    Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Inkuiri Terbimbing terhadap Keterampilan Berpikir Komputasional pada Pembelajaran IPA Siswa SMP

    This study aims to examine the effect of using a guided inquiry learning model on the computational thinking skills of junior high school students in science learning. The research was conducted with a quantitative approach through quasi-experimental research design. The subjects studied were students of SMP N 7 Jember, each consisting of 36 students including class VII B as a control class (applying a direct learning model) and VII F as an experimental class (applying a guided inquiry learning model). Data collection was carried out through the provision of computational thinking skills tests as many as 7 essay questions. Problems are developed based on indicators of computational thinking skills (decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms). The results of the independent sample t-test of the control class and experimental class obtained a value of Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 smaller than the significance level of 0.05. Based on the test criteria Independent sample t-test, it can be concluded that there is a significant comparison between pretest and posttest values in the control class and experimental class. Next, the right-party t-test was carried out with the results of a calculated value of 22.210 greater than ttable 1.996 with a significance level of 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the average scores of students' computational thinking skills in the control class and the experimental class. This shows that learning using a guided inquiry model is effective in improving the computational thinking skills of junior high school students in science learning

    Integration of technology in education, particularly through platforms like English Discoveries, has transformed language learning practices at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya. English Discoveries provides a multimedia-based English learning platform that supports the development of comprehensive language skills. This study aim to describe teachers' perspectives on the English Discoveries platform, identify the types of challenges teachers face in implementing the English Discoveries platform, and find out the solutions provided by teachers in overcoming challenges in implementing digital literacy on the English Discoveries platform. This mix method study explores the perspectives of 7 teachers implementing the English Discoveries platform as learning media. Through questionnaires and interviews as the instruments of this study, teachers' experiences and opinions were collected, revealing insights into their perceptions of platform usability, impact on student engagement, and improvement of English language skills. Findings of this research highlight that teachers at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya have a positive perspective on the English Discoveries platform, with many supporting its use in the learning process because of the convenience it offers, such as online presence and digital checking of assignments. Nonetheless, they faced several challenges in implementing this platform, including sudden logout issues, the need for a very stable internet connection, and excessive feature complexity. To overcome these challenges, the teachers suggested the need for better support from platform managers, feature simplification, and a reliable data backup system to maintain data security and continuity, as well as ensure the platform supports various devices well. In summary, English Discoveries enhances learning, engages students, and improves teaching efficiency despite technical challenges

    Traditional attendance systems often encounter challenges in efficiently and accurately recording attendance. This research aims to introduce an innovative solution through the development of an intelligent anti-spoofing attendance system based on facial recognition using the Haar Cascade Classifier method. Designed to overcome the inefficiencies in attendance recording, this system ensures the accuracy of educational staff attendance records. Its development method relies on the Haar Cascade Classifier, employing image processing to detect learned object features, particularly focusing on facial recognition. Research findings indicate that the implementation of this system achieves an average accuracy rate of 98.90% in attendance recording. The facial recognition technology ensures reliable attendance recording with confidence levels exceeding 80%, signifying precise facial identification that addresses various challenges and ensures attendance data integrity. Not only does the system identify educational staff with high accuracy, but it also provides prompt responses for efficient attendance logging and verification. Beyond its technical benefits, this study significantly contributes to the development of smarter and more efficient attendance technology. The system plays a crucial role in enhancing the discipline of educational staff at STMIK IKMI Cirebon and streamlining attendance management and evaluation across educational institutions

    Implementation Process of Research Based Learning (RBL) for Doctoral Education Program Students: An Exploratory Case Study

    Research-based learning (RBL) is a learning model that involves research activities in the learning process. The higher education system cannot separate from learning and research activities. This study aims to present a case study that explores the learning experiences of 5 students of the doctoral education program and how their research skills differ before and after implementing RBL in a local-based science learning development course. Collecting data methods are interviews, learning notes, product assessments, and questionnaires. Data analysis consisted of examining, categorizing, and recombining the quantitative and qualitative evidence to discuss the research's initial propositions. Research results show that the ability of doctoral program students applied knowledge in practical contexts, research skills, critical and analytical thinking, scientific communication skills could be improved through research-based learning

    Development of Mathematics Teaching Materials for Junior High School Based on Etnomathematics

    In the world of education is required to be able to equip students with 21st century skills in order to achieve learning goals and be able to compete. One important component that supports learning activities is through teaching materials. Teaching materials will be meaningful if they are related to real life contexts and take advantage of local potentials that exist in the surrounding environment. This study aims to develop ethnomathematics-based mathematics teaching materials for junior high school students. This research was a research development. The research stages used refer to the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Based on the needs analysis of teaching materials that has been carried out in the first year of research, students need ethnomathematical-based teaching materials. The type of development research used in this research was intended to produce mathematics teaching materials, in the form of e-modules, based on ethnomathematics for junior high school students, especially on the material of flat-sided geometry. Data collection techniques used validation sheets, questionnaires, and test instruments. Data analysis in this study was carried out with the aim of getting an overview of the e-modules of good quality, namely meeting the aspects of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The results of data analysis showed that based on the aspect of validity, the module was included in the very valid category, based on the student response questionnaire the module was practical and the posttest results showed that learning with the module was effective

    Teaching science requires specific competencies that trained teachers in their previous education level. Teachers' educational backgrounds influence the implementation of science learning. Besides, the teaching experience is also an essential factor in determining the quality of science learning. This study aimed to identify how science teachers' educational background influences their way of teaching science. The data was obtained by observing three science teachers from Biology Education, Physics Education, and Biology when teaching the topics of Vibration and Excretory systems. The video recordings were then analyzed by using qualitative analysis software. The result showed that teachers from Biology Education backgrounds taught the Vibration topic exceeded the science teacher who had Physics Education degrees. According to teaching period and professional development program records, the teacher who had been teaching for 35 years outperformed the other two teachers. Therefore, science teachers are recommended to increase their participation in teacher training to improve science teaching skills
