英語プライベートレッスンが関西国際大学全学部の学生の幸福感と英語の 学習意欲に与える影響についての予備的研究
関西国際大学(KUIS)において2021年に導入された「イングリッシュ・プライベート・レッスン(EPL)」は、学生の英語学習への主体的な取り組みを促進するための補完的な活動として設立された。本プログラムは、個別指導を通じて学生の言語スキル向上を支援し、英語学習に対する継続的な関与を促す役割を果たしている。
本研究は、KUISの複数の学部に所属する学生を対象に、EPLセッションの受講が学生の幸福感および学習意欲に及ぼす影響を包括的に検討し、高等教育における英語教育の革新的な手法としての意義を明らかにすることを目的とする。
EPLセッションは学習に対する不安の軽減や自己効力感の向上に寄与し、言語学習に対する肯定的な態度を醸成することが示唆されている。本研究は、課外英語プログラムが学生の全人的な発達を促進する役割について貴重な洞察を提供し、大学における語学教育戦略の改善に対する示唆を提供するものでもある。
幸福感と学習意欲は日本の学生の授業や英語プログラムでの成績と密接に関連し、大きな影響を与えている。情緒的・社会的支援の強化、不安の軽減、内発的動機の向上は、学習成果の向上に不可欠であり、これらの要素を日本の教育文化の枠組みの中で適切に取り入れることは、効果的な語学教育プログラムの構築に際しきわめて重要であるといえるだろう。The English Private Lesson (EPL), introduced in 2021 at Kansai University of International Studies (KUIS), was established as a supplementary activity to enhance students' engagement with English language learning. By providing personalized guidance, the program has continuously supported students in fostering a deeper commitment to developing their language skills. This study examines the broader impact of EPL sessions on the well-being and academic motivation of students across various departments at KUIS, highlighting its role as an innovative approach to language education and its potential contributions to student success within higher education. Additionally, these sessions have been found to reduce anxiety, increase self-confidence, and foster a more positive attitude toward language learning. This study offers valuable insights into the role of extracurricular language programs in promoting holistic student development and provides implications for improving language education strategies in university settings. Well-being and academic motivation are closely correlated and have a significant impact on Japanese students’ performance in class and English programs. Enhancing emotional and social support, reducing anxiety, and fostering intrinsic motivation can lead to improved academic outcomes. A Relation between Creation of Body Expression and Learning of Rhythmic in the Activity of the Making of Music Drama
音楽劇づくりの活動での身体表現創作に関する学生ABの記述での3つの観点「身体表現の創作方法」「身体表現と音楽の構成・流れ・曲想」「身体表現創作の知覚感受」を通した認識は「リズム知覚感受・リズム運動ソルフェージュ」「音楽の知覚・感受を基盤とする表現の想像・創造」としてのリトミック学習の要素と関連していた。このうち「身体表現の創作方法」の認識は、「記譜法の訓練」としてのリトミック学習の要素と関連していた。これらのことから、音楽劇づくりの活動の身体表現創作における認識は全般的にリトミック学習の要素と関連していることが明らかとなった。またリトミック経験のある学生とそうでない学生の記述では、それらの間に有意な差はみられなかった。Students A and B's cognition through the three aspects of creation of body expression in the descriptions about the activity of the making of music drama, - "methods of creation of body expression," "body expression and musical structure, flow, and ideas," and "perception and sensitivity of creation of body expression " - were related to the rhythmic learning elements of "rhythmics perception and sensitivity, rhythmic movement solfege" and "imagination and creation of expression based on musical perception and sensitivity." The cognition of "methods of creation of body expression " of these aspects was related to the rhythmic learning elements of "musical notation training." From these findings, it became clear that cognition of creation of body expression in the activity of the making of music drama is generally related to the rhythmic learning elements. And there was no significant difference between the descriptions of students with and without rhythmic experience.departmental bulletin pape
A Consideration of High-school Students Wearing Makeup Suitable for Office Work
本稿は,校則でメイク解禁に踏み切った県立愛知商業高等学校の事例を通して高校生とメイクのあり方について考察するものである。同校では,2021年7月より毎週金曜日を私服で登校するオフィスカジュアルデーと定めた。「メイクもしてみたい」という生徒たちの要望に応えて,2024年5月からは,オフィスカジュアルデーに限ってメイク登校も認めるよう校則を変更した。生徒会が主導してルールを決め,保護者やOB・OGにもメイクの意義や実施方法を説明し,理解を得られるよう進めたのである。生徒自身がTPOに合った装いを考える機会を設け,試行錯誤を繰り返しながら実践的に学ぶ。実学を貴ぶ商業高校ならではのアイディアであり,生徒のニーズとやる気を後押しする取り組みといえよう。This paper considers the relationship between high school students and makeup, using the case of Aichi Commercial High School, where school regulations had prohibited wearing makeup. In July 2021, the school designated every Friday "office casual day," on which students could come to school in their own clothing instead of school uniforms. After students said that they would like to try wearing makeup to school too, in May 2024 the school revised its school regulations to permit students to come to school wearing makeup on office casual day only. This was conducted through deciding on rules under the leadership of the student council, explanation by guardians and alumni of the meaning of makeup and how to wear it, and efforts to encourage understanding. Students themselves were provided with opportunities to think about their appearances in line with the TPO concept and learn practically through trial and error. This idea befitting a commercial high school, which values practical learning, can be described as an initiative to meet student needs and encourage motivation.departmental bulletin pape
