Nowadays, both loneliness and depression are two factors that in separate have a big negative and relevant impact on the health of older adults, and are strongly connected to each other. Together, they form a retroalimentation relationship, which ends up causing a progressive deterioration and that way we can alleviate it. From Primary Care, a detection and an early approach can be achieved through specific nursing interventions, with the purpose of improving the health and quality life in the elderly people. Main objective: To study the effectiveness of nursing interventions to prevent or mitigate loneliness and/or depression nolder adults in Sant Feliu de Guíxols Primary Care Center. Methodology: Quasi experimental study with a pre-post dessign, which lasts a term in Primary Care Center (CAP) Sant Feliu de Guíxols, located in Baix Empordà (Girona). The study population will be the people with an age equal or superior to 65 years old in this CAP, which are in risk of loneliness and/or depression, with a non-probabilistic and convenience sampling. Sociodemographic variables and related with the loneliness and mental health are going to be studied. Data will be collected using three questionnaires: the first one will be of demographic data ad hoc, another one to evaluate the risk factors of loneliness and lastly, to identify the depression risk factors. Afterwards, two validated scales will be used: the Loneliness Scale UCLA-3, to messure the degree of loneliness and the inventory of Depression of Beck (BI-II), to evaluate depression. In relation to ethical considerations, this project will be presented to Clinical Research Ethics Committe of Institut Universitari d’Investigació en Atenció Primària (IDIAP) Jordi Gol, in order to receive an approval. Then, it will be presented to the managment of the Primary Care Team of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, in order to receive their approval. Participation will be voluntary and anonymous and each participating will have to sign an informed consent. The anonymity and confientiality of their data will be guaranteed. The data will be studied and analyzed through the statistic program Statistical Package for the Social Science, 25.0 version (IBM)31

Digital technology adoption in European manufacturing: pathways to innovation and sustainability through AI and big data

    No full text
ENG- This thesis investigates the adoption of digital technologies, specifically artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, within European manufacturing firms, highlighting the interplay between innovation, technological integration, and sustainability. In an era characterized by rapid technological advancement, firms are compelled to integrate digital solutions to remain competitive while addressing evolving sustainability demands. However, the process is often hindered by multiple factors, making it crucial to understand the complexities that drive or obstruct digital technology adoption Drawing on empirical data from a large-scale international survey, the study identifies key enablers—such as R&D cooperation, digital infrastructure, and sustainability practices—and barriers, including resource constraints and perceived usefulness, ecosystem and data management that influence digital technology adoption. The research offers a nuanced understanding of these adoption dynamics, emphasizing that technology adoption is not merely a technical endeavour but deeply influenced by organizational capacities, strategic alignment, and environmental challenges. In addition, the findings suggest that sustainability practices play a pivotal role not only in driving innovation but also in fostering AI and big data integration, creating a reciprocal relationship where digital technologies enhance sustainability performance while sustainability accelerates technological adoption. This dual role of sustainability expands the understanding of its influence on firms’ dynamic capabilities, pushing beyond its traditionally understood impact on environmental goals. By extending multiple theoretical frameworks and offering practical insights, this research contributes to the growing discourse on digital transformation in manufacturing. It not only emphasizes the necessity of integrating sustainability into digital strategies but also advocates for a forward-thinking, cumulative approach to AI and big data adoption.

Can communities facilitate youth empowerment? A systematic analysis

    No full text
Youth empowerment (YE) receives preferential attention in socio-educational practice and research due to the need to understand the processes that enable young people to empower themselves. Improving YE requires creating the right conditions and contexts for opportunities while ensuring equality and equity. The context and community in which youth empowerment takes place play a key role. However, academic literature has not systematically analyzed the relationship between YE and community. This article conducts a systematic literature review from 2012-2022 to examine the conceptual and methodological connections between youth empowerment and community. It identifies a diversity of concepts and practices highlighting youth participation and leadership. Six pedagogical principles for facilitating youth empowerment in community contexts are inferred. Empowerment processes between a community and its youth tend to be two-way. Finally, there is a need for further research on youth empowerment processes in community settingsThis work was supported by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación y la Agencia Estatal de Investigación del Gobierno de España under Grant Ref. GNNetSlice: A GNN-based performance model to support network slicing in B5G networks

