Expression of Love for Ahl Al-Bayt in Acehnese Society
Theologically, the Acehnese ordain themselves as loyal followers of Sunni Islam, but there are Shi’a elements in their culture. To date, there are some traditions of expressing love for the Ahl al-Bayt (Prophet Muhammad’s family) which is one of the main characteristics of the Shi'a. This research is based on the hypothesis that several cultural practices in Aceh contain Shi’a elements. This study seeks to reveal the cultural practices of the Sunni followers in Aceh in expressing their love for the Ahl al-Bayt. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method from a combination of library and field data. This study found that, historically, the acculturation process of Shi'a culture into the Sunni followers in Aceh has coincided with the process of the arrival of Islam in the Indonesian Archipelago. This is possible given the position of Aceh in the history of Islamization in the Indonesian Archipelago. This acculturation has left traces of culture inspired by Shi’a such as the tradition of Ashura porridge, Boh Husayn cake. All these traditions have been preserved because these Shi'a values contain expressions of love for the Ahl al-Bayt who also have a place in the hearts of the Sunni adherents in Aceh

Imām Al-Ghazālī Thoughts on Islamic Politics: A Study of The Values of Islamic Education
This article discusses Imām Al-Ghazālī’s thoughts regarding politics in Islam, the socio-political conditions behind it, and the values of Islamic education contained in it. This discourse is urgent because seeing the political phenomenon in Indonesia is very worrying after the collapse of the authoritarianism regime during the Old Order era. This paper uses a type of literature research using some of the works of Imām Al-Ghazālī as the primary source. The socio-political conditions underlying the beginning of Imām Al-Ghazālī’s writings related to Islamic politics were the weak understanding of society’s religion and disintegration in the political field of Muslims at that time. From some of his works, there are four themes studied by Imām Al-Ghazālī regarding politics in Islam, namely amar ma’rūf nahī munkar in politics, the origin of the emergence of a nation, theories about state leadership, sources of power and authority of the head of state. As for the values of Islamic education contained in Imām Al-Ghazālī’s thoughts regarding politics in Islam, namely amar ma’rūf nahī munkar, power comes from God, the authority of leaders in matters of the world and the hereafter, mutualism between the people and leaders, mature, intelligent, free, male, a descendant of Quraish, healthy hearing or vision, real power, guidance, knowledge, and being careful in doing things. The fourteen values of Islamic education above include the spiritual dimension, the cultural dimension, and the intelligence dimension
False Consciousness: The Cultural Identity Construction of Cele And Batik Within Moluccan Scholars in Ambon
Identity is a social construction. The Moluccan people are evident of this structure, especially regarding the policy of the obligation to wear cele (Moluccan traditional garment). This has become a process of identity construction involving culture and ethnicity for Moluccans. This paper discusses how Moluccan scholars who studied in Java understand their position wearing cele in the local context in Maluku. In addition, this paper also discusses the scholars’ views on how the process of identity negotiation between localism and nationalism is represented through cele and batik. Information for this study was gathered using a qualitative method with a cultural studies approach. The data were collected using several techniques including interviews, observation, and literature studies to answer research questions and problems. This paper shows that in response to the Moluccan government policy which requires the people to wear cele once a week, most scholars prefer to wear batik instead. One justification is related to cultural and religious aspects, noting cele is more familiar and originates from within the Christian community, while the Islamic community does not recognize cele in their culture. They consider that such policy leads to the construction of cultural identity based on false consciousness