Receiving and Responding to Changes in the Workplace: Identification of characteristics of different occupations through an interview survey
現代社会における変化に対し人々は目まぐるしく対応せざるを得ない。変化に際して人々は抵抗を示す。しかし,職務を遂行するにあたって,変化に対応し乗り越える必要がある。人々はどのように職場の変化に対応し乗り越えているのかについて,働く人々9名を対象としたインタビュー調査を行った。得られたデータに対しSCATによる分析を行った結果,職場で生じる変化について,事務職は個人と個人のつながりに着目していることが明らかとなった。営業職は他者志向的かつチームとしての視点から,管理職はチームマネジメントの視点から変化に対応していることが示された。本研究の結果は,変化に際して職種ごとに必要となるであろう行動の一端を示唆している。People are compelled to respond rapidly to changes in modern society. Resistance to change is common among individuals. However, in fulfilling one's duties, it is essential to adapt to and overcome these changes. We conducted an interview survey with nine individuals to explore how people are responding to and overcoming changes in the workplace. Analysis of the collected data using SCAT revealed that office workers focus on the connections between individuals when dealing with workplace changes. It was also found that sales staff approach change with an other-oriented and team-focused perspective, while managers address change from a team management perspective. The results of this study suggest actions that may be necessary for different occupational roles when navigating change.departmental bulletin pape
An Investigation into Sound Materials and Instruction for Primary School Students in Japan
本研究は, 令和2(2020)年度の検定を経て2024年度から使用されている小学校英語(外国語)の検定教科書, 教授用資料に加えて学習者が自主学習するための教科書準拠の市販教材について,音声データを含め,発音指導の扱いを分析したものである。検定教科書旧版と変わらず,具体的な指導助言が乏しく、特に個別音は出版社によって扱いに差があった。市販教材も同様である。QRコードを利用して音声を提供するなど、学習者にとって利用しやすくなっている。しかし,いずれも音声にはリズムが不適切なものが多数あり, 市販教材では説明のない「カタカナ表記」が示されているなど改善の余地があることが判明した。一方で、将来英語教育を担う教職課程の学生は英語の音声について、紛らわしい音に注意を払ったり、授業では英語を主要言語として指導したいと考えているなど意識に変化が見られた。This study aims to analyze supplementary material books for schoolchildren based on authorized English textbooks and actual conditions of teaching pronunciation in classrooms and to offer opinions for

Challenges and Prospects of Programming Education in Educational Settings Anticipating the Arrival of the AI Era
本研究は,AI時代における日本のプログラミング教育の現状と課題を分析し,今後の方向性を提案するものである。特に,初等教育から高等教育に至る各段階での教育内容の接続性や,専門教員の不足,地域間格差,生成AIの教育利用といった主要な課題に焦点を当てている。また,プログラミング教育を通じた論理的思考力や問題解決能力の育成の重要性を強調するとともに,防災教育や地域課題解決への応用可能性についても検討している。本研究は,教員研修の充実,柔軟なカリキュラム設計,ICT環境の整備,さらには国際事例を活用した政策立案の必要性を提言し,これらを通じて日本独自の教育モデル構築を目指すものである。This study analyzes the current state and challenges of programming education in Japan in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), and proposes directions for future development. It focuses on key issues such as the connectivity of educational content across various stages from primary to higher education, the shortage of specialized educators, regional disparities, and the use of generative AI in education. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the importance of fostering logical thinking and problem-solving skills through programming education, as well as exploring its potential applications in disaster risk reduction education and addressing local community issues. A Study of Experiences in Basic Nursing Practicum of Interest to Nursing Students
This study aims to identify the basic nursing practicum experiences that interested nursing students based on their perspectives. A questionnaire survey was administered to 90 second-year nursing students with a response rate of 96.7%. A total of 87 open-ended were employed. The text-mining analysis revealed six cohesive clusters from the positive descriptions and ten cohesive clusters from the negative descriptions. Positive experiences that students were interested in were the ”Experience of being in the interaction between instructors, teachers, and patients,” “Experience of being able to provide care considering the patient’s condition,” and “Experience of acting to solve the problem.” The negative experiences were “Experience of not being able to provide care due to lack of knowledge,” “Experience of not being able to communicate smoothly,” and “Experience of labor intensive to record.” Using the experiences that students are interested in as teaching materials may provide learning support and lead to active learning behaviors.It was also found that students' experiences included both psychological and perceived experiences. It was suggested that specific support of learning could be considered by making sense of psychological experience and making it perceived experience.departmental bulletin pape
