Development of a video encryption algorithm for critical areas 2D extended Schaffer function and neural networks

    No full text
This paper proposes an encryption algorithm for crucial areas of a video based on chaos and a neural network, which SVEA (Selective Video Encryption Algorithm). The critical areas of each frame in a video are extracted by deep learning to the encryption system. A one-step encryption algorithm is used to encrypt these critical areas based on chaos, where scrambling and diffusion are simultaneously performed. A new chaotic system 2D extended Schaffer function map (2DESFM) is utilized in the encryption system, inspired by the Schaffer function. The system has demonstrated excellent performance through Lyapunov exponents (LEs), permutation entropy (PE), the 0-1 test, and other methods. Additionally, to resist chosen plaintext attacks, the secret key is generated by a neural network, with the critical areas of the video as inputs to the neural network. The chaotic system generates the biases and weights for the neural network. We evaluate SVEA on our dataset (Gymnastics at the Olympic Games) and public datasets. SVEA exhibits strong security characteristics compared to state-of-the-art algorithms and reduces time complexity by approximately 51.3%.National Natural Science Foundation of China [61672190]; China Scholarship Council (CSC) [CSC202306120290]; Sub-project of National Key Research and Development Program of China [2023YFC3305003]Acknowledgements This research is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No: 61672190) ; China Scholarship Council (CSC) , No. CSC202306120290; the Sub-project of National Key Research and Development Program of China (NO. 2023YFC3305003)

Impact characteristics of S2-glass fibre/FM94-epoxy composites under high and cryogenic temperatures: Experimental and numerical investigation

    No full text
The aerospace industry uses glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites to manufacture structural and non-structural parts of an aircraft as they possess superior strength to weight ratio and exceptional corrosion resistance. Commercial aircraft operate in a very wide temperature ranges from ?54 to 55 °C. Potential GFRP laminates are susceptible to impact during aircraft operation, and the temperature at impact governs the nature of damage and failure mechanisms. As a result, the current study focuses on examining how aeronautical GFRP composites behave in various temperature environments that are encountered during high- and low-altitude operations. Using S2-glass fibre/FM94-epoxy unidirectional prepreg, GFRP plates were created. Drop weight impact tests were conducted at ambient (25 °C), high (50, 75, 100 °C), and low (?25, ?55 °C) temperatures, as well as at various impact energies (75, 150, 225 J). The damages were assessed visually, along with their sizes. Each testing scenario's impact parameters, including the impact load, deflection, and energy absorption, were also examined. In Abaqus/Explicit, a coupled temperature-displacement numerical model was created to predict the onset of stress and damage. According to experimental findings, GFRP plates are stiffer and show less apparent damage at cryogenic temperatures (?15?34 % lower displacement) than they do at other temperatures. Furthermore, it was observed that the matrix softens at high temperatures, showing larger damaged area at entry but with less obvious damage and increasing energy absorption, while semi-perforation occurred under cryogenic temperatures at entry with smaller damaged area. A strong correlation is shown between the experimental and FE data, confirming the capability of FE models to predict impact damage and deflections at different temperatures in the future. © 2024 The AuthorsCardiff School of Engineerin

The theoretical background of the distinction between kalām and aqā'id

The place of the science of kalām in religious sciences is an old debate. Its universality has been debated among philosophers and theologians. Al-Fārābī defined kalām as a science that repels the objections against the orders and prohibitions, the boundaries of which are determined by the shāri‘ (law maker). al-Ghazālī, on the other hand, introduced kalām in al-Munkidh as a science with the aim of preserving the aqīdah (creed) of Ahl al-Sunnah as is and preventing bid‘ah (innovation) to muddle it (aqīdah) up. However, in al-Mustasfā, he claimed that kalām is a universal science that examines the existence. This difference in his thoughts may be due to the nature of these works or because of the the confusion about the nature of ‘ilm (science). However, it can be said that this confusion has been relatively resolved in the late period. Because in the late period, it has been accepted that the subject is “ma‘lūm (the known) in terms of being related to creeds. Since kalām examines everything that falls within the scope of ma‘lūm in order to establish a correct creed. At the center of these discussions is the question of whether kalām is a science of an argumentative instrument or really a universal and truth-seeking science. With this aspect, the discussions make the proven aqīdah a matter of discussion. Therefore, the reduction of kalām to aqā’id opens its proving function to discussion. On the other side of the discussions about the nature of kalām, there is the problem of its relation to aqā’id. As a matter of fact, whether kalām is aqā’id or a science that defends it will be fully understood by clarifying its relationship with aqā’id. Moreover, there are problems worthy of investigation on this side of the issue as well. For example, it should be clarified why there are two separate sciences with the same meaning. In addition, if they are separate, problems such as what determines their boundaries and what their commonalities are essential questions to be asked for the relationship between the two disciplines. With the partial or complete resolution of these problems, the relationship between the two disciplines will appear. In this article, the common and different points of the science of kalām and aqā’id in terms of principle, subject, problem, purpose and method are examined

