Bioprospecting of Pectinase-Producing Bacteria from Marine Actinomycetes
Pectinase is used in a variety of industries, including fruit juice production, textile processing, papermaking, biodegumming, coffee and tea manufacturing, medicines, feed, and nutraceuticals. The demand for pectinase enzymes grows year after year. Industrial applications require high-activity enzymes that can increase considerable product yields while also improving based on needs and byproduct use. Indonesia\u27s industry continues to rely on imported pectinase enzymes. Indonesia, on the other hand, possesses megabiodiversity, particularly marine microorganisms, which have the potential to provide new enzymes with high activity for industrial applications. This work aims to undertake bioprospecting of marine actinomycetes producing pectinase enzymes that have the capacity to hydrolyze pectin polymer, both from commercial and biomass sources. A total of 20 marine actinomycetes isolates from sediment, seawater, and sponges were bioprospected, and one isolate was selected with high pectinase activity (BLH 1.20), which was then used to characterize pH, temperature, hydrolysis analysis on pectin polymers, and isolate identification using 16s rRNA analysis. The selected isolate (BLH 1.20) performed best in a sodium phosphate buffer with a pH of 6.0 and a temperature of 30°C, achieving an activity of 5.4 U/mL. The 16S rRNA analysis revealed that the isolate is from the genus Streptomyces and the species Streptomyces sampsonii.

Estuary and Marine Waters Characteristics of the Sungai Nibung Village Coastal Waters, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan
Sungai Nibung Village is a KKPP3K (Coastal Waters and Small Islands Conservation Area) in Kubu Raya District. This community features an abundance of diverse natural resources, such as crab, fish, shrimp, squid, octopus, and finless dolphins. This indigenous biota is sustained by fertility and high water quality. Water fertility reveals high nutrient concentration and identifies phytoplankton as primary producers. Water contains nutrients in the form of nitrates and phosphates. Phytoplankton and other aquatic species require these nutrients to survive. The concentration of chlorophyll-a, the primary pigment of phytoplankton, which has a role in photosynthesis, can also be used to estimate the trophic state of waterways. The fertility of Sungai Nibung Village waters in the sea (Station I and II), estuary (Station III), and river (Station IV and V) has been assessed. Nitrate and phosphate levels in water samples were assessed in line with SNI 06-2480-1991 and SNI 06-6989.31.2005, respectively. The chlorophyll-a was evaluated using the trichromatic method with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at 664, 647, and 630 nm. Sungai Nibung Village\u27s waters include 0.9−1.5 mg/L nitrate and 2.06−2.19 mg/L phosphate. Chlorophyll-a levels range from 2−5 μg/L, placing them in the low category.

Proximate Characteristics and Antioxidant Activity of Polyherbal Extract in Yogurt
Fermented dairy products, such as yogurt, are well known for their health advantages. Enhancing their functional value using polyherbal mixtures constitutes a big step forward in functional food development. This study looks at the proximate composition (fat, protein, moisture, and ash content) and antioxidant activity of polyherbal yogurt enriched with green tea, cinnamon, and fenugreek seed extracts. Formulations were created with varied amounts of polyherbal extract at 0% (P0), 1% (P1), 2% (P2), and 3% (P3), with Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus as starter cultures (Lactina Ltd). A completely randomized design with three replications was used, and the data were analyzed using ANOVA at a 95% confidence level. The results showed substantial variations in fat (2.84−3.62%) and moisture (88.17−8.83%) content between treatments. Protein (3.92−5.03%) and ash level (0.76−0.77%) met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for yogurt. Polyherbal yogurt demonstrated considerably higher antioxidant activity and capacity than the control. The control yogurt (P0) had a poor antioxidant capacity of 60.81±10.89%, while polyherbal yogurt (P1, P2, and P3) had a high antioxidant capacity ranging from 252.40±11.20% to 267.44±1.44%. These findings indicate that including polyherbal extracts into yogurt not only ensures compliance with national nutritional standards (SNI), but also considerably increases antioxidant potential. Thus, polyherbal yogurt is an appealing prospect for development as a beneficial dairy product.

Community Structure and Carbon Stock of Mangrove Sediments in Sembilang National Park Area
Increased greenhouse gas emissions have led to climate change. Indonesia plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 140 million tons of CO₂-equivalent (CO₂e) by 2030. One strategy for achieving this goal is to conserve mangrove habitats. However, unsustainable activities continue to jeopardize the survival of these mangroves. The purpose of this study was to investigate the community structure and sediment carbon content of mangrove ecosystems in Sembilang National Park. Data was obtained at three stations using 100-m transects extending inland from the seashore or riverbank. The sediment carbon analysis was carried out utilizing the Loss on Ignition (LOI) method. Excoecaria agallocha had the highest Importance Value Index (IVI) at the Sungai Barong station, followed by Rhizophora apiculata in the Sungai Sanjang and Birik stations. The mangrove ecosystems at the study sites were characterized as moderately dense. The investigation revealed that the carbon store in mangrove sediments was 1294.14 t/ha, with an average of 431.38 t/ha. Mangrove ecosystems must be managed and protected to ensure that they continue to provide ecological and economic advantages.
