    Get PDF
Ecosystem-based approach in fisheries management is still a new concept in fisheries management in Malaysia. This is approach adopted by Department of Fisheries (DOF) mainly to suppress fishing effort through the enforcement of the Fisheries Act 1985. It was later admitted that the approach had failed to meet its objective. This paper describes the implementation of ecosystem approach in managing the mangroves ecosystem using the Before After Control Impact (BACI) design to detect the cause of perturbation as a result of management decision. If the cause of the perturbation is confirmed, and it is caused by the management decision, then the decision is to be reconsidered. The pilot project proposed is to assess the suitability, preparedness and the acceptance of the eco- approach by society and the authority. In managing mangroves ecosystem, both society and the authority sit together in a committee to formulate a management plan that in general oversees the wellbeing of the mangroves benefiters using scientific data and knowledge.

Rice has been widely known as a basic commodity for Indonesian people as a source of energy and carbohydrate. Indonesian institution for agricultural research and development is Indonesian government institution whose program is to increase rice production and keep up food security, especially with the use technological innovation. One of the environment friendly technology innovations is through System of Rice Intensification (SRI). The objectives of this study are analyze the net profit and the level of the farmers' practice in SRI project, analyze the correlation between the level of practice and the net profit in SRI project, and analyze the problems and obstacles of SRI project in the practice. Descriptive statistics such as; mean, frequency, and percentage to know the net profit and the level of the farmers' practice in SRI project. Quantitative analysis is correlation analysis by Rank Spearman Correlation Coefficient to analyze the correlation between the level of practice and the net profit in SRI project. The result of the study revealed that the net profit of rice farming obtained by SRI farmers is IDR 16,045,593 per hectare. While that Q-SRI farmers is IDR 9,321,610 per hectare. So that, the net profit of SRI farmers higher than Q-SRI farmers around 40 percent per hectare. The high level of practice such as; seeds selection with salt water, make the seedbed before cultivating, transplant seedlings at young age - 7 to 12 days old, transplanting one-two seeds per hole, transplanting wide spacing, and practicing the intermittent irrigation. The result of the correlation between the level of practice and the net profit in SRI project is relatively high. This implies that the higher the level of practice of the SRI projects principles, the higher of the positive correlation with the net profit.

Background: Cervical cancer (neck of the womb) is an important health issue and the leading cause of cancer- related death in women in developing countries. This is a the third type of most common cancer in women, with more than 1.4 million occurrence worldwide. More than 460,000 cases and 80% of them occur in developing countries and about 231,000 women die every year. According to The Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia (2000), cervical cancer incidence were 100 per 100 thousand people per year. The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of the incidence of cervical carcinoma amongst the participants of cervical cancer prevention program with "see and treat" IVA examination method, and assessed the determinants affected its incidence. This study is an observational study using secondary data, derived from Female Cancer Programme, MFS "See and Treat" Project Leiden University Medical Center Leiden, The Netherlands collaborates with eight universities in Indonesia, collected by cross-sectional design. The sequence analysis of data includes univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis. The results of study revealed that the most dominant major variables affecting the incidence of cervical carcinoma was vaginal fluids where the value of p = 0.000 OR = 4.17 (95% CI :2,61-6, 65). Interaction variables associated with the occurrence of cervical carcinoma was abnormal vaginal discharge (excessively, smelling and yellow) with the age of first marriage p = 0.003, OR = 0.88 (95% CI :0,34-2, 23). Guidance and counseling should be socialized concerning the main determinants associated with the incidence of cervical carcinoma through the media effectively and efficiently to encourage the women for regularly check-up.

This paper explore neural network method for predicting the stock market which much-needed accuracy. There are three predictions that can be made in the stock market, the stock price index prediction, prediction of the direction of the stock and the stock return prediction. Stock market predictions discussed in this paper are limited to the stock in open price trend but it shown also about stock index. To deal with stock market data are time series is required some modifications to the neural network used to predict the stock market, while the stock index prediction will yielding a specific trend will be able to determine more precisely, it has been limited one month for the data prediction. By getting the proper method will be able to reduce the uncertainty of the position of the price of a value separation both in short term and long term. In this study the resulting of the prediction the next day with Neural Network got the error 0,0002 with bias 3,90500 it shown that the trend is so accurate and this is the best method to prediction of the value with the very small error and bias.

Indonesian population is aging rapidly, however aging has not yet been identified as an important policy issue in Indonesia. Primary Health Care Centre (Puskesmas) is a functional health organization unit and public health development centre, it job is building community participation and provide comprehensive and integrated services to the community under its coverage in the forms of principal activities. There are many problem contracting puskesmas in Aceh (also in Indonesia). The first , many activities carried out by puskesmas do not correspond with the health problem in the community. Second, community involvement is an essential part of puskesmas, however this resources has not been optimalized yet. The purpose of this project would be more on enhancing community involvement. The governemnent have initiated program for the elderly called Integrated Health Post for the elderly or usually called Posbindu as a peer group of elderly in villages. Posbindu could increase community involvement in field of health by providing health services in collaboration with health professionals of community health centers. However this program is not yet to be implemented in most part of Aceh. Therefore, in order to increase the community involvement in enhancing the health of the elderly we are planning to develop a prototype project called The Health The main purpose of Keupula is to increase the well being of elderly by conducting independent activities of elderly group. To prove that by utilizing the community the well being of the elderly in the community could be achieved we need to conduct prototype project called Keupula. If Keupula can result in increasing the elderly well being, hopefully the district health office will consider to involved in the program, thus will create sustainability of the program.