High-resolution climate simulations over the eastern mediterranean black sea region using the pseudo-global warming method with a cmip6 ensemble

    Get PDF
The strong drying expected in the Eastern Mediterranean with climate change could cause mass migration of people already living under water shortages. On the other hand, precipitation is expected to increase toward the region's north, particularly those along the interior of the eastern Black Sea coasts, which could worsen existing floods. However, this double-sided adverse phenomenon and its underlying reasons have been investigated by relatively low-resolution models in the Eastern Mediterranean Black Sea (EMBS) region, where orographic precipitation prevails. This study performs 4 km resolution Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model simulations with and without climate change signals retrieved from a CMIP6 GCM ensemble via pseudo-global-warming (PGW). The WRF simulations captured the large-scale dynamics affecting the EMBS fairly well: an anticyclonic low-level circulation and enhancing subsidence stem from anomalous ridge development over the central Mediterranean in winter (DJF), and a cyclonic low-level circulation and weakening subsidence rise from heat-low development over the Eastern Mediterranean in summer (JJA). The resulting picture of future warming and drying over the area generally supports the literature, although new insights emerge in anomalous precipitation increase, especially in the summer season over the Greater Caucasus and nearby regions. Most likely, the warmer-than-expected Caspian Sea induces a large increase in specific humidity and, thus, a large moisture source in the lower troposphere and an extension of the heat-low effect in the mid-troposphere. In addition, the high-resolution WRF simulations provide added value over the complex topography of the Caucasian Mountain range for new insights into this region. One of the most vulnerable parts of the Mediterranean climate change hotspot is the Eastern Mediterranean Black Sea (EMBS) region. The future climate change signal of the state-of-the-art CMIP6 GCM ensemble between 2071-2100 and 1985-2014 periods was retrieved for the region under the Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP5-8.5). The signal was used to perturb ERA5 reanalysis data for the IPCC AR6 baseline period, 1995-2014, in the context of the pseudo-global warming (PGW) method. The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model was used to obtain very high-resolution (4 km) climate data. According to the study, the future winters were as expected: anomalous ridge formation over southern Italy, resultant northeasterlies over the EMBS, the large-scale mid- and upper tropospheric subsidence, attenuation of the land-sea temperature contrast and finally, strong drying. The summers exhibit negative vertical pressure velocity changes, strengthening Etesians, and strong surface warming in line with the expectations of the literature. However, summers brought anomalous precipitation to the Greater Caucasus and nearby areas in our high-resolution WRF simulations. We think these new insights are primarily caused by the warmer-than-expected Caspian Sea stemming from the SST availability among the ensemble, a very convective environment for the region and better-resolved complex-orography-induced precipitation. The WRF-PGW simulations perfectly capture the low-level circulation change and warming/drying signals from CMIP6 for the EMBS in winter The WRF-PGW simulations show heat-low formation over the EMBS in summer, in line with the CMIP6 GCM ensemble The new insights appear in future summer precipitation increases over the Greater Caucasus and nearby regionsEURO-CC project; World Climate Research ProgrammeWe would like to give special thanks to the Turkish High Performance and Grid Computing Center (TUEB & Idot;TAK ULAKB & Idot;M) and its referred National e-Science e-Infrastructure (TRUBA) unit in collaboration with the EURO-CC project. Structural and temperature-dependent photoluminescence properties of nababo3:ce3+,tb3+ phosphors synthesized using the combustion method

