INVESTIGATING THE CAUSES OF SCHOOL DROPOUT IN PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WAJIR NORTH SUB-COUNTY, WAJIR COUNTY, KENYA
Education is a fundamental human right and a critical driver of socio-economic development. Despite global efforts to achieve universal primary education, pupil dropout remains a significant challenge, particularly in marginalized regions such as Wajir North Sub-County Wajir County, Kenya. This study investigates the causes of school dropout in public primary schools in Wajir North Sub-County, focusing on socio-economic factors, school-based factors, and pupil characteristics. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study collected data from 20 head teachers and 120 teachers across 20 public primary schools. Stratified random sampling was employed to ensure representation across the sub-county. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study reveals that poverty, cultural practices, inadequate school infrastructure, and poor academic performance are the primary drivers of pupil dropout. The study recommends targeted interventions, including the expansion of school feeding programs, community sensitization on the importance of education, and increased government investment in school infrastructure, providing scholarships and monthly stipends to the families of girl-child as incentives to reduce early marriages, which act as a source of income for low-income families. These findings contribute to the broader discourse on educational access and retention in arid and semi-arid regions, offering actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders. INFORMATION COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT AS A PREDICTOR FOR EFFECTIVE ADMINISTRATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA
This study, “Information and communication management as a predictor for effective administration of secondary schools in Enugu State”, examined and investigated how information communication management is a predictor for effective administration of secondary schools in Enugu State. A correlational research design was used for the study. Three research questions guided the study, and three null hypotheses were posited and tested. The population of the study was made up of 8,588 principals and teachers in government-owned secondary schools in Enugu State. The sample comprised 12 principals and 356 teachers, giving a total of 368 principals and teachers. This sample was drawn from the three educational zones using simple random sampling techniques. Two Research instruments were designed by the researcher, titled Information Communication Management Questionnaire (ICMQ) and Effective Administration Questionnaire (EAQ) and validated by one expert in educational administration and planning and two experts in Measurement and Evaluation, University of Nigeria Nsukka. The test-retest method of reliability of the instrument was used, and the data obtained were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.85 and 0.82 respectively. Research questions 1 and 2 were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and research question 3 was analyzed using mean and standard deviation while simple linear regression was employed in testing the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the data analysis revealed that principals’ information communication management predicted the effective administration of secondary schools to a high extent. There was a significant relationship between principals’ information communication management and effective administration. Based on these findings, it was recommended that principals should be aware of the various lines of communication in order to promote effective administration. Article visualizations

The role of the teacher as a mentor in the practical training of students is crucial for their professional and personal development. This paper examines the theoretical foundations of mentorship and highlights the various perspectives relevant to understanding the mentor/mentee relationship. By incorporating theories such as Vygotsky's social-cognitive theory, Ibarra's model of professional identity development, and the concept of "scaffolding," the importance of mentorship support in the learning process is emphasized. Mentorship goes beyond the mere transfer of academic knowledge and also includes fostering independence, social competence, and professional identity development in students. This paper provides a well-founded theoretical analysis that underscores the key role of the teacher as a mentor in practical training and explores the impact of this mentor relationship on the professional and academic development of students. Every historical event, whether national or international, that has a precious value for the progress of people is celebrated in every country of the world. The holiday of “March 7-Albanian Teacher’s Day” for the Albanian people is a celebration of pride because it enabled Albanians to see the light of the future “education” to progress in every field of life, to create knowledge, to reflect on work skills and to take positive attitudes towards learning innovations continuously. This event happened 138 years ago, but all Albanians proudly remember the opening of the “First Albanian National School” in Korça on March 7, 1887 and the teachers of this school. Every event starts from the ideas expressed, from the implementation of administrative procedures for opening an activity, providing the staff and to the realization of the idea with its functioning to satisfy the needs of the citizens, for whom that idea was promoted. This paper reflects an interdisciplinary research studied from several aspects such as historical aspect, social aspect, pedagogical aspect, didactic aspect and psychological aspect. In fact, in this paper, historical theory was alppied to teaching practice was formulated into scientific didactic theory. The purpose of the research was focused on three objectives: The first objective focused on historical theoretical research for the creation of a paper based on secondary data for the holiday of “March 7-Opening Day of the First Albanian School - Albanian Teacher's Day” for a collaboration in the project organized by the “Center for Culture” Gostivar, Republic of North Macedonia on the occasion of this holiday. The second objective focused on applied empirical research for the implementation of this topic with a lecture and presentation in a lesson before the students of the 9th grade. The third objective focused on creativity, by encouraging the students to create poems as a sign of gratitude for the Albanian teachers on the occasion of “Albanian Teacher's Day”. Research methods: In this interdisciplinary research, several methods were used, such as the historical method, the interdisciplinary theoretical analysis method, the empirical experimental action method, the pedagogical method, the comparative method, the synthesizing method and the generalizing method.Çdo ngjarje historike qoftë kombëtare ose ndërkombëtare, që ka një vlerë të çmuar për përparimin e njerëzve festohet në çdo vend të botës.
