    The effect of midazolam on remifentanil-ınduced difficulty in mask ventilation: a randomised study

    Objective: To explore the impact of midazolam premedication on the difficulty of mask ventilation induced by remifentanil during general anaesthesia induction. Study Design: A prospective, randomised, double-blind study. Place and Duration of the Study: This study was conducted at Karaman Training and Research Hospital, Karaman, Turkiye, from May 2022 to January 2024. Methodology: This study included 120 patients aged 18-60 years with ASA score I-II scheduled to undergo general anaesthesia for elective surgery. The patients were randomly divided into two groups: Group M and Group C. Patients in Group M received midazolam premedication before induction, while patients in Group C received saline. After the general anaesthesia induction, the level of mask ventilation difficulty for the patients was evaluated using the Warters scale as a primary outcome of the study, in which an independent Sample t-test was used for comparison. Results: The groups showed a significant difference in Warters scale results distribution (p <0.001). The mean Warters scores were 1.58 (2.03) in Group M and 3.40 (2.26) in Group C. Conclusion: The study concluded that using midazolam premedication can help prevent difficulties with mask ventilation that may arise with the use of remifentanil during anaesthesia induction. The results also showed that midazolam premedication can facilitate mask ventilation for patients with risk factors for difficult mask ventilation. © 2025 College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.     Tekke ve Tasavvuf Edebiyatı’nın 17. yüzyıldaki en önemli simalarından biri de Nakşî Ali Akkirmânî’dir. Yaşadığı dönemde özellikle tasavvufî içerikli şiirlerini, halkın anlayabileceği bir şekilde süsten, sanatlı söyleyişlerden uzak sade ve akıcı bir üslupla kaleme almıştır. Nakşî, kendine özgü sade ve didaktik üslubuyla halkı tasavvuf yoluyla bilgilendirerek onları eğitme yoluna gitmiş, dünya hayatının geçiciliğine vurgu yaparak ebedi saadetin nasıl elde edilebileceğinin yollarını öğretmeye çalışmıştır. Tasavvufî düşüncelerini insanlara empoze ederken fikirlerini sağlam temellere dayandırmak istemiş ve bunu yaparken genellikle ayet ve hadislerden iktibas yapma yolunu tercih etmiştir. Gavriyye mesnevisinde “işari tefsir” metoduyla ayetleri, işlediği konuların bağlamından sapmadan tefsir etmiş ve yine konunun bağlamına münasip hadislere de yer vermiştir. Tamamı manzum bir şekilde telif edilen eserde, klasik mesnevilerdeki düzenlenme biçimi bu eserde yoktur. Gavriyye üzerine sosyal bilimler adına atılan adım ve temel oluşturma yönüyle önem arz eden bir yüksek lisans çalışması bulunmaktadır. Dönemin şartlarına göre Ulaş’ın yüksek lisans tezi yeterli ve olgun bir çalışma olarak gözükmektedir. Ancak günümüzdeki teknik alt yapının gelişmesi ve araştırma-inceleme imkanlarının genişliği gibi nedenlerden dolayı yeni bilgiler-veriler ekseni üzerinde eserin bir kez daha incelenmesi yerinde bir karar olacaktır. Bu tezdeki dört olarak belirtilen nüshaların sayısı tarafımızdan yapılan araştırma ve incelemelerle birlikte on altıya ulaşmıştır. Araştırma makalemizde Gavriyye’nin kütüphane ve katalog taramalarıyla tespit edilen altı adet yurt dışı ve on adet yurt içindeki nüshalarının tanıtımı yapılarak esas alınan nüshaların kimlikleri hakkında tarafımızca bazı değerlendirmelerde bulunulacaktır. Eserin yurt dışı ve yurt içindeki bilinmeyen bu zengin nüsha çeşitliliğinin ortaya çıkması yeniden tam anlamıyla bir edisyon kritik çalışmasına tabi tutulmasının bir ihtiyaç olduğu düşüncesi ağırlık kazanmıştır. Ayrıca beyit sayısı olarak daha hacimli bu bilinmeyen nüshaların varlığı eserin içeriğine şüphesiz ciddi katkılarda bulunacaktır.One of the most important figures in the Tekke and Sufism Literature of the 17th century is Naqshi Ali Akkirmani. During his time, he wrote particularly Sufi-themed poetry in a simple and fluent style that was accessible to the public, avoiding ornate and artistic expressions. Naqshi aimed to educate the people about Sufism through his unique, straightforward, and didactic style, emphasizing the transience of worldly life and teaching how eternal happiness could be attained. While imposing his Sufi thoughts on people, he sought to base his ideas on solid foundations, often preferring to quote verses from the Quran and Hadith. In his work Gavriyye, he interpreted verses using the isari tafsir method without deviating from the context of the topics discussed, also including relevant Hadiths. The work is composed entirely in verse, lacking the typical arrangement found in classical mesnevis. There exists a master's thesis that emphasizes the