The Qur’an on Social Media: Questioning Authenticity and Negotiating the Authority of Interpretation

    Get PDF
This paper examines the intersection between digital media and religion, particularly in the context of interpreting the Qur'an on the social media platform Instagram. The phenomenon of disseminating interpretations through the @quranreview account is the main focus, where verses of the Qur'an are contextually linked to current issues that are currently viral in society. Amid the complexity of the Qur'anic hermeneutics that demands certain authority and methodological tools, the presence of this digital interpretation raises questions about the validity and authority of interpretation in the virtual public space. Using qualitative methods and a virtual ethnographic approach, and supported by literature studies, this study found that @quranreview applies the mawdhu'i interpretation approach in presenting the meaning of the Qur'an. In addition, this account adopts a popular culture strategy—through simple, motivational, and easily accessible language—to reach young audiences in the digital era. This finding confirms that social media is not only a means of distributing religious messages, but also a new arena for forming religious authority and more inclusive and adaptive religious practices

Sleep Paradigm in the Qur'an Comparison of An-Nur's Tafsir and Fathul Qodir's Tafsir

    Get PDF
This research aims to examine the paradigm of sleep in the Qur'an through a comparative method (tafsir muqorain) between Tafsir An-Nur by Hasby Ash-Siddiqye and Tafsir Fathul Qodir by Imam Asy-Syaukani. The focus of this research is to analyze the concept of sleep from several key verses, namely: QS. An- Naba’ : 9, QS. Az- Zumar : 42, QS. Al – Isra’ : 79. This study is very important because sleep is not just a biological phenomenon, but also has spiritual significance in Islam, where the Qur'an views sleep as a sign of God's power, a form of mercy, and a time for worship. The method used is muqorain interpretation, comparing the interpretations of both mufassir regarding the verses that discuss sleep. This approach allows researchers to explore the tendencies of both interpreters by comparing their backgrounds, scholarly expertise, and other factors. The research results show a difference in the approach of the two mufassir, where Hasby tends to prioritize a contextual modernist approach, while Asy-Syaukani emphasizes a classical textual approach. Both approaches contribute to enriching the understanding of the concept of sleep in Islam, both from physiological and spiritual aspects. The conclusion of this research emphasizes that the muqorain method is not only relevant for understanding the diversity of interpretations but also beneficial in building critical awareness of various perspectives. Through the comparison of interpretations, this research presents a more holistic understanding of the concept of sleep in the Qur'an, making it applicable in the context of modern life

    Get PDF
This study examines the implementation of Good Governance principles in improving public services at the Department of Population and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil) of Ciamis Regency from the perspective of Siyasah Dusturiyah. The purpose of this research is to analyze how principles such as transparency, accountability, participation, professionalism, and efficiency are applied in civil administrative services and how Islamic values in governance strengthen these efforts. A qualitative descriptive approach was used with juridical-empirical and normative methods, supported by primary data through field observation and interviews. The findings show that while Disdukcapil Ciamis has initiated service innovations such as the SILANCAR system and the “Jempol Si Manis” outreach program, challenges remain due to limited human resources, infrastructure, and shortages of e-ID card blanks. In the Siyasah Dusturiyah framework, public service is considered a trust (amanah) that must be carried out fairly, transparently, and responsibly. Therefore, institutional capacity building, digital technology adoption, and internalizing Islamic values are strategic steps to achieve good and competitive governance

The Creation of Man in Tafsir Al-Jawahir by Thanthawi Jawhar

    Get PDF
This research examines the concept of human creation according to Tafsir Al-Jawahir by Tantawi Jawhari, a commentary that combines interpretation of the Al-Qur'an with a scientific approach. This tafsir highlights how the Qur'an explains the creation of humans through several stages, starting from the earth to becoming perfect creatures. The process of human creation includes the phases of germfah (semen), alaqah (a clot of blood), mudghah (a clot of flesh), bone formation, and the impregnation of the spirit that brings human life. Tantawi uses the "tahlili" exegetical method, which emphasizes in-depth and comprehensive explanations of the meaning of Al-Qur'an verses, and links them to modern science such as biology and embryology. This research also shows that Tantawi includes elements of science in his interpretations, such as images of plants, animals and natural phenomena, to strengthen the reader's understanding of the process of human creation.Through this approach, Tantawi wants to show that there is no conflict between the Koran and science, in fact the Koran precedes science in explaining many natural phenomena. This study employed a qualitative method with a literature review approach, with the primary data sources being the Tafsir Al-Jawahir and other secondary sources. The results revealed that Tantawi successfully connected the concept of human creation in the Qur'an with modern scientific theories, ultimately demonstrating God's greatness and power in the creation of living things

Islamic Educational Leadership In Prophetic Perspective

    Get PDF
Leadership plays a crucial role in running an institution, be it an educational institution, social organization, or government agency. An effective leader is not only able to direct the vision and mission of the institution, but can also inspire and motivate team members to work together to achieve common goals. The inability of a leader to carry out his duties can have fatal consequences, which at one time can determine the success or failure of the institution as a whole. Therefore, an effective, fast, and responsive leader is needed to maximize the performance of an institution. Understanding Islamic educational leadership from a prophetic perspective is urgent in the midst of these challenges. Emulating the Prophet Muhammad SAW allows us to explore holistic and sustainable solutions. The prophetic perspective provides a strong moral foundation and a leadership model that has proven effective in overcoming human problems. Therefore, this study has practical relevance in answering the challenges of contemporary Islamic education. This paper will discuss the characteristics of prophetic leadership, with the hope of providing better insight into leading educational institutions today