Proposal for a Problem-Based Learning design methodology that attempts to relate classroom learning to the cycles of the Experiential Learning Model
本研究は、Problem-Based Learningの手法を導入しようとする教員を支援することを主旨として、分野に関わらず、効果・効率的な学習の機会を生み出すことをシステム的に実現する授業設計の方略を提案するものである。方略には、Problem-Based Learningを導入する授業設計において、教育設計学の知見を適用して基本要素を設計し、コルブによる経験学習モデルの学習サイクルの手順を設計に組み込む。経験学習モデルの組み込みでは、「抽象的概念化」のステップに焦点化することにより、既有知識の活用、新規獲得知識の適用から得られた教訓を次に活かすことができるようになり、教室との往還の筋道が創出できることが期待できる。これらのことを活用して授業設計することにより、担当教員の授業における指導手順は明確化され、また、学習者においては、自律的に学びを進めることができるようになる環境が提供されることになる。
本稿では、この方略を実際の経験学習型授業の指導案にシミュレーション的に適用し、予想される効果と課題について検討した。コルブの体験学習モデルでは、大学教員が経験学習モデルの4つの各フェーズで役割を果たすことが重要であるとされていることから、本研究で提案した方略の次の検証作業では、この点に焦点を当てることが重要となると考えられる。This study proposes a strategy for designing instructions that systematically create opportunities for effective and efficient learning regardless of the field of study, with the main objective of supporting university faculty trying to introduce Problem-Based Learning methods. The strategy includes designing the basic elements of a lesson design that introduces Problem-Based Learning by applying the knowledge of instructional design studies and incorporating the procedures of the learning cycle of Kolb's experiential learning model into the design. By focusing on the “abstract conceptualization” step when integrating the experiential learning model to designing instructions, a pathway to and from the classroom and the fields will be created and it is expected that “lessons” learned from the use of existing knowledge and the application of newly acquired knowledge can be applied to the next occasions. By applying this strategy, the faculty’s instructional procedures will be clarified, and an environment will be provided in which learners can learn autonomously.
In this paper, the strategy was applied simulatively to an instruction plans of an actual course implemented for experiential learning, and anticipated effects and issues were discussed. Since Kolb's experiential learning model suggests that it is important for university faculty to play a role in each of the four phases of the experiential learning model, it is conceivable that the following validation work of the model proposed at this study should focus on this point.departmental bulletin pape
The Royal Horticultural Society and women’s horticultural education in early 20th Century Britain
This paper focuses on the collaborative relationship between the Royal Horticultural Society and the women’s horticultural schools in early 20th-century Britain. The Horticultural Society was founded in 1804 by seven horticultural enthusiasts and intellectuals, including Joseph Banks, to develop and disseminate scientific horticultural knowledge. It is recorded that the first women to join the society were the wives of leading members in 1830. Women involved in horticulture and gardening ranged from amateurs who enjoyed gardening at their estate as a hobby of upper-class women to professional gardeners, horticultural farmers, and garden designers who studied at the women's horticultural schools established in the 1890s and later. Students of horticultural schools who wanted to become gardeners were required to take and pass the general examination of the Royal Horticultural Society upon completion of their studies. This paper discusses the syllabus and examination questions of horticultural schools and considers what kind of knowledge was required by the Royal Horticultural Society. The experience of a Japanese female student, Taki Handa, who also took the Royal Horticultural Society examinations in 1908, will be considered. The paper, therefore, explores how the Royal Horticultural Society was involved in the horticultural education of women from stratified backgrounds and the gender-based issues this raised.departmental bulletin pape
Effects and Future Prospects of Virtual Flipped Classrooms in Cross-border Pre-enrollment Education
本研究は、国境を越えた編入留学プログラムにおける教育接続上の課題を改善することを目的としている。そのために、まず日本における大学入学前教育の効果測定と編入留学希望者の「仮想反転授業」に対する受容性を調査した。次にこれらの知見を基に、編入留学合格者を対象に「仮想反転授業」による留学前教育を実施した。本稿では、2020年度から開始した本研究の成果を総括し、その有効性を検証すると共に、今後の展望について考察する。This study aims to improve the educational issues of connectivity in cross-border incorporative program. To this end, we first investigated the effectiveness of pre-university education in Japan and the acceptability of 'virtual flipped classrooms' among students aspiring to cross-border incorporative program. Next, based on these findings, we implemented pre-overseas abroad education using 'virtual flipped classrooms' for students who have gained admission.
