Determination of Optimum Condition on Coal Desulfurization by Electrolysis Method
Inorganic sulfur in coal consists mostly of iron sulfides called “pyritic sulfur” that is covalently bound to the carbon atoms. Before being used as a fuel, coal needs to be given early treatment desulfurization in an effort to reduce emissions of SO2 that could pollute the air because of coal combustion. Some method has been applied to reduce sulfur content and most of the effective coal desulfurization are based on chemical method. One of them that being hotly debated is electrolysis. This research is purposed to find the optimum condition for reducing sulfur content on lignite coal by electrolysis method. In this research, H2SO4 is used as the electrolyte solution, while for anode and cathode is using graphite and stainless steel. The optimum condition is obtained at 0,3 M H2SO4 with speed of 100 rpm stirring for 60 minutes operation time which decreases sulfur content of 75%.
Rechtsvacuum in the Capital Market Regulation in Indonesia, A Case: The Embezzlement of Customers Funds by PT. Sarijaya Permana Sekuritas.Tbk.
The activities in the capital market have given an important influence on economic conditions in Indonesia. The capital market is one of the rapidly growing business areas. This resulted in the various crimes in the capital market which come up with diverse strategies. This happened in the case of embezzlement committed by the company in Indonesia. One of which is the embezzlement committed by directors and commissioners of Sarijaya Permana Sekuritas Company. The offense is not spesific regulated in The Act Number. 8 of 1995 about the Capital Market. This condition causes the confusion in the settlement of the case, that there is a rechtsvacuum. The author wants to analyse about how is the juridical analysis of rechtsvacuum in the embezzlement case of customers funds by Sarijaya Permana Sekuritas Company, and how is the law that should be used in the settlement of the case. This research is conducted with the study of documentation, namely collecting and researching of legal materials through a search of legal literatures by analyzing a legal decision from the court about the crime in the capital market, based on the Act and the related rules. In addition, the authors conclude that there is a rechtsvacuum in the case. In the consideration of the judgement, the judges stated that the defendant is proved guilty based on the judgement of the criminal case, but this case is a specific offence in the capital market and should be applied the Act of Capital Market. In Fact, In the Act of Capital Market has not the article about the embezzlement, with the result that in this case should be used the Criminal Code. Depending on these conditions, the regulations of capital market need to be revisited because there are some offenses are unregulated. Furthermore, the supervision by authority is important and needs to be tightened.
Heavy Metal Phytoremediation Agents in Industrial Wastewater Treatment Using Limnocharis flava Callus
Industrial wastewater derived from automotive, medicine, textile, paint and paper industries are quite large in Asia and often contain heavy metals which are dangerous if the waste contaminates the water. Nowadays, wastewater treatment methods have weakness that is requiring high costs and large sludge volume. Thus, a better and more environmental-friendly method is a need. Limnocharis flava is an Indonesian plant that can easily grow in extreme environmental condition. However, L. flava is an effective phytoremediation agent to absorb Pb as 26.1%, Fe 63.99%, Mn 63.21%, and Cd 19.7% - 52%. The most functional part of L. flava as phytoremediation agent is root. However, callus can be made from any part of plant such as root, seed, and apical leaf. This research of wastewater treatment is based on literature study method consists of the primary filtration, sedimentation, and combination of phytoremediation process using callus of Limnocharis flava. At the end, water flows into the filtration pool which contains purification media (sand, charcoal, gravel, and sawdust) before it is discharged into the river. L. flava callus is multiplied by tissue culture using the MS agar medium. MS medium supplemented with 1 mg/L BAP (Synthetic Cytokinin) and 1 mg/L NAA (Auxin) as an optimum growth hormone combination and adjust at pH 5.8 (25 ± 1 °C). Plant tissue is prepared using 8 weeks old L. flava and there will be callus growth in three weeks. Wastewater will contact with L. flava callus in container pool for 3 days. Callus should be replaced with newly cultured callus in every 15 days because of absorbance limit of the callus. Research shows that 15 plants of L. flava which have direct contact with wastewater in 13 days can decrease heavy metal accumulation value.