INVESTIGATING THE IMPACT OF THE FIRST LANGUAGE USE ON WRITING SKILLS IN MOROCCAN EFL CLASSROOMS: BENEFITS AND CHALLENGES
The use of the mother tongue (L1) in English as a Foreign Language classroom has been a controversial topic for several decades. Researchers divide into two perspectives; some argue that L1 can positively impact EFL writing skills, while others contend that it results in language interference. Proponents view L1 as a valuable helping tool for EFL students, in developing their writing skills. Opponents of L1 use, on the other hand, stress L1 leads to linguistic interference, resulting in errors in English writing. This study examines the role of L1 Moroccan EFL classrooms. It examines the effect of L1 on writing skills, analyzes writing errors among Moroccan EFL learners, and explores teachers’ perceptions of the use of L1 in the classroom. A mixed-methods approach (quantitative and qualitative data) was used, combining experimental and control groups with teacher questionnaires. Findings reveal varying teacher perspectives on L1 use, with significant numbers observing both positive and negative effects. Besides, the study provides implications for effective pedagogical approaches in Moroccan EFL classrooms. Article visualizations
FLIPPED LEARNING AND ELT PRACTITIONERS IN HIGHER EDUCATION
An offshoot of the global rise in digital learning is a growing disenchantment with traditional learning, where the teacher is perceived as the primary repository of knowledge. The search for a more effective teaching approach that is learner-centred has placed flipped learning on the front burner of educational research in developed nations. Studies on flipped learning have generated positive results from both teachers and learners. These, however, do not undermine the significance of mixed findings and the attendant challenges of its implementation across disciplines. This survey, therefore, is designed to fill the lacunae in the Nigerian context by seeking to determine the extent to which teachers of English language courses in higher education implement flipped learning in its reconceptualized form. Data was collected from 15 respondents using a researcher-structured questionnaire. The findings suggest that teachers in this category, to a large extent, do not implement reconceptualized flipped learning, most likely due to a lack of awareness of the concept. Practical ways to upskill digitally are suggested as a way forward. Article visualizations

COLLECTIVE INFORMATION LITERACY SKILLS OF STUDENT GROUPS DURING COLLECTIVE INFORMATION-SEEKING PROCESS IN RURAL VOCATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTIONS
This study aims to investigate the Collective Information Literacy (IL) skills of student groups in selected public and private vocational training institutions (VTI) in Tanzania’s rural settings. Specifically, the study seeks to evaluate the informational literacy (IL) training students’ groups receive for engaging in collective information seeking (CIS) in vocational educational training (VET) institutions in rural library settings and propose an appropriate model that improves the collective information seeking behavior of students’ groups in rural libraries at VTI in Tanzania. Karunakaran, Spence, and Reddy's (2013) model anchored to conduct this study. The population of the study comprised selected VET students in Tanzania’s rural settings. A purposive sampling technique was used to select the study participants. Specifically, the proposed study used convenience sampling to select VET students for inclusion in focus group discussions and interviews. The data for the study was collected through the use of observation, interviews and focus group discussions. Qualitative data was analysed through thematic analysis. The thematic analysis helped to develop different themes relating to the specific objectives of this study. IL skills were found to be the cross-cutting process among all VET students’ groups during CIS. VET students’ groups could not get the collective information requirements in the absence of IL skills, as it was mentioned by 17 respondents (90%). However, the application of other information-searching techniques is not familiar to VET student groups, like Boolean operators and truncation. Lack of IL skills among VET students’ groups triggered by failure to retrieve complete required information to meet the collective information requirements for accomplishing the groups’ assignments given. Lack of IL skills among VET students’ groups on how to evaluate the sources of information on the internet and evaluating the massive retrieved information were the common aspects across all VET students’ groups of different professionalism. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-RELATED PLAGIARISM IN EDUCATION: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have transformed educational practices, but they have also introduced challenges such as AI-related plagiarism, which undermines academic integrity. This study explores the prevalence, challenges, and effectiveness of AI-based tools in detecting and preventing plagiarism in educational settings. The study employed Social Learning Theory (Bandura, 1977) to explore the behavioral dynamics influencing plagiarism and the role of institutional policies and AI tools in shaping ethical academic practices. Using a systematic review approach, 11 studies were analyzed to evaluate existing tools and strategies. The findings indicate that while AI-driven plagiarism detection tools have improved in identifying traditional and AI-generated plagiarism, they often lag behind the rapidly advancing AI technologies. Additionally, the study highlights the gaps in awareness and policy integration, emphasizing the importance of combining technological solutions with education on ethical academic behavior. The conclusion calls for a multifaceted approach that integrates technological innovation, policy frameworks, and proactive education to combat plagiarism effectively. This study contributes to the academic discourse by providing actionable insights for educators, policymakers, and developers, addressing a critical aspect of AI’s role in modern education.
