ON THE DOLICHOPODIDAE (DIPTERA: EMPIDOIDEA) FROM SERBIA
The data on Dolichopodidae from Serbia are reviewed. New records resulting from short-term visits to Serbia in 2014 and 2015 are presented. Of the 24 species collected, 14 are recorded for the first time for Serbia. The other known species are listed, and the number of reliably reported species from the country has reached 37 species belonging to 19 genera. AYLAX PAPAVERIS (PERRIS 1839) AND (BARBBARBOTINIA ORANIENSIS OTIN 1964): SPECIES NEW TO THE FAUNA OF CYNIPID GALL WASPS (HYMENOPTERA, CYNIPIDAE) OF SERBIA
Never recorded before in Serbia, the cynipid gall wasps Aylax papaveris (Perris 1839) and Barbotinia oraniensis (Barbotin 1964) were obtained from capsules of Papaver rhoeas Linnaeus 1753 collected toward the end of June 1998 at the locality Surduk (Srem, Serbia). Nine species of parasitoids were also obtained. Among them were the species Ormyrus capsalis Askew 1994 and Baryscapus papaveris Graham 1991, never before found in Serbia
FIRST REPORT OF DESERTOBIA ANKERARIA (STAUDINGER, 1861) (LEPIDOPTERA: GEOMETRIDAE) IN SERBIA
Desertobia ankeraria (Staudinger, 1861) is a Natura 2000 target species and it is included in Anex II of EEC 92/43 Habitat Directive. It is strictly protected species in Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary.It is recorded for the first time in Serbia in Pčinja river valley near Trgovište at locality Vražji Kamen. The species was attracted to the light trap on March 15th, 2016. D. ankeraria usually inhabits inhabits xerothermic oak woodlands and caterpillars are feeding on leaves of Downy Oak Quercus pubescens Wild. and Sessile Oak Q. petraea (Matt.) Liebl. Such habitat and Downy Oak were found at Vražji Kamen during our previous research in southern Serbia
SIDE EFFECTS OF TWO PLANT INSECTICIDES ON NATURAL ENEMIES OF INSECTS IN ALFALFA (MEDICAGO SATIVA L.) SEED PRODUCTION
During the period 2012-2014, in the experimental field of the Institute of Forage Crops, Pleven, Bulgaria, the side effect of neem and pyrethrum products on banded thrips, Aeolothrips ntermedius Bagnall (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) and the seven-spot ladybird Coccinella septempunctata L. (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) adults was defined. Treatments were carried out at the beginning of the flowering stage of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) in the second intercut. Sweeping with an entomological net was used to collect specimens. It was found that the biological insecticides NeemAzal and Pyrethrum were nontoxic with respect to Coccinella septempunctata adults, and in almost 70% of cases were harmless to Aeolothrips intermedius. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) regarding product toxicity on predatory species demonstrated that the factor B (type of insecticide) had the strongest effect – 89.1 and 82.5% of the total variance for C. septempunctata and A. intermedius, respectively. Tested plant insecticides showed no negative impact on the predatory species and they can be applied in organic seed production of alfalfa
ENSIGN WASPS OF SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO (HYMENOPTERA: EVANIOIDEA: EVANIIDAE)
This paper presents the first report on ensign wasp fauna in two central Balkan countries, Serbia and Montenegro. We established the presence of three species (out of five recorded in Europe): Brachygaster minutus, Prosevania fuscipes and Zeuxevania splendidula, the last based on an old literature report. An Analysis of Students’ Drawings for the Purpose of Considering the Efficiency of Teamwork (Programme Content: Marine Life Community)
In this paper, a comparison is made between the levels of efficiency achieved when applying team teaching vs. conventional expository teaching, in the framework of the teaching unit “Marine Life Community”, involving the students of the sixth grade of “Dvadeseti oktobar” elementary school in Belgrade. In order to accomplish the tasks of this paper, a model of a pedagogical experiment with parallel groups [experimental (E) and control (C)] was applied, involving 100 students.The aim was to identify and measure the differences and compare the efficiency of these two teaching approaches through an analysis of students’ drawings.Group E was presented the course content through teaching instruction, which included the presentation of an educational film, after which the students were shown printed photos. In group E the biology teacher presented the characteristics of sea-living communities, and the art teacher presented the distribution, different shapes and colours of marine organisms. Group C was presented the same content through traditional teaching methods: oral presentations, illustrations and demonstrations.The results of our research show that the students who participated in team teaching demonstrated better drawings according to the number and variety of marine organisms.The results of our study reflect the greater productivity of the students and the higher degree of motivation and activity.These results are based on the application of a great number of visual teaching technologies in the didactic model of team teaching
NEW DATA ON THE GENUS CALLICERA PANZER, 1806 (DIPTERA: SYRPHIDAE) FROM SERBIA
Only one species of the genus Callicera Panzer, 1806 - Callicera aenea (Fabricius, 1777) has been recorded in Serbia so far. The first documented records of the Callicera aurata (Rossi, 1790) and Callicera spinolae Rondani, 1844 are provided. Identification keys, material studied and distribution maps for each Serbian species are provided
BUTTERFLY FAUNA OF VICINITY OF JAGODINA (SERBIA) (LEPIDOPTERA: HESPERIOIDEA AND PAPILIONOIDEA)
Altogether, 89 butterfly species (Hesperioidea and Papilionoidea) were recorded between 1993-2014 as results of the fieldwork carried out at 19 localities in vicinity of Jagodina: Hesperiidae – 9 species, Papilionidae – 4, Pieridae – 14, Riodinidae – 1 , Lycaenidae – 22, Nymphalidae – 39. According to Red List status of European butterflies (Van Swaay et al., 2010) one species (Phangaris arionLinnaeus, 1758) is threatened (endangered) at the European level, and three species are considered as Near Threatened (Carcharodus flocciferusZeller, 1847, Zerynthia cerisyGodart, 1824 and Hipparchia fagiScopoli, 1763).Especially important are protected species at European level: Zerynthia polyxena (Denis & Schiffermuller, 1775), Lycaena dispar (Haworth, 1802) and Phengaris arion (Linnaeus, 1758). Also Glaucopsyche alexis (Poda, 1761) as target species for PBA of Serbia.According to scale for estimating the utility of potential Prime Butterfly Area (PBAs) (Jakšić, 2008), the Jagodina region with 89 species, of which four target species, estimated as extreme abundance and qualifies for potential PBAs
Water aloe weevil - Bagous binodulus (Herbst, 1795) (Coleoptera Curculionidae) in Serbia
Bagous binodulus (Herbst, 1795) was recorded in Serbia for the first time. Several specimens were collected in the Zasavica Special reserve near Sremska Mitrovica.