social science significance of Gavriyye, which appears to be a sufficient and mature study considering the conditions of that period. However, due to advancements in technical infrastructure and research opportunities today, it would be prudent to re-examine the work based on new information and data. The number of copies mentioned as four in this thesis has reached sixteen through our research and examinations. In our research article, we will introduce six foreign and ten domestic copies of Gavriyye, identified through library and catalog searches, along with evaluations regarding the identities of the essential copies used. The emergence of this unknown variety of rich copies both domestically and abroad suggests a strong need for a comprehensive critical edition study of the work.     Son yıllarda dünya nüfusundaki hızlı artış ve endüstriyel faaliyetlerin ivmelenerek artmasıyla insanlığın enerjiye olan ihtiyacı önemli ölçüde artırmıştır. Bu artan talebi karşılamak için fosil yakıtların daha fazla tüketilmesi çevre üzerinde ciddi zararların oluşmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu nedenle güneş enerjisini elektrik enerjisine dönüştüren güneş hücreleri büyük önem kazanmıştır. Güneş hücresi alanında birçok araştırma yapılmış ve farklı türlerde birçok hücre yapısı geliştirilmiştir. Bu bağlamda evrensel çalışmalar dikkate alındığında perovskit güneş hücrelerinin (PGH) yüksek elektron hareketliliği, yüksek taşıyıcı difüzyon uzunluğu, yüksek absorpsiyon katsayısı, ayarlanabilir bant aralığı ve benzersiz elektromanyetik özelliklere sahip olması nedeniyle verimlilik konusunda hızla gelişim göstererek organik-inorganik hibrit perovskit güneş hücrelerinde güç çevrim oranı (PCE) %26,7 seviyesine kadar ulaşılmıştır. Organik-inorganik hibrit PGH'lerin tüm bu geliştirmelerine rağmen içerisindeki uçucu organik katyonlar, metilamonyum (MA) ve formamidinyumda (FA) termal dengesizlik ve zayıf uzun vadeli kararlılık sorunlarına neden olmaktadır. Bu durum, araştırmaları tamamen inorganik alternatifleri incelemeye itmektedir. Bu bağlamda üstün termal kararlılık ve yüksek performans sergilediği rapor edilen inorganik CsPbI2Br perovskit güneş hücrelerinin aynı zamanda kusur kaynaklı ışımasız rekombinasyonu ve iyon göçünü önemli ölçüde baskıladığı geçmiş çalışmalarda aktarılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, inorganik CsPbI2Br perovskit yapısının verimlilik ve kararlılık parametrelerini geliştirmek amacıyla B-site heterovalent katkı maddesi olarak lantanit (Ln)-tabanlı tulyum (Tm3+) iyonları farklı oranlarda yapıya dahil edilmiştir. Ayrıca üretilen PGH'ler, kararlılık seviyesini maksimize etmek amacıyla tamamen inorganik (FTO/SnO2/CsPb1-xTmxI2Br/CuSCN/r-GO/Au) mimariye sahiptir. Yapılan deneyler sonucunda Tm3+ katkısı ile üretilen hücrelerde, ışımasız rekombinasyonunun bastırılması, iyileştirilmiş kristalite ve faz stabilizasyonunun kontrol edilmesiyle elde edilen %17,47 verimlilik değeri 400 saatlik kararlılık testinde %5'in altında azalma gösterirken, kontrol hücreler 320 saatin sonunda %70'lik bir verimlilik kaybı sergilemiştir.In recent years, the rapid increase in the world population and the acceleration of industrial activities have significantly increased the energy need of humanity. The increased consumption of fossil fuels causes serious damage to the environment. For this reason, solar cells have gained great importance. In this context, perovskite solar cells (PGH) have shown rapid improvement in efficiency values due to their high electron mobility, high carrier diffusion length, high absorption coefficient, adjustable band gap and unique electromagnetic properties leads the power conversion efficiencies (PCE) in organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells up to 26.7%. Despite all these developments in organic-inorganic hybrid PGHs, volatile organic cations in methylammonium (MA) and formamidinium (FA) cause thermal instability and poor long-term stability problems. In this study, lanthanide (Ln)-based thulium (Tm3+) ions were incorporated into the perovskite structure at different ratios as B-site heterovalent dopantsin order to improve the efficiency and stability parameters of the inorganic CsPbI2Br perovskite structure. In addition, the produced PGHs have a completely inorganic (FTO/SnO2/CsPb1-xTmxI2Br/CuSCN/r-GO/Au) architecture in order to maximize the stability level. By incorporating Tm3+ into the perovskite structure, an 17.47% efficiency was achieved, attributed to the suppression of nonradiative recombination, improved crystallinity and phase stabilization, and less than 5% degradation was observed after 400-hour stability test, while the control cells exhibited an 70% efficiency loss after 320 hours

