Adsorption Studies of Crystal Violet From Aqueous Solution Using Low Cost Material: Equilibrium and Kinetics Studies
Crystal violet (CV), one of the toxic dyes which are extensively used for dyestuffs, textile, paper and plastics industries. CV does not easily biodegrades in aqueous medium and show harmful effect on aquatic as well as human life. In the present work adsorption studies of CV onto husk powder of Red gram crop (Cajanuscajan) seed was examined in aqueous solution at 27.8ºC. The effects of initial concentration, adsorbent dose, temperature, and contact time etc were determined. Highest 81.49% adsorption efficiency recorded was for 50 mg/L solution concentration onto 2.5g of husk powder of Red gram crop seed. The applicability of Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm model was investigated, and the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model exhibited the best fit than Freundlich isotherm model with the experimental data. The adsorption follows pseudo-second-order kinetics
Experimental Analysis of The Effects of Graphic Organizer Strategy and Age on Computer Anxiety of Distance Learning Students of University of Ibadan, Nigeria
This study examined the experimental analysis of the effects of graphic organiser strategy and age on computer anxiety of distance learning students of University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Pretest-posttest, control group quasi-experimental design with a 2x2 factorial matrix was used in the study. Multi-stage sampling technique was used in sampling 114 participants from 2 faculties of distance learning centre. The respondents were measured with validated scale of 0.86 reliability coefficient and the data obtained was analyzed using t-test statistical analysis. Two (2) research hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The results showed that there was significant difference in the computer anxiety of distance learning students exposed to graphic organiser strategy and those in the control group (t= 41.36; p<0.05) and there was significant difference in the computer anxiety of old and young distance learning students (t= 28.53; p<0.05). In view of these findings, the study recommended that students should be encouraged and trained on the effective usage of graphic organiser strategy and that old students should be encouraged to improve on the usage of computer for academic development. This is because computers are being used majorly for academic tasks in distance learning centre.

Moral and Epistemological Implications of John Dewey’s Instrumentalism
Humanity embarks on epistemological quests in order to achieve knowledge that could in turn minister to human needs. knowledge by this token becomes a tool for problem-solving. The human specie therefore theorizes in order to explain myriad difficult existential challenges and to gain firm control of their environment. John Dewey in the 20th century advances his instrumentalism postulate, which proposes a reconstruction in philosophy. He proposes a pragmatic reconstruction of truth in terms of its practical function such that knowledge, morality and even education could be instrumentalized. Dewey adopts the scientific methodology of experimentalism in order to fully achieve his instrumentalism. Regrettably, he overemphasizes the method of science as all sufficing and this renders society’s set goals indeterminate and breeds solipsism. When knowledge and morality get instrumentalized, morality becomes relativized leaving no possibility of a reference to any fixed moral code. This research therefore aims to expose the moral and epistemological implications of Dewey’s instrumentalism. The author adopts the textual analysis method of enquiry and suggests a humanization of instrumentalism, which protects human dignity and personhood as well as promotes the safe appropriation of the positive benefits of the scientific adventure
Does monetary policy induce economic growth? An empirical evaluation of the Nigerian economy
The goal of every economy is to attain the highest level of economic growth and development. Monetary and fiscal policies are instruments which the government of any nation can employ to effectively acheive the desired growth of their respective economies. This study investigates the extent to which monetary policies can promote economic growth in Nigeria covering the period of 1980 - 2016. In doing this, the study used secondary data from the Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical bulletin and National Bureau of Statistics various issues. The econometric technique of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), Johansen co-integration and the vector error correction model (VECM) were employed in analyzing the data collected for this study. The result showed that monetary policies did not have a significant impact on Nigeria's economic growth in the short run, but significantly affected the country's growth in the long run. The non significance of the nation's monetary policies on economic growth in the short run is a strong proof of the gap between monetary policy formulation and implementation. Furthermore, monetary policies should be employed to create favourable investment climate by aiding the emergence of market based interest rate and exchange rate that will bring in both domestic and foreign investments. Finally, the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Finance should ensure there is efficient coordination of monetary and fiscal policies to spur economic growth in Nigeri

Comparative Analysis of Predictive Models for the Likelihood of Infertility in Women Using Supervised Machine Learning Techniques
Infertility is a worldwide problem, affecting 8% – 15% of the couples in their reproductive age. WHO estimates that there are 60 - 80 million infertile couples worldwide with the highest incidence in some regions of Sub-Saharan Africa also infertility rate may reach 50% compared to 20% in Eastern Mediterranean Region and 11% in the developed world. Infertility has caused considerable social, emotional and psychological stress between couples, among families, within the individual concerned and the society at large. Historical data constituting information describing the risk factors of infertility alongside the respective infertility likelihood status of women was collected from Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC). The predictive model was formulated using naïve Bayes’, decision trees and multi-layer perceptron algorithm – supervised machine learning algorithms. The formulated model was simulated using the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis (WEKA) environment. The results of the performance evaluation of the machine learning algorithms showed that the C4.5 decision trees and the multi-layer perceptron with an accuracy of 74.4% each outperformed the naïve Bayes’ algorithm. In addition, the decision trees algorithm recognized variables relevant to predicting infertility and a rule that can be applied on patient risk factor records for infertility likelihood prediction was deduced from the tree structure. This showed how effective machine learning algorithms can be used in predicting the likelihood of infertility in Nigerian women

A Survey on Energy and Lifetime in Wireless Sensor Networks
Over the past several years, wireless sensor network has attracted many researchers as well as general users; because of its various applications such as commercial and military applications. The sensor nodes are basic unit of a sensor network that is energized by low powered devices. In un-tethered wireless sensor nodes the power supply is a crucial system component. The energy supplying is made in two aspects, first store the energy and distribute it as per the requirement, else refill the consumed energy by scavenging from external power source like solar energy, Temperature gradients, Vibrations, Pressure variations, flow of air and liquid. If some nodes deplete their energy quickly, that node will not sense and that region is called blank region. This could be avoided by reducing the energy consumption of each sensor node to improve the lifetime of the wireless sensor networks. Therefore, the usage of energy of each sensor nodes must be optimized to maximize the network life. This survey paper is concentrated on the energy consumption for typical sensor node component and then discussed the directions to conserve energy in wireless sensor networks. This paper also gives the classifications of the energy conservation schemes, which are later discussed in detail. Special focus is given over the areas in the literature such as data aggregation along with load balancing techniques. Finally, the paper is concluded with insights for researchers about energy conservation in wireless sensor network