    No full text
Network slicing is gaining traction in Fifth Generation (5G) deployments and Beyond 5G (B5G) designs. In a nutshell, network slicing virtualizes a single physical network into multiple virtual networks or slices, so that each slice provides a desired network performance to the set of traffic flows (source-destination pairs) mapped to it. The network performance, defined by specific Quality of Service (QoS) parameters (latency, jitter and losses), is tailored to different use cases, such as manufacturing, automotive or smart cities. A network controller determines whether a new slice request can be safely granted without degrading the performance of existing slices, and therefore fast and accurate models are needed to efficiently allocate network resources to slices. Although there is a large body of work of network slicing modeling and resource allocation in the Radio Access Network (RAN), there are few works that deal with the implementation and modeling of network slicing in the core and transport network. In this paper, we present GNNetSlice, a model that predicts the performance of a given configuration of network slices and traffic requirements in the core and transport network. The model is built leveraging Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), a kind of Neural Network specifically designed to deal with data structured as graphs. We have chosen a data-driven approach instead of classical modeling techniques, such as Queuing Theory or packet-level simulations due to their balance between prediction speed and accuracy. We detail the structure of GNNetSlice, the dataset used for training, and show how our model can accurately predict the delay, jitter and losses of a wide range of scenarios, achieving a Symmetric Mean Average Percentage Error (SMAPE) of 5.22%, 1.95% and 2.04%, respectivel

Raciocínio indutivo no direito tributário: Inferência e suficiência probatória

    No full text
This article aims to analyze inductive reasoning and its application to resolve factual issues in tax matters. To this end, three types of induction are presented (generalization, causal and analogical), as well as their uses (in Tax Law and outside of it) and their strength (including their limitations). The article concludes that the quality of the evidentiary judgment is influenced by two variables. On the one hand, by meeting the criteria regarding the formation and evaluation of evidence that serve as a basis for the sentence, such as the magnitude, variety and representativeness of the evidence. On the other hand, by the standard of proof applicable to the case: the stricter the degree of sufficiency required for certain hypotheses to be considered proven, the stronger must be the degree of inferential securityEste artigo tem o objetivo de analisar o raciocínio indutivo e a sua aplicação para a resolu-ção de questões fáticas em matéria tributária.

    No full text
Background/Objectives: We aim to assess the effect of the Espaijove.net mental health literacy program on adolescents' quality of life (QOL). Additionally, we aim to describe their QOL and mental well-being. Methods: A multicenter, randomized, controlled trial was conducted, with pre- and post-intervention assessments and 6- and 12-month follow-ups. A total of 1032 students aged 13-14 from 18 schools in Barcelona participated in one of the three following mental health literacy (MHL) programs or were placed in a control group (CG): (1) a 1 h awareness session (G1h); (2) a 6 h MHL program (G6h); (3) a 7 h MHL program with stigma reduction (G7h). Measures: (1) Mental well-being: Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ); (2) QOL: EuroQol 5D-5L with its two parts: the EuroQol 5D-5L Index (0-1) and EuroQol 5D-5L visual analog scale (EQ-VAS) (0-100). Analyses were conducted on an intention-to-treat basis, using data imputation methods for missing data. Intervention effects were assessed using multilevel models. Results: Baseline EQ-VAS and EQ-5D-5L index scores were 77.84 (CI = 76.77-78.91) and 0.91 (CI = 0.90-0.92), respectively. Boys reported higher QOL and SDQ scores (p < 0.001), whereas participants of foreign nationality showed lower scores in QOL (EQ-VAS; p = 0.039) and mental well-being (p < 0.001). Post-intervention, all groups (intervention and control), except G6h, showed QOL improvements. However, in the 6-month follow-up, the CG outperformed the other groups. At 12 months, G7h achieved the highest EQ-VAS scores compared to the other groups. Conclusions: MHL-based interventions improved short-term QOL but failed to sustain these improvements over time. Groups with lower QOL and SDQ scores included girls and adolescents of foreign nationalit
