    Get PDF
The largest source of emissions (63%) in Indonesia comes from land use activities as well as forest and land fires. Deforestation is affected by several factors, such as population growth, forest fires, expansion of agricultural land, farming, drought, timber harvesting, and the lack of government attention. As part of its efforts to suppress deforestation, the Indonesian Government has allocated several types of funding for the forestry industry. However, there are disagreements over the most effective funding and implementation difficulties. This research aims to analyze the impact of forestry fiscal transfer on deforestation using spatial autoregressive in Indonesia. The results show that the forestry significantly affects deforestation in Indonesia is Forest Revenue-Sharing Fund with a positive coefficient value (0.65). Other factors that significantly affect deforestation in Indonesia are the Regional Budget for Environment (0.77), population size (–2.21), Gross Regional Domestic Product in the mining sector (0.83), area (0.99), and income per capita (–2.39). The research findings conclude that forestry fiscal transfers contribute to deforestation, instead of mitigatingdeforestation. The Central Government should refine ecological fiscal transfer (EFT) schemes by adopting innovative, performance-based models and collaborating with Regional Governments to implement detail-earmarked budgeting, ensuring alignment with conservation goals.&nbsp

The Cileungsi River is the upstream part of the Bekasi Watershed, and its existence is crucial for the sustainability of the local economy and the survival of the community, industry, agriculture, and commerce surrounding the riverbanks. It is also the raw water source for Regional Water Company. This study aims to assess the water quality of the Cileungsi River and its pollution status using the Pollution Index (PI) method. This research was conducted at six sampling points, covering the upstream, middle, and downstream sections in both the dry and rainy seasons of 2022. The method used to analyze the water quality of the Cileungsi River refers to the Indonesian National Standard. In contrast, the calculation of the PI refers to the Decree of the State Minister of Environment. During the dry season, the PI at the Regional Water Company bridge in Kota Wisata and beside PT Rahayu Indah Kulit fell into the moderately polluted category, with PI values of 5.49 and 7.30, respectively. The highest PI value during the rainy season was recorded at 10.30 on the border of Bogor Regency and Bekasi City, which falls within the heavily polluted category. The Gunung Putri area has a lightly polluted index value in both seasons. The parameters that require attention are BOD, NO2-, free chlorine, and fecal coliform, which serve as indicators of pollution from household and agricultural activities. These results will help the Bogor Regency government develop strategies to protect and sustainably manage the Cileungsi River.&nbsp

    Get PDF
Background: The development of Korean pop culture (K-pop) has become a global phenomenon that permeates various aspects of life, including Indonesia. Its success extends beyond the entertainment sector, significantly influencing the lifestyle and consumption behaviour of its enthusiasts. Many fans are not only passionate about their idols\u27 music and performances but also tend to purchase merchandise impulsively. Purpose: This study aims to examine the impact of perceived scarcity on impulsive buying behaviours for K-Pop merchandise, by exploring the mediating role of FOMO and the moderating effect of self-control. Method: Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through an online survey of 358 K-pop fans in Indonesia, selected via purposive sampling, and analysed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. Findings: The findings indicate that perceived scarcity has a positive and significant influence on FOMO, which in turn enhances impulsive buying behaviour.  However, perceived scarcity does not directly affect impulsive buying without the mediating role of FOMO. Moreover, self-control significantly moderates the relationship between FOMO and impulsive buying by weakening the effect, indicating that individuals with greater self-control are less likely to engage in impulsive purchases despite experiencing FOMO. Conclusions: This research highlights the significant influence of FOMO on impulsive buying behaviour among K-Pop fans, particularly in the context of scarcity-based marketing. In contrast, self-control functions as a mitigating factor. Research implication: The findings provide valuable insights for marketers to implement ethical scarcity-based strategies while encouraging responsible consumer behaviour among K-Pop fans

STRATEGIC ANALYSIS OF BALI TUNA EXPORT TRANSPORTATION LOGISTICS PATTERNS IN THE FACING OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC EMERGENCY SITUATION: ANALYTICAL HIERARCHY PROCESS (AHP) APPROACH