    No full text
This study explores the structural and temperature-dependent photoluminescence of Ce3+ and Tb3+ doped NaBaBO3 phosphors, synthesized via combustion. Analysis of their crystal structures confirmed excellent alignment with the standard PDF#98-008-0110. Investigation into both room and lowtemperature photoluminescence revealed that the dopants have a significant effect on emission spectra. Ce3+-doped samples exhibited excitation peaks at 275 nm and 358 nm, leading to a primary emission at 419 nm, with enhanced low-temperature emission suggesting reduced non-radiative processes. Tb3+doped phosphors showed excitation from 250 to 377 nm and emissions from blue to deep red, including strong green emission at 550 nm due to 5D4?7F5 transitions. Optimal doping was found at 1 mol% for Ce3+, while Tb3+ showed increased luminescence up to 3 mol%, with concentration quenching observed beyond these points. The study indicates dipole-dipole interactions dominate Ce3+ concentration quenching, whereas Tb3+ involves both electric dipole and quadrupole interactions. This analysis provides insights into enhancing luminescent efficiency and suggests NaBaBO3:xCe3+,Tb3+ phosphors' potential in advancing white LED technology, highlighting their stable luminescent properties at low temperatures. The effect of preoperative carbohydrate-containing fluid consumption on maternal oxidative stress markers during elective cesarean delivery

    Get PDF
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of carbohydrate loading prior to the cesarean surgery under spinal anesthesia on thiols and ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels. Design: Prospective, randomized placebo-controlled study. Methods: Seventy-nine pregnant women planned for cesarean sections under spinal anesthesia at Karaman Training and Research Hospital were randomized into a control group (group C) (n = 42), and an oral carbohydrate preloading group (group OCH) (n = 37). OCH loading requires consuming 400 mL the night before surgery and 200 mL up to 2 hours before anesthesia. Group OCH consumed an oral carbohydrate-rich beverage (Nutricia-Fantomalt), and group C consumed an equal volume of water. This study investigated thiol-disulfide homeostasis after preoperative carbohydrate consumption. Preoperative gastric fluid, volume, antral cross-sectional area, hypotension following the birth, and fetal blood gas parameters were compared across groups. Findings: Thiols and IMA levels did not differ across groups before and after surgery (P > .05). Gastric ultrasonography showed similar antral cross-sectional area and stomach volume between groups (P = .172, P = .128, respectively). When surgery caused hypotension, group OCH received more ephedrine for surgery-induced hypotension, although this difference is not statistically significant (P = .704). A clustered error bar (95% confidence interval) plot with an interpolation line was used for a time-based comparison of mean differences in heart rate and mean arterial pressure between the groups. Conclusions: This study supports that mothers' thiols and IMA levels were unaffected by preoperative OCH loading before cesarean surgery. We did not examine thiol and its derivatives in umbilical cord blood; hence, we can not comment on thiol/disulfide homeostasis levels in neonates. © 2024 The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurse

In this context, the characteristics, historical processes, and agreements concerning the Nile and Danube rivers will be examined; cooperation initiatives and related challenges will also be discussed. The Nile and Danube rivers will be compared in terms of the stability they provide or fail to provide. In the first chapter, the issue of transboundary waters will be conceptually explained from the perspective of international law, with a focus on fundamental doctrines and legal bases. The second chapter will address the characteristics and significance of the Nile River Basin. The agreements and cooperation initiatives made since the colonial period will be reviewed, and the disputes among Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia regarding the use of the Nile River will be analyzed. The third chapter will focus on the Danube River, exploring its geographical features, historical process, and cooperation initiatives in the basin. Additionally, the Gabcikovo-Nagymaros Project dispute will be discussed. In the fourth chapter, the Nile and Danube rivers will be compared in terms of geographical features, historical background, and water resource management. In conclusion, the Nile River's location in an arid region, the underdeveloped status of its riparian states, and concerns over national sovereignty hinder efforts toward cooperation. In contrast, the Danube River benefits from sufficient rainfall and the economic goals of its riparian states, which facilitate collaboration. This comparison highlights the critical role of international cooperation in water resource management
