    Discovering the Impact of Job Security on Organisational Commitment and Perceived Stress

    Job security is one of the utmost important feature that attracts an employee towards a job. It is an essential component of a job profile and indirectly influences organizational behaviour. The present study aimed to discover the impact of job security on organizational commitment and perceived stress. The study also assessed the relationship between organizational commitment and perceived stress amongst government (n=50) and private employees (n=50) in India. Quota sampling was done to select the sample. The tools used include the Organisational Commitment Questionnaire (Allen & Meyer, 1990) and the Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen et al.,1988). The results revealed a significant negative correlation between organisational commitment and perceived stress. A significant difference was found between organisational commitment and perceived stress amongst the government sector and private sector employees.       &nbsp

    Post Retirement and Welfare Challenges in Nigeria: Issues and Prospects

    Today, pension management poses a major challenge to government, the active employees and retirees alike, in terms of contribution and payment. The totality of plans, procedures and legal process of separating funds and administering the fund as and when due, to meet the demands of workers on retirement is what makes for meaningful living of retirees. The fund separated and given to these categories of employees in lump sum is gratuity and the one given on installment basis is pension. The inability of organizations to fulfill this obligation to the employees that have used their productive age to serve in various capacities have made life after retirement miserable and undesirable for the affected workers. This study examined the various factors responsible for poor administration of retirement benefit, the pension schemes and its challenges, and identified strategies towards easing the challenges. The study adopted secondary data. It discovered that; government had put in place several pension scheme overtime, employers and employees themselves have part to play at retirement so that employees can look forward to retirement with excitement. It concluded that strict government regulations, retirement planning by both employer and employees will enhance post retirement welfare. It is recommended that government should engage in aggressive orientation of citizens on the need for retirement planning, employers should give employees early notification on retirement date, followed by regular reminder. Employees should embrace savings and investment culture, and desist from lavish lifestyle

    “O to Gee” (Enough Is Enough), An Exploratory Sociological Analysis of a Political Campaign Slogan in Nigeria

    All over the world, politicians fancy up their language in a special way to give extract effect and force to their message to the electorate in order to achieve their objective of winning more votes. This language can be embodied in rhetoric, propaganda, promise, colloquialism, word coinages, pidginized and figurative expressions. Attractive political slogans are used by political leaders to inspire and set the mood of public about a particular issues. It is argued that a specific characteristic of political slogans make them the prime instrument for government communication, but at the same time the same characteristic make them the most vulnerable instrument as well. Political campaign slogan has continued to play an important roles in voter’s education and enlightenment in Nigeria. The electorates have witnessed many political campaign slogans such as “one nation, one destiny” of late Shehu Shagari led National Party of Nigeria (NPN), “Hope” of the Late MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Gbais bee (take it there) of the “Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, “change” of Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) and Power to the Peoples of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, none of these political slogans have a more devasting effect in capturing the mood of the electorates as the “O to gee” (Enough is enough) in Kwara State. Thus, this paper utilized secondary sources of data to interrogate the effect of political campaign slogan in Nigeria with specific reference to Kwara state gubernatorial election conducted in 2019, as evident in the dismantling of the twenty-eight (28)years old famous and powerful Saraki’s political dynasty in the state. It was observed that man as a political and social animals engages in the practice of politics as a social and noble activity to express his political agenda either positively or negatively. Therefore, the paper concluded with some recommendations that if political campaign slogan is well-structured, it is capable of being an effective tool for driving government policies, ensuring mass participation of citizenry in political activities, electioneering process and aiding an election of popular candidates with attractive manifestoes at the poll.&nbsp

    Differences in the 1-Year Persistence Rates of International Students by Their Institutional Status at Texas Community Colleges: A Statewide, Multiyear Investigation

    In this multiyear, statewide study, the degree to which 1-year persistence rates differed by the institutional status (i.e., stayed or transferred) of International students who were enrolled in Texas community colleges was determined.  Inferential statistical procedures revealed the presence of statistically significant differences in 1-year persistence rates between International students who stayed at the same Texas community college and International students who transferred to a different Texas community college.  In all cases, the 1-year persistence rates of International students who stayed were higher, 14 to 52 times higher, than the 1-year persistence rate of International students who transferred.  In all 15 academic years (i.e., 1999-2000 through 2013-2014), very large effect sizes were present. &nbsp

