Oil palm empty fruit bunches (Elaeis guineensis) are a product of the rest of the palm oil processing industry. It has a potential as biomass fuel in the form of granules because has a carbon content that can be burned. The Implementation of the study was to prove that the oil palm empty bunches can be processed into granules, knowing the characteristics of granules oil palm empty fruit bunches in the combustion process is optimized, and calculate the amount of energy (Cal / g) resulting from the burning of oil palm fruit bunches empty grain. The research method used follows steps such as collecting and elication, milling, granulation, and analysis of characteristics of granules such as moisture content, ash and volatile content, specific gravity, calorific value, and fixed carbon. The results showed that the oil palm empty fruit bunches can be formed into granules and have the best quality at a concentration of 5% to the characteristics of moisture content (45.13%), ash content (13.903%), volatile value (43.939%), density (0.886 g / cm3), the calorific value (4581.448 Cal /g),) and fixed carbon (13.563%). The ash and volatile value greatly affect the results of the calorific value

    Get PDF
In Thai classrooms, the learning process is dependent on the teachers who just relay them knowledge, thereby, critical thinking is not promoted nor encouraged. In medical related courses such as nursing, writing skills must be also given priority since it is a transactional skill which is useful in their future job. Task-based writing approach using reflection writing was integrated into the English for Careers subject among the second year nursing students of Vongchavalitkul University. It posited the following problems: 1) What are the problems encountered in completing the task; and 2) How to address the problems identified in the completed task? Reflective writing gives the students the freedom to analyze their situations and how to react to a given situation. After watching YouTube clips with Thai audio about HIV situation in Thailand, the students had this question to reflect on: As a Thai citizen and a nursing student, how can I help in the prevention of HIV-AIDS. The students were given a two -week period to write a minimum of 700 words reflection to be submitted in hard copy. The essays were graded using Rubric Scoring. Out of thirtyone participants, 80.65% or 23 students committed plagiarism while 19.35% or only eight students did not. Lack of lexical and syntactic skills hinder the students from writing passable English. Thus, writing must be given priority in ESP as well as in other English subjects to balance the speaking, listening and writing skills of the students

There has been a growing number of children with special needs lately with or without diagnose from professionals. According to the recent data, 1 out of 10 students is dyslexic, 1 in 59 children is autistic, and 6000 babies are born with down syndrome annually. The increasing prevalence is quite alarming while there is no adequate research and proper intervention to help the children grow functionally and live inclusively, particularly in Indonesia. The intervention and support given to these children are mostly in partial services, and share less connection one another. Psychologists, pediatricians, therapists, teachers, care-takers, policy-makers, and parents work in their own area and competencies without communicating or connecting to each other. These partial and disconnected services may be contradictory and far from proper intervention needed by the children. Moreover, the parents, teachers, and community have lack of sufficient information and support to raise these children and are let alone to seek help, and eventually feel helpless. In most cases, the children are stigmatized and are not treated equally in term of getting access to health and educational services. And many of them are let undiagnosed and improperly treated to grow more functionally. This research is aim at reviewing issues around special needs services, the challenges faced by parents, teachers, and professionals, as well as the responses to the problems that have been done to support the children. This research uses grounded-theory approach, and the data is generated from professionals (paediatrician and psychologist), parents, teachers, and therapist. The research is conducted in Jepara, Central Java, yet may use national and international data to compare. The findings suggest that albeit some efforts done by the government, professionals, parents, and special education practicioners, yet the efforts and results seem far from satisfaction. The collaboration, inclusive approach, and sustainable programs highly benefit to the future trajectory of the children which can help them to be more independent, adaptive, and functional

ASEAN which is filled by developing countries majorly, are vulnerable to crisis threats due to global economic sentiment. Therefore, the development of strong economic sectors is a necessity for countries in ASEAN. One of the most important economic sectors playing a major role in economic sustainability of developing countries is SMEs. Countries that had been hit by an economic crisis like Indonesia had proven the role of SMEs as the last weapon to end the crisis. The robust development of SMEs in ASEAN is a sign of a strong ASEAN economy realization. One of the hard challenges faced in the development of SMEs is the financial difficulties of business units. Financial aid which has only been dependent on government budget is one of the reasons for the sluggish evolvement of SMEs in the majority of developing countries in ASEAN. In this paper, we examine if financial assistance in terms of investment-based model performed by SMEs connected by clusters on B2B model could avoid financial constraint for the solution to the problem of SMEs financial difficulties. With this financial assistance model, there will be financial support between business units with a reciprocal relationship in a cluster. This method will encourage the growth of SME in productivity. The study shows the evidence of financial aid through investment-based indicates positive impact to strengthen the economy of ASEAN countries through SMEs. Therefore, our study recommends that investment-finance shaping has a good prospect for SMEs

Mathematical Communication is one of the required competencies of the learner in the needs of the real life, and in learning Mathematics, students always have the need to communicate with teacher and other students to solve problems in mathematics, as well as to present the solution or mathematical ideas to the others. However, there are many difficulties with many reasons when they exchange or communicate with the others by mathematical language in classroom. Therefore, the ability for communicating in Math is one of the required competencies of students. In this paper, we try to find out the obstacles which make students have difficulty when they are in mathematical communication while learning continuous functions.