Linguistic Imperialism: The English/ASEAN Tension
In February 2009 the Charter of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was officially founded. Article 34 of the Charter states that, ‘The working language of ASEAN shall be English’. Today, this shared English language crosses cultural boundaries to unite communities both within and between ASEAN nations. ASEAN and even non-ASEAN countries are now able to trade and communicate on a global platform. This presentation will examine the first historical points of contact between the Eastern and Western worlds to understand how and why English language is so widespread in Asian countries. It will show that European nations introduced English to their Eastern colonies in the late eighteenth century with the intention of controlling and Westernizing the colonised, for political and economic gain. This imperialistic legacy has held fast in the West into the twenty-first century. A study of its history helps us better understand how the relationship between Europe and the ASEAN countries has shifted in previous centuries, from imperialism and political struggle to globalisation and mutual advancement.
A Finite Integration Method for A Time-Dependent Heat Source Identification of Inverse Problem
We investigate an inverse problem of reconstructing a timewise-dependent source for the heat equation. The solution of this problem is uniquely solvable, yet unstable. The inverse source problem two unknowns is reformulated to be a new form of forward problem one unknown. Furthermore, we propose that the finite integration method combined with the backward finite difference method can be used to solve the reformulated heat equation. The Tikhonov regularization method is employed to stabilize the noisy data. The proposed algorithm is not only easy to use but also can give an accurate and stable solution. Numerical result is presented and discussed.
Local Tourism Promotion through Multilingual Vlog in Garut, Indonesia
Nowadays, vlog or video blog is an informative media with various contents for people of all ages. There are videos with themes of daily activities, games, sport, and tourism. The existence of vlog with tourism themes make it possible to be one of the ways to promote local culture of a place. In addition, internet based support as channel for global publication also good for local wisdom promotion from everywhere to anywhere. This research is about an experiment on vlog project in Garut, West Java, Indonesia. The vlog explains about tourist places in Garut through different languages: English, German, and Mandarin. Qualitative descriptive is used in this research. The goals of this research are for giving experiment result from vlog project and information about tourism promotion in Garut, Indonesia, and Asia to all elements such as experts, academic staffs, students, government, and society in the world. Publication and video promotion production are the results of the research.
Effect of Empowerment of Cadres by Using Module for Changes in Nutritional Behavior in Pregnant Women in Dlingo, Bantul, Indonesia
The infant mortality rate in Indonesia is currently high. One of the causes is baby born with low birth weight (LBW). Prevalence of LBW in Sub-district Dlingo, District Bantul increase in three years (2013-2015) so it takes innovation to overcome them. Efforts to handle health problems are not only the responsibility of the government, but also the community. Indonesia organizes Posyandu, a community health effort in the implementation of health development, to empower the community and provide convenience to the public in obtaining basic health services to accelerate the reduction of MMR and IMR. The role of cadres in the implementation of Posyandu is very large because in addition to providing health information to the community as well as a community mobilizer to come to Posyandu, including in nutritional behavior. Unfortunately, nowadays cadres provide education to the community without a structured module so that variants of educational content, breadth of material, and tools are very varied. This study aims to determine the effect of empowerment of cadres with the use of modules for changes in nutritional behavior in pregnant women in Dlingo, Bantul. The design of this study was a pre-posttest with control group design. The study was conducted at 2 posyandu in Sub-district Dlingo, involving 10 health cadres. Total sample of 70 pregnant women consisted of 35 intervention groups and 35 control groups with purposive sampling technique. The intervention group was the group given the nutrition education in pregnant women using curriculum according to the module made by the researcher, while the control group was using leaflet and casual consultation (as usual, if needed). Data of pregnant women were obtained from primary data (research questionnaire) and secondary data (KIA book and medical record) in December 2016 until January 2017. Data analysis paired t-testand unpaired t-test. The results showed that there was an increase in knowledge, attitude, and behavior before and after treatment. There was a significant average difference between intervention groups dan control groups before and after intervention (p-value = 0,000 <0.05) in knowledge (p-value = 0,000, CI.95% 1,77- 1,04-2,5) attitude (p-value = 0,000, CI.95% 9,2-14,8), and behavior (p-value = 0,000, CI.95% 8,65-13,6). The conclusion in this research is empowerment of cadre using module have a significant effect to increase knowledge, attitude and behavior of pregnant woman nutrition.
Do Cognitive Factors Affect Experience Of Premarital Sexual Intercourse Among Unmarried Youth In Indonesia?