    Nonlinear Forced Vibration of Piezoelectric and Electrostatically Actuated Nano/Micro Piezoelectric Beam

    In this study, the nonlinear vibration analysis of nano/micro electromechanical (NEMS/MEMS) piezoelectric beam exposed to simultaneous electrostatic and piezoelectric actuation. NEMS/MEMS beam actuate with combined DC and AC electrostatic actuation on the through two upper and lower electrodes. An axial force proportional to the applied DC voltage is produced by piezoelectric layers present via a DC electric voltage applied in the direction of the height of the piezoelectric layers. The governing differential equation of the motion is derived using Hamiltonian principle based on the Eulere-Bernoilli hypothesis and then this partial differential equation (PDE) problem is simplified into an ordinary differential equation (ODE) problem by using the Galerkin approach. Hamiltonian approach has been used to solve the problem and introduce a design strategy. Phase plane diagram of piezoelectric and electrostatically actuated beam has plotted to show the stability of presented nonlinear system and natural frequencies are calculated to use for resonator design. The result compare with the numerical results (fourth-order Runge-Kutta method), and approximate is more acceptable and results show that one could obtain a predesign strategy by prediction of effects of mechanical properties and electrical coefficients on the stability and forced vibration of common electrostatically actuated micro beam

    We study a seventh convergence order solver introduced earlier on the j−dimensional Euclidean space for solving systems of equations. We use hypotheses only on the divided differences of order one in contrast to the earlier study using hypotheses on derivatives reaching up to order eight although these derivatives do not appear on the solver. This way we expand the applicability of the solver, and in the more general setting of Banach space valued operators. Numerical examples complement the theoretical results

    Minimizing and Evaluating Weighted Means of Special Mappings

    A constrained optimization problem is solved, as an application of minimum principle for a sum of strictly concave continuous functions, subject to a linear constraint, firstly for finite sums of elementary such functions. The motivation of solving such problems is minimizing and evaluating the (unknown) mean of a random variable, in terms of the (known) mean of another related random variable. The corresponding result for infinite sums of the such type of functions follows as a consequence, passing to the limit. Note that in our statements and proofs the condition  on the positive numbers  is not essential for the interesting part of the results. So, our work refers not only to means of random variables, but to more general weighted means. A related example is given. A corresponding result for special concave mappings taking values into an order-complete Banach lattice of self-adjoint operators is also proved. Namely, one finds a lower bound for a sum of special concave mappings with ranges in the above mention order-complete Banach lattice, under a suitable linear constraint

    Differentıal Transform Method for Solvıng a Boundary Value Problem Arısıng in Chemıcal Reactor Theory

    In this study, we deal with the numerical solution of the mathematical model for an adiabatic tubular chemical reactor which processes an irreversible exothermic chemical reaction. For steady state solutions, the model can be reduced to the following nonlinear ordinary differential equation [1]: (1) where lambda, mu and beta are Péclet number, Damköhler number and adiabatic temperature rise, respectively. Boundary conditions of Eq. (1) are (2) Differential transform method [2] is used to solve the problem (1)-(2) for some values of the considered parameters. Residual error computation is adopted to confirm the accuracy of the results. In addition, the obtained results are compared with those obtained by other existing numerical approach [3]

    Computation of Lebesgue’s Space-Filling Curve

    The means of realizing or approximating the Lebesgue space-filling curve (SFC) with binary arithmetic on a uniformly spaced binary grid are not obvious, one problem being its formulation in terms of ternary representations; that impediment can be overcome via use of a binary-oriented Cantor set.  A second impediment, namely the Devil’s Staircase feature, also created by the role of the Cantor set, can be overcome via the definition of a “working inverse”, thereby providing means of achieving compatibility with such a grid. The results indicate an alternative way to proceed, in realizing an approximation to Lebesgue’s SFC, which circumvents any complication raised by Cantor sets and is compatible with binary and integer arithmetic. Well-known constructions such as the z-curve or Morton order, sometimes considered in association with Lebesgue’s SFC, are treated as irrelevant
