results show that there are 15 species of fruit, but only 4 species have commercial value, namely durian (Durio sp.), jengkol (Pithecellobium jiringa), keranji (Dialium indum), and longan (Dimocarpus longan L.). Keranji has the highest production potential with 280,746 kg/year, followed by durian with 256,220 fruits/year, jengkol with 58,610 kg/year, and longan with 2,812 kg/year. Durian and jengkol have high resource rent values of Rp 3.751.280/ha/year and Rp 3.351.280/ha/year, respectively. The highest utilization rates are for durian (29%) and jengkol (46%). KERUSAKAN DAN PEMULIHAN POHON PINUS (PINUS MERKUSII) AKIBAT PENYADAPAN PADA BERBAGAI KETINGGIAN TEMPAT DI KPH KEDIRI: Damage and Recovery of Pine (Pine Merkusii) Trees Due to Tapping at Various Altitudes in KPH Kediri
The level of damage to pine trees due to tapping is based on the parameters of the number of taps, width of taps, height of taps and depth of taps. The altitude at which pine trees grow can affect the recovery of pine tapping fields because weather conditions, air temperature and sunlight intensity at each altitude are different. This study aims to determine the condition of pine trees due to tapping, measure the percentage of pine tree tapping field recovery and analyze the effect of altitude on tapping field recovery. The results showed that the average tapping damage at each altitude did not meet the pine resin tapping procedures that had been implemented by Perhutani except for the average tapping height. The height of the place affects the recovery of the tapping field. The highest average percentage of tapping field recovery was found at an altitude of <400 meters above sea level (masl) with a value of 50.40%/tapping and the lowest average percentage of tapping field recovery was found at an altitude of >1,000 masl with a value of 36.05%/tapping.The level of damage to pine trees due to tapping is based on the parameters of the number of taps, width of taps, height of taps and depth of taps. ANALISIS PENGHIDUPAN ORANG RIMBA DI KECAMATAN AIR HITAM PASCA PERUBAHAN ZONASI TAMAN NASIONAL BUKIT DUABELAS: Analysis of Orang Rimba Livelihoods in Air Hitam District Post-Zoning Reclassification of Bukit Duabelas National Park
Taman Nasional Bukit Duabelas memiliki fungsi khusus untuk melindungi ruang penghidupan Orang Rimba. Upaya memenuhi fungsi ini salah satunya dilakukan dengan memadukan zonasi taman nasional menurut aturan negara dengan pembagian ruang adat menurut Orang Rimba pada 2019. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah zonasi TNBD sudah benar-benar mengakomodasi penghidupan yang berkelanjutan bagi Orang Rimba dengan mengeksplorasi aset penghidupan dan strategi penghidupan Orang Rimba di Air Hitam berdasarkan kerangka Sustainable Rural Livelihood dengan metode kuantitaif dan kualitatif. Penelitian menunjukan perbedaan kepemilikan aset diantara kelompok Orang Rimba dengan pola hidup tradisional, transisi, dan menetap. Kelompok menetap memiliki tingkat kepemilikan aset tertinggi, kecuali social capital. Strategi penghidupan kelompok menetap telah berubah menjadi perkebunan (terutama sawit dan karet) sedangkan berburu-meramu hanya umum ditemukan pada kelompok tradisional dan transisi. Diversifikasi nonpertanian hanya dilakukan oleh kelompok transisi dan kelompok menetap. Perubahan penghidupan didorong oleh kebutuhan atas pendapatan stabil, menurunnya sumber daya hutan, dan meningkatnya persaingan. Orang Rimba memiliki hak akses, hak pemanfaatan, dan hak manajemen atas Taman Nasional Bukit Duabelas. Mekanisme akses Orang Rimba atas kawasan Taman Nasional Bukit Duabelas digolongkan sebagai akses legal yang diperoleh karena identitas sosial, tetapi mekanisme akses individual lebih dipengaruhi oleh akses berdasarkan modal. Peningkatan adaptabilitas Orang Rimba dapat dilakukan dengan menerapkan tumpang sari atau penyiangan yang dioptimalisasi untuk masyarakat yang berburu-meramu dan diversifikasi jenis tanaman atau integrasi kebun-ternak untuk kelompok yang berkebun sawit. Peningkatan akses terhadap pendidikan dan pelatihan juga perlu dilakukan guna meningkatkan human capital yang krusial dalam membuka kesempatan diversifikasi nonpertanian.In 2019, Bukit Duabelas National Park integrates its zoning system with the Orang Rimba traditional land utilization in attempt to fulfill its mandate to protect