    Bu araştırmanın amacı teknoloji ve yazılım endüstrisinde işletme değeri üzerinde etkili olduğu düşünülen parametrelerin etkisini değerlendirmektir. Söz konusu parametreler işletmenin likidite durumunu, verimliliğini, borçluluğunu ve piyasadaki durumunu belirten oranlardan oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada ayrıca bu oranların işletme değeri üzerindeki etkileri analiz edilerek, sektöre özgü dinamiklerin bu bağlantılarda oynadığı rolün anlaşılması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu kapsamda sektörde yer alan en büyük 50 uluslararası firmanın 2014-2023 yılı verileri panel veri analizi yardımıyla analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda brüt kâr marjı ve piyasa defter değerinin işletme değerini olumlu etkilediği, cari oran, borç özkaynak oranı, borç toplam varlık oranı ve aktif devir hızı değişkenlerinin ise negatif yönde etkilediği ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Araştırmanın teknoloji-yazılım alanında işletme değeri belirlenmesiyle yatırım kararı, rekabet analizi, firma seçimi gibi konularda karar vericilere yol göstereceği düşünülmektedir.The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of parameters that are considered to be effective on enterprise value in the technology and software industry. These parameters consist of ratios indicating the liquidity, productivity, indebtedness and market position of the enterprise. The study also aims to analyze the effects of these ratios on enterprise value and to understand the role of industry-specific dynamics in these linkages. In this context, the 2014-2023 data of the 50 largest international firms in the sector are analyzed with the help of panel data analysis. As a result of the research, it is revealed that gross profit margin and market book value positively affect enterprise value, while current ratio, debt-equity ratio, debt-total asset ratio and asset turnover rate variables negatively affect it. It is thought that the research will guide decision-makers on issues such as investment decision, competition analysis, and firm selection by determining enterprise value in the field of technology-software

    Determination of juglone content of some walnut cultivars and the light fastness of dyestuffs obtained from these cultivars in the dyeing of cotton

    This study was carried out in 2020 to determine the light fastness in dyeing cotton fabrics to test the juglone values in the content of domestic and foreign walnut cultivars as well as the use of these cultivars in natural dyeing. According to the results of the study, the light fastness test results obtained after dyeing the dyestuffs obtained from domestic and foreign cultivars of Juglans regia L. walnut species on cotton fabrics were calculated with the lowest 2 values in Serr and Şen 2 walnut cultivars, while the highest 3 were Maraş 18, Şebin, Fernette, and Fernor cultivars. J. regia juglone analysis results obtained from domestic and foreign cultivars of walnut species, from lowest to highest, were determined in Şen 2, Maraş 18, Fernette, Şebin, Maraş 12, Pedro, Serr, Sundland, Bilecik, Chandler, Franquette and Fernor cultivars, respectively. In addition, according to the results of the percentage similarity analysis, in which the similarities between the juglone contents of domestic and foreign walnut cultivars were calculated, it was determined that domestic and foreign cultivars were generally grouped among themselves and these groups had higher similarities among themselves. When the tested juglone amounts of domestic and foreign walnut cultivars included in the experiment were compared statistically, it was found that Fernor (0.2595) and Franquette (0.2581) cultivars were not statistically different, but together with Chandler (0.2538), the juglone amounts of these cultivars were statistically significantly different between almost all cultivars

    Evaluation of the effect of probiotic supplementation on ıntestinal barrier ıntegrity and epithelial damage in colitis disease: A systematic review

