The Level of Community Participation in Environmental Impact Assessment (Eia), a Case Study of 100 Mw Gas Power Plant Project
This paper presents the level of community participation in Environmental Impact Assessment process. One of the important stages of EIA is involvement of stakeholders whom will be supposed to decide what to be done in their areas for their own development and conserving environment. However, most of the development projects tend to ignore the involvement of community participation and brought so many conflicts between the developer and the affected society. In this study quantitative and qualitative data were used to collect the required data. The data were collected through structured questionnaires, observation, interview, focus group and documentary reviews. The study reveals the level of community participation was very low, community was not involved in early stages of the designing project and the information of the meeting was provided late, this allows little time for them to make preparation. The study recommended that there should be early involvement of community, notice of meeting to be announced one week prior to the meeting date and enough time must be given to participants to send comments.
Speos (Endorphins and Oxytocin Massage Stimulation and Suggestive Provision) Reduced the Duration of Breast Milk Production Among the Puerperal Women in Midwife Private Practitioners of Cirebon District
Breastfeeding in the first days after birth can reduce the risk of neonatal mortality up to 45%. The problem is early production of breast milk is one reason for not breastfeeding a baby that in turn it will be bad for the baby‘s life. This can be caused by hormonal, psychological and confidence factors. SPEOS method is an alternative way of breastfeeding problems in terms of breast milk production. By this study, the effectiveness of SPEOS method in puerperal to breast milk production were observed. This study employed an experimental study with quasi experimental design performed with providing a treatment or intervention to the subjects. A total of 22 postpartum women were obtained as a treatment group as well as the control group with 22 postpartum women. The sampling technique used consecutive sampling in which postpartum mothers who came in sequence and met the selection criteria were included in the study to meet the number of subject requirement. The duration of breast milk production (in hours) was recorded in a daily check-list until the third day after massage. We noticed that SPEOS intervention increased the number of puerperal women who experienced breast milk production 24 hours after treatment. Without SPEOS supplementation, the majority of respondents succeed to breast milk production 72 hours after the respondents had delivery. SPEOS method includes three main aspects in the breastfeeding milk production which are the hormonal and neural stimulants, psychological factors, and the own women faith factors. Through this method, the three aspects can be achieved in order to provide the peurperal women to the shorten breast milk production after had delivery. Providing the breast milk production in the first day may reduce the risk of neonatal mortality.
Aromatherapy Massage as an Alternative in Reducing Cortisol Level and Enhancing Breastmilk Production on Primiparous Postpartum Women in Semarang
Less breastmilk production after giving birth was possibly caused by the lack of prolactin and oxytocin hormones stimulation. Physical and emotional stresses contribute on disorder of breastmilk production reflex by the reduction of oxytocin during breastfeeding. Massage can increase milk production by 11.5 times and decrease 28% cortisol levels‘s whilst aromatherapy massage normally more effective in improving prolactin levels. The research aimed to prove the effect of aromatherapy massage toward cortisol level and breastmilk production of primaparous postpartum women in Semarang. Quasi-experimental study with non-equivalent control group design was employed. Sampling was drawn consecutively, make it totally 44 postpartum women were involved. Paired t-test and one way Anova were employed as data analysis. There was an effect of massage, aromatherapy, and aromatherapy massage toward breastmilk production with each p-value = 0.000. Significant differences of breastmilk production occurred among the four groups (p-value = 0,000). Massage, aromatherapy, and aromatherapy massage influenced cortisol level (p-value = 0,004; p value = 0,001; p value = 0,000) and there was a significant effect on cortisol level in four groups (p value = 0,047). Aromatherapy massage was proven in reducing cortisol level and enhancing breastmilk production on primaparous postpartum women in Semarang. Therefore, it is recommended to provide aromatherapy massage to every postpartum women.
River Water Quality Assessment Using Benthic Macroinvertebrates in Citarum Upstream Indonesia
Assessment of river water quality because changes in land use and pollution were still a problems in several countries, particularly in developing countries, included Indonesia. Based on river water quality assessment, index needs to be developed using bio-indicators. The aim of study was to determined the benthic macroinvertebrates community in predicted water quality based on influence of organic pollutants, inorganic, nutrients, and toxic. Measurement of the physical and chemical parameter have been done on momentary conditions, and then used benthic macroinvertebrates as biological parameter to indicate the actual environmental conditions based on the characteristics of each benthic macroinvertebrates relating to the preferences of local environmental conditions. This research based on case study and using the purposive sampling method with three times sampling in July, September and November 2014 at 7 locations in upstream Citarum. Further analysis of water quality data using pollution index and benthic index of biological for the assessment of river water quality. The results show that for all site the dominant benthic is Chironomidae. Parameter BOD, COD, TSS, Turbidity, and substrate are the most affected for benthic macroinvertebrates. Pollution index results index value range from 1.64 to 5.37 and Family Biotic Index results index value range from 4.17 to 7.13. For linear regression analysis between Pollution Index and Family Biotic Index obtained the value of the correlation coefficient (R) 0.53 showed the most significant relationship between the two index compared to the other. Based on the results of evaluation station Wayang mountain, Guha mountain, Puncak Cae mountain, and Halimun mountain are not polluted until slightly polluted. While Cikitu Village, Babakan Village, and Wangisagara are moderate polluted until heavy polluted.
The Meaning of Destinations Competitiveness
Studies on the competitiveness of tourist destinations has been dominated by quantitative research is deemed not able to explain the phenomena behind reality.