According to the 2010 Indonesia Population Census, 26.7% of Indonesia‘s population is aged 10 to 24. This large number clearly requires serious attention and treatment of all sectors responding to youth‘s issues. When young people have little information and knowledge about sexuality and reproductive health (SRH), they may not be able to protect themselves from risky behavior including premarital sexual intercourse. The negative impact may result in unwanted pregnancy and illegal abortions that endanger youth‘s lives. The objectives of the study are to investigate the relationship between cognitive factors (SRH knowledge and attitude toward woman‘s virginity) and premarital sexual intercourse among unmarried youth in Indonesia. The study employed secondary data of Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey 2012. A total of 10,861 unmarried men and 8,816 unmarried women aged 15 to 24 were selected for analysis. Premarital sexual intercourse is found to be more common among unmarried males (12.4%) compared to unmarried females (1.9%). SRH knowledge were significantly associated with premarital sexual intercourse among unmarried male, but conversely for unmarried female. Both unmarried male and female who agree that women should maintain virginity before marriage were less likely to have premarital sexual intercourse than who disagree. In addition, both unmarried male and unmarried female who agree that men still value women‘s virginity were less likely to have premarital sexual intercourse than those who disagree.The study indicates premarital sexual intercourse committed by unmarried youth in Indonesia is affected by cognitive factors. The findings suggest that SRH education should be provided formally in universities which focused on students aged 20 to 24.
Contribution Black Carbon (Bc) in Pm2.5 From Rice Straw Open Burning in District Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia
Field burning of rice straw, common practice in Cianjur, West Java, about 58 percents of farmers burning straw in the field after harvesting. Open burning in the paddy field is a common way to eliminate rice residues after harvesting. During rice harvesting seasons, open burning of rice residues in the field releases a large amount of Black Carbon (BC). It has potential effects on air quality, atmosphere and climate. The purpose of this study is to investigate the BC emitted in PM2.5 from rice straw field open burning in Districts Cugenang, Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. Samples of airborne particulate matter (PM2.5) from open burning of rice straw were collected at several locations in District Cugenang, from June through October 2015. The samples were collected using a minivol air sampler. Black carbon was analyzed using an EEL smoke stain reflectometer. The average of PM2.5 during the sampling period of open burning rice straw for eight varieties (Mekongga, Ciherang, Hibrida, Sarangue, Inul, Pandan wangi, Inpari and Cintanur) was 847.8, 501.9, 361.9, 891.3, 1099.3, 684.2, 264.7, and 517.3 microg/m3, respectively. The average of PM2.5 from chamber simulation for eight varieties was 842.01, 1248.7, 929.7, 1997.3, 916.3, 1176.1, 1641.8, 488.71 and 1156.45, respectively. The average of BC concentration for open burning was 44.85, 75.46, 83.09, 61.65, 68.66, 65.85, and 52.54 μg/m3, respectively. The average of BC concentration for chamber simulation for eight varieties was 139.4, 163.2, 141.5, 107.9, 132.3, 106.1, 137.2, 69.9, and 124.69 μg/m3, respectively. The ratio of the average BC concentration compared to the PM2.5 concentrations showed that BC comprises about 11.9 % of the fine particulate matter collected at all sites on field burning experiment and about 14.7 % for simulation in the chamber. Our results provide useful information for the development of local emission factors for Black Carbon from open burning of rice straw in Cianjur. And paved the way for a more accurate estimate of emissions that have an impact on climate in Indonesia
Home Health Nursing (HHN) as The Alternative Method to Reduce Pasung Cases in Indonesia: A Literature Review
Background: Pasung intervention is done by binding the feet of the client onto wood or with chain, constricting them from moving freely. They are jailed in a dark room afterwards and will remain in that room for the remainder of their life. This intervention is not good because it is against human rights and not based on psychiatric diagnoses; in other words, the client might not have mental illness but they are jailed regardless. Objective: To determine a good method to educate the society, prevent this action from recurring in the future, care for and rehabilitate the ones who really have mental illness, and advocate them to the government in order to reduce Pasung cases. Method: We searched for literatures about pasung, hospitalization, HHN, and its implementation on giving the intervention for mental illness clients and their family. After that, we analysed more than 20 literatures to assessed the result. Results: From the literature review, we found that both hospitalization and HHN have strengths and weaknesses for mental illness client treatment. Conclusion: HHN is better than hospitalization to treat mental illness client. By implementing HHN, we can deliver a holistic care approach: promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative for mental illness clients, families, and the society in general. Moreover, HHN enable nurses to advocate client‘s needs to the government in order to reduce pasung cases in Indonesia.