    Context Previous reviews have focused on the effects of probiotics on colitis, but there is a need to understand their impact on barrier integrity and tight junction protein improvement in colitis. Objective This study aimed to systematically examine the effects of probiotic use on barrier integrity in colitis disease. This study was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Data Sources A systematic search in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane databases identified 2537 articles. Data Extraction As a result of the search, 2537 articles were accessed. Study results were summarized descriptively through discussions by intervention conditions, study population, measurement methods, and key findings. The included studies were independently reviewed and all authors reached consensus on the quality and major findings from the included articles. Forty-six studies that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed within the scope of the systematic review. Results Although the study primarily utilized probiotics from the Lactobacillaceae family (notably, L casei, L reuteri, L rhamnosus, L plantarum, and L pentosus) and the Bifidobacteriaceae family (notably, B breve, B animalis, and B dentium), other probiotics also demonstrated positive effects on tight junction proteins. These effects are attributed to the production of bioactive and metabolic compounds, as well as short-chain fatty acids, which combat pathogens and reduce anti-inflammatory agents. However, it was observed that the effects of these probiotics on tight junction proteins varied depending on the strain and dose. Conclusion The beneficial effects of probiotics on remission in inflammatory bowel disease are well documented. Studies show that probiotics generally improve intestinal barrier function, but factors such as dose, duration, and bacterial species combinations need further clarification. Additionally, comprehensive studies are needed to understand how improved barrier function affects absorption in individuals. Systematic Review Registration PROSPERO registration no. CRD42023452774

    Financial failure risk of sme’s and covid-19 pandemic: a study on bist sme industrial index

    Bu çalışmada genel itibariyle, KOBİ’lerin finansal başarısızlık riski ile COVID-19 pandemisinin KOBİ’lerin finansal başarı durumuna etkisi incelenmiştir. Çalışmada, BIST KOBİ sanayi endeksinde işlem gören 46 firmanın 2019-2022 dönem verileri kullanılmıştır. Altman Z, Springate S, Taffler T, Fulmer H ve Zmijewski X skor modellerinden faydalanılmıştır. Altman Z modeline göre, 2019 yılında firmaların %54,3’ü, 2020 yılında %39,1’i, 2021 yılında %30,4’ü ve 2022 yılında %28,2’si başarısızdır. Springate S modeline göre, 2019 yılında firmaların %36,9’u, 2020 yılında %21,7’si, 2021 yılında %17,3’ü ve 2022 yılında ise %13’ü başarısızdır. Fulmer H modeline göre, 2019 yılında firmaların %26’sı, 2020 yılında %23,9’u, 2021 yılında %15,2’si ve 2022 yılında ise % 6,5’i başarısızdır. Zmijewski X modeline göre 2019 yılında %17,3’ü, 2020 yılında %6,5’i, 2021 ve 2022 yılında %2,1’i başarısızdır. Taffler T modeline göre 2019 yılında %26’sı 2020 yılında %13’ü, 2021 yılında %8,6’sı, 2022 yılında ise % 6,5’i başarısızdır. Çalışmada, COVID-19 pandemisinin endeksindeki firmaların başarısını olumsuz yönde etkilemediği sonucuna varılmıştır.This study aims to estimate risk of financial failure for SMEs and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on financial success of SMEs was also addressed. The sample of the study consists of 2019-2022 data of 46 firms traded in the BIST SME Industry index. Altman-Z, Springate S, Taffler T, Fulmer H and Zmijewski X models were used. For Altman Z, 54.3% of companies failed in 2019, 39.1% in 2020, 30.4% in 2021, 28.2% in 2022. For Springate, 36.9% failed in 2019, 21.7% in 2020, 17.3% in 2021, 13% in 2022. For Fulmer, 26% failed in 2019, 23.9% in 2020, 15.2% in 2021, 6.5% in 2022. For Zmijewski, 17.3% failed in 2019, 6.5% failed in 2020, 2.1% failed in 2021 and 2022. For Taffler model, 26% failed in 2019, 13% in 2020, 8.6% in 2021, 6.5% in 2022. Consequently, COVID-19 pandemic did not negatively affect success of firms in index

    Quartz crystal microbalance modified with rhodamine-polyacrylonitrile nanofibers for acetone vapor sensing

    Rhodamine based polyacrylonitrile (PAN-RHE) electrospun nanofiber sensor was used to investigate for the vapor sensor application against acetone, ethanol, and benzene vapors at room temperature. Quartz crystal microbalance technique was employed to collect the time-dependent sensor response data which were analyzed for the determination of sensor parameters and for the investigation of the adsorption behavior between nanofiber and vapor molecules. The acetone vapor yielded the highest response with a best response with a sensitivity of 0.0243 Hz/ppm. The limit of detection and limit of quantification for acetone vapor were determined as 135.80 ppm and 411.52 ppm, respectively. Pseudo first-order and Elovich models were chosen to investigate adsorption dynamics. Pseudo first-order adsorption rate and Elovich desorption constant were calculated using time-dependent data. A possible hydrogen binding or dipole–dipole interaction between the vapor molecules and rhodamine and/or nitrile units of the PAN fiber chain was proposed as a sensor interaction mechanism
