Environmental Risk Factors of Malaria Cases, at Lahat Regency, South Sumatra Province, Indonesia
Combat Malaria is one of goals achievement MDGs. Lahat Regency is one of malaria endemic area in South Sumatra Province with a prevalence of 16.4% and AMI of 22.08 respectively. The purpose of this study was to determine the significance among the environmentally risky factors with the incidence of malaria. The retrospective study of case control reports was carried out of 240 respondents with a ratio of 1:2 cases group and control group. Summary of result ware association between breeding place and malaria cases (p value= 0.000), some variables are not significance with the incidence of malaria, such as firstly the distance of the house to the breeding place (p value = 0.145), secondly utilization of mosquito nets (p value = 0.291), thirdly use of anti- mosquito (p value = 0.411) and fourthly habit of going out at night (p value= 0.439). From the results of multivariate analysis of variables affect the malaria incidence is the breeding place, with odds ratio is 5.034 (95% CI: 2.65 to 9.56). The best strategy to control malaria disease in Lahat Regency is to reduce the breeding place of the mosquito through promoting the environmental management as the preventive action.

Influence of Air Preheat Combustion on The Temperature of Propane Turbulent Flame: A Computational Modelling Study
This paper presents results obtained from the application of a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code Fluent 6.3 to modelling of temperature in propane flames with and without air preheat. The study focuses to investigate the effect of air preheat temperature on the temperature of the flame. A standard k-ssipation model are utilized torepresent the flow field and combustion of the flame being investigated, respectively. The results of calculations are compared with experimental data of propane flame taken from literature. The results of the study show that a combination of the standard k-capable of producing reasonable predictions of temperature, particularly in axial profile of all three flames. Both experimental works and numerical simulation showed that increasing the temperature of the combustion air significantly increases the flame temperature.
Pain and Its Compensation of Thalassemia Patients in Indonesia
Thalassemia is a disorder in which there is a reduction in the production of one or more of the globin chains. Thalassemia is a genetic disease that affects life of the sufferer, i.e. chronic anemia, abnormalities of various organs of the body due to disease or treatment. Collection of tissue ischemia and fibrosis will trigger the pain. This study aimed to explore pain and treatment in patients with thalassemia. A total of 66.7% of respondents experience pain . Pain is usually located on the left and right abdomen. Pain is perceived to be located in the inside of the long bones and described as dizziness in the head. Pain is also perceived to affects activity, mood and patient’swalking endurance. A various nursing interventions are often implemented to minimize the pain, such as oils application and massage. However, a comprehensive pain management is needed to minimize pain . Administration of blood transfusions must be followed by treatment to reduce iron overload in the body.
Febrile Neutropenia in Cancer Patients: Microbiology and Empirical Antibiotic Therapy
This study was conducted to evaluate the empirical antibiotic therapy for febrile neutropenic patients, patterns of bacterial isolates and their drug resistance. Method: It was a retrospective study; data of the patients admitted to the university hospital from 1/1/2010 to 1/6/2012 was evaluated retrospectively. ICD-10 for Cancer patients was used to locate the HN of oncology patients. Then Data for all of these patients was reviewed according to our inclusion criteria to select our sample population. Results: A total of 272 microorganisms were isolated during the study period. Gram-negative bacteria accounted for 73.5% of organisms, while gram-positive organisms accounted for 21.6% of the total isolates. Ninety-three (48.9%) episodes were found to have inappropriate empirical antibiotic therapy. Bacterial isolates of 40 episodes were found to be resistant against the prescribed therapy, which is the 43.0% of the all episodes identified with inappropriate therapy. Thirty episodes (32.25%) were found to have delay in the empirical therapy and for remaining 23 episodes 24.73%, no fungal therapy was prescribed after continuous episode of febrile neutropenia for 7 days. Conclusion: Gram-negative organisms are the predominant organisms in adult febrile neutropenic patients at our institute. Initial empirical therapy with piperacillin/tazobactam seems appropriate to cover most gram-negative pathogens, but considering high resistance of Klebsiella pneumoniae, other antipseudomonal b-lactam agent with no resistance should be considered. If fever does not settle after 4-7 days of antibiotic treatment, anti-fungal therapy should be added.