Orang Rimba’s livelihood. This research aims to determine wheter the zoning system of Bukit Duabelas National Park has truly accomodated sustainable livelihoods for Orang Rimba by exploring the livelihood resources and livelihood strategies of the Orang Rimba in Air Hitam using mixed methods and the Sustainabe Rural Livelihood framework. The research reveal different capital possession accross nomadic, semi-sedentary, and sedentary groups. Sedentary group possess highest capital across all types, except social. Livelihood strategies have shifted to cultivation (especially oil palm and rubber) with hunting-gathering primarily done by nomadic and semi-sedentary group. Non-agricultural diversification practiced only by semi-sedentary and sedentary group. This change is driven by the need for stable income, declining forest resources, and increased competition. Orang Rimba hold access, withdrawal, and management rights to Bukit Duabelas National Park. Orang Rimba\u27s access mechanism is legal access via social identity, while individual benefits depend more on capital access. To enhance the adaptability of the Orang Rimba, implementing intercropping or optimized weeding is recommended for hunting-gathering communities, while crop diversification or integrated crop-livestock farming is suggested for groups engaged in oil palm cultivation. Furthermore, improving access to education and training is crucial to boost human capital, which is vital for opening up non-agricultural diversification opportunities
Identification of Campylobacter jejuni from Chicken Carcasses and Characterization of Their Antibiotic Resistance Using Molecular Approach
Campylobacter species, particularly Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli, are foodborne pathogenic bacteria that cause campylobacteriosis, an acute gastroenteritis in humans. The most important transmission source to humans is contaminated animal products, such as chicken carcasses. Recently, there has been a growing concern about emerging antibiotic-resistant pathogens, including Campylobacter. Improper use of antibiotics in livestock can increase the risk of antibiotic resistance and the transmission of resistant bacterial strains to humans. This study aims to identify the species of Campylobacter spp. isolated from chicken carcasses and detected their antibiotic resistance genes using MinION sequencing in C. jejuni isolates. The disc diffusion method was also used to evaluate their resistance to macrolide, tetracycline, and fluoroquinolone antibiotics. The study results show that C. jejuni was identified in 64% of the 25 isolates, while C. coli was identified in 36% of the isolates. Molecular testing on C. jejuni isolates revealed that macrolide resistance genes were absent, specifically the 23S rRNA and the ermB genes. The tetO gene encoding for tetracycline resistance was detected in 62.5% of the isolates, and all 16 isolates (100%) were found to have the gyrA gene. In C. jejuni isolates, the cmeABC gene, which functions as a multidrug efflux pump, was also detected. The antibiotic resistance of C. jejuni isolates based on the disc diffusion method indicated high resistance to fluoroquinolone antibiotics, followed by tetracycline antibiotics
The Interrelationship of Morphological, Reproductive, and Growth Traits in Assaf Sheep in Palestine
This study was conducted to explore the associations between morphometric, reproductive, and growth traits of Palestinian Assaf sheep raised in the northern West Bank, Palestine. Data were collected from January to May 2025, with a total of 520 ewes sampled from 26 flocks. Studied traits (not limited to) were pelvic width (PW), chest depth (CD), body condition score (BCS), number of lambs born per birth (NLB), prolificacy (PRO), weight at first lambing (WAL), lamb birth weight (LBW), and weaning weight (WWT). Results from statistical analysis revealed strong correlations (r= 0.79; p<0.01) between NLB and PRO. PW had a positive correlation (r>0.3) with reproductive performance traits. Additionally, WWT was linked to both BCS and ADM (r= 0.45; p<0.01). It was concluded that introducing morphometric traits, mainly those indicated as body capacity and pelvic structure in breeding programs for Assaf sheep, can improve not only the performance of reproduction and milk production, but also on-farm production levels, adaptability, and multi-trait merit

