Background: Higher education institutions (HEIs) are increasingly expected to maintain meaningful long-term relationships with alumni. Customer Relationship Management (CRM), particularly when integrated with social media, has emerged as a key strategy for fostering alumni engagement, satisfaction, and contribution.Purpose: This study aims to identify the best-fit structural model that explains alumni contributions through CRM and social media interaction, while also investigating the role of social media as a moderator, mediator, or intervening variable in these relationships.Design/methodology/approach: The study employed Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to simulate twelve alternative models using data from 271 alumni of IPB University. These models varied in CRM structure, the inclusion of satisfaction, and the positioning of social media within the pathway.Findings/Result: Twelve structural CRM models were simulated to examine the effect of CRM and social media on alumni outcomes. Among them, Model 12 demonstrated the best fit, with strong explanatory power (R²), predictive relevance (Q²), and low prediction error (RMSE/MAE). The model reveals a sequential pathway: CRM → Customer Satisfaction → Customer Engagement → Customer Loyalty → Alumni Contributions. CRM also influences Social Media, which in turn enhances Satisfaction. All structural paths are statistically significant, indicating that both CRM and social media play a critical role in driving alumni contributions through a satisfaction-based relational process. Conclusion: CRM in higher education is most effective when treated as a socially constructed process mediated by digital interaction. Social media strengthens institutional trust and emotional connection, playing a critical role in converting alumni satisfaction into sustained loyalty and contribution. Universities should implement social CRM strategies by leveraging digital platforms, personalizing alumni communication, and supporting long-term engagement programs.Originality/value: This study contributes to CRM theory by applying social construction theory to alumni engagement and offering an empirically validated model of how social media enhances relational CRM in HEIs. The findings have practical implications for alumni management strategies in the digital era. Keywords: CRM, social media, alumni engagement, higher education, social construction theor

    Get PDF
Background: The increasing demand for English certification programs has led educational institutions to refine their digital marketing strategies to reach potential candidates effectively. However, demographic factors, such as gender and occupation, significantly influence how consumers perceive and engage in promotional content. Understanding these differences is crucial for designing targeted and effective marketing strategies in the educational sector.Purpose: This study examines how gender and occupation influence respondents\u27 perceptions of the promotion mix for an English certification program, the preferred channel for discovering certification events, and their motivation for enrolling. The research particularly explores preferences in social media usage, word-of-mouth recommendations, interactivity in official accounts, soft versus hard selling content, and the effectiveness of ads across different platforms.Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative research design was employed with 500 respondents (250 male and 250 female) from different occupational backgrounds: students, freelancers, job seekers, and professionals. Data were analyzed using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) to simultaneously assess the influence of gender and occupation on multiple dependent variables. Normality tests confirmed that the data met the assumptions of MANOVA analysis.Findings/Result: The results reveal the following: Gender significantly influenced respondents’ preference for word-of-mouth recommendations (p2) and interactive official accounts (p3), with females showing higher engagement in both; Occupation significantly affects social media preference (p1), promotional content style (p4), and the preferred channel for event discovery, with students and job seekers favoring Instagram/TikTok, whereas professionals rely more on LinkedIn and email marketing; Interaction effects (gender × occupation) were significant for preference for interactive official accounts, particularly among female students and female job seekers; No significant differences were found in ad placement preferences (p5) across gender and occupation groups. Conclusion: This study highlights that gender and occupation are key determinants of digital marketing effectiveness in English certification programs. Marketing strategies should be tailored to demographic segments, with peer-driven promotions and interactive content appealing more to female audiences, while channel selection and content style should be aligned with occupational preferences.Originality/value (State of the art): This study contributes to the digital marketing and education industry by providing empirical evidence on how demographic factors influence the effectiveness of promotion mix strategies. Unlike previous studies that focus solely on gender or occupation, this study examines their combined effects using MANOVA analysis, offering a more comprehensive understanding of consumer preferences in education marketing. These findings provide practical insights for marketers to develop more personalized and data-driven promotional strategies for online courses and certification programs. Keywords: digital marketing, promotion mix, social media advertising, consumer behavior, english certification, gender difference

The increased consumption of oyster mushrooms in Indonesia faces challenges due to their short shelf life, which makes it difficult to sell them in fresh form. One of the solutions is to process them into oyster mushroom chips, which offer a longer shelf life and appeal as a snack product. This study aimed to evaluate oyster mushroom chips\u27 physicochemical and sensory qualities and calculate their production costs. The research was conducted in two stages. In the first stage, oyster mushroom chips were produced by applying a pretreatment to the fresh oyster mushrooms (blanching and rinsing), and coating them using different flours (wheat flour and a mixture of wheat and rice flour). The resulting oyster mushroom chips were analyzed for their sensory quality. In the second stage, the chips were produced using the best treat-ment identified in the first stage, followed by frying at different temperatures (150 °C or 155 °C). The resulting chips were analyzed for physicochemical and sensory quality, and their production cost was calcu-lated. The results of the first stage showed that the combination of rinsing and wheat flour coating produced chips that were significantly preferred by the panelists for taste, aroma, and texture attributes. The second stage showed that there were no significant sensory quality differences between chips fried at 150 °C or 155 °C. However, the frying temperature caused significant differences in the fat, protein, carbohydrate, crude fiber content, and total energy of the chips. The production cost of the oyster mushroom chips was Rp 31,748 per 250 g package

White tea, made from young tea leaves dried without enzymatic fermentation, retains higher antioxidant content and has a unique sensory profile based on its growing region and processing method. Fourier transform infrared resonance (FTIR) spectrophotometry measures the absorption of infrared radiation by molecular bonds, generating a unique fingerprint. FTIR can monitor changes in the chemical composition during tea processing. Each producer may have different processing techniques that affect tea quality. A study analyzed white tea samples from five producers in Java, Indonesia, using FTIR fingerprinting and antioxidant activity. Sample D from Central Java had the highest DPPH antioxidant activity, followed by samples E (from West Java), H (from East Java), and P and G (from West Java). FTIR fingerprint analysis identified common absorption peaks at wave numbers 1242 (ester), 1600–1400 (ring double bond), 3518 cm⁻¹ (phenol), 2360 (amine), and 1400–1200 cm⁻¹ (carbonyl). Orthogonal partial least squares–discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) grouped the samples into two classes regardless of the region: D, E, and H in class 1, and P and G in class 2. Wave numbers attributed to amine, aromatic, and aldehyde groups were among the discriminating markers for class 1 and class 2. The results of OPLS analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between wave numbers 1258, 1342, 1466, 2392, and 2685 cm⁻¹. These wave numbers were found at higher intensities in sample D, which had the highest antioxidant activity. Thus, they can be used as important markers for white tea with good antioxidant activity

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the fishing industry is often overlooked, despite the extremely high potential for work-related accidents. This study aims to analyze the risks during the post-harvest process of shark fins at Tanjung Luar Fishing Port and UD Mamenasae using the Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) method. The results indicate that nearly all activities, especially cargo hold unloading, transfer, transport, identification, shark cutting, and fin drying, have a high-risk potential for accidents such as falls/slips, musculoskeletal complaints, cuts, and sunburn. Some processes, including transportation to collectors, storage, sorting, and packaging, carry a moderate risk of concussion or respiratory disorders. Furthermore, all stages present a low risk of bacterial infectious diseases. The primary hazards identified include slippery floors, non-ergonomic work postures, sharp objects, the absence of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), sun exposure, and a lack of railings. As a mitigative measure, temporary actions such as improved hygiene, provision of PPE, ergonomic improvements, and education are highly recommended to reduce potential hazards and enhance workplace safety.