The Effect of Culture Medium on Bacterial Cellulose Production as Edible Film Material
The study aimed to produce edible film from bacterial cellulose by using starter Acetobacter xylinum in the media of coconut water and arenga pinnata juice. The different types of edible film were produced separately within a fermentation media. The fermentation method was used to produce bacterial cellulose as edible film material. Edible film sheets were produced by Acetobacter xylinum under the different culture medium: 100% of arenga pinnata juice, 100% of coconut water, and 75% arenga pinnata juice and 25% coconut water, 25% arenga pinnata juice and 75% coconut water and 50% arenga pinnata juice and 50% coconut water mixtures. The products of edible film from different culture medium were tested for physical properties and observed for biodegradation in soil. The results showed that the percentage of weight loss increased during intervals of time. Edible film yielded from the media of 25% arenga pinnata juice and 75% coconut water indicated the highest of % weight loss at 9th day. The physical properties of edible film were figured out as water absorption, strength of break, and elongation. The results showed that edible film produced from 75% of arenga pinnata juice and 25% coconut water had the highest elongation around 10%. In addition, the strength of break of edible film produced from 50% of arenga pinnata juice and 50% coconut water was 2.27 Kgf/mm2. It was the highest among the other culture medium. The hypothesis on the study was edible film could be produced from the culture medium. Edible film can be an alternative to solve the environmental problems.
Moderation Role of Size and Environmental Dynamics on Relationship of Workplace Flexibility and Performance (A Study at Furniture Company in Surakarta)
This study aims to determine the factors that affect the performance of the company's furniture. Survey design used and the sampling based on convenience sampling. A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed and 54 questionnaires returned (return rate 45%). The analysis was done by the regression hierarchical method. Among the five types of flexibility, only the intensity of outsourcing (IO) and functional flexibility 1 (FF1) have significant effect on return on asset (ROA). Almost all types of flexibility significant influence on return on sales (ROS), except the IO. This means that marketing effectiveness is closely related to flexibility, especially external numerical flexibility (FNE). Overtime has negative impact on ROS. On total profit (TP), only two types of flexibility significantly, the FF1 and FNE, respectively positive and negative. Among the five types of flexibility relationship with ROA, firm size (UK) only significant moderating on two types of flexibility, the IO and functional flexibility 2 (FF2). Firm size is positively and significantly moderate the relationship between FF2 with ROS. The relationship between flexibility and TP did not differ between large and small companies. Dynamic environment does not moderate the effect of flexibility on the performance measured by ROA, ROS and TP. Smaller furniture companies are more suitable outsourcing intensity (I O), because increasing I O will increase ROA or higher efficiency. Large furniture company is better suited to the flexibility functional 2 (FF2) than smaller companies if they want to increase ROS.
Maternal Factors, Neonatal Factors Associated with Neonatal Iodine Deficiency in Phetchaburi Province
The neonate iodine deficiency causes from insufficient access of iodized salt during pregnancy or congenital hypothyroidism of newborn. Even though, Phetchaburi is a seacoast province, it was found that 66.3 % of pregnancy woman had urinary iodine level less than100 g/l which is in the third highest rank of Thailand. Meanwhile, there were 80% of pregnancy woman had the urinary iodine concentration less than 150 g/l which considered as the fourth highest rank in Thailand. The root causes of the iodine deficiency of newborns in Phetchaburi still unclearly identified. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between maternal and neonatal factors and Iodine deficiency in Phetchaburi Province. The results found that the neonate iodine deficiency was 17.02 which were in mild severity level. When considered the relationship weight, anemia in pregnancy, number of pregnancies, maternal age, and economic status were moderately linked to the occurrences of iodine deficiency in newborn. The factor that highly related to newborn iodine deficiency was health promoting behavior during pregnancy. On the other hand, the congenital hypothyroidism and iodized salt receiving during pregnancy were not associated to newborn iodine deficiency. The findings suggested that to prevent and solve the neonate iodine deficiency in Phetchaburi, the campaign should be performed during the fetus stage. For maternal factors, an appropriate age of pregnancy (at least 18 years old), number of gravida (should not exceed 3 times), the iodized salt fortify strategies should be suggested to pregnancy women.