While the XBeach model has been validated for complex coastal processes under storm conditions, its performance in predicting hydrodynamics and morphodynamic changes under controlled, small-scale regular wave scenarios—a critical gap for foundational calibration and understanding—remains less documented. This study addresses this gap by rigorously validating XBeach\u27s capability to simulate regular wave propagation and the consequent coastal erosion in a controlled laboratory environment. The experiment was conducted in a 30 m flume at Kyoto University\u27s UJIGAWA laboratory, using a piston-type wavemaker to generate nine regular wave cases (wave heights: 1.68–3.3 cm; periods: 0.83 s and 1.205 s). Model accuracy was quantitatively assessed using the Mean Absolute Error (MAE). The results demonstrate that XBeach proficiently simulates both hydrodynamic and morphodynamic processes. The validation for significant wave height yielded an MAE of 0.07, while the validation for the eroded area yielded an MAE of 0.05 (5%). Both MAE values are below the 10% sufficiency threshold, confirming the model\u27s reliability in predicting wave transformation and erosion magnitude under regular wave forcing. Economic Impact Analysis of Reclamation Activities on Rampus (Gillnet) Fishery in Kaliadem, Muara Angke, North Jakarta
The Jakarta Bay reclamation has impacted capture fisheries, such as rampus (gillnet) fishermen in Kaliadem. This study aims to analyze the economic impacts of reclamation including its adaptation strategies, fishing business unit feasibility, fishermen’s welfare, and post-reclamation policy options. Data were collected through surveys and a census and analyzed using analyses of spatial characteristics, feasibility, Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN), qualitative description, and policy alternatives. The results indicate that the primary fishing grounds of rampus fishermen are directly affected by reclamation. The fishing units remain viable both before and after reclamation. Fishermen experienced a 41.86% decrease in income per trip, a 59.19% reduction in crew wages per trip, and a 38.16% increase in fuel consumption per trip. The Net Present Value (NPV) decreased from IDR 456,251,850 before reclamation to IDR 141,900,795 after reclamation. The Net B/C ratio dropped from 4.43 to 2.58, the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) declined to 30.22%, and the payback period extended by 1.13 years. NTN analysis showed a decline of 0.22 or 22.44% compared to pre-reclamation conditions. Adaptation strategies involve relocating fishing grounds and continuing fishing activities. Proposed alternative policies include increasing vessel size, providing fuel quota subsidies, and fisher relocation
Determinants of Work–Life Balance Among Muslim Women Educators in the Jabodetabek Area
Muslim women workers in the education sector play a strategic role as educators of the nation\u27s next generation and household managers, making the balance between professional and domestic responsibilities a crucial issue in human resource management. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the work-life balance (WLB) of Muslim women workers in the Greater Jakarta area by examining five key variables: religiosity, support from Islamic organizations, family support, work-family role conflict, and job demands. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey design and purposive sampling technique with 150 married Muslim women respondents working in formal educational institutions. Data collection was conducted using a five-point Likert-scale closed-ended questionnaire, and data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that religiosity and family support had a positive and significant effect on WLB, while work-family role conflict had a significant negative effect. Conversely, organizational support and job demands did not significantly influence WLB. These results indicate that Muslim women\u27s work-life balance is more determined by the strength of religiosity and family support than by organizational factors or workload. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening religious values and family social support in policies for managing the female workforce in the education sector
