    No full text
Global capital markets, including Islamic stock markets, are directly affected by the global uncertainty caused by the pandemic, high inflation, and economic turmoil in major countries. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of changes in three global Islamic stock indices: Dow Jones Islamic Market Malaysia Titans 25 Index (DJIMY25), Dow Jones Islamic Market Japan Index (DJIJP), and Dow Jones Islamic Market Europe Index (DJIEU) over the period 2020-2024. The relationship between short- and long-term variables is evaluated through a quantitative approach with monthly time series data. In addition, the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method is also used. The results show that DJIMY25 has a significant influence on ISSI in both the short and long term, while DJIJP has a significant influence only in the short term. DJIEU, on the other hand, has no significant influence. Compared to other global indices, the influence of regional indices especially Malaysia on the ISSI is greater. This study not only provides theoretical contributions to the field of Islamic finance, but also provides practical advice for investors, regulators, and Islamic capital market players in Indonesia

The rapid advancement of technology and the widespread use of social media have introduced new challenges for parents in guiding their children's moral development. This study explores the patterns of parental guidance in shaping children's morality within the context of social media use and examines its impact on their moral growth. Employing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, the research was conducted with parents residing in Citeureup Village, North Cimahi District. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and then analyzed using data reduction, validation, and conclusion-drawing techniques. The findings reveal three primary patterns of parental guidance: preventive, persuasive, and collaborative. These strategies are actively utilized by parents to nurture their children's moral awareness in the digital age. The study concludes that parental presence and active engagement play a crucial role in children's moral development—particularly in shaping ethical behavior, social interaction, and a sense of responsibility—ultimately fostering more thoughtful and responsible digital citizens. This research offers valuable insights for parents, educators, and policymakers in developing effective strategies to support moral and character education in the digital era

The Customary Settlement of Khalwat Offenses in Seumadam Village, Aceh Tamiang: An Analysis of Qanun No. 6 of 2014 on Jinayah

    No full text
This study examines the application of customary law in the settlement of khalwat offenses in Seumadam Village, Aceh Tamiang District, and assesses its compatibility with Qanun Aceh Number 6 of 2014 on Jinayah Law. The research uses a juridical-empirical approach with a case study method, through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the settlement of khalwat offenses is carried out through customary mechanisms involving deliberation and dialogue among the parties involved. Sanctions imposed typically include compensation, a public apology, or other forms of punishment in line with local customary values. If a resolution is not reached, the case may be referred to the Sharia Court for formal legal processing. Qanun Number 6 of 2014 provides more stringent sanctions such as whipping, fines, or imprisonment. However, this qanun also recognizes the role of customary law as outlined in Qanun Aceh Number 9 of 2008 on the Development of Customary Life and Traditions. Although the customary settlement mechanism aligns with the spirit of the qanun, which emphasizes peaceful resolution, its implementation is considered weak in providing a deterrent effect. This opens the potential for abuse as a means of "cheap marriage," harms women, and creates social injustice

    Get PDF
Ideally, every individual holds a balanced responsibility toward their rights and legal freedoms, as guided by Islamic Fiqh and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). However, in reality, imbalances between the exercise of rights and responsibilities often occur, both in social and legal contexts. This study aims to analyze the concept of individual responsibility toward rights and legal freedoms from the perspectives of Islamic Fiqh and the UDHR, as well as to identify the common ground between these two perspectives. This article falls under normative research with a qualitative approach, utilizing analysis of relevant primary and secondary literature. The findings reveal that both Islamic Fiqh and the UDHR emphasize a balance between rights and responsibilities, although differences exist in principles and contexts of application. These findings underscore the importance of harmonizing Islamic legal principles and universal norms to achieve social justice

Legal Protection for Creditors in Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU): A Critique of the Implementation of Law Number 37 of 2004 on Bankruptcy

    Get PDF
Ideally, the process of Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU) within the Indonesian legal system functions as a fair mechanism to protect the rights of creditors while providing debtors with an opportunity to settle their debts without undergoing bankruptcy. However, in reality, the implementation of the PKPU mechanism often results in an imbalance of power between creditors and debtors, thereby posing serious challenges to the legal protection of creditors. This article aims to critically examine the effectiveness of legal protection for creditors in the PKPU process and to evaluate the implementation of Law Number 37 of 2004 on Bankruptcy and Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations in ensuring legal certainty and justice. This research is categorized as a literature-based study using a qualitative approach, and the methodology employed is normative legal research. The findings conclude that legal protection for creditors in the PKPU process remains suboptimal, as indicated by the weak bargaining position of creditors in PKPU forums, the lack of objective standards for assessing the feasibility of peace plans, and ineffective oversight of court decision enforcement. The implementation of Law Number 37 of 2004 is deemed unresponsive to the dynamics of the modern economy, as it still suffers from normative gaps and institutional weaknesses that lead to legal uncertainty and significant potential losses for creditors

Tradition of arranged marriage among Bugis girls in Mendahara Ulu

    No full text
The practice of arranged marriage involving young girls in the Bugis community of Mendahara Ulu reflects a complex intersection between cultural authority and religious values. This study explores the mechanisms of power embedded in Bugis arranged marriage traditions by applying Michel Foucault’s theory of power relations in conjunction with Islamic ethical principles. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research involved Bugis women who had experienced arranged marriages. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and a literature review, then analyzed using critical discourse analysis. The findings reveal that arranged marriage functions not solely as a cultural norm but as a contested arena of power among parents, customary practices, and the women themselves. Key Islamic principles—such as gender justice and mutual consent—are often marginalized or narrowly interpreted. The study argues for a more integrative approach that harmonizes local customs with Islamic values to promote women’s rights and agency. This research offers a nuanced perspective on how cultural and religious discourses shape the practice of arranged marriage in contemporary Muslim contexts