    No full text
The COVID-19 pandemic caused major disruptions to the tuna export logistics chain from Bali, primarily due to air transport restrictions, limited logistics infrastructure, and fluctuating production volumes. This study aims to evaluate the most optimal export transportation logistics strategy in emergency situations using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The decision hierarchy includes four main criteria—logistics cost, reliability, resilience, and delivery time—and four strategic alternatives: air freight optimization, sea freight support, development of integrated logistics centers, and land-sea multimodal transport. The results show that delivery time (0.34945) and reliability (0.33064) are the dominant factors. Air freight optimization emerged as the best strategy (ideal score: 1.000), ensuring rapid distribution and cold chain integrity. This study highlights the importance of resilient logistics by emphasizing speed, reliability, and adaptability in response to external shocks. The findings provide strategic insights for stakeholders in formulating robust fisheries export logistics policies to anticipate future global disruptions. Key words: cold chain, freight consolidation, logistic efficiency, resilience, transport mode

Gastrointestinal neoplasia is an increasingly recognized condition in dogs, particularly in predisposed breeds, such as Rottweilers. A 4-year-old Rottweiler was presented by its owner to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, IPB University, with clinical signs including coughing, dyspnea, lethargy, and intermittent yellow-brown, malodorous feces. Diagnostic evaluations revealed significant abnormalities in the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems. This report describes the clinical presentation, diagnostic approach, and management of a dog with suspected gastrointestinal neoplasia. The patient was provisionally diagnosed with gastrointestinal neoplasia with a poor prognosis. Although surgical intervention is generally recommended, the compromised pulmonary function of the dog precluded general anesthesia; therefore, management was limited to symptomatic and supportive therapy.

Tiny Circular Economy Practices in the Cagayan Valley Region, Philippines: A Case Study of Native Chicken Farmers

    Get PDF
This study investigated the adoption of tiny circular economy (TCE) practices among native chicken farmers in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines, examining the influence of farmers’ perceptions and motivations on TCE practices. Using a purposive sample of 400 farmers, the research explored how farmers’ perceptions of support from government and non-government organizations, alongside their motivations (existence, relatedness, and growth), impact the implementation of TCE in native chicken production. Data were analyzed by using multiple linear regression to quantify these effects. The findings reveal that a significant majority (68.25%) of farmers in the region have adopted sustainable TCE practices, which form a circular system encompassing food production, consumption, and waste management. These practices include utilizing leftover food as chicken feed, allowing chickens to forage naturally, employing organic fertilizers derived from animal manure and plant waste, and selling chickens and eggs for income. Moreover, the results indicated that farmers’ perception of the support from government and NGOs had a significant impact on TCE adoption (p<0.05), whereas motivation exerted a stronger influence (p<0.01). Additionally, TCE adoption leads to reduced production costs (particularly feed and fertilizer), increased income from premium-priced organic products, waste reduction, and overall environmental sustainability. The findings suggest that farmers’ perception and motivation have a positive influence on the adoption of smallholder TCE practices, contributing to reducing production costs, increasing income, and promoting sustainable development in native chicken farming

Characterization and Typology Analysis of Cattle Breeding Practices on Rural Farms in Northern Côte d’Ivoire

A comprehensive understanding of agricultural production variables is essential for developing effective agricultural strategies. To identify the key factors shaping cattle farming practices in Côte d’Ivoire, a study was conducted to characterize the diversity of livestock farming practices and identify the different typologies of livestock production systems in the northern (Poro, Tchologo, and Bagoué) and north-eastern (Bounkani) regions. The methodology involved a structured survey targeting livestock farmers. Participants were selected based on two main criteria: the accessibility of their farms and their willingness to share information. Data collection was carried out using a standardized questionnaire designed to gather information on socio-economic characteristics, herd composition, farming practices, and constraints. Of the 105 livestock farmers initially identified, only 53 satisfied the inclusion criteria and were included in the survey. The results revealed that cattle farming is predominantly managed by Peulh ethnic groups originating from neighbouring countries (Mali and Burkina Faso) to the north. Herds are largely composed of Méré and Zebu cattle breeds. Through data analysis, three distinct livestock production systems were identified: (i) sedentary native farmers engaged in livestock rearing as a secondary activity alongside trade, (ii) semi-transhumant Fulani pastoralists for whom livestock is the primary livelihood, and (iii) agro-pastoralists integrating crop and livestock farming. The main challenges reported by farmers include feed shortages and animal diseases, with additional constraints related to land-use conflicts and limited access to agricultural services. Farmers expressed the need for designated grazing areas, affordable feed supplements, and improved access to veterinary care. This typology provides a clear view of livestock systems in Côte d’Ivoire. It serves as an effective foundation for an integrated strategy to improve Ivorian livestock production